TouchPad Acting Crazy

My Lenovo Twist ThinkPad touchpad has been acting crazy recently. When I click anything on the touchpad (right or left) it clicks 3-4 times in a row. For instance, if I click to open a new tab in Internet Explorer, 3 tabs open simultaneously or if I click to open an app it will open it in 3 different windows. It is becoming a pain in the butt. I have tried messing around with the advanced settings under synaptics UltraNav settings but have not been able to fix the issue. I also updated the drivers, which did not help either. Do I need to send my computer in for repair? If anyone has been having this problem as well and found a fix, please fill me in! Thanks
Chris

hi akbp,
In addition to what SEAlaa have suggested, have you tried adjust the sensitivity and palm tracking settings by going to the Control Panel (large icon view) > Mouse:

  • Ipad 3 acting crazy, doing things on it's own without touchng it.

My friend's ipad 3 with retina display 32GB  is acting crazy. It switches between apps, closes/ opens apps, types, scrols, goes to home/ search and ...... by itself without even touching it. You can't think of using the ipad like this. It happens when you are using the ipad. It lasts from 10 secs to about 1-2 minutes or whatever. If you leave it for a while, it becomes normal ( you can use it) but after a while it starts acting weird again. We already restored it to latest frimware but no luck. Seems like a hardware problem to me. He said it used to become hot in the back while using it and playing heavey games(size of around 1GB). It is out of warranty now.
    Any one having same issues?
Here's a short video clip i caught it acting crazy.

Take it to an Apple Store and ask them to diagnose it, there is nothing else that you can do if you already restored the iOS software, unless you didn't restore as a new device. If you didn't do that, give it a try, if that fails, make an appointment an an Apple Store Genius Bar,

I deleted aperture and now my sistem is acting crazy. The dock disappeared and almost all icons are gone except for their names.I have an important project for tomorrow and I desperately need help fixing it.Can anyone help me please?

Well it all started with Aperture 3 trying to import some photos from my iphone. It took ages to import those photos and like I was in a hurry to finish my work in Illustrator so I tryied to force quit on A3 and it didn´t, so I shut down the computer and started over.it was all ok but I uninstalled the A3 and the I realized the icons were back to original form and a few fonts changed.so I Installed the trial version of A3.I did a restart of the system and then there was.aperture lauching but no dock and a 80% of the icons disappeared, but the names of the files and folder remained.and I cand acces the apps from the apple sign on the left corner.I tried also restarting a few time but it´s always the same.I am a recent user of a mac , and please excuse my bad english. If this is in any way useful please help me!

  • Macbook pro 2010...cursor is acting crazy jumping everywhere and responding very slow...thought it was the track pad but I plugged in a mouse and it still does the same thing...is this a virus?..and can someone please help?...

My Macbook pro is acting Crazy....the Cursor just keeps on jumping everywhere and not responding when I use the trackpad....Even when it does respond it is very slow...I thought it was the trackpad acting up but realized it wasnt when i plugged in a mouse and it still did the same thing...this happened one other time and shortly after my computer froze...I had to restart for it to work but restarting dosent help this time...can someone please help?...Is this a Virus?

It is not a virus.  See my Mac Virus Guide*.
As to what it might be, that's hard to say.  You should try some basic troubleshooting...  Repair the hard drive with disk utility.  Boot in safe mode and see if it happens then, log in to a different user account and see if it happens there, reboot from another system and see if it happens.
Apparently some people have had this kind of problem caused by swelling batteries that push on the underside of the trackpad and cause all kinds of strange problems.  Is your machine's underside deformed at all?

  • [SOLVED]Mouse and keyboard acting crazy. I have to restart gdm via ssh

Here's the output from dmesg after boot.
    http://pastebay.com/14045
Basically, I'm getting errors from my USB mouse and keyboard.  If I wait long enough udev will find them and they'll start working.  GDM starts too fast so Xorg is stuck without keyboard and mouse.  I had to ssh and restart GDM then mouse and keyboard worked.  For the meantime I've disabled gdm in rc.conf.
I usually see these messages from devices that are drawing too much power from the USB power bus.
These devices work fine in the Win32 and OSX installs on the same hardware.

  • My mail application is acting crazy.

When I try to delete messages it tells me they can not be moved to the trash because an item is there already there
    or it quits unexpectedly.
“37900.emlx” couldn’t be copied to “Messages” because an item with the same name already exists.

