Touch Screen Un-Responsive

Problem: Touch Screen not fully responsive at all times.
I broke one screen trying to answer calls before the ring sequence timed out.
After missing 7 calls over  a few hour time span, I tried harder and harder presses on the screen.
Lesson learned - take it back anytime it hiccups.   The phone was 5 to 6 weeks old.....
That phone was sent off for out-of-warranty repair.
The replacement (luckily I had a line up for upgrade) has the same problem, but not as severe.
The problem seems to be worse under high humidity weather conditions.
Problem: Repaired Phone now unable to be brought out of standby
The original arrived back from repair.
The screen was replaced, and the LCD was reported to be damaged in shipping, so it was also replaced.
The phone now will not wake from standby, under any circumstances.  You have to remove the battery and restart.
I have the screen timeout set for 30 minutes.  At least it lets me do some things via WiFi.
I have done a Full Reset, format SD Card and format Phone Storage.
I have also done a complete firmware reload.
Anyone have any ideas?

Yuy can try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restor to factory defaults/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that points to a problem like bad digitizer. Apple will exchange your iPod for $99, $149 or $199 depending upn the capacity.
A third-party place may be less expensive. Google for more places.

  • Touch screen doesnt response anymore.

So, my phone did get bricked by some extras-devel software, I had to re-flash it (OS and EMMC). Now after flashing touch screen doesnt response anymore. If tried to flash it again (OS and EMMC) without luck, still it doesnt response to anything. Can't get past the settings menu. Is there a way to fix this or do I need to send it to Nokia Care?

    hmm.  wierd.
so your have a device that is at factory specs now, with absolutely no software on it with exception to the OS, and your touch still does not work?
if it were me, i would crack the phone and make sure that the flex-cable is attached, and if it wasn't, i would connect it and try again. ....
however, if it was connected and didnt work, or you are not comfortable doing that, then i would take it to a nokia service center for repair.   IF you are in the USA, then that would mean going online to this site, http://www.nokiausa.com/get-support-and-software/repair-and-recycle/repair/repair-locator and then put your imei in and get a print screen of the warranty information and then finish the rest of the questions online until you get the confirmation page that you mail in with your phone.
if the website doesnt work, as it had problems when i was trying to do it, then call in to their customer service number @ 1-888-665-4228 and they will help you over the phone with the same thing.
if you have to mail it in, be sure you take out your battery, sim card, stylus, battery cover, memory card.  (you will not get them back)

  • Touch screen not responsive for droid 2

The touch screen on my phone only works when I slide it open. can't unlock phone without sliding it open. very frustrating

That's very frustrating to have a non responsive touch screen. Have you removed the battery and retested? Did this start after a application was downloaded? Please back up your information on the device thru Google and then master reset the device. Click here for reset instructions. If that doesn't fix the problem please PM me and I will troubleshoot with you further.
    Thank you

  • Ipod touch screen not responsive.

I locked my 3rd gen Ipod touch by pressing the power button. Now the screen turns on but there is no response to touch screen. Won't unlock. Any help is appreciated.

    - Try reseting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Last, restore to factory default/new iPod

  • Touch screen non responsive, can't answer calls.

when my phone goes into sleep mode with non activity, I receive a call but cannot answer it because touch screen won't respond, no button is responsive, I have to reboot the phone.  What is this issue?

    Chiefterry,
That's got to be quite annoying! Is this a brand new issue or one that has been going on for a while? Did any specific event - such as a new app installation, software update, or physical/liquid damage - prompt this issue to start?

  • IPhone 6 Touch screen non responsive

my iPhone6 touch screen is non responsive

What troubleshooting have you tried? User steps include restart, powering the device off/on, then a reset, holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. This does not affect your data and should correct most errors. You can also check out this support document. • IPhone 6 Touch Screen Not Responsive

    Hi everyone-
Just curious if anyone is having the same problems as me.  There have been several times now where I'm touching my iPhone 6 screen, but there is no response from the phone.  This happens both within apps as well as on the home screen.  The problem is not just with my phone, but with my fiances iPhone 6 as well.
I've tried the power on/off but that's more of a temporary fix.  Is it worth going to apple store and asking to switch for a new device?  I've had every iPhone model since the first, this is the first time I've experienced response issues...
Curious to hear the rest of the communities thoughts.

Have you ever dropped your phone? You know I thought my screen was acting weird because of the ios updates. It first started twitching in certain apps. When I updated to 8.3 the twitching was gone but then all of a sudden my screen started blink white. Touch won't work but when the screen blinks wildly it will start opening apps on its own. Like a possessed phone it would open things, close, start typing...I'd have to either tap it with my hand or twist the frame a bit and it'll start working. I'm thinking it's because of the several times my phone dropped. Elsewhere I read some people having a clean wipe/factory reset solving their issue...

