Touch smart system board cost $1190

Dear all,
I know this is the wrong place to address this.
Hardly one month finish my warranty expired and the authorised HP service center in Republic of Maldives is charging $ 1190 for system board (537320-001) replacing.
So could you please clear me that this will cost like this or where I can address this.

Last I checked I am a real human, it is just that I do not work for HP and can't speak for them. HP would not be the place I would go for a "refurbish" job. They charge an arm and a leg for out of warranty service. You simply need to find someone to replace the system board (motherboard). It is also very likely on that model that you could have your system board repaired. There are many services on ebay that will repair the motherboard at the component level. The cost would be at or under $100 or so. I have more advice to give but many times I write a detailed response only to have the user never come back. I do check my posts so if you want more ideas just please respond. The tx2-1000 was one of the models affected by the nVidia issue that caused so many HP laptops made in the 2007-2009 era to fail prematurely.

IPhone5 bad system board

Yesterday my i5 was at 40% and i decided to plug it in which i noticed it wasnt charging so i rebooted the phone but it wouldnt power back on. I did a handful of hard resets and finally got the screen to show the 'plug in to charge' icon. Im thinking it was at 40% how can it be dead. I plugged it in and wouldnt charge. Tried several cables that worked on the ipad and still wouldnt work with the i5. So i took it in to a local phone repair which they stuck a new battery in and the phone booted but would not charge. They replaced the charge port and still wouldnt charge so they deemed it unrepairable and something wrong with the system board. This phone was bought in Oct 2012 so its about 1.5 yr old. Will apple fix this? whats the procedure on this since its out of warranty?

I saw your post about your Touchsmart not booting up for you if I understand the issue correctly. I would like to help you, however I would need some more information to better research the correct troubleshooting guides for you.
Please explain to me in more detail about the problem. For example, will the computer start up and then completely shut
down or will it not turn on at all? Do you see any error messages? Lights? Any unusual noise?
Next, there are quite a few models of the Touchsmart 300, please find your exact model number and let me know which one you are working with.

HP Touch Smart

I want to Edit a small Video I took with my camera. I am using Windows 7 with Microsoft 10. Anyway the Video is in a file folder: Libraries, Videos. I open up the touch Smart and then open the videos. There are some Videos already in the files there, they went there automatically as I did not put them there. The video I want is not there, I do not know how to pull the Video I want to edit into the Touch Smart application. I have tried search, but it is not found. How do I get the Video into Touch Smart? The Video usually opens from its file folder with Window Media Player.

There are many different models of the HP Touch Smart, knowing what specific model you have may be beneficial to supporting you with this issue.
Are you able to enter into safe mode?
Keep hitting F8 after you power on until the Safe Mode screen shows up.
If it boots up try to do a system restore to before you installed the updates.
Are you able to enter into recovery mode?
Keep hitting F11 after you power on until the Recovery window opens.
If you are able to get into recovery mode you can attempt to recover the system back to it's original defaults. However, this should act as a last resort if safe mode doesn't work.

Purple line at the bottom of the touch smart screen

I have a purple line at the bottom of my touch smart screen , that is causing the icons to flicker rapidly . How can i resolve this .

If you restart your system, is that purple line still there?
During the boot process into windows, do you still have that same line?
If you boot into BIOS or into safemode, is that line still there?
You can try to remove the video card driver and see if that resolves if not, better to try to update the video card driver, but for that, you need to tell me what computer model you have, the exact and entire model.

Upgraded my touch smart 520-1070 to Windows 8 and now no program under hp touch smart works (HP MUsic, HP Touch Smart Magic Canvas, etc)? Everything worked fine under Windows 7. No other problems with the Window 8 installation. It was very smooth.

Not all Windows 8 features may be available on all Windows 7 computers. Your computer may require additional hardware, software, firmware, and/or a BIOS upgrade to install and run Windows 8.
Secure boot is not available on any HP Consumer Desktop or All-in-One computers.
If you purchased your computer prior to October 1st , 2011, HP has not tested or developed drivers for your model computer. Therefore an upgrade of your computer may be difficult or impossible.
HP recommends installing the 64-bit version of Windows 8 for desktop computers.

Broken System Board. Repair Possible?

Nokia 5233 system board got broken accidentally. The pin on the board for the battery is broken and that edge of the board is slightly damaged. Nokia care says repair's not possible. Please check the photoes, I think it's possible to repair. It's been only 4 months of the purchase, I really want it repaired. Tell me, if it's really impossible to repair. Or it's gonna cost a lot. Then how much it's gonna cost.

