Touchpad making Firefox go "back", no matter what I do

I'll be in the middle of typing an important post, my hands somehow trigger the touchpad, and Firefox will go back a page, if not two or three, and I lose my post.
I've gone into about:config and removed many of the shortcuts. I've also got palmcheck all the way up on my touchpad and sensitivity about as low as possible.
What else can I do? I normally disable the touchpad and use a mouse, but if I forget, I can lose a post. I like the touchpad just fine. I do not like that it goes "back" in Firefox. I don't get why it's still doing this, despite my messing with the about:config.
I still have the two-finger vertical scrolling turned on, but I don't know why that would cause me to go "back".

This is fantastic! Already tested it out, and it works great. Thanks so much!
It doesn't fix the problem, but it does certainly take the edge off it. Beautiful. Thank you again!

Not sure if that helps
Side Switch You can use the Side Switch to lock screen orientation or to silence notifications and sound effects.
Lock the screen in portrait or landscape orientation: Go to Settings > General > “Use the Side Switch to...,” then tap Lock Rotation.
Mute notifications and other sound effects: Go to Settings > General > “Use the Side Switch to...,” then tap Mute. The Side Switch doesn’t mute audio or video playback. Use the volume buttons on the side to silence these sounds.
Lock the screen orientation: Double-click the Home button , swipe the multitasking bar from left to right, then tap the leftmost icon.

• I use MSNBC as my home page. Firefox has stopped accepting changes to my local news/weather section. It reverts back no matter what I do.

I did contact MSNBC. They says it's a firefox problem. I connected via explorer and WAS able to change and retain my changes. This is piddly but irritating. Trust me the weather in Anchorage (350 miles away) is not the same as here. Any ideas?

• I can't get more than one window of Firefox to open no matter what I try. Help!

I recently had a virus and had to do a system restore to about a month ago. After the restore everything worked okay, except for Firefox. Now I can't open more than one Firefox window at a time and the window that is open is having a bunch of problems (right clicking won't open things into tabs, the back button isn't working, etc.). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, but that did nothing.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

• My bookmarks just vanished. Now I can't bring them back no matter what I try.

One day I was adjusting my current window open so I could continue with my project.I don't know how but my bookmarks just vanished.I found where they are but I couldn't put them back where they belong. Why and how do I put them back?

Check that the Bookmarks Toolbar is visible and that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is still placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar.
If the menu bar is hidden then press F10 or hold down the Alt key, that should make the "Menu Bar" appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" (Linux, Windows)
* Check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette in the customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" or other items that are missing in the toolbar palette or on a toolbar then click the "Restore Default Set" button

• For a few days now, Firefox is crashing, no matter what I do or where I go. I've tried updating everything here, running virus checks, etc. and nothing is helping

I'm not really computer savvy, but the only thing I've noticed that is different here is whenever I type in a box, that area is now highlighted in blue. Wishing I could go back to older version of Firefox that I never had a bit of problems with!

• Firefox hangs continually no matter what do it even hung writing this question. I cant find a solution

ANytime I open firefox and go online to fill any form it hangs repeatedly. I have re installed, updated, reset, turned off hardware acceleration and many other so called fixes all to no avail. I m running a few month old windows 7 pc. As far as I can tell everything is up to date. How I manage to work around the problem is to open task manager by pressing alt, ctrl, del and then click cancel. In many cases functionality returns in many other cases it doesnt and I repeat this process until it does. Often when it doesnt fix the issue the screen is all black when I call up the task manager. I may call the task manager 10-15 times before it stops hanging. Does anyone have a clue what is happening or how I can find out. It has hung 6 times - 7 times on this form so far.

There is no live support, unless you go to a $$$$ site.
'''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode%20Safe%20Mode Safe Mode]''' is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off
hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables
add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away,
that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.
Its the same with the computer. If the issue continues, we know
one thing. If it is gone, it tells us something else.

