Touchpad left-click (primary click) frozen..

I recently bought a MSI gt72 2qe with windows 8.1 installed..
The laptop runs Synaptics Touchpad 7.5 with the newest 18.1.30.4 driver installed.
The touchpad and laptop has worked without problems until two days ago.
For some reason when the computer booted the left-click became stuck, not physically but on the mini-icon in the buttom right corner i shows the left click is being pushed down all the time.. This makes me unable to use the computer... I just hightlight or mark everything when i move the pointer around. The right click touchpad button or secondary click works as normal but im not able to move the pointer without the primary click is pushed down.
When I plug in an external mouse i am able to use this one without any problems. but the touchpad click still doesn't work.
When i switch the primary click (normal left click) to right touchpad click the problem appears here too. This means it cant be a physical problem. Now the left click is the secondary click and functions well doing so.
I have tried installing new touchpad driver from official msi site. I located the gt72 2qe laptop, then found the driver to Synaptic touchpad.
I have tried reinstalling my whole windows system and the problem still appears.
I have tried running my drivers in compatibilty mode.
I have tried uninstalling synaptic driver and installing again.
I have tried finding similar cases on google but i cant find any, and neither any solutions
Nothing fix this very annoying problem..
Thank you

I have the same issue. the left click does not work at all. Even when the button's are interchanged. Kindly let me know if this is a software or hardware issue show that it can be addresses before my return period runs out.

  • Touchpad left click button works as right click

    Hello All,
I have this laptop for few yrs now, I have tried to find out a resolution to this issue without success for really long time. I think now I am getting out of patience and need some ones help with this.
Problem is touch pads left button would work as right click and bring up the context menu.
I have gone into Control Panel>Mouse and played around with the settings.
I saw a setting there where I had option to select [Right-handed] or [Left-handed] Whatever I do, it always remains as left handed and right click stays as if it is a left handed setting.
I have updated the drive. Currently installed
    Driver Version : 17.0.19.0
    Driver Date : 17/10/2013
Issue is this behavior is not consistent, randomly it decides to work as intended (left click would be left click and right click would popup context/properties menu) and other times it bombs miserable its extremely annoying to suffer this when I have to work on laptop for extended period of hours as it just keeps on happening. Can some one pls help?
Thanks in advance for taking time to read this

    Hi there:
    A suggestion -
    Do a hard reset first.
Power on laptop with AC power alone , removing battery.
Then try reloading BIOS to default settings
    Save, exit, continue loading Windows.
    Shut down.
Insert battery, power on with both plugged.
    Check.

  • Touchpad left click sticking

hello i need help i need hp to come and collect my computer for repair the has little wierd pixel line and the mouse right click keeps getting stuck what should i do . ive tried to email hp but it saying carnt find item
please help as i need it for school

So this means that touchpad hardware (touchpad buttons) are ok.
You should check if new touchpad software/driver installation would help you to get rid of this annoying issue.
In device manager you should firstly remove the touchpad device. Reboot the notebook and then install the touchpad driver once again.

  • S10 - Left click button below the touchpad is non-responsive....anyone else?

My left click button appears to no longer be responsive.  I've checked the buttons settings and it is set as primary, normal drag, etc......
It doesn't appear to be a problem with the button(hardware) as I still get a strong click action, just doesn't appear to process the click logically.
I searched the board and didn't find anything specific to this.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled the Synaptics touchpad driver but still nothing on the left click.......
    Thanks.
    Geoff

USB mouse works just fine.........left-click button, non-responsive........guess I'll open it up and check out the contact points.......

  • Touchpad left and right clicks don't work on Yoga 2 pro

    Hi,
I just bought a a yoga 2 pro. After setting up, I found that the two bottom keys, left and right keys on the trackpad do not work. Double tap also doesn't work. I reinstall the touchpad driver to no avail. Other gestures on the touchpad work fine, single tap registers as left click, two finger scroll also works. Also, when I use a blue tooth mouse, left and right key works fine.
I am not sure if this is a hardware problem as when I swipe on the area of the two bottom keys, they register the movement. Just not click. Anyone can help me?

