Touchpad Mouse Disappeared

Hi,
My Touchpad/mouse stopped working earlier today. It was working this morning and when I got home it wasn't.
I'm currently using a usb HID compliant mouse.
I have a Pavilion Dv4-4270us.
First I went to device manager and tried updating the drivers. Nada.
Restarted. Nada. Not only that, but the mouse disappeared from the device manager.
Downloaded Synaptics Driver from this model's page on HP's site. Installed. Nada.
Restarted. Nada.
Is there a physical button on the computer that shuts the mouse?
Does that make sense?
Otherwise, how do you suggest I get my mouse back?

I somehow lost connection to the touchpad mouse. How can I activate it again by use of the keyboard (I don't have any external mouse)?

As mentioned the touchpad can be disabled and enabled using the key combination FN+F9.
Usually if the touchpad has been disabled then a touchpad icon which appears in the task bar should contains a red crossed circle.
Check this.

Dual 23 inch mouse disappears on Left monitor only

Running Leopard 10.5.2 with Dual monitors. ATI Radeon 9800 card AGP on Dual G5 Mac 2.5 MHz
I can see everything fine on both monitors and can drag windows to both monitors. The only problem is that the mouse disappears on the left monitor. But if I'm good, I can grab windows there and move them (pain in the ***).. I just can't see the mouse !!!!
Can anyone help me here ?

We went through a similar discussion with the placement of the Dock with multiple displays, and found by experiment that the dock is placed on the specified edge of the main display (bottom, left, right), unless that edge was extended by an adjacent display along that edge, in which case the Dock was placed on the edge of the Extended Desktop.
I think Capt Fred is saying something similar for this as well.

Touchpad Mouse special functions?

I used to have Synaptics Touchpad Mouse driver on my previous HP. With such a driver one can set different functions on the devided areas of the touchpad.
For instance left bottom corner may work for Start-button and upper right for minimize current window. Is such a driver available for Touchpad T61 Notebook?
The red dot mouse is the worst I know for my neck pains and its killing me, as does the unfunctional touchepad.

Hit CTRL + ALT + DEL. Go to task manager. Go to the synaptic touchpad icon, right click and press End Task. Problem solved.

R61 windows 7 touchpad mouse

Hej, i just installed windows 7 on my old r61. Mostly working fine. But Touchpad / Mouse are not reacting to some buttons / links in internet but also in some windows opend by some programs. Which is annoying.
what I already tried / with no success
- change the driver to an older version
- bought a win 7 compatible mouse.
As I'm not the computer person it may be due to some missing program. If you have an idea, I would really be pleased.

Tecra S3 - touchpad mouse freezes

Sometimes, under some CPU load (but not all the times and not with 100% CPU load), the touchpad mouse controler freezes (or moves with lag) at some given point on screen and it starts to work again after several seconds (20 or 30sec). However, accupoit mouse controller does not suffer this type of symptom as any other external mouse controler.
Any ideas on this issue?

i know the difference between cpu load and freezing touchpad! it's a problem that very one that owns a S2 know! if you have doubt, just open the task manager and keep it open and it will show you the cpu load.

Replacing Touchpad/Mouse buttons on CQ60- 212EM

Hi
I have a CQ60 212EM laptop which is passed its warranty date and I live in the UK. One of the mouse buttons on the touchpad is getting stiff to press ie it doesn't 'click'. It will fail eventualy I think. Is it possible to buy a replacement touchpad/mouse buttons (I assume they are integrated in one unit)?
Can I buy a new unit in the UK and who would I contact?
Any information about the part no. or scourcing a new one would be appreciated .

You could try a Linux Live CD. That would tell you if it's a hardware or software issue.

Touchpad mouse

Although I have checked the box to disable the touchpad mouse when a USB mouse is attached it does not disable when the USB mouse is attached. Any one else have this issue and been able to resolve it. When I first got laptop this feature worked, but I recently had to reset the laptop and have not been able to set it to automatically disable to touchpad when the usb mouse is connected.

I understand that after resetting the notebook you no longer see an option to automatically disable the touchpad when a usb mouse is connected. Here is a link to HP Notebook PCs - Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 8) that should help you locate that option.

LAPTOP TOUCHPAD MOUSE KEEPS FREEZING

Hi,
My HP Pavilion laptop (Product No E6G16PA#ABG running MS Windows 8.1 64 bit) touchpad mouse keeps intermittently freezing sometimes for periods of a minute or two. I have no problems if I use a usb mouse it seems just to be an issue with the touchpad mouse. It would be appreciated if you could help me fix this annoying and frustrating problem.

Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forums. First thing you may want to try is a system restore back before the problem started happening.
You may have had an update that caused this.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)
The next step would be to download the software and drivers for your system. Once you have them downloaded boot into safe mode and uninstall the system drivers. You may have to reboot between each one and remember to boot into safe mode each time.
Once you have this done boot into windows normally and install the drivers starting with the Chipset first. Do not install any other driver until you have installed the chipset.

If this fails to resolve the issue make sure you back up all your data and then do a full system recovery.