Purchases will always download to the computer you are making the purchase from. However, you can set iTunes to automatically sync those purchases to one central comptuer, in your case your home server, so that the purchases will be available to all computers and devices on the network using Home Sharing.
Home Share Sync
Make sure Home Sharing is turned on and working between both computers. Home Sharing is turned on when your can see the name of the other computer in the sidebar of the iTunes window. The icon will look like a house with a musical note on the side. On the computer that will act as the central home server select on of the other Home Share computers in the sidebar then click on the 'Settings…' button on the bottom right-hand side of the iTunes window. In the 'Home Sharing Settings' dialogue box put a checkmark in the box for each type of media you want to have synced between computers. iTunes needs to be running on both computers for the sync to occur. If iTunes is not running at the time of the purchase, sync will occur the next time iTunes is running and can connect to the other computer.
Automatic Store Downloads
On the computer that will act as the central home server go to the iTunes preference panel and select Store on the toolbar. Put a checkmark in the box for the the media types you want to have automatically downloaded from the iTunes Store. Whenever purchases occur on any computer or device with the same iTunes Store account iTunes will automatically download the media to that computer. This method only works for Music, App and Book purchases.

• When i start firefox it starts playing a sound in the back round, no matter what pages i have loaded. If i close all but firefox home page it still plays the sound, this is when ever the browers is open.

Every time I start up Firefox a sound starts playing in the back round. If i change what pages are loaded it still plays, this happens when ever I load Firefox. It doesn't matter what web pages I have opened the sound still plays. I can still have other sound from web pages but this sound doesn't stop.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== Firefox crash

This just started after updating Cool Previews Beta we took the advice of turning off flash player which did stop the loud siren sound which starts as soon as I open up Firefox 3.6.3 I have noticed also lately Firefox will say an image couldn't be save due to not finding an image this just start a few days ago before Cool Previews update seem the only way to stop this siren sound is to turn flash player.
Never have had this problem before.. No warnings as far as system warnings using Vista 64 bit Windows Help this sounds is loud and blaring

• After firefox loads, the first web pulled in takes 4-5 minutes, then all the rest of the webs work normally. It doesn't matter what web i pull in first. I have norton360.

After Firefox loads the home page (google), the first web site I click in my bookmarks takes 4-6 minutes to come in. Clicking on screen makes it go half-tone until it loads. From then on, all other bookmarks come in fast. It doesn't matter what bookmark I load first, it always takes major minutes. I am using Norton 360 and have even disabled the security and web checking and it made no difference.

Okay, here's what I found out. Followed the above instructions...no joy. I think this maybe needs to be posted in a general OS forum, as I'm thinking this is more about that vs just being about iPhoto/iTunes. Here's what I tried and learned.
A new account allowed iPhoto to open up immediately. However, iTunes seemed a touch slow...not sure if that is just due to it being a new account. So, I deleted that account and moved on to the preferences instructions above.
I removed all preferences and placed them in a "preferences A" folder on the desktop. Launched iPhoto and got the exact same results. Super slow...took forever to open. Took forever to close. Same with iTunes.
So I placed all of the removed preferences back into the folder and decided to start launching and closing apps to see what's affected, what's not. Here are the findings.
iPhoto - The worst of all. Takes 4 minutes to open.
Mail - Opens fine, closes very slowly...apprx 1 minute
Calculator - This now opens incredibly slowly. Also noticed that the blue light below a launching app in the dock that seems to radiate was not radiating immediately....just sort of sat there. About a minutes passes, then it radiates for a second and calculator opens. Quitting is instant
Garageband - Launching is slooooow, quitting is instant.
Lightroom 3 - quitting is slow....quit results in upper-left menu items flashing once, then beach ball for about 30 seconds.
These apps check out perfectly fine with no problems launching or quitting: iCal, Safari, Firefox, Aperture, Photoshop (CS3), Illustrator (CS3), InDesign (CS3), Acrobat, Suitcase, Image Capture, Disk Utility, Text Edit, Photo booth, Final Cut Pro.
So I'm at a loss. This may be more of an OS issue, but figured I'd post here to follow up on the suggestions given. I think I'll pose a question in the OS forums. I'm thinking this might mean boxing up the iMac and making a trip to the genius bar. It's incredibly frustrating.

• While viewing web sites the screen suddenly jumps like it is resizing itself. Doesn't matter what site I'm on. Also I have to click links/back button at least 2 times to get it to respond.

While viewing web sites the screen suddenly jumps like it is resizing itself. Doesn't matter what site I'm on. Also I have to click links/back button at least 2 times to get it to respond. This has been happening ever since the last update.

Try the Firefox SafeMode.
''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.''
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
# You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
# Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.
