Touchpad of my Qosmio X770 is locked

My problem is simple, the touchpad of my laptop is locked.
Whether I press the top activation button, or I press FN F9, the touchpad will remain in effect, what should I do?
Thank you

Is USB mouse connected to the notebook while the touchpad isnt working?
Does the touchpad work in case the USB mouse isnt connected?
The question is whether this issue would be related to software or hardware problem.
In case its just an software issue, you should try to reinstall the touchpad driver.
This can be found on the Toshiba EU driver page.
Also the touchpad settings which you should find in
control panel ? mouse ? (last tab) device settings ? settings button
must be checked

  • Qosmio x770/00x - button 1 does not work pressing 6 and other button

This is going to sound so weird, but bear with me...
I just got a Qosmio x770/00x a couple of weeks ago, mostly for gaming purposes.
I play in left-handed configuration, using the Num pad as directional keys, with some of the other non-directional numbers mapped to things like 'jump' and 'melee', etc.
I have the '1/End' key mapped usually to the 'Crouch' motion in games, and noticed that if I press the '6/Right' key, in combination with any other number key, the '1/End' key won't register!
This means if I'm moving Forwards in a game, and Strafe to the right, I can't simultaneously crouch.
I've done a bit of playing around, and it seems that this bug isn't limited to my unit, or to any particular program. If you try a similar thing in any other program (eg Notepad), and hold the '6' key down along with any other number key, the '1' key won't register.
However it seems that it *has* to be the '6' key in the combination (eg. if you press '4' and '7' together, and then press '1', the '1' will still register.
Have also tried this on the store demo model at the local computer place, and it seems that it's a problem with this particular model.
The store computer runs Windows 7 Home Premium.
I'm running Win7 Pro. BIOS and Windows are fully updated.
Have also tried it on my older P-series Satellite, and that doesn't have the same problem.
    Any ideas?

Ive got 2 notebooks from two different manufactures and the button 1 does not register if 6 + other button is pressed.
Dont think its a really a keyboard bug because this happen with my two notebooks which are not really similar to each other

  • Qosmio X770: 4 nVidia HD audio devices in device manager

So i have a few questions...
In my device manager i have [this (screenshot)|http://i.imgur.com/NfH5E7p.jpg].
So i have (!) 4 nvidia hd audio and 1 hd realtek audio.
I usually update my nvidia video driver and nvidia hd audio driver is updated every time with it.
But not long ago i decided to find any other updates to my drivers, cause bloody toshiba (we call it that way in Russia) is too lazy to support their laptops. And [found this:(realtek hd R2.70 codec driver )|http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level= 4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false].
Installed it, everything is working fine so far. It is for realtek alc269 (and also many other devices, but for us only alc269 matters) which is the real name of realtek hd audio device in x770 laptops (i checked in program aida64, previously known as everest).
So now i have [this (screenshot)|http://i.imgur.com/6HM5mLj.jpg]: version 6.0.1.6662 date 19.06.2012
The previous version that lazy toshiba was glad to provide us with - 6.0.1.6360 [(screenshot)|http://i.imgur.com/dUQiPA0.jpg]
    So the questions are:
    1. Why i have FOUR nvidia hd audio devices in device manager?
    2. How can i make nvidia hd audio my primary audio device? Or maybe they are some kind of virtual devices or smth like that.
    3. Do you think the idea of installing driver directly from realtek website was bad? There is a disclaimer on their site: To be sure you obtain the full features/customizations provided in your original audio product, please download the latest drivers from your system/motherboard manufacturer's website.
So i invite everyone to test this audio driver with me :)
    And a few more things.
In one topic i found this info: moreover, myself and other users of this forum have overclocked their cards from 657/1300/1200 to 800/900/1600 and are very pleased with the results, so try not to overexaggerate
(it is a quote). So I will be happy if someone gives me link to some kind of manual about overclocking 560m gt from our beloved x770.
Also I found a lot of topics about nvidia drivers with angry customers. I don't remember when i first updated video drivers, but i've never had problems with them. When the situation changed? As far as i can understand in 2011 you could't install nvidia drivers directly from nvidia website.
P.S. sorry for my english, i'm from Russia. Also there is some russian on screenshots, hope it won't make your eyes bleed.