    Hello,
I've had a Yoga2 Pro now for six months or so.  Just recently the left click stopped working correctly.  What I notice is that when holding down the left click button on the touch pad, and I try to drag a slider (like a volume slider or to drag a selection box or to drag a scroll box on a page, or to highlight text) and it stops holding down the click.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it keeps stopping.
Now, the right click is malfunctioning as well.  I press right click on something like an image, and nothing happens.  I have to right click on something 2-10 times now for it to register that I'm right clicking.
Also, should I be able to tap the touchpad with two fingers and have that be a right click, or am I just reading that I should be able to do that on the screen (which  can)?
I have downloaded the drivers for the y2p touchpad and the y2-13 and the generic ones from the synaptics webpage, but before I uninstall my drivers and try to install those, I want to be sure that is the correct and only possible fix.  I'm hoping its not a hardware malfunction.  I am running Win 8.1.
    Thank you.

  • Satellite C650D - left click on touchpad does not work

    Hi,
The left click on my touchpad has stopped working. It works *very* occasionally but mostly it doesn't. It also freezes the screen if I try to click it too often (in a fit of temper usually ;) )
A USB mouse works fine, which is okay when I'm working on my desk but means I can no longer use my laptop on my lap! The tap click does work, but I don't like using it.
I reinstalled the drivers and that hasn't solved it. I turned the laptop upside down and gave it a good shake to get rid of any crumbs etc under the mouse and that hasn't solved it either.
    Any other ideas?

    Hi
Could be possible that there is a mechanical problem with the touchpad button
Pressing the button too often might lead to the system freezing because of the CPU stress and load.
In my opinion the touchpad board or the single button (if possible) should be replaced.

  • Lenovo Thinkpad T420 trackpad and touchpad right/left click stopped working

So I have had a very... VERY... irritating problem with my Thinkpad.
For the first 6 or so months I had the laptop it worked fine. Then, the left click on the touchpad was functioning like the right click (bringing up a menu).
I immediately disabled the touchpad and then used the trackpad right and left clicks which worked perfectly.
After another 4 or 5 months, those buttons stopped working altogether. I could still use the touchpad to move the arrow, but I couldn't click on anything.
I bought an external USB mouse and that worked fine for another 2 months. Then for a few weeks, it would work on and off. I'd have to wiggle it around in the USB ports to get the laptop to recognize it. (it had nothing to do with the ports... there were 3 of them and they all worked fine).
Then it stopped working completely, AND, my laptop refuses to acknowledge ANY USB I plug in.
I have run out of options now. I can't even install anything, download any files from lenovo website. I can't do anything. Does anyone know if it is still salvageable? Has anyone had the same problem?
The lenovo digitizer for tablets.... would that work for this thinkpad? (sorry... not as tech savvy as the rest of you)
    Thanks a bunch,
    Amanda

Here was my solution to this. My left click button on both the trackpad and touch pad suddenly stopped working on me. After putting up with this for a few weeks I decided to investigate. I found if I disabled the touch pad the trackpad left click would start to work again. So I investigated by carefully popping off the left click button for touchpad. Everything looked normal, so I investigated a little father buy removing the small round blueish rubber piece in the middle of the button. Once I did this I realized it quite dirty, with a soft cloth and a toothpick I cleaned both the contacts on the PC and the the black spot on the rubber piece, putting everything back together and my left click worked once again.
The cause of my problem was just a build up of dirt under the rubber contact which caused the button to short out and disable itself.
I didn't have to reinstall any software or drivers.

