Touch- Wired Remote Worth

Hi Everyone,
I'm going to get a Zen Touch 40 gig.
Is the optional wired remote control, that can be purchased for about $50, worth getting?
Are you able to control the MP3 player controls from the remote, or does it only control the FM radio?
Any advice on this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian

Don't waste your money on it, is a plastic piece of junk. I bought one and it only worked for month, the cables seems to be the problem. You can only play/pause, skip one track foward or backsward. The lcd display only show the song title. You can't browse your player with it, only the current playlist is accesible. Many have complained about the Radio tuner's quality, in my experience it has a great quality, to bad it came in such a cheap case. Other features that this remotes enables are voice recording from a mic which is integrated into the remote, and radio recording. The quality of the recordings is good. Still like I said in the begining this is not worth the 49.99+S&H that it cost, plus you are risking yourself that it brokes like mine did in month.Message Edited by lsd_us3r on 07-9-2005 :04 PM

  • Is it possible Creative pulled the Zen Touch Wired FM Remotes for a redesig

I was thinking of purchasing one of these wired remotes for my Zen Touch...but can't find them anywhere...anywhere here on creatives site and anywhere else online...all say out of stock...would make sense and all since it is Xmas coming up...but after reading all the reviews on this unit and how expensi've it is and how it breaks after a certain amount of months...perhaps creative is pulling them for redesign or something?
would love to buy one...but...can't find one...yet everyone says this thing is crap!
    hrm.............wish there were more options.

They've been hard to find since they were launched. Creative aren't good at keeping items in stock.

  • Zen Touch optional wired remote control to play FM radio how do I get it? or can it work without

One of the reasons why i am thinking of buying a zen touch is becuase it has a FM radio built in. From the website it says you need an optional wired remote control to listen to the radio, where can i get one in the uk? or can it work without it's

The Zen Touch doesn't have a radio built-in. You'd need this:

The Zen Micro does have an FM tuner built-in.

  • Wired Remote Zen To

    Hello
At the moment I've the Nomad Jukebox Zen (USB .) with the Wired Remote which I seperately bought. Is the remote for the Jukebox Zen Touch the same as the one from the older Zen?
    Thanks for any reply!

Click on the Shop menu in this website and select MP3 Players, scroll down, you'll find it. I have not seen Creative accessories in stores, almost all these need to be purchased direct.

  • ITouch / iPhone 3G wired remote???

Does anyone know of a good simple remote available to control iPhone/iTouch? I have seen the Griffin Navigate which has had terrible reviews, iLuv IEA15 which I can't find any reviews of, only pre-release info (and iPhone 3G isn't supported), and there are a handful of other very cheap products all of which have had awful reviews of poor sound and build quality. I have had 7 iPods over the years and have always been able to control them by remote, yet now with my iPod Touch, which I regard to be by far the best iPod, I can't even get a decent remote for it! What is that about?! I know apple headphones come with them now (I have a pair and the remote is perfect - exactly what I'm looking for) but I want to use my superior Bose headphones!
I'm sure if apple released a wired remote it would fly off the shelves. So many people use other headphones.
    Any ideas people?

Fandang, Thanks so much for posting your reply ! I cleaned the socket with a cotton swab but that did not fix it. I then took a closer look at the headset socket. On the side you can see 3 tiny metal balls stick out. I carefully used a small pin and pushed each ball in a bit and that fixed it
I bought my iPhone from Italy (all are SIMlock free there) and it would have been a ***** to ship it back to Italy to get it repaired. Thanks again!

  • Please help with some wired remote questio

Hello, id like to ask you guys who know alot about mp3 players this. I bought a Zen touch a few months ago and id like to hear FM radio besides my mp3 on it. Problem is that im not from USA and i dont have any options to get the creative wired remote with FM included because the shipment is way too expensi've, i'm from Chile ( if anyone knows where that is). Thing is i was wondering on a Chilean auctions web and i saw this article " Sony MZ-NF60 MiniDisc" wich includes a Wired FM Remote, so i was thinking DOES THIS WIRED REMOTE IS COMPATIBLE WITH MY ZEN TOUCH? AND IF IT IS, DOES THE FM FUNCTION ALSO? well i leave it to you guys it would be really helpful to me if someone answer my question. ( I've tested other wired remotes like a samsung but with no FM and works just fine) Thanks for reading.Message Edited by morovic on 04-2-2005 07:42 PM

I don't think you could hurt your zen by using a non creative remote. The only way you could is if the plug didn't fit and you jammed it in there. As long as the port is the same, it should work, but maybe not all the functions. I use one from Sony that was for my old discman and it does basic functions (play/pause, stop, next track, etc.), it looks sort of like the micro remote

  • IPhone 3G - No support for wired remote controls?

I have been looking all over the place for a wired remote for the iPhone 3G with no luck (and yes I have looked through this forum for an answer before asking my question).
I have attempted to use three wired remotes from my previous iPods, but two of them do not work at all and the third is completely unreliable. It is an Apple branded wired remote for the iPod video with similar design to the iPod Shuffle and allows you to connect your own headphones. It will only function after a hard-reset of the iPhone 3G, and strangely it takes about a minute or two for the buttons to work. If I unplug and replug the remote it will no longer be recognised and will not work again until the iPhone 3G is restarted.
I cannot see any wired remote products in the Apple store and I keep getting blank stares whenever I take this question to sales persons.
I use my iPod extensively and the only reason I bought an iPhone 3G was because I was tired of missing calls whilst listening to mp3s. I consider the wired remote as being essential for satisfactory use when out running, driving the car, etc. Without it the iPod functionally is all but useless to me.
Is there a wired remote that the iPhone 3G supports?
Additionally, are there any iPhone 3G compatible bluetooth devices that essentially perform the same function and allow you to attach your own headphones?

