Touchpad now working (not detected)

Good day,
Since a week (maybe kernel 3.3.2 update, not sure) ago my touchpad stopped working (at all). I have attempted googling many times but could not fix it (neither do I found a bug in arch or anywhere for that). Today (kernel 3.3.3) it got working twice after restarts (out of nowhere), but no more.
What I've found is that it seem to not be detected (or it's detected as something completely different that doesn't even get close to a touchpad). It doesn't show up in Xorg.0.log, nor dmesg, nor in /proc/bus/input/devices.
Please, suggest where to dig - will provide more information (logs) if not enough.
Below are attached the logs after a fresh restart (touchpad not working):

hi all,
I was able to fax and get a connection now. My next question is, in the network preference I see the internal modem red dot showing it's configured but not connected. Shouldn't it be green or does it matter? Your input will greatly be appreciated.

The function AirDrop on my Mac BookAir seems not to work, not detect my iPad. How to fix this?

AirDrop on iOS devices (iPads, iPhones, iPod touches) can only AirDrop things with other iOS devices. AirDrop on Mac can only AirDrop things with other Macs.
I hope this solves your question.

  • Just update iTunes to 10.6.0.40. Now does not detect my iPhone. Tried restart, different USB port. Now what?

Just updated iTunes to 10.6.0.40. Now it does not detect my iPhone (prompt says reconnect, could not detect). Tried restarting and different USB port. What next asside from system restore with my Windows 7.Cannot Sync or get photos. Have 3Gs with os4.

I removed iTunes completely, then reinstalled. Still not identifying phone. When iPhone connected, prompt says "iPhone detected, could not be identified properly. Unplug and try again." Still not working.
Tried by installing previous version of iTunes (10.5.0.142) which did worked. Would not open iTunes because it had been previously installed with a newer version.
Sucessfully reinstalled ver 10.6.0.40 again. Then tried again by removing iTunes, iCloud and QuickTime. Reinstalled iTunes 10.6.0.40 and same problem, detected iPhone but could not identify properly. What next?

  • Zen Micro Touchpad Wont Work (not lock

. I have reset and can get to the recovery screen and also to the Play Music area but the keys wont work at all. I have unlocked it, it does not show that it is locked. Iam at a lost, I downloaded drivers, firmware updates and everything I could think of. Is there anything Im missing, please help Im at a loss.Sherry

It seems like a basic factory defect with your touchpad to me...
I'd contact the Creative Customer Support to get the player fixed or replaced... If its still under the warranty you would only have to pay the minimal shipping cost to send it back to creative... They would pay the rest...
Head to the Warranty / Returns page that is under the main support part of the site, it should have all the info you need about contacting customer support...

  • T440s webcam not working; not detected in the first place

You know what's funny, this is my second laptop in a row from Lenovo that misses a piece of hardware.
I initially bought a T440p and it came without wireless! I don't mean missing driver or anything, it was actually without a physical wireless card (although the spec on the box included it); no wireless in BIOS, device manager, etc. So I returned it and decided to get a T440s this time.
Not to mention each of these orders took a whole month.
The T440s has no webcam. Again, it's in the spec of what I oredered and it says so on the box. I spent hours searching for solutions, and you know how exhausting and irritating that is.
Solutions I see are either enabling it in BIOS (under Security), in Lenovo Settings app (changing from private to normal), removing and updating driver, etc. But none works. There is no camera in Lenovo Settings app. There is none in BIOS. There is no Imaging Device in Device Manager. When I try to install the driver that I downloaded from the lenovo website, it says "No Target Module". So at the end I'm confident it's the hardware.
What are the odds. Two brand new, crappy laptops in a row. Lost faith in Lenovo already, hence sharing this shameful story with you.

Very strange, according to the MT-M lookup, it should have a camera.  BTW, that last "O" in your MT-M is actually a "0" - a zero.  Took a while to figure that one out.