  • Touchpad not working, left click acting like right

Hi - I apologize if this was already asked, but I couldn't find it. I have a G Series laptop (I'm at work so I don't have the specifics on me) and as of Friday night, out of nowhere, the touchpad stopped functioning properly. All clicks responded as if I had was right clicking. Needless to say, this was annoying. I tested all of my touchpad settings, uninstalled and reinstalled, tried new drivers, rolled back drivers, system restore, etc. and nothing worked. When I plug in a USB mouse, it still works perfectly, if that helps at all. But whenever I used the left click below the touchpad, it acts as a right click (however, the touchclick, or whatever it's called on the touchpad still works as a left click). I called and was given the advice you might expect...hard reset followed by a system recovery if that didn't work. The hard reset didn't work (big surprise), and I really don't want to lose my stuff; since I can still use the USB mouse, it's not the absolute end of the world. But I'm still irritated by it. It's a month away from the warranty being over, so I need to get moving on this. But I don't know how helpful HP is going to be with this (judging by their first bits of advice, not very). Any suggestions? This literally happened out of nowhere. I seem to remember this happening sometimes on my desktop, but that always managed to remedy itself by clicking some buttons, shutting down, etc. This time, that's not doing the trick. I'd appreciate any insight or help into this issue. Thanks very much!

Had the same problem, what I did works just as well but it's an adjustment. Go to touchpad settings (under 'Synaptics Touchpad v6.5')then click on buttons, manual for right mouse Instead of the normal right button setting, I switched it to button completely disabled.  Now your mousepad only recognises left clicking and if you want to use the right mouse button, you lick once with the touchpad on the item you want, then click the button on the right of 'alt gr' (on the left of 'ctrl')this has the same ability. Inias

  • Satellite Pro M40 - touchpad and left click repair guidance

    Hi,
I have a problem with the left click of my Satellite Pro M40 (PSM46E). It has lost the 'click'.
Does anyone have some guidance for taking the top off to repair? What screws and how etc?
    Many Thanks

    Hi!
I think you will not get some guides because only an ASP (authorized service provider) has someone. These documents are not for the public.
I dont know how to disassemble the notebook but this procedure is tricky. You must remove a lot of screws and parts like keyboard, LCD, upper cover and so far.
*You can try it and try but its your own risk*. I think this should do by a notebook technician.
By the way, I founded a maybe interesting article for you:

  • USB Mouse Left Click not working, DV6700

I have been using 2 hands to operate the simplist functions on my laptop.
I move the mouse around with my right hand but if I want to click something I have to use the left button under the mouse-pad.
HP support gave me a solution that worked for about an hour (Reset BIOS to default) .
The right click on the mouse (ANY USB mouse) works fine. Its just the select button.
    I hate this!
    HELP!!!

    To CLARIFY:
ANY USB Mouse that I plug into my (DV6700 HP Pavillion) Laptop--- the left click button doesnt work unless I hold it down for over a minute and move it around clicking on and off over and over. It can take 2 minutes before it actually clicks. So, I use the left button under the touch pad. That means its impossible to use this computer for games AND dragging and dropping is weird because I never got used to doing it with a touchpad.
I doubt I will ever buy another HP because of this. I HATE IT!!!
Other USB products act weird too.
I have also deleted all USB components in Control Panel and had windows reinstall them with the wizard.
It worked briefly (couple minutes) then was corrupted again.
Am I supposed to just throw this thing away?

  • Left click will not work

Hi I've been having trouble with my Satellite p755-s5390 (windows 7). It suddenly stopped being able to left click (and tapping to click as well), right click works and the pointer moves but using left click doesn't work at all, I've tried restoring to a previous date, reinstalling the touchpad driver, resetting things to default,  fn-f9 solution, I have a button that clicks on and off the touchpad as well but I've tried that and still nothing I have no idea. I'm pretty frustrated and wondering if anyone could help me out?

I would try an external USB mouse. One to verify that it's not some mouse settings problem. If the external mouse's left button works, but not the built-in one, I'd say this was a hardware problem. Call the Call Center and arrange to get it repaired.
