Touch screen no longer works after waking up from sleep

3 out of 4 times when my computer goes to sleep my touch screen will no longer work when it wakes up. I have to restart the computer to get it to recognize the pen. Is there an easier way of refreshing the system so that it will recognize the pen? Is this an operating system issue, I have vista currently.

Any resolution on this issue. Please advise as I am having the same problem when upgrading from Windows 7 to 8 on my X230T (3434cto)

  • Touch Screen No Longer Works After Windows 8 Install on X220 Tablet

I was previously running Windows 8 Preview and did not have any problems with the touch screen.  I have tried two separate clean installs of Windows 8 Pro, and the only thing that will not work is the touch screen with my finger.  The pen still works, but not the finger touch.
The driver installation for both the pen and the multitouch fails with and error saying "A supported tablet was not found on the system."
    Help Please.

  • Screen remains blacks even after waking up from Sleep mode

    Hi,
I've had my Macbook Pro for over a year now and it hasn't given me any problems until recently. The screen would remain black when I open up the laptop to wake it up from sleep mode. There would be no response even when I press random keys. When I close the laptop again, the white light at the bottom right corner lights on (when it's supposed to "breathe" while sleeping). The light goes out when I open up the laptop. The only thing I could do is to restart the computer.
What is the problem? Are there any ways to rectify this?

I am going to add my problem to this as I believe it fits and may add to the conversation.
I have a MacBook Pro, am using Parallels, and have an issue waking it up from sleep.
    Circumstances:
I close the lid and walk away from the device in my office. When I return, (over night or an hour later) I open the lid, and if nothing happens swipe the touchpad or press a key, the power light changes from pulsating to steady. then in less than 15 seconds it goes back to pusating. The display never energizes, only remain black.
I usually try opening and closing several times, and occaisionally that will work. Other times, I hold the power key until I hear the drive halt, then turn it on. The grey screen will display, then blue, then just before it gets to the log in, the screen goes black (not energized) and the light pulsates.
I have tried the PRAM reset and Safe Mode starts with no luck.
*Now the really wierd thing.* I decieded to contact Apple support on line and pay for help (yes that is weird in an of itself for me). As I began the process it came to the part for me to enter my serial number. With the lid open, I turned the MacBook on its side to try to read the number and the screen energized and the password unlock prompt was waiting for me to enter the password.
    Observations
I had read where the light sensor could be blocked by dirt or the light in the room was too dim, but I clean the screen and there is plenty of light. Dales Post is the first that I have seen Parallels and the Sudden Motion Sensor. That makes some sense to me because of what happened when I turned it on its side. I have verified that it happens regardless of using Parallels. as teh last time I did it I had closed out of all my VMs and I believe exited Parallels.
I am going to try the deleting the power preferences file and will report back.

  • Touch-pad "click" not working after waking-up from

    Hi,
I hope the subject is kind of a give away. Basically, I've finally gotten around to sorting out ACPI for my Dell 9600 laptop. I've configured, via KLaptop, for the machine to go into Standby when I close the lid. This works ok except that when I resume, my touchpad isn't as fully functional as before. In particular, I can't "click" with the pad by tapping on it, as is the normal way I use it.
I can't imagine why this suddently stops working. Does anyone have any clues? Below is the relevant section of my acpid log, if it helps.
    Cheers

I think you have to toggle the synaptics driver... if you check the output from X you should have like "Synapitics Device On/Off" if you switch to a console... I'm not sure how to control it, but I have a feeling that shut off and never restarted

    Macbook Pro:
When I raise the lid after sleeping, the screen comes on momentarily then backs out.  If I close the lid and raise it again, the same thing happens.  It is sometimes necessary to force quit.  Once restarted, there is no problem unless the lid is closed for a short time and the machinge goes to sleep.

  • Internet stops working after waking up from sleep

My MPB has a strange and very inconvenient problem. Sometimes when it goes out of sleep Internet stops working. No matter what connection I use: Ethernet or WiFi (tried both), no site can be opened. The strange thing is:
at the same time other devices connected to the same router work fine (both wired and wireless), so router and ISP are OK.
from Mac I can ping any site by IP (and Skype works fine too).
So it looks like some service in Mac OS that is responsible for domain name resolution stops working.
    What I tried:
    Restart router - no effect
Move Mac to sleep and wake again - no effect
Restart Mac - the only cure. But in this case I have to close and open numerous applications that is really bothering.
Should I mention that all updates are in place?

Try this. Go to: System Preferences/Network/Advanced/ and click on the far right part of the bar, PPP. You have seven possible items to be clicked: instead, only click "Connect Automatically..." and "Disconnect when..." - and leave everything else unclicked.
That should solve your problem, though it'd be great if you were to post your results here.

Furthermore, plugging in the ethernet cord after the computer has started doesn't connect to the internet, even when I have the ifplugd service running. I am forced to run:
sudo ip link set enp3s0f2 up
    sudo dhcpcd enp3s0f2
However, I can't run these commands after the laptop wakes up from sleep since it no longer sees the ethernet interface.
I am thoroughly confused. Please help me.

