Hi @AD1970 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP  ENVY TouchSmart 15t-j100 Notebook and mouse freezing. Here is a document on how to troubleshoot the mouse and Touchpad sensitivities. I would think that resetting the defaults back to original on the left side would help you out.
Please let me know.

May be ok for some time but then they both have a mind of their own to the point that I cannot use my laptop.  A reboot may he
P, but the. It's only a matter of time before it starts again.  Help!  This is so ridiculous  problem for such an expensive laptop...and it's not even 2 years old!

ok, I just turned off the trackpad and the mouse is acting perfectly fine...so its definitely limited to the trackpad.  Is there anything I can do, or is this simply a need to replace the trackpad?  Again, this is very disheartening since this laptop is well cared for and it should never have such a simple hardware failure.  Is it possible that I just need to replace/update the driver?
Also, for those that may ask...I only started using the mouse when the trackpad started acting goofy....so its not because I had both operational.
    Thanks.

  • Touchpad doesn't work properly after using of mouse.

On my macbook air I usually use touchpad only. But I use mouse to play games.
Sometimes when I do it, then exit the game, touchpad stops to work properly.
Mainly it works like usual, I can open files, close windows, follow links in Safari. But I can not close tabs (the x-mark doesn't apper). Also I can't select text with touchpad (only one work, by double clicking). Also I can't open sites via top sites panel, by clicking on them - only with keyboard. Probably there more small, but unpleasant things?
    What can I do?
Reboot does help, but I don't want to reboot each time I play a game...

If you installed any software to work with the mouse, remove it according to the developer's instructions, then restart the computer and test. Back up all data before making any changes.

  • Since installing Lion, I have not been able to utilize Time Machine (does not recognize the back-up drive); my wireless mouse does not function properly; I have experienced unreasonable delays in the system.  Is there a fix or upgrade coming?

Is there a fix or upgrade to deal with the many problems I am experiencing since I installed Lion?  I can no longer utilize Time Machine (Does not see the back-up drive); my wireless mouse does not work properly; my iMac has slowed down considerably.  I am reminded of having a PC machine again.  Bummer!

Either downgrade to Snow Leopard or try reinstalling Lion.
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • Trackpad won't move curser mouse does. Left and right click working fine

    Hello everyone,
I have a problem. Out of nowhere my trackpad won't move the curser anymore. Connecting a USB mouse does. Left and right click are still working fine. Any ideas of how to fix it?
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hey there DaveDaMac,
It sounds like your built in track pad is not responding at all, but your USB mouse works without issue. I recommend the troubleshooting in this article for you named:
Intel-based Mac notebooks: Troubleshooting unresponsive trackpad issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1248
Try disconnecting the MagSafe connector from the computer and check the trackpad function. If the trackpad becomes responsive again, improper grounding may be the issue.
If a two-prong AC plug is being used with the power adapter, try using the three-prong power cable that shipped with your computer and plug it into a grounded outlet.
If the issue persists, make sure the third prong is present and do not use an adapter to enable the three-prong adapter to be used in a two-prong outlet. Note that the ground in the three-prong outlet may not be connected. This is common in older homes or buildings with replaced outlets. In these situations, the three-prong power cable will not improve trackpad responsiveness.
If a grounded outlet is not available, rest your palm on the palm rest when using the trackpad. This should enable the trackpad to function properly.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

  • Mighty Mouse does not work right with my macbook why?

I have a macbook 2.2 ghz intel core 2 duo and i am running 1.5.8 When I connect my mighty mouse to my macbook it seems to work fine. But for some reason I can not use the right click and when I try to scroll up and down using my finger in the middle of the mouse it does nothing. But when I connect the mouse to my new Imac it works just fine. Why is this?

    Hey Matt,
Have you run Software Update since you got the mouse? The system requirements state:
    System Requirements
Mac computer with Bluetooth wireless technology
Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0* or Mac OS X v10.6.1 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0
Existing keyboard and mouse for setup
    Two AA batteries (included)
    http://www.apple.com/magicmouse/
You probably need the Wireless Mouse Software Update in order for the mouse to function properly.

  • Touchpad Mouse special functions?

I used to have Synaptics Touchpad Mouse driver on my previous HP. With such a driver one can set different functions on the devided areas of the touchpad.
For instance left bottom corner may work for Start-button and upper right for minimize current window. Is such a driver available for Touchpad T61 Notebook?
The red dot mouse is the worst I know for my neck pains and its killing me, as does the unfunctional touchepad.

Hit CTRL + ALT + DEL. Go to task manager. Go to the synaptic touchpad icon, right click and press End Task. Problem solved.