At first i want to "thank" moderator about renaming my topic. Original name was: realtek vs nvidia hd audio x770 + update r2.70 question. Where is 2.70 part in the current name? Ok.
Second. To Tonny: I'm not lame user, no need to explain me obvious things).
    > {quote:title=Tonny wrote:}{quote}
    > > How can i make nvidia hd audio my primary audio device?
    > I dont understand why you want to make an device primary?
    > What is the purpose for that?

    > If you want you can set the sound devices as default device in Control Panel -> Sound -> Playback tab
    > Click on the device and choose default.
If there is nvidia hd audio device and it's not some kind of virtual device or controller, i want to test it like primary audio device. Simple curiosity. I love flac etc.,
So I always try to improve sound. And alc269 we have in x770 is also installed in my ANCIENT asus eee pc, so it's very depressing. Also your advice about control panel - sound is not working, i think you know why... There's only speaker device working on realtek hd audio.
    > {quote:title=Tonny wrote:}{quote}
    > You can use the driver from Realtek since the sound chip is from Realtek.
Yep, of course, but it's my 5th laptop and also i have 2 netbooks (i'm speaking only about portative devices, not pc). I tried to update drivers manually numerous times on my previous devices, and I learned a lesson, that if you install new driver (not from you laptop/whatever support page, but directly from device manufacter's website ) and even if you are absolutely sure that driver is compatible with you device there can be problems. For example, as i've already said realtek alc269 is installed in my qosmio x770 and in my super old asus eee pc. And driver is the same.
Also realtek driver support page has disclaimer: To be sure you obtain the full features/customizations provided in your original audio product, please download the latest drivers from your system/motherboard manufacturer's website. (already was in op-post).
So I only tried to hear from those who has already installed r2.70 realtek update or maybe tested it some way. But the moderator made it impossible renaming the topic.

    Hey,
I've just got Qosmio x770-105 and while setting up Skype the camera just stayed black and never showed any image. While using the Toshiba Web Camera Application it is working on Skype it just has stays black.
Do you have any suggestions on how to fix that ?
    Thanks Than

Well, you could try to remove the Toshiba Webcam Application from the system and could try to use just the Skype tool but this is just a suggestion not quite sure what cause this issue
It looks really like broken Skype utility have googled around and it looks like more Skype users have the same problem using different computers and different webcamsunfortunately did not find a exact solution proposal

  • Qosmio X770 display not recognized anymore

I just bought a Qosmio x770 about a month ago and some day when I started it the login screen never appeared.
In linux left me in command prompt and said that no screen configuration was found.
Windows said nothing but the screen remained black.
After a number of reboots it worked normally but only for a couple of hours.
Plugged to an external monitor it works.
Also when I boot in safemode (or failsafe) it works (I mean I can enter windows/linux at 640x480 resolution).
I updated the bios to the latest version 1.30. What more else to try?
It's really uncomfortable to send it back because I need it for my job (even connected to another monitor).
My hope is that the problem is not hardware related and somehow I can solve it.
    Is there a chance?
    Thank you!

I reinstalled the windows driver in safe mode ... and nothing.. But I didn't do anything before the problem appeared ... And linux is not recognizing the screen also. I tried to boot from an external hdd and the same problem. Fn F5 show me only the external monitor. I tried some 3d games on the external monitor and everything seem ok. When connected to hdmi linux boots up in X Windows but when running nvidia-settings there is no internal display ... only the external one.
The strange thing is that the internal display is working in safe mode ... is it possible to be damaged then?
    Thank you

  • Qosmio X770-n404 How to get illumination to stick ON in Bios?

