I listen to audio books in my car while driving to and from work and also while driving to Northern Michigan on the week ends. The TransPod is the only accessory I have tried that actually allows me to listen to the iPod through my FM radio without any interference or static. This is a great solution until the car companies figure out that millions of drivers want to listen to their iPods while driving.

  • Thank you for the best distro so far!

    Hi!
I just want to say thank you to all the people who made ArchLinux possible!
I've been using Gnu/Linux for some year now and I've been testing everything from Mandrake to Gentoo. Though none of them could satisfy my needs of a fast small distro with a great package manager! But now I have found my new best friend and he is named Arch!
So once again thanks to everyone who made it possible!
I've also been starting to translate the documentation into Swedish!
    Have a nice day!

Also registered just to say thank you! I've been using spotify since it came to the US and was ported for webOS. I have since bought an android phone and was happy to see a working version for Linux (Been rocking Ubuntu for 4 years now). Had the same recent issue that many people are reporting with 12.04 (The life of being a beta guinea pig) so I'm trying out the 0.8.X previews and it's working so far barring the known issues. Blah blah blah, thank you guys!

  • Ios 7 the best ios so far.

I like ios 7  so far. its a new improvemment design. its intelligent. i like its every design of it. i like the live animated eveything. this ios 7 with big screen like ipad will be georgous. of course this is a new design and some people may not use to it. but eventually they will get use to this ios 7. this ios 7 is beautiful and smart. this is a new design and i want to see this same design for mac. i like ios 7 so much and i support it.
    Thank you

Subjective of course. I respectfully disagree. Just take the keyboard alone as an example.
In iOS 6, it's a great keyboard - the shadowing on the keys, bold characters, light gray on
a dark gray background, white characters on special keys, etc. It is a beautiful, simple,
and, most of all, extremely usable design for a soft keypad.
In iOS 7, it's just plain horrid. Scorching white background, poor choice of font for the
characters, thin likes, etc. Just horrible from a usability perspective, as the iOS 6
keyboard was easy to use in almost any light, the iOS 7 keyboard is not.
I could go on, but, too each their own.

  • The best case so far.. iPod socks??

Been playing with the 5G 60gb for 2 weeks now, I used the included case only for 2 days, it's ok but a bit too tight for the 60gb and it's a pain to pull it out. So, now I'm using the iPod socks that I bought last year for my 3G, I have to say that they're one of the most over priced accessories around but: you can use them for any kind of iPod, I used them a couple of times for my cell phone too, and I keep my iSight on one of them. So at the end I think they're pretty worth while, any other experience-opinion on the Apple Socks?

Do you not find that tiny particles of dirt in the sock scratch the screen etc? I have not tried them, but without a shield, I would expect more scratches in an iPod sock than the supplied soft case...

  • HT3231 how do i   TRANSFER MY PHOTOS AND VIDEOS FROM MY MAC PRO POWERBOOK G4 TO MY NEW MACBOOK PRO,  WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST WAY,  THANKS

I HAVE A MAC POWERBOOK G4 AND WOULD LIKE TO TRANSFER MY FILES, PHOTOS AND VIDS TO MY NEW MAC PRO,  WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST METHOD??  THANKS ROB

I think the easiest way is to use a firewire cable (you will need on like this: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=Firewire+400+to+800+cable&oe=utf-8&rls= org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=120962573 04625337030&sa=X&ei=PytQT9r4NtOBsgL9s_C6Dg&ved=0CHYQ8gIwAA).
Power up the Power Mac G4 and hold the "T" key while it is booting (this puts the G4 notebook in Firewire Target Disk mode).  Connect the G4 notebook to the newer MacBook Pro and use the Migration assistant (/Applications/Utilities) OR browse through the files and copy what you want.

  • Need to know the best practice for converting string to double

I have a string and want to convert to double if it is a valid number, else want to keep as it is. There can be couple of ways doing it and I want to know which one is best if I have lots of strings, specially from performance point of view.
    1) Use Double.parseDouble(myString) and catching Number format exception to detect it is not a number. One of my colleague said it does not give good performance because of exception catching,
    2) Use of org.apache.commons.lang.math.NumberUtils.isNumber() and if it is true then only parse it - so don't rely on exception.
I did some performance testing - putting it in a loop and trying out for 2 scenarios - one loop for proper numeric value string and another for non-numeric. What I found out was if strings are not proper then parseDouble() is taking long time (because of exception catching) and in that case using NumberUtils.isNumber() makes sense.
Would like to hear expert views on this.
    Thanks
    Manisha

If you need it as a double you must convert it to a double and catch the exception. This means that testing it first is a waste of time in the case when the test succeeds - did your colleague think of that?
Catching the exception is possibly slower than the test. Whether this is significant depends on the relative timings of the test and catching the exception, and also on the expected error rate. If this is below about 40% I suggest your colleague is talking through his esteemed hat.
And of course the best test by far is the conversion itself. Using any other test runs the risk of its rules being different from those applied by the conversion.
In any case you are obliged to write the code that catches the exception. You're not obliged to write the pre-test code.
My personal rule for efficiency is to minimize lines of code until hard evidence to the contrary proves that further improvement is required.