    Exactly.
That is why I say it is acting crazy.
When I attempt to delete from any inbox accross all accounts
it gives the same error code.
Wether I highlight drag and drop, right click delete, or move manually one by one to trash.

Good to know that I am not alone!!
In my case, after I have deleted some messages, in a few minutes, the deleted messages came back and shown as NEW MESSAGES!
This is driving me crazy as I have to repeatedly delete messages again and again and again and ....
Yes, this all happens a couple of weeks ago...
I thought that because I have so many messages in my folders so I deleted some messages but that didn't help.

my iphone is acting crazy plz help asap my phone is giving reading me everything i lay my hand on and is not letting me scroll down or select anything i must have accidentally switched some voice thing on plz help me close it:(

First off, try triple clicking the home button.
To scroll use three fingers and I think you have to double tap to get into something.
Go to Settings>General>Accessability>Voiceover and then turn that off.
Hope that sorts it for you

  • Keyboard and touch pad acting crazy

Posted earlier today about crazy keyboard jumping all around.Read a few pages by others with the same problem so I stopped in to my local computer store and the tech said the best fix is to turn off the touch pad and use a wireless mouse. He also said you can't use another keyboard either that will act properly unless the touchpad is turned off.
So, here's the question. How do you turn the dang thing (touch pad) off?
    All replies will be appreciated.
Edit: Touchpad turnoff button is just above the pad, hard to see but easy to touch. Turned it off, plugged in a wireless mouse and all is well again in Alabama. First time in months I don't have to re-write every line.

Hi cb! Thanks for clearing that up. I attached a detailed zip file that shows how to do that, step by step. As you have stated, either way will accomplish the task of disabling the touch pad. This doesn't have to be difficult. Choose one way or choose the other way. I personally like the flash card method. This screen shot is taken from the user guild, which I also provided in my other reply.

  • Touchpad went crazy for no reason : not detecting multitouch

I have a Synaptics touchpad which I could do two finger scrolling just a day ago. Today, when I try using it with two fingers, the pointer just "flips out", changing its position million times a second.
synclient used to show higher "widths" when I used multitouch (so I could scroll with pressure&width emulation), now it won't do that at all (it recognizes the width when I acutally use my whole finger, though)

I bought a new mouse and thought it was the reason, but I was already switching between touchpad and another mouse on the fly without any problem.
The second possiblity is that I was trying to dim my backlight using some driver and I might have broken my touchpad as a result, but basic gestures (edge scroll, etc) work without any problem and also, I can use it flawlessly on windows.
    Any suggestions ?

I would like to say I have had this problem for a year now. It was working fine yesterday, and now when I booted into windows and back to archlinux it started going crazy on two fingers. Anyone have a solution? I desperately want this resolved.
When I use two fingers it goes crazy, when I put my finger down so it covers a larger surface area it works (but that's not the way I want it).
Edit: Okay, after a lot of googling synonyms, I got https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=77005. This solved my problems and this thread is solved.

  • Keypad and touchpad acting weird

The touchpad and keypad are acting strange. When browser open, touching anything on the page makes a box window pop-up (not always the same one)
If I click on the search box and try to type, nothing happens and a box pops up.

If the box looks like this, then voiceover is on.  You can turn it off by hitting CMD fn F5 or going to System Preferences > Universal Access > seeing tab > voiceover: off.

  • IPhone5 Touchscreen acting crazy - Solution

    Hi Apple,
This isn't a question but more of a solution. I recently bought an iPhone 5C and the next day it started acting very erratic and crazy. It would select items when I wasnt touching the screen and scroll up and down on its own etc. I found the problem only occurred when it was charging. I had the phone plugged into a wall USB port at work which was causing the problem. When I plugged it into my PC to charge it worked perfectly well. I noticed there was a few people on here that were having the same problem so thought I would share what I found. If you guys are experiencing the same problem when your phone is charging then it is more than likely that it is the power supply causing the problem, not the phone.

    Try to reset your device.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
Press and hold on the Home button
Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.
If this does not help, try these steps. Note that this may erase the data from your computer.
You need to restore your iPad to factory settings.
Take a look this Apple Support article: Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support.
If this does not help, try the recovery mode. Turn your device off, then plug it to your computer with the home button pressed. You will need to have iTunes installed on this computer. Keep the Home button pressed until you see the iTunes logo on the screen of your iPhone. After that on your computer you should see the iTunes window saying your iPhone needs to be restored to factory settings. Click on the restore button.
If you say your device suffered from water damage, you should visit your local Apple Store and get it examined or repaired by Apple specialists.