If Nokia say it can't be repaired and is scrap, then you've got nothing to lose by trying to repair it. Do you have the piece of board that was broken off? If you do, the Superglue is your friend. The with a very fine soldering iron, lots of light and a big magnifying glass, solder the pin back on. Just be careful though. When Superglue gets hot it gives off Cyanide fumes so don't breath in.
Why would this discussion be forbiddden? The phone is scrap although quite what he was doing to break it in the first place is a different matter.

Sparc 20, hostid and system boards

I have a Sparc 20 that was being used as a license server. The SCSI controller on the system board does not recognise disk drives anymore. I am trying to persuade Engineering to re-license the software for another machine/hostid, but I know they are going to balk. My questions:
1) Does anyone sell Sparc 20 system boards? I poked around on a couple of sites with no luck.
2) Can the chip that holds the hostid on a Sparc 20 be moved to an Ultra 5 or an Ultra 250 without letting the smoke out? I don't have any other pre-Ultra Sparc machines left that are not in service.

A company that sells memory still lists (refurbished, 90-day warranty) SPARCstation 20 system boards as a spare part (about $ 30 plus shipping). Have you tried eBay ?
Usually a license is bound to a class of machine (regarding performance) and the HOSTID.
In your case the machine is used as a license server and not running the application itself.
2) Can the chip that holds the hostid on a Sparc 20 be moved to an Ultra 5 or an Ultra 250 without letting the smoke out? I don't have any other pre-Ultra Sparc machines left that are not in service.
The SPARCstation 20 uses a 48T18 chip, while the U5/E250 uses a 48T59 chip. Both types have 28 pins and are 8Kx8, but I don't think these types are interchangable (the 48T59 has 70ns access time while the 48T18 has "only" 150ns).
But you can try to reprogram the HOSTID in the Ultra system.
As Martin already mentioned the U5/E250 have a machine-type 8x (usually 80) while the SPARCstation 20 has 72. The machine-type is part of the HOSTID. Maybe the system uses this information to select the correct kernel.
I would recommend that you apply for a new license. The battery in the NVRAM has "Consumption Life" of about 10 years and getting a new chip of this type might be tough in the future (maybe already today).

My Neice uses something at school called Smart Key Board. see attached image.
Its a learning/aid where she sees the keys on screen so she doesnt have to look at the actual key board.
She loves it and wants it on her MacBook at home.
But I cant seem to find it for the mac?
Has any one ever heard of such a thing?
Any and all replies are MOST appreciated. :-)

Blackberry 9800 touch smart phone

I have recently purchased a new Blackberry 9800 touch smart phone and I am unable to connect to the internet, it tells me I need an Enterprise password, how do I get this, because it seam like I can't send emails or seach the internet until I activate my phone. where would I fine this activation password?
it say's when I try to email, activate your enterprise account,enter details provided by your system administrator.
So, what dose this mean? I haven't got a clue. Help!!!

That message will appear for one of two reasons. One, the phone has an IT policy on it or two, you don't have a proper BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) data plan with Vodafone.
If you don't have a BIS plan with Vodafone, you'll have to give them a ring to activate such a plan if you wish to fully appreciate your BlackBerry. If you do have BIS with them, then you'll need to do a security wipe of the phone to remove the IT policy. This can be done by going to your homescreen and following Options>Security>Security Wipe or Options>Device>Security>Security Wipe, depending on which OS your phone is running.

T510 New System Board

I replaced the system board in this T510 but I cannot update the machine type. The cursor starts to the right of the hyphen and will not move to the left, just allows me to enter 3 characters. How do I get around this? I have tried 2 different BIOS disks, the first of which is the latest dated 21 Dec 2011.

The machine type is only 3 characters. 2672-KHU: 2672 would be the model. KHU would be the type.

How can you brand a serial number onto the system board?

I just replaced a system board and need to brand it with the appropriate serial number. How do I accomplish that? I have software to run when I do that with Dells or Lenovos. How can I do it with an HP?

Hi:
You cannot tattoo a HP notebook. It has to be done by an authorized HP tech service center where they have a DMI tool for that which is not available to the public.
You can tattoo some HP business desktops with this software, link below. It might work on HP consumer desktops but I don't know since I have never tried it on one.

This program makes a bootable floppy disk, and cannot be installed via any other method than a FDD or USB FDD.
It works on many other HP business desktops other than those listed. It has been used successfully in PC's up to a couple years old.

Why is my BRAND NEW touch smart screen not recognizing my touch?

I can't figure out why when I purchased my HP touch smart screen computer, at the store on display, it was working, and now when I set it all up, it doesn't recognize my finger touch!

If it doesn't even make a chirping noise when you touch the screen, it may be defective.
