Touchpad no longer scrolls screen. Using bars area on rhs of touchpad used to scroll screen.

After following PC Mag article on speeding up a very slow PC. I find I am now unable to scroll using my touchpad. Although this is not a major problem, it is bothersome when using the laptop where a mouse can't be used.
All the other functions of the touchpad still function correctly.
I am unable to go back to a previous restore point. This has not worked for a very long time now.
Any ideas?

Hi @ricstra44
Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a superb  place to find answers and ideas!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I see that after following PC Mag article on speeding up a very slow PC you have lost the ability to scroll with your Touchpad.
Have you tried running  MS Fix It  to help overcome this difficulty?
Here is a link to Using and Configuring the TouchPad (Windows 7 and Vista) that may help.
Next I would  would delete the driver and try  reinstalling  the original drivers using the HP Backup and Recovery Manager.
To launch the Backup and Recovery Manager on Vista, restart the PC and immediately press F11.
On the Recovery Manager window, click Advanced options
Click Reinstall original device drivers.
You can then select the synaptics TouchPad driver.
Here is a link to  HP Notebook PCs - Availability of Software and Drivers for Vista  that may help with obtaining updated drivers.
If this has not helped then I suggest you do a recovery back to factory.

Once you have completed that process here is a link  to   Improving System Performance without Adding Memory for HP Notebook PCs (Windows Vista)

  • Since the latest version of itunes, my playlists are "too large" to fit on the computer screen.  I can no longer scroll down because the far right side of the screen is too far over.  How can I minimize the screen or be able to scroll down my list?  Thx!

Since the latest version of itunes, my playlists are too large to fit on the screen. The left side, with all my playlists is still there, but  I can no longer scroll down the chosen playlist as the far right is no longer accessible.  Any suggestions on how to minimize the list?  Thanks.

I have the same problem on the latest iTunes software and Windows 7. My window is maximzed and I do not see any tab for photos. Seems related to a recent update (IOS7?) as this was there - at least before the very big change to the interface.

  • Touchpad no longer scrolls up and down on Satellite A

So my HD crashed and i have to completely install Windows and all the Toshiba stuff with it a new.
All is well - except for one thing, my touchpad no longer scrolls up and down using the side of it in IE or Chrome, but it still works in SeaMonkey.
My Computer technician tells me it's an issue with getting some new driver for the touchpad, and i think i had to do that already about a year ago when i still had my original HD running.
So i went to the Toshiba.ch website and tried to find something.
I found all their "verfication" stuff and got inside the system and it instantly returned about 45 drivers by the looks of my "un"-driving eyeys they all could have been for whatever, so i searched especially for "touch pad" and yes, there was one for my Synapsis touchpad and XP as well, so i downloaded it - or i should say i opened it in Win Zip and checked first on the "readme file - wow, that was some Portugese in there, and that's when i kind of begun to feel lost.
I check in at Toshiba.ch, get a ton of drivers in my face i have no clue whether i am supposed to download them all or what, and when i finally pick what i think i need the whole thing seems to be in Portugese, what the crickey in the afternoon is this???
Anyway, before i download and try to install stuff i have no clue about i was hoping someone would actually give me a better hint on what i have to do exactly to get my touchpad to scroll up and down again also in Chrome, IE and where ever else.
I use Service Pack 3 on Win XP Pro and was told that's maybe why the old original driver for this laptop needs to be updated, but which file, where to get it, and how to properly install it please anyone???

Thanks for that, you confirm what i actually found out myself in the meantime.
The way i got this issue solved was that i first tried to download and install the Synaptics driver from the Toshiba site - that simply failed miserably, glad with no negative side effects at least.
Nesxt i used what unfortunately is way easier that sites like the Toshiba overload, i used Google to simply find the Synaptics website and instantly got the link to their driver download - eh voila, that actually gave me a .exe file, not an endless array of zipped files like the stuff on the Toshiba site in endless language versions!!!
This worked, tested everything out alread since a while.
    - Which now leaves me with the question about the second driver you mentioned,
    Alps Electric
what is that one needed for??
I have not seen this name on my lappy before, so totally unsure about whether it still needs this dispite things are working everywhere, i did not even have to go into the Device Settings of the Mouse / touchpad to change or rearrange anything in there after the direct download from Synapsis, but well informed is always best, so if you could let me know about that
    Alps thing would appreciate...

  • Satellite P series - I can no longer scroll using edge of the touch pad

Please can anyone tell me why I can no longer scroll using the edge of the touch pad.
This seems to have occurred since I had to reinstall Vista following a problem with some faulty Ram.
    Thanks

    Hi
One reason can be a missing touchpad driver.
But if the touchpad driver has been installed, then you should check the settings of the touchpad.
In control panel -> mouse you will find the touchpad properties. It should be the last tab.
There you can check enable and disable and configure many options.
    Cheers

    * If the menu bar is hidden then press and hold the Alt key down, that should make the Menu bar appear (Firefox 3.6 on Windows) (see [[Menu bar is missing]]).
    * Make sure that you have the ''Navigation Toolbar'' and other toolbars visible: View > Toolbars .
    * If items are missing then see if you can find them in the View > Toolbars > Customize window.
    * If you see the item in the Customize window then drag it back from the Customize window to the Navigation toolbar.

i updated from PS CC to PS CC 2014 and now my plug-ins are no longer available to use. how do I get them back?  I can no longer navigate to the NIK collection, my Topaz plug-ins, etc.  They still are accessible on LR, but they don't seem to now be accessible on PS CC 2014

For Topaz, cop the shortcuts from Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photshop CC\plug-ins  to the same folder in Photoshop CC 2014
    I don't know about Nik

  • How do you tell if the advanceddatagrid scroll bars are showing?