It seems to be fixed after the kernel update. On an related note, I've switched from using dhcpcd to netctl. I've enabled netctl to automatically connect to the network using:
    # systemctl enable [email protected]
    # systemctl enable [email protected]

    Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/[email protected]; static)
    Active: inactive (dead)

But I turned off the wireless, so I must be connected to the ethernet, So how do I know which profile I'm connected to?

  • Hello, I have a macbook pro late 2011 15 inch with 4 gb ram. My macbook runs extremely slow when logging in after waking up from sleep, locking up and I am unable to use the keyboard. Is there a fix?

My macbook runs extremely slow when logging in after waking up from sleep, locking up and I am unable to use the keyboard. Furthermore, when just using safari to watch streaming television, my computer gets really slow, and locks up, and the dock appears blank and I sit here frustrated. Anytime i wake up my computer, my keys don't respond and I've waited at most 3 minutes untill i can type in my password. Even sometimes when i type in my password and hit enter, it takes forever to open up my mac. I have barely used any storage in my macbook, since i only use it for college, and I have run clamscan wiht no viruses showing... Any ideas?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • W510 eSATA/USB2.0 combo port does not respond after waking up from sleep mode

Has anyone tried to connect external DVD/CD player or burner to the eSATA/USB combo port and experienced very slow system performance after waking up from sleep mode?  It might takes minutes to launch an application program that usually takes just few seconds.  My W510 can not even restart.  It will just stop at the Thinkpad logo if I tried to restart after waking up from sleep.
The funny thing is if I moved the external DVD/CD player to the USB2.0 port in the back, everything went back to normal.  I don't know if this has anything to do with the fact that the combo port has something to do with eSATA.
    Thanks

It seems that this problem is unique to my system. I am hoping that one of the Mac Guru's will have at least a pointer in the right direction.
    Thanks.

  • Lose connection to external USB hard drive after waking up from sleep

My Mac lost connection to the external USB hard drive after waking up from sleep. I can still see the folders in the hard drive in Finders, but when I double clip a folder no file within the folder is displayed. I have to reconnect the hard drive with iMac to read its contents.
May I ask how this happens and is there a solution?
I'm using Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X to read from and write to NTFS format of USB external hard drive.
    Thanks!

... I un-ticked the "put hard disks to sleep when possible" option in the Energy Saver panel in the System Preferences, and it seems the problem is solved. will have to sleep and wake up my iMac to further verify if this is the solution ...
Alternative advices are always greatly appreciated!

  • Touch screen doesn't work after Vista Home64-bit upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium on IQ506

Hello, right before I upgraded to Win7, I made sure that the Touchsmart software worked and that the touch screen itself worked. As soon as I performed the upgrade (not the clean upgrade that wipes all your existing data, but rather the upgrade that carries over your applications and files), the touch screen ceased to work.
I didn't panic, thinking that I probably had to run some windows/hp updates, which I did to no avail. I also manually updated ALL the driver/software files found at this link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=4063&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us〈=en&product=3752245
Yup, every single one. As a last resort, I tried some of the HP troubleshooting for touch screens not working. It said to shut down the computer, pull the plug on the computer, hold the power button for 5 seconds, plug the computer back in, and boot it up again. Didn't help at all.
I'm at the end of my rope and there is no additional HP support on this. I'm waiting for a reliable driver update for win7 for this **bleep** touch screen. I'm dead in the water -- I've got a touchscreen computer whose touchscreen doesn't work! Someone else out there must be having this problem! Any leads?

Did you try installing the Touch Driver?

  • Crash screen: Random color and on waking up from sleep

I have a Mid-2010 13.3" MacBook Pro, and recently it has been giving me issues. I attempted to upgrade the RAM to 8gb, from the initial 4gb, but it didn't fully work, (the new 2x4gb sticks were at 1333 speed, and the max for a mid-2010 MBP is 1066.) I ran a 2gb and a 4gb stick for a while, (for a total of 6gb, and the MBP would automatically downclock the new 1333 stick to match the old 1066 stick.) then it became unstable and started crashing often after waking up from being closed (asleep.) So I took the 4gb stick out and ran on a 2gb stick until I could retrieve the other 2gb stick (I had left it somewhere,) but the crashing problems continued, and got weirder (It was no longer just a white or black screen on crashing, but I got a light blue, a green, and a dark blue screen when it would crash.
So last night I got my other 2gb stick back, and installed it (bringing it back to the original 4gb,) but it's still crashing. I tried blowing the insides out with compressed air to clear the dust out (including the RAM ports, so that they're clear of dust,) and now I'm getting new crash screen colors. I got a rapidly moving static one (where i could still see the wallpaper, but lots of lines were moving across,) and I got a magenta screen at another crash.
All of these crashes require a hard reboot (holding down the power button) to make the computer start again.
Any idea what's going on? This doesn't seem to be a super common problem. I assume it's RAM related, as I've had this laptop for the last two years without any problem, and within a week of installing a weird RAM configuration, it starts crashing all the time.
Any help would be appreciated muchly, thank you!
