Touch Smart IQ500 DVD-CD player not recording

my ALL IN ONE TOUCH SMART 500, DVD -CD player is not allowing me to burn onto a disc (CD-R)

Have the discs been formatted? If Autoplay options have been adjusted, the discs may not be formatted properly when they are inserted. 
Here's a thorough guide to formatting CDs and DVDs with File Explorer.
Take a look at the 'Getting Started' section and the 'Burn a Disc for Use in a CD or DVD Player'.
"If you have AutoPlay disabled, you won't see the pop-ups shown above. Instead, you'll have to open File/Windows Explorer and double-click (or tap) your disc drive in the Computer section."
If it is still giving you the same message when you try to format it through File Explorer, you may need to enable the device or remove the upper and lower filters. Let me know the results when you get a chance

     My 2 yr old DV9700 laptop dvd is not playing. My lightscribe dvd/cd player just stopped working. Says no disc found even though it has power, the disc is spinning and the light is on. It is not recognizing the drive in my device manager!  I can not find the install disc.  Not sure what to do from here, it has power but says no disc found and will not play when i push the quickplay button.  computer has windows vist 64 bit.

    Go Device Manager and open the tree IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.  Double click the first channel ( channel 0 ) and select the Advanced Settings tab.  You are looking for an entry called ATAPI Cdrom.  If it is not on the first channel, close the window and double click the next channel and select the Advanced Settings tab.  Repeat this until you see the entry you're looking for.  Now close the window with the box displaying ATAPI Cdrom, Right click on the channel you just opened and select uninstall.  Again do not delete drivers if asked.  Once uninstalled, reboot your PC.

  • Touch Smart IQ500 will not power on at all

    HI
    I have owned  my pc since 2008. Yesterday my kids disconnected it and and connected it to a power cord. Well it turned on once then turned off. Ever since it will not power on at all. Does that mean my whole computer burned up or do you think i just need a new power supply. Please Help..Thank you!!

  • CD/DVD disc player not auto reading when disc inserted

    CD-DVD drive not working properly . Will not auto read when a disc is inserted to play music even tho Windows Media Player is designated as the auto player. Have checked the DVD-CD disc drive in device manager and it says it is working properly and there are no updates at this time available!

    This is a software problem.  If it is still under warranty, immediately demand a refund.  As soon as it is one second out of warranty, you can forget about HP ever helping.

  • Touch smart not opening windows or after I play a game it won't do anything

    I had to send my touch smart in for maintenance and since it has been returned it won't shut down, won't open any windows, I try to run Norton and it freezes, I am getting very annoyed, got it in 2010 and never had any serious issues until now.

When you call you need to talk to Stephen no one else there handles this ok. Stephen is the only case manger who handles touchsrmarts computers those that answer the phones are clueless and have no authority to do any thing.

            I do not know what parts you had replaced on your computer . If the hard drive was replaced then you will need to speak with Stephen directly see what he recomends  Your computer now has a 90 day warranty on it now.  Now if they did not replace the hard drive just do a factory restore using the recovery disc you made. Shut down computer and turn it back on tap the Esc key your computer is now in Bios select Boot up from cd/dvd drive insert Recovery Disc 1 into dvd/cd drive restart computer and tap f-11 key. Now recovery will start up automatically follow command promts. If you have a very old computer then use f-2 key instead of Esc key. To switch boot up. If factory recovery does not work you need to tell this to Stephen. You are welcome frrw.

  • Zen Touch latest Firmware Update...player not connec

    I tried installing the latest Firmware update for my Zen Touch (released 2-09).
    The player is connected and recognized by Windows and the Media Explorer. However, when I try to install the new Firmware it keeps saying "player not connected".
    I tried d/l two different language packages cause I wasn't sure what counted - player language or operating system langauge. Anyway, that didn't make a difference.
    So what do I do? I have no idea where to start. It's firmware for the correct device connected through Windows XP.
    I have made a firmware update before, which worked fine. After that I updated the media explorer software.
    Help is very much appreciated! Thank you in advance.