Just received a brand new Qosmio X770-n404 from toshiba last week
The lighted keyboard words fine when turn on
However when turned off, and illumination set in BIOS to on, it wont stay on after windows starts
I go back to Bios and it says illumination off
How can i get illumination to stick ON off in bios?
(im talking the illumintion option, not keyboard back light)

ok thats what i thought its supposed to do
so let me restate clearly, what my problem is:
first i go to bios, i sent illumination to ON
then of course i hit the SAVE option to store the settings
i exit and the laptop reboots
now, as soon as the laptop starts, the media buttons and the red strip above the mouse pad are illuminated
the laptop continues to boot, after i enter my password and the windows desktop begins to open, the lights cut off
The only way i can cut them back on at this point is to hit Fn-Z to either turn them ON, or turn them on with the timer(which is not exactly the same as JUST having the illumination on)
i reboot back into bios, the illimunation option is turned OFF
    i turn it back on
    wash - rinse - repeat.....
So im wondering if i have a software or hardware problem. When i set the illumination to ON , shouldnt it STAY on? and not go off once i enter windows?

  • External speakers do not turn off Qosmio x770 speakers

When I plug external speakers on my Qosmio x770-135 the internal speakers don't turn off.
    Can someonee help me?

You may check the Realtek HD Audio Manager in the Control Panel.
In the top right corner, there's a little yellow folder called "Connector Settings.
There, you could enable the setting "Enable pop-up dialog, when device is plugged in".
Now when you plug in an external speaker or headphones, it pops up and I select the option "headphone" (instead of "line-in"), and then the sound comes out only through the headphones/ext.speaker.

  • Qosmio x770 nvidia and battery software

    Hello.
I've got a qosmio x770 model PSBY5U (Windows7, 64bits) and suddenly I've noticed that my nvidia hardware (GTX560M) was not listed in the device manager lists. Before I've noticed, I've got some blue screens of death (most of them, after coming back from "sleeping" mode).
First thing I thought about, the driver. Looked for the most updated driver and it couldnt find any hardware to work with. So I restored the whole system and installed the original drvier. So far it was all good and back to normal but after I installed all my software back and after several rebooting, the nvidia was gone again and after sleeping the machine and starting it again, another blue screen.
I decided on restoring the qosmio to its total factory state, did everything all over again (drivers and stuff), worked just fine and after several normal shut downs it dissapeared again, and so on.
Any idea of what is going on? Also, starting from these, I've noticed that the "eco utility" doesn't work anymore. When active,  my battery drains very fast (it's not the battery). and these started to happen as soon as the nvidia problem started. While just the system restored, the eco utility works just fine, after the nvidida dissapears, it doesn't economized the battery. Any idea?
    Thank's a lot!
PS. Excuse my bad english. Not an english speaker.

If something you're installing is interfering, try using System Restore to restore a previous restore point from before this became an issue.
Install software one at a time to determine which program is causing the problem.

  • Qosmio X770 Where to get Corel WinDVD?

  • Qosmio X770-13G - Slow WLan internet connection

    Dear all,
    I just bought a Qosmio X770-13G with Windows 7.
WIFI data transfer is very slow, even when using a high speed AP (tried it on more than one location) and after disabling the anti-virus program.
Using the Config Free program shows 6Mbps second download speed but even downloading a 4 Mb PDF file takes several minutes.
Updating the BIOS software and the WLAN driver did not help.
Does anybody have the same experience?
    Thanks in advance,
    John

Yes, it does. And a new development yesterday evening shed new light on this problem: In addition to using a couple of known AP's I tried connecting to new AP's. Result: a data transfer speed as expected. So it seems I dont have to look into faulty hardware but into connection problems with certain AP's. I guess my original problem (suspicion of faulty hardware) is no longer an issue. Thanks for the reply.

  • Re: Qosmio x770-136 - How to watch movies in 3D using VLC player

    Hi
    I've just got a Qosmio X770-136 laptop.
How do i work the 3d?
I've got downloaded movies to play through VLC.
Am i right in thinking the laptop changes them over to 3D?
Mine doesnt seem to be working?

    Hi proudmama
Just one question: did you take a look into the user manual preinstalled on your notebook?
Do this there are details and interesting information how to watch 3D.
First of all you have to use an Toshiba Video player if you want to play the 3D video continent or 2D video content from a DVD of video file.
The 2D content could be converted using realtime 2Dto3D conversion.
The Toshiba video player is set to 2D format by default by pressing 2Dto3D button, the conversion would be enabled and you could watch 2D content in 3D.
If you want to watch 3D Blue-ray, you have to use the WinDVD BD for Toshiba

  • Qosmio X770 - cant choose Built-In 3D-Emitter

Hey guys i just recently bought the Qosmio X770 with integrated NVIDIA 3d Vision, but when i want to enable 3D i cant choose Built-In 3d-Emitter because it doesnt show up only for the other 3D Kits.
I upgraded from Home Premium to Ultimate by the way.
    Any Help?