I've been looking for a decent remote for exactly the same reasons since I bought the 3g iPhone on release day. I settled for the Griffin SmartTalk as it allows you to answer calls, play / pause and skip (forward only meh!). Its cheap as chips (and it looks and feels as such) but it kinda does the job. Still waiting for a decent remote though. And A2DP for crying out loud! Its been long enough already. Then I could get this... http://www.foneshop.com/accessories/description/2486
which I feel is the best solution I've seen!

All those views and no responses, eh.
    Thanks Apple.
For continuing to throw your loyal customers under the bus and forcing them to buy new accessories with each generation of iPod/iPhone I will never, ever buy another Apple product again.

  • Zen Micro Wired Remote Control Prob

Anybody having problems with their supplied zen micro wired remote control?
Mine seems to be having a connection problem with the player, slight movements will cause breakages in the music, left earphones will cease playing out.
Seems that some people are having problems with zen micro's earphone jacks, however, using the supplied the earphones(minus the wired remote control) works well.

hmm, I had same problem with 2 days- was definetly a loose connection in the wiring of the remote plug, as has been no problem with other headpohnes, and is not the 'heasdphone jack' issue (yet! thank god!)
took 3 weeks to get replacement remote from creative (only returned remote, not Zen, luckily) have not really messed around with the replacement yet, but looks ok.... am really hoping so cos it is really useful for going mountain biking with the zen nice & secure in my backpack....

  • Inspire P380 wired remote not working...

    hey guys
juz recently bought the inspire p380 2.1 speakers from the SITEX PC Fair in singapore.
btw, im from malaysia and now im having problems with the wired remote
it has loose connections on the jack connector (the green thingy)...
and the sound produced in the speakers is kinda... fussy
the wired remote did work for a couple of weeks b4 this problem appeared...
so my prob is, its hard for me to claim my warranty and send this back for repair
coz i bought it in singapore and the staff there told me if i want to send my product for repair, i will have to go back to the main creative HQ in singapore
or a creative service centre located in another state here in malaysia, which is like 2 hrs dri've away from my place here
so how am i suppose to claim my warranty?

I am diagnose the problem, it's due to the new firmware so if Creative read this, can you put the remote control compatibility in new firmware? !!
how did you diagnose the problem? unless you have 2 identical zen player. one with latest firmware and another with older firmware to actually test it to confirm it's the firmware problem. I'm still incline to believe either your player is faulty or the remote is faulty and the problem is not due to the player firmware.

  • Zen Touch FM Remote screen prob

    hi all
i bought a Zen Touch FM Remote in aug last year and a mounth a go the screen keeps going off can anyone help me

The screen back-light does go off a set few seconds after a button/control usage. This is normal.
If that is not what you are writing about...try ONLY turning your Zen Touch player on or off by the PLAYER'S on/off button. This will initialize the player first, and then the circuits in the remote. This might fix any problems you are having.
    It did for myself.

  • Trying to get 2nd AE hooked up w/ Touch, ATV & Remote

I have had my AE 1 going now for almost a year and am loving it. I use it in living room to play stuff off my ATV in to my stereo wirelessly, using the Touch with teh Remote app. No w i want to add a 2nd AE for bedroom as a headphone system. I got teh thing up and running with ethernet connected, as i remember doing the first time. Only this time, when i disconnect the ethernet, the light is green but nowhere can i get i t recognized, not on mac, not on Touch, nowhere. Is there a walk-through for this kind of set-up somewhere. There has to be, i know.
    thanks

So, after the upgrade, i connect AE to my internet network? I saw that option pop up when i tried sending music to the AE through iTunes on Macbook, and the AE got recognized and asked me if i want to integrate AE into network/internet. Is this what you are referring to?
Supposing i do this, will i continually have to switch network connections on Apple TV (from DSL modem to AE) whenever i want to send music to AE, hence lose connection to internet?
Is there a way to save password, in this instance. I would hate to have to enter the 8-10 digit password every time i want to switch connections.
Also, will i be able to continue to use iPod Touch to control Apple TV and, thus, send music from ATV to AE? Ideally, i want to be able to be in room 1 with AE and control ATV (which is in room 2) with Touch without having to go in room 2 and configure ATV to send music to AE. Presently i can do that...i just pick up Touch, access Remote App and start listening to music through ATV.

  • Replacement Wired Remote Creative Inspire P5800

Does anyone know whether you can buy a replacement wired remote from a Creative Inspire P5800? I've spent all morning going in circles on their website. The headphone socket is defective on mine, and I don't really want to buy a whole new system if I can help it.

Hey, I had the same problem some time ago with the same set. My solution was to make the wire straight and don't twist it anywhere. After that it all worked fine. Good Luck

  • Wired Remote stopped working.. PLEASE HEL

I got the zen a few months ago, with little problems thus far. Last month, my headphones decided to stop working. No big deal, I am very acti've so I figured I was just too rough with them. I bought some new phones, Sony in ear types. Recently, my Wired Remote has stopped working. It will work some days, and then stop working just like that.
I am just wondering if this has happened to anyone else out there.. and if so, how they solved their problem.
    Please help, and thanks.

The wired remotes are notoriously badly made - you'll probably need to contact Creative support to get it replaced.