    Perhaps it's worth making sure no software is using the player, so reboot the PC, and turn off the Creative Detector. Then try again.
    Are you trying to upgrade to the .0.03 version?

  • DVD Player installation error A valid DVD drive could not be found. [-70012]

    My iMac has an external "superdrive" and I can't play files .dvdmedia.  On opening the DVD Player I get this message:  There was installation error  A valid DVD drive could not be found. [-70012]
    This sent an error message to Apple when I click the OK button.
    I have tried to relinstall the DVD player.app from the SnowLeopard disc, but this app was not on the list for custom install.  I have repaired permissions, no help! I have shut down and waited several minutes and restarted, no help.

    My continued frustration with this problem lead  me to an archived discussion https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2020977?start=0&tstart=0  This lead me to beleive I need to use the reset password to fully repair my permissions as contained there.  Also while booted in the install disc, I performed a Repair Disc on the StartUp disc.
    After all this, when I restarted, the DVD Player was able to play DVDmedia files completely.
    So I quess I solved my own problem.

  • DVD Player plays DVDs but will not play VIDEO_TS files from my hard drive

    When logged into my home account DVD Player plays DVDs but will not play VIDEO_TS files that are on my hard drive. I get an error message: "there was a problem opening the media. Media type is not supported." When logged in as "root" DVD player does play these same files. Also, when logged in to my home account, I can play these same files in VLC.

    But the gist of the fix is to delete or rename "~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist" and let the DVD Player build a new one. It seems that this is caused by a migrated PPC preference that borks DVD Player 5 on Intel Macs, which is what just happened to me. Hope this helps.

  • DVD Player Not Working - Need Help Please!

    My eMac is currently not reading DVDs. The drive will recognize and automatically play commercial music CDs and software, as well as burned music CDs. However, when a commercial DVD is inserted into a drive, not only will the DVD player not recognize or play it, the eMac does not even notice that there is a DVD in the disk drive.
    Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    there are a number of things for you to try. one is to do a pmu reset. instructions are found in step 6 of this article. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=34885 if you have an ati graphics emac or later, then the pmu button is on the right side, not the left. if that doesn't work, then try resetting the firmware. boot to open firmware by holding apple-option-o-f and then type in the following commands--
    reset-nvram (hit return)
    set-defaults (hit return)
    reset-all (hit return)
    the last command will restart the computer. if neither of those things works, then i would try booting to the install disk and running disk utility. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214 if that fails, then i would create a test user (system preferences > accounts, then hit the plus sign) and see if there is any difference there. let me know how that is going for you.   • DVD Player not reading CD or DVD

    I have a Satellite A665-56093 laptop, and the DVD/CD player was working, and now it won't read CD's or DVD's. The model  on the drive (according to device manager) is TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633Y.
    When I put a CD or DVD in you can hear the computer trying to read it, but then after a minute or so, it just ejects and asks for a valid disc. I can see that the drive exists in Windows Explorer, but can not see the contents of the disc.
    It appears that a data disc (software install) is read fine.  I tried updating the drivers for the Drive, but it says that they are up to date.
    Any Ideas? I am just stuck...

    Anyone find a fix to the tsstcorp TS-L633Y reading only 1 out of 3 DVD movies during the past 2 months? I've searched high and low, but can't find a fix. It spins the movie and kicks it out asking for a valid disk. I uninstalled the driver, reinstalled, and nothing. I've Googled and googled, but nothing comes up to help me sort this problem out. The Redbox DVD's work in my sister's HP laptop. It's a Samsung problem in my Toshiba notebook as it's a Samsung drive with Korean electronics not being fully perfected yet to the Japanese level of perfection in my experience. The player seems to be find and plays some DVD's and all CD's. I didn't notice the problem until I started renting Redbox back in late January. I thought for a while the DVD's were requiring validation that they were valid copies, but that's not the case. It's some kind of software problem, but the system says the device is working fine.
    Eludes me????