Could you recommend me a splitter that would do the task?
All I can suggest is to check with the manufacturers to see how their splitters decide what display format info to send to the source. I think the best solution for you would be one that senses when only one display is powered up & automatically switches to providing its format info whenever that happens (IOW, not just when the displays are first connected or powered up). But I don't know which ones specifically do that.
Keep in mind that whenever both displays are operating, the splitter must send the Mini the format info of the least capable one or you would not be able to use both at the same time. (IOW, if the TV can only support up to 1920x1080, then the Dell must also be able to support that resolution & both will operate in that format.)
Regarding using the Thunderbolt port, if the Thunderbolt HD has two ports, you may be able to daisy chain its second port to one of the displays with a Mini DisplayPort adaptor, but I am not sure the Mini can support one display connected to its HDMI port & another connected to its Thunderbolt port. The only info I can find about that isn't clear if the HDMI port can be used at the same time a Thunderbolt port is supplying video, or even if the Mini's Thunderbolt port will work with a Thunderbolt to HDMI adaptor. Apple's info only says the Thunderbolt port will support "up to two" Thunderbolt displays.
With all this uncertainty, if it were me I would only buy the splitter and/or adaptors from a source that offers a "no questions asked" money back guarantee, ideally a local one to avoid the delays of sending back anything that doesn't work well for you.

  • Qosmio G10-133 - Battery not detected following Windows 7 upgrade

Hello, I hope someone can help my frustrations here.
Over the last couple of weeks I have successfully upgraded my laptop to Windows 7, increased memory to 2gb, purchased new laptop power lead, brand new battery and and resolved every issue that Windows 7 threw at me. The laptop and works like a dream other than one issue that seems to have got worst.
The laptop no longer recognises the new battery.(picture of battery with cross through it and a power plug) For approximately a week after installing the battery it worked okay but now will not detect it all. I have no errors in the device manager and windows has recognised the ACPI battery entries etc and has no issues. I have also loaded the Toshiba value added package that Windows 7 found for me but still nothing. The battery does not even charge although sometimes the battery works for around 30 secs on boot up if the battery is removed and put back in, and then stops again (once Windows has loaded) I have tried numerous things like disabling driver, reinstalling battery etc but nothing. I did try the battery iniitally with Windows XP and worked fine.
I have also searched the web and have seen many other laptops with Windows 7 have had this problem, including Toshibas. Some say update the BIOS but Toshiba have not released an upgrade since the original one in 2004 (which is for WIn XP Media Center) and there are no settings in my BIOS for ACPI etc.
Also, I cannot calibrate the battery as I cannot do anything with it. I dont think this is an issue though.
If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it or any links to any drivers etc.
If this is sorted my laptop should last for another 5 years!
    Thanks for reading this.
    Dickie

    Hi
First of all I doubt that many other notebooks with Windows 7 have this issue. I never heard about this and normally the battery charging will not be controlled from the OS. It happens automatically and your battery will be charged if the AC/DC is plugged in. So the OS doesnt affect this!
To be honest I also dont know why your battery isnt detected but what happens if you power off the notebook and leave the AC/DC adaptor connected for 24 hours? After this it should be possible to work on battery minute for 1 hour or more.
If not it seems to be a hardware issue Maybe the battery doesnt work properly anymore and should be replaced. You should contact the dealer where you purchased it
By the way: Here are some nice and interesting tips about battery:

  • PC and phone not detecting each other

Basically I tried to connect my mother's n70 to my computer (vista Ultimate 32bit) using the CA-53 cable. However I was just given the prompt unknown device installed, and PC Suite was not detecting anything. So basically I had no choice but to just abandon it and try to connect my phone (5800) to the PC. However, the phone now does not detect being connected to the PC, and Ovi Suite cannot detect the phone as well. Trying it out on PC Suite, it gives me the error "No connection type available, wizard will now close" or something along those lines.
Its the first time this has happened to me so I have no clue. I've already tried repairing, and uninstall reinstall but still nothing.
    Advice would be appreciated.
Oh yeah, anyone knows of a way to get a hold of the actual files of the messages and contacts synced to Ovi Suite?
If you find my post helpful please click the green star on the left under the avatar. Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