  • Tecra S3 - touchpad mouse freezes

Sometimes, under some CPU load (but not all the times and not with 100% CPU load), the touchpad mouse controler freezes (or moves with lag) at some given point on screen and it starts to work again after several seconds (20 or 30sec). However, accupoit mouse controller does not suffer this type of symptom as any other external mouse controler.
    Any ideas on this issue?
Thanks in advance for your support.

    my friend
i know the difference between cpu load and freezing touchpad! it's a problem that very one that owns a S2 know! if you have doubt, just open the task manager and keep it open and it will show you the cpu load.

  • Touchpad Mouse Disappeared

    Hi,
My Touchpad/mouse stopped working earlier today. It was working this morning and when I got home it wasn't.
I'm currently using a usb HID compliant mouse.
    I have a Pavilion Dv4-4270us.
First I went to device manager and tried updating the drivers. Nada.
Restarted. Nada. Not only that, but the mouse disappeared from the device manager.
Downloaded Synaptics Driver from this model's page on HP's site. Installed. Nada.
    Restarted. Nada.
Is there a physical button on the computer that shuts the mouse?
    Does that make sense?
Otherwise, how do you suggest I get my mouse back?

    Hello ShmungerWOS,

  • Touchpad mouse

Although I have checked the box to disable the touchpad mouse when a USB mouse is attached it does not disable when the USB mouse is attached. Any one else have this issue and been able to resolve it. When I first got laptop this feature worked, but I recently had to reset the laptop and have not been able to set it to automatically disable to touchpad when the usb mouse is connected.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I understand that after resetting the notebook you no longer see an option to automatically disable the touchpad when a usb mouse is connected.  Here is a link to HP Notebook PCs - Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 8) that should help you locate that option.
    Good Luck!

  • Touchpad gestures not working properly on Z510 with W8.1

I think that the problem is that if I go to settings/ mouse and touchpad, it does not recognise that I have a precision touchpad so I can't change anything. The major thing that is missing is edge swipe and of course pinch etc.
It used to work ok but suddenly did not.
    Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion and that is exactly what I should have done when I discovered it. Unfortunately, I let it slide (3 months) which is too many updates ago.
You can actually go back to whatever date through restore unless you have done some cleaning up. Another approach is to go to safemode and uninstall the touchpad driver. Then reinstall it.
If the above don't work you can check/repair the system for file corruption by running (without quotation mark) the following: "sfc /scannow & dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth".
If still it can't be solve do a backup of all your personal files. Shutdown the unit. Press the NOVO button and select System Recovery from the menu. Select Restore to Factory condition.

  • Compaq Presario mouse isnt working properly

Im having certain issues with my touchpad. i jsut brought this computer about a week ago and sometimes areas of the touchpad doesnt bothering working. At some points and times the whole pad works but after a few minutes of not touching it it just stop working and only part of teh touchpad works. its very weird. the only area i can move the mouse after it freezes up is under the touchpad light where u can turn it off. only that area under it. ive tried windows update for synaptics touchpad/mosue drivers; ive tried device manage and select update, and also tried from teh site witht he highest selectable firmware.usually if i restart ,close the lid, or reset device it works fully again, but i dont wanna waste my time with a touchpad that wont wrok properly. i have to say compaq presario is a very nice laptop and i wouldnt want to take it back which the store i got it from ran out of stock. I just want to find a solution first incase i have to return it back.

  • TS3048 my magic mouse does not want to right click anymore?

My magic mouse does not seem to right click anymore, any suggestions?  For example, I used to right click on my icon of my memory card from the camera that I have inserted into the side of the IMac and I could choose "eject" now it doesn't want to right click and open up those options.  Am I doing something wrong?

    Hey.
This seems to be a common issue.
I've seen mixed posts on the net about the ES8000 working with the Apple Keyboard but from what I've seen the Apple mouse tends to fail the sync constantly.
Sad, I just bought a mouse to improve navigasting on the ES8000 and dissapointed that it doesn't sync. Maybe an issue with drivers on the TV.
Which Dell mouse (model number) works for you?

  • Wireless mouse does not work

my wireless mouse batteries formed buildup around them. Now my mouse does not work, is there a way to make it work after this happens?

When checking your mouse or keyboard batteries, assuming the mouse is paired.
    Turn off the device.
    Remove the batteries,
Thoroughly clean the terminals both inside the battery compartment and on the batteries themselves.
    Replace or renew the batteries.
Turn on the device.   You should get a steady green light if the devices are paired.
Click the mouse twice to activate it.
Whether you use regular or rechargeable batteries you should buy the best. Discounted or unbranded batteries are likely to give a depleted performance and may be of irregular size, often leading to connection problems.   Apple’s own brand, Duracell, Energiser and appear to be the best.