  • What is the best way to transfer photos currently in Shutterfly into iPhoto?

    Hi!
What is the best way (as far as highest quality and most efficient) to transfer photos currently in Shutterfly into iPhoto?  Do I need Shutterfly to make CDs of all of my current photos?
    Thanks for any help!!

How to make the best quality Sutterfly copies is a good question for ShutterFly support - eithere download the pohotos or get the CD depending on what ShutterFly support suggests and then import to iPhoto
iPhoto simply takes the quality you provide and makes an exact copy of it

  • My best workflow so far.

Thought I'd share a way Ive found to work with PMD and the eclipse plug-in when adding the nature to a project which already has quite a lot of code.
    1. add the pmd nature
    2. turn on Monitorize
First i tried just doing a clean build hoping all the code would be tested. it either didnt work or I think just stopped cus of too many files
anyway, what ive now done to good effect is this.
Go through each folder, or master package and do a manual PMD run (this also then displays the results in the flexPMD view panel, which wasnt happening when pmd was auto run by a build)
once Ive gone through each folder and done a manual run, the errors etc in the problems panel just agregate nicely. Now I have a fully tested start point
from then on only files I change and save are tested, during the build cycle, and all seems to be running very well.
It helps a great deal if you set up a second problems panel just for pmd results.
It's taken me a while to find this (although obvious) workflow, but now for the first time I have a fully tested code base that only retests changed files.
and thanks for the 2500 problems lol
I've found working this way to have the best results so far.
    builder 4
    sdk4 trunk
    pmd trunk
    glenn
ps - typos - i've only been awake 30 minutes and still on first espresso!

    Hi Glenn,
Adding the nature to your project should be enough so that FlexPMD runs automatically on all your source files and see the errors in the errors panel. It shouldn't be necessary for you to run FlexPMD "manually". You might be experiencing an error related to http://forums.adobe.com/thread/537410
I'll try to reproduce and fix the issue. It seems to be affecting several people.
once Ive gone through each folder and done a manual run, the errors etc in the problems panel just agregate nicely. Now I have a fully tested start point
Why do you go through each folder? Running FlexPMD in a parent folder should recursively scan all subfolders. Is it not the case for you?
Go through each folder, or master package and do a manual PMD run (this also then displays the results in the flexPMD view panel, which wasnt happening when pmd was auto run by a build)
When you add flexPMD nature to your projects it's not expected to see the problems in the FlexPMD View, you will only see the problmes in the problems View. FlexPMD View only displays the errors when FlexPMD is executed as an action.

  • What is the best approach to add new fieds to an extractor

I am working with an infocube wher i need to get the day of the week based off the created on date.  I need the number like 1-7 and then tie this to another table to get the actual name like Monday, Tuesday.  Etc.
I was planning on creating an update rule which would find the day of the week and the name of the day.  I am not sure the best approqch as far as loading the data and the inforobject.  Should i load the text 1 time becaue that will never change, like Monday etc. or do Ioad it in the start routine?    also do I create 1 infoobject with text or do I create 2 separate one?

You can create a new infoobject with text and manually create 7 records.
In update rules ou can use function module DATE_COMPUTE_DAY or DAY_IN_WEEK to get the numeric value of the day of the week.
    Hope it helps.

  • What is the best image size format for imovie iOS

I want to create a few black images with white letters as title slides and use them with some of my videos I am creating using imovie with my new ipad3.
What is the best image size?
    thanks!
    Jeremy

It all depends on what you want to do with the images.
If you don't want to do any moves on the images then make them the exact size of the video.
The iPad 3 edits in full HD, 1920 x 1080.
If you want to do small moves, then make is larger.
But keep the 1920 x 1080 dimensions otherwise iMovie just chops the image to that ratio.
    good luck

  • What is the best SEO toolbar to use?

I'm new to the SEO world, and it's come to my attention that it's important to have an SEO toolbar to determine rankings, etc. Just curious to see if anyone had suggestions about which was the best to use. Thanks.

I'd definitely go for Firefox. I've been using it for a while but switched to Safari after buying a new Mac, after three weeks trying out Safari I've gone back to using Firefox almost all the time.
Everyone has their own likes/dislikes and ways of doing things though so, as Bob the Fishy Man says, you should try them all and decide which works best for you.
Having said that, I had heard that Firefox was more secure than the others, possibly someone itk could comment on that.