My laptop doesnt have bluetooth, and I dont have a dongle. However its not cable, as I have three cables here (2 CA-101, and a CA-101D), and they all dont work.
Anyway, I found a fix here about using PC Suite cleaner, I found one which was compatible with PC Suite 7, and now they can find the USB ports. The problem now is the phone still doesn't detect the connection. Oh well. I'll just try to give it a reset. I have a recent backup anyway.
EDIT: never mind. After the PC Suite reinstallation where they started finding the USB ports again, and I just turned off my mobile for 5 min without the battery, I tried connecting it again and the drivers started installing. Thanks for the time anyway.

  • NEED HELP, old hard disk failed, new hard disk not detected.

My hard disk died, not working, not detected when I restart with the MacOS X DVD and attempt to reinstall.
I have bought a new hard drive, 160 GB ATA - IDE Samsung drive, and carefully replaced it following service manual instructions. All connectors have been carfully but firmly reconnected, and the new hard disk is not detected.
What can i do?? where is the problem??
Thank you very much for your help.

Do you know that the new hard drive is working? As it's new chances are it is, just asking .... do you know it's powering up? If you replug the old not working hard drive in, is it recognized? (this is where you don't put the computer back together, but just replace the hard drive and sort of close it back up, but don't use any bolts close the case). Plus you can feel or clearly hear if the drive is starting up or not.

  • Changed graphics cards, now doesn't detect monitors

*I changed graphics cards on a Mac Pro and now its not detecting the monitors despite booting OSX10.5!*
    Mac Pro
    2 Monitors
Replacing radeon card with a geforce 7300gt
    Unplugged everything
    replaced card
Plugged everything back in, power last.
    Powered on
Monitors are blank (cannot detect signal, autocycling between analog/dvi searching for one)
I've tried plugging just one monitor in and just a mouse/keyboard.
    I've tried reseating the card.
I've tried plugging the card into 16x slot #2.
*Whats so infuriating about this is the computer actual BOOTS!* The keyboard dvd eject button responds, and I can explore the contents of this Mac Pros hard drive through the local network.
    Any ideas?
What am I doing wrong! ><

What is the video card you are installing? Is this an ATI 3870? If so did you read the installation instructions before installing? You were to install the software drivers before installing the card.
Also check that you got the Mac version of this card.

That's because the phone was almost certainly hacked to be used on your network.  Updating it has relocked the phone to the original carrier.

  • [SOLVED] HP Touchpad not detected or working with kernel 3.4.6-1

On my HP Folio 13 (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HP_Folio_13), the touchpad stopped working tonight after upgrading to kernel 3.4.6-1.
Downgrading back to 3.4.5 fixed it. I've tried AUR xf86-input-synaptics-led and the stock xf86-input-synaptics packages.
Doesn't even seem to be detected, as there's not even a mention or reference to "synaptics" in /var/log/xorg.0.log, and it's nowhere to be found under /dev/inputs/.
It isn't listed under "xinput -list" either (normally shows as "SynPS/2 Synaptics Touchpad").
Last edited by sultanoswing (2012-07-26 08:18:15)

anrxc wrote:Hello you need to rebuild synaptics-led with the new kernel if you have it installed. It replaces/overrides psmouse module in the kernel, and if it fails to load you would be left without a touchpad.
Yep that was the problem. I'd forgotten I'd compiled and installed the psmouse module using synaptics-led (/face-palm)
The AUR package, along with xf86-input-synaptics-led, did make the double-tap top-left corner hotspot work to turn the touch pad on and off. The LED light showing whether the pad is on or off never worked, however.
So - I'm now back to stock xf86-input-synaptics and on kernel 3.4.6-1 and all is working as it should.