Hp 2000 laptop touchpad mouse will not work

I have had this laptop approx a year and no problems. The other day I went to log online and the mouse worked to get to the icon but after that it freezes. I have reset my computer several times and ran my anti virus but I keep getting the same result. I have used this computer maybe 20 times since I have had it. Please help me. Also there is an orange light on that is next to the touch pad that stays on, that is new.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions. I have looked into the issue you are having with your touchpad mouse. Have you tried plugging in an external mouse? First thing I want to address is the orange LED that is next to the touchpad. The orange LED indicated on the touchpad has been turned off. You can turn it back on by double tapping the corner of the touchpad where the LED is (usually top left corner). Here is a document that has some troubleshooting steps, shows you the LED area, and how to turn it on/off. To test if it is hardware or software please follow these steps below: Boot into safe mode by tapping F8 at start up, and see if you are still having the problem. This should tell us if it’s the hardware or software. After a while in safe mode if you don't have the problem open command prompt and run the following command SFC /scannow. This should correct any software errors. Here is a link to get to command prompt. Please re-post with the results of these troubleshooting steps and your Model Number (How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?) Thanks!

Mouse freeze or mouse disappear

Anyone have there mouse freeze whan applications are terminated?
Anyone have there mouse disappear in documents or when entering data in web fields?

Mouse doesn't disappear, but it often freezes (it is democratic, because it freezes with apple's e non-apple's applications). The only chance I have is to shut down the computer. After the restart of the system, sometimes I had to restore from backup mail and/or iTunes ("the folder seems damaged") and Safari settings. Sometimes I had to repair not only disk permissions, but the disk, too. The freezing succeeds with Apple's and non-Apple' mouses, on iMac and on iBook. No crash log appears.
It seems to me that this freezing begun after 10.4.6 realize: may be a patch is necessary to solve this .....

Mouse disappears

mouse disappears after closing a program. could nothing do only to shut down the macbook with the on/off button. can anybody help?

Yes it is most annoying! The issue is also covered in these two recent topic threads the problem seems to be the way a web-site is coded & the way Safari renders it, at least that is what I have found when I have checked the sites with the http://validator.w3.org/ just copy & paste the url into the field & click "check", if you are interested in checking.
For me the curser disappears close to the toolbar by the back & forth buttons, as it seems to for others.

I have a problem: when I press a button in the keyboard I can't move the touchpad (so I can't use,for example,games because I can't move the the view of the character)

Your issue might be similar to this thread.
If your PC came with a Synaptics Touchpad, can you try to:
1. Go to the Control Panel (large icon view) then > click Mouse > Device Settings tab > Settings
2. Under the Synaptics Settings, go to Pointing > Sensitivity > Palmcheck and set the palm sensitivity to minimum and test the game.

3. Adjust the PalmTracking option under Additional Tab on the ELAN Smart Pad settings to the minimum (see spoiler)
4.If same problem, press WindowsKey+R then type appwiz.cpl. From the program list, uninstall lenovo pointing device, reboot.the PC and test (you can re-install this later by nagvigating to D:\Drivers\Touchpad).

Touchpad, Mouse, USB not working

On 7/09/15 an HP update did not install items. Mouse and touchpad as well as usb stopped working. Mouse is Bluetooth. Drivers won't install. Touchpad drivers were reinstalled and did not work. Usb ports won't recognize anything plugged into them and won't install any drivers. Tried dinstalling chipset and it didn't work. Tried uninstalling all usb drivers but this didn't correct the issue .Tried changing ease of access to use the keypad to control the cursor but that doesn't work. Could a settings change have done this? I keep getting a notification for a split second saying settings were changed . Any help would be appreciated.

Hi! I know this is a very old post and forum theme (the hp 6220 is a bit old...) but i have one and it works fine after i changed the motherboard and i make it run with windows 7 , the wireless driver was so difficult to make it work but i succeeded, its ok now.
My problem is the touchpad, it dosen't works at all...nothing?! In device manager it says working properly but dosent. Is there something to do to configure or something like that while i replaced the whole motherboard. The cables are ok, its connected to the right connector and the touchpad was working on the old motherboard. If you could give me some advice / trick or something to make it work. Thanks in advance!

New Toshiba Laptop with Windows 8 mouse disappears

I received a Toshiba Satellite Laptop for Christmas and it is running Windows 8. I started using it and it worked fine, but I started using Internet Explorer and the mouse froze, but I could still use my keyboard to get back to the start-page and move around with the up/down/left/right keys. My mouse was no where to be found on the start-page. I used the ctrl-alt-delete to log out, and then when the log-in screen came up my mouse reappeared and seemed to be working again. I logged back in and my mouse worked for a few seconds, then disappeared. I did the same things over and over again a few times, and either the mouse was nowhere to be found from the get-go, or it worked for a bit then disappeared once I started doing things. I shut down, and restarted multiple times. Any fix for this problem? If it is a Windows 8 problem I am very disappointing at the moment with the software Thank you, and happy holidays.

This may be the one i sold - but what we found was that the F5 key brought the mouse back . I am not sure how it happened in the first place. But F5 is "refresh" . this is a POOR choice for a function key that disables the mouse, since now to get the FUNCTION for f5, you need to press fn and F5 . If you hit just f5 like we used to, it will disable the mouse ... hmmmmmm. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