How do you tell if the advanceddatagrid scroll bars are showing? This is because the grid crashes when mouse scroll events are firing when theres not enough data so that scroll bars are not showing

Basically when you have enough data in a datagrid so that it cannot all be displayed at once, you have the scrollbars showning allowing you to scroll. When you can see all the data or rows at once you cannot see the scrollbars. What I need to test for is whether these SB's are currently showning.
    Hope that is clearer.

You will likely get better program help in a program forum
The Cloud forum is not about using individual programs
The Cloud forum is about the Cloud as a delivery & install process
If you will start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use

    What is your LabVIEW version?
All the above responses only apply if your front panel does NOT contain splitter bars. Once you have splitter bars, things get a bit more complicated and you can easily create a situation where the scroll bars are also off in edit mode and the VI properties cannot get them back directly.
What you need to do is right-click in the splitter bar and select e.g. right pane (or whatever) as follows:

  • I can no longer scroll in Word

I can no longer scroll through a document in Word, can someone tell me how to fix it?

you have provided minimal information in your question. to help, we need lots!
what version of Word? -  Apple Menu > About Microsoft Word
what has changed since this began? update / upgrade software - system or App?
have you updated Yosemite to version 10.10.*1* ? -- in the Finder -  Apple Menu > About this Mac
to clarify, scrolling is normal in all other App & Finder windows?
In Word, are the scroll bars 'present' (visible)?
if present, are all scroiling functions failing?
              mouse click
arrows - both 'fine' and 'page' <-(my Word version has its own scroll unique button versions, separate from System)
up, down, left, right - (last two depends on Zoom of page)
in the blank areas of the scroll bars - 'page' or 'jump to here' as set in System Prefs *(see OS X Yosemite: General preferences )
click, hold & drag the scroll BAR itself
does the page scroll using the arrow keys?
when the text cursor moves past the visible portion of the document page?
when using key combination - fn Function + 'up' or 'down' and/or fn Function + 'left' ('Home' or top of page) & 'right' ('End' or bottom of page)

  • Long blank screen on startup

I have a 2012 Mac Mini i7 with 10.9.2.  This morning when I rebooted, it did not work right and I just saw static on my monitor.  I manually turned off the Mac Mini then restarted it.  It boots fine now but now I have a long blank screen after the chime and before it asks for my password.  I reset my SMC and PRAM a few times but no change.  I reselected my Macintosh HD in the Startup disk too.  It is like it is timing out looking for something and then after about two minutes it goes to my Macintosh HD for the password.  So it boots up fine now except for this new long pause.  Before it would go to the password almost immediately after the chime.
Any other thoughts on what I should do?  Thanks.
    Doug

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged after the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
For example, if the problem is a slow startup taking three minutes, post the messages timestamped within three minutes  after the boot time, not before. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the beginning of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post any other kind of diagnostic report, such as hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • I can no longer scroll on my iMac in Mavericks

For some reason completely unknown to me, I suddenly can no longer scroll, or even see scrollbars on my iMac, running Mavericks. It's been perfectly fine for months and just yesterday...poof! No scrolling.
At first I thought it was limited to Safari, but then noticed it's for all browsers and all programs on my computer.
Can anyone please help me with this? The only searches I've done show articles at least two years old.
P.S. I can "scroll" with the up-down arrow keys, but not with a mouse of any kind (wired or wireless), and the scroll bars do not appear until I use the arrow keys.
    27", Late 2012 iMac
    OS X 10.9.3

Leroy, this has to be the single most embarrassing thing I've ever done on a computer.
    The restart worked.
In my own lame defense, I had just restarted my iMac prior to this occurring, so I figured the last thing that would fix this would be another restart.
I know you can't see it, but my head is hanging in shame!
Thank you for mentioning the restart. I'm always telling people to reboot before doing anything else, and this time, I should have done it myself.
I'm going to go hide under a rock for a while.
    Thanks again!

  • The selections for synching music or artists no longer scrolls, so I can't select individual artists beyond the first few artists. How do I enable scrolling again?

The ability to scroll through individual artists or albums and select certain ones to synch no longer scrolls, so I am unable to select any but th first few. This feature used to scroll. The problem it creates is I don't have enough storage to synch the entire music library, but now can't select certain artists to synch. I have updated to the lastest version of iTunes and it didn't help.

I am using windows Vista and having this problem also (not exactly, but iTunes gives pop-up that "files are in use"). Acting a suggestion from another answer in this thread, I clicked on Computer and selected eject...windows did warn me that the device was in use, but also gave me a CONTINUE button, which I clicked and it was ejected...had to go back to iTunes and eject the iPod there also, but it did eject