  • Touch Screen Less Responsive on Right Edge with iPhone 5

So I've been having this issue with my iPhone.  I actually had it replaced because of this and have the same issue with the new one.
What happens is that it seems like the right edge of the screen is either intermitently or always unresponsive.  This is noticeable when trying to toggle the On/Off switch in the settings like for Airplane mode.  There's no problem on the left side when I press the round button but it doesn't respond when I press it on the right side.
I also notice it in Safari when I try to drag a page near the right edge and the upper right hand in Maps doesn't respond to double taps.   In general, it is difficult to select small buttons.
The last thing is that, when I try to use the keyboard, I'll try typing in an M and it will press Delete instead.  Needless to say, this is annoying, particularly when I'm trying to fill out a form with an email address and the keyboard doesn't have a .com button.  In fact, the keyboard buttons tend to skew ever so slightly towards the left side of the screeen in general.  I have relatively fat fingers, so I tried using my fingernails and my pinky, and still had the issue.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?  There were a few threads that touched on this but they weren't that specific.  It seems like a design flaw rather than an isolated incident, as it appears to be present on all iPhone 5s that I've tried.  I'm not sure if it's a software problem or if the new manufacturing process is flawed.  In any case, it seems like something Apple should resolve.
I realize it's kind of a small thing but it really hampers usablity.  I'm guessing most people just assume that it's supposed to be like that but I guess I expect more from Apple.  I know that it wasn't an issue on some of the Android phones that I've tried out.  The only reason I got an iPhone instead of an Android device is because the App ecosystem is so much better on the iPhone, particularly for music apps, as I'm a musician but I'm thinking that I should just get an iPad for the music stuff and an Android device for a smart phone unless Apple wants to address this issue.  I did contact Apple Care and the rep couldn't really do more than apologize and say that the issue would be recorded.  My hope is that enough people complain about this issue they might do something about it; I'm not holding my breath though.

Hi, same here - bought 5 last week and from the very first tries of typing (without any app installed) was driving my wife crazy - backspace button is hardest to press, typing was somehow shifted - you must press button 1mm side to work. Installed one free app to replace default keyboard but the problem persist- smaller but is still there. Slider buttons are also hard to slide. What should I do - try to replace at the store?
Another problem - hard to press volume buttons/pause on headset. Againg they must be pressed hard to work - don't know if that is connected with the screen issues?

  • 4 gen touch screen not responsive/responds slowly, not functional.

I have a 4th Gen iPod touch that I have owned for just over 2 weeks and three different times now the screen has gone unresponsive.  The first two times I restored it (had to restore it twice each time) and it has fixed it.  Now I have tryed to restore it 3 times and it is still not working.  Any suggestions??
When I say unresponsive, it kind of responds but it is very delayed, and I cant scroll through the screens.
    Any help is much appreciated.

If you restored it to factory defaults/new iPod and are still having the problrm then it is likely a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. If not try that restore.

  • Touch Screen Wrong Response

Hey Everybody, I was wondering if anybody knew what was wrong with my iPod and if there was anything I could do to solve it!
Quite often when I turn on my iPod and try to enter my passcode I will touch the letter M and then it will type the letter F. It does a completely different letter then what I want and it is never near the letter I am touching.
Does anybody know what is happening?

    Anybooooody

  • I'm trying to use the slide to unlock bar but the iPad 3 touch screen is non responsive.

iPad 3 touch screen non responsive. How can I fix this?
I'm trying to use the slide to unlock bar but the iPad 3 touch screen is non responsive. How can I fix this!

I tried that step but it would not work. I think I may have changed a setting.
I was able to highlight a function but had to tap 3 times to get it to respond
to the command. I think it's some type of Restriction or Accessibility settings.
    Any suggestions?

  • Are touch screen gestures supposed to be obvious?

Bought my father a new nano, loaded up some music, and I am trying to navigate. My iPod nano 2nd generation has the click wheel, so now I am trying to use the touch screen. I assumed it would be like the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch that I am used to, but hardly anything seems to work.
If I touch on the icon for Music, it gets outlined, but nothing happens.
I have to touch rapidly twice to open the Music icon.
When I slide up to scroll, nothing happens.
When I slide right to go back (per the on-screen tip), nothing happens.
On the home screen, at the bottom, there are two small circles indicating that there is another page of icons, but scrolling does not seem to work.
I just double-checked, and I did remove the plastic cover over the screen.
It is a two hour round trip to the nearest Apple store, so before I drive there to have them say, "no, this isn't a touch screen", is there anything obvious that I could be missing?  My old old 2nd gen nano has a switch that prevents to click wheel from operating, but I don't see anything like that here.
    Thanks
    Bill

To follow up in case anyone else has the same problem: the third Apple store employee that I showed the device to realized that one of the visual accessibility features had been enabled.
This feature apparently uses voice over to announce what icon you've touched, and then requires a second touch to select the icon. The first two employees claimed that you have to double-tap on the iPod, which is wrong. The third guy's quote:  "If you turn on this visual accessibility feature and you actually can see, you will become incredibly frustrated".
Once he turned the feature off, the touch screen became responsive as I would expect. Select an item with a single tap, scroll with a swipe, and so on.
If it seems that your touch screen is not working "right", try connecting to iTunes to see if this feature is turned on: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH1695
