Touch won't turn on..

I dropped my ipod in the toilet today and believe it or not this wasn't the first time i water damaged one of my ipods. Disappointing huh? My first Ipod touch was a christmas present and i dropped in the tub while running water...I was trying to change the song at the same time. Stupid I know. But since then i vowed not to take my ipod in the bathroom again. My parents wouldnt buy me another ipod since it was my fault. So i saved all my money over the summer and got a refurbished ipod in mid- August. And i had my ipod in my back pocket. As i was about to go to the restroom my ipod fell out of my back pocket and into the toilet! SOO upsetting! If i had remembered it was even in my back pocket i would have taken it out. I dried it off and knocked out as much excess water as possible and then i had to sleep becasue i was soo upset and my head started to hurt. I went to sleep with the ipod in my handsholding it up straight so that any water i couldnt get to would run down. When i woke up i wanted to know if it worked which was stupid but i did it anyways. I clicked the home button and nothing happened.SO i held down the home and power button and it turned on! I almost started crying! But then i began to notice something weird....I could see the water throught the screen and when my picture finally popped up and i tried to slide to unlocked it didnt detect my finger. So i double clicked the home botton and the options for music popped up but i was two scared to click it. Then i tried it again and the home button stopped working. I finally got out of bed and told everyone what happened, they put my ipod in rice.I left it in there for 24 hours and when i took it out it wouldnt turn on.SO things had gotten worse. I believe it wont turn on because the home button no longer works. I took my cord and plugged it into a computer without itunes and it turns on! The plug into itunes symbol shows up.But as soon as i unpug it the symbol goes away and the screen goes black. I can still see the water spots so i unplugged it before i can fry anything.WHat should i do next?? I looked in the headphone jack at the white slip and its HALFWAY white and HALFWAY orange. WHat should i do next?? Is there anywhere i can take the ipod to that can fix water damaged ipod touches??

Things have gotten a little better!
Now my ipod doesnt say to restore it anymore. It went to the unlock screen with the earth. So i restored it and put all my information back on it. So now my picture shows up. I can still see the water through the screen but its not as bad. The ipod seems as if its working but the home button doesnt work to turn it on the top button does though and the ipod doesnt respond to me when i touch it at ALL. So i cant unlock it.So i can't use it. But its connecting to my wi-fi which has a password on it. SO it has my information on it. But wont respond to my touch do you know of anyway of fixing this??
I dont want to take the ipod to apple because it is very obvious that it has water damage and they wont do anything.

My Zen Touch won't turn on, nor will it charge.
    Here's what happened:
    . I hadn't used it for about a week
    2. I try to turn it on, and nothing happens. It's not locked.
    3. I plug it into the charger and nothing happens.
    4. I reset it, and the title screen appears. I wait for the title screen to disappear, but it doesn't. It doesn't charge either.
    5. I take out the charger and it turns off! I try to turn it back on and still nothing happens.
    6. I plug the charger back in and, yet again, the title screen appears but doesn't change or charge.
It seems like the battery life has run out, but it won't charge.
    WHAT CAN I DO!?

Nevermind, I just went and checked my mp3 player (I left it on the charger) and now it is charging. I conclude that the battery was dead and I was just impatient :P
    Thanks anyway.

Hi, my 4th generation iPod touch won't turn on. I lost it for about a year, and I plugged it in and it wouldn't turn on. Please help!
    ~Thanks

Make sure it's fully charged. Hold the Sleep/Wake + Home buttons down (at least 15-seconds) until Apple logo lights up. If that does not work, you may need a new battery.

try pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until either the Apple logo or battery symbol appears.. this worked for me when my ipod touch didnt turn on or show the apple symbol.. hope this helps

You can work through the five 5 R's of troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of corrupted software.

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damaged part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • My ipod touch won't turn on anymore!!!

MY IPOD TOUCH WON'T TURN ON ANYMORE!!
I don't know what happened. but I am beginning to think apple is ripping me and everyone off.
I don't know why I paid about 200-300 dollars for this iPod to be frozen or not turn on anymore!
When I downloaded Currency converter pro, it just froze my ipod.
Either it's that problem, or something is wrong.
I never dropped it in water or anything bad.
    PLEASE HELP.

Have you've tried holding down the power button for several seconds?
If so and you're still getting nothing you may have to do a hard restore.
here's how to do it on Mac OS:
    1. Connect you're iPod to the computer with the sync cable, and open iTunes.
    2. Hold down the power and home buttons for 10seconds, then release the power button (continue holding the home button for about another 6-8 seconds). iTunes should display a message stating that the iPod is in restore mode and needs to be restored before it can be used (or something to that effect).
3.Hitting the restore button will likely give an error message. You'll need to hold down option and click the restore button, which will bring up a file browser. Navigate to *<your user name>/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/* and choose iPod2,12.2.1_5H11aRestore.ipsw (or similar ipsw file depending on your ipod, or iphone, generally choose the newest one) and click open.
    4. Wait for it to restore, when that's finished you should be able to further restore it using the backup that was generated when you last synced it.
I have never done this on windoze, but I imagine it's quite similar, just not sure where you'd find the ipsw file.

  • My iPod 5th gen touch won't turn on after running out of battery and then being charged for several hours

I was using my ipod touch 5th gen, when it ran out of battery. I wasn't able to charge it all night because the lighting adapter plug broke, and so this battery sign and the lighting charger sign kept popping up telling me to charge it. It ran like that all night and when I woke up it wouldn't turn on at all. I tried plugging it into a few different computers to charge it, and after several hours it still won't turn on. I tried plugging it into my computer with iTunes up, but it still would not charge and my computer would not recognize that it was there. Anyone want to give me some tips?
    Thanks

  • My iPod touch won't turn on - and doesn't successfully restore

    Hi,
This is really a last resort, because I feel I've tried everything at MY disposal to fix my issue.
    Problem:
I have an iPod Touch - 1st Generation, with all updated firmware and updated iTunes to go with it. It simply won't turn on. When plugged in to my computer via USB, it displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen, and I follow the steps to restore it. It fails during restore though. Here's what happens:
    1. The screen shuts off and changes to the Apple loading screen
    2. iTunes starts "Preparing iPod for restore"
    3. The iPod screen shuts off, nothing being shown
    4. iTunes stays on "Preparing iPod for restore" for a minute or so
    5. I then get an error saying "Unable to restore iPod - Error 1603"
And yes, I have tried recovering my iPod, going into DFU mode, and also going to the help page for Error 1603 and following instructions. The only thought is that the battery is dead, because nothing else pops up.
I've have the iPod for just under 3 years, and it has worked for the whole time up until a few months ago - the battery was not lasting as long as usual.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks

    Try a new battery.