The model is X770-11C, and it does have an internal emitter. As you said it is on the right side of the webcam. After all 3D was working about a year ago when I got the PC.
Unfortunately the manuals from NVidia don't give very much help either.
This is what I try to do:
    - activate 3D Vision
    - I get 4 choices
    USB-infrared emitter and glasses
    wired glasses
    Pro-hub and glasses
    Discover glasses
I'm not sure which one is the right one for my glasses, the type is P854. Looks like pro-hub according to the picture.
After choosing them the next screen says that I should plugin the emitter into the usb hub. That's where I have to stop installation.

  • Re: Qosmio X770 and Windows XP64bit

    Hi there,
I recently bought one new Toshiba Qosmio X770, but unfortunately it came with this new Windows 7.
I have 2 other toshiba notebooks, one is a NB200 Netbook with WinXP32bits running nicely about 1 year or more, and another big one Satellite P300 also with XP32bits.
All the softwares that I need - are running extremly good, without any conflicts, for more than a year!
But something is bothering me: After ripping of the HD from this new Qosmio X770, and trying to install Windows XP 64bits, Ive found that theres no, or anykind of support to such drivers from Toshiba.
I downloaded many drivers from the 3rd party hardware manufacturers, but only a phew worked.
Now I have this big, powerful computer, expensive, without any softwares (because, when I try to install any software that I already own, into the original Win7 64bits, it says that its incompatible, or you need to buy another version, and so on...)
My point is: Im not going to buy upgrades or other software just because some dumb Engineer built an entire new OS that requires entire new softwares, entire new Drivers, and so on. This is madness!
What should I do with this X770?
Im not going to throw it away, but you Toshiba Enginheers, should make Compatible drivers, at least for the Windows XP 64bits / 32bits.
Im not going to put this crapy Windows 7, just because someone at Microsoft wants that. I have my right to still use my usefull softwares and my Windows XP, wich works incredibly more smooth, uses less memory and works well than Win7.
    Many thanks for the support.
    Daniel.

Windows 7 => Windows XP 64bits with some fancy and diferent colors. Look at the Control Panel on the classic view, its the same as Windows XP! The main difference is that there are some few new items.
The Windows Kernel hasnt changed much since Windows XP, the main key is the memory addressing that really needs to be rebuild, due to additional 32bit addressing (64bit processors). But the base still the same, just a recompiled Windows XP.
The madness here is that every single year we are forced to buy software... Do you really need to spent money? Its like burning money: you already have something working (like Office 2003... it works even better than Office 2010... they changed only the menus, but the rest still the same) why buy something that has just changed the name and added some fancy buttons? this is like burning money...
    I know that we are year 2011, but lets look for something that has more than 100 years but the concept still the same and we still use it today: AC Three-phase induction motors - It works very well, requires very low or no maintenance at all, and delivers a nice and stable function - generating torque as long as the power supply is running ok. Theres another example: Radio FM / AM - the same as above. Combustion Engine - same as the above;
All Software should be made focused on the last longing utility - Software that will run 100 years, but will run extremly fast on 100 years Computers ..., than on fancy buttons or something like that.
Oh, btw, im still waiting, after about 2 hours, the finishing of SP1 Win7 install...
Im planning to test onto another harddisk, the installation of Windows XP 32bits on this computer :D
Hope to find 32bit driver somewhere...
    Daniel.

  • Qosmio X770-11C - good or bad experience?

As a fan of Toshiba products (after my two Toshiba PC’s: protege M200, Satellite A200-1DS), I have decided to by a more performance one.
So I bought Toshiba Qosmio X770-11C, I was satisfied by the high performances, as I'm using matlab and 3dsmax.
    Then after 7 months I have started to see blue screens;
I thought that may be with window 8 the problems will be resolved, unfortunately not….
Calling Toshiba, they have repaired it (when I received it, stating windows… blue screen again…
so I don’t know what they have repaired…..!!!)
Calling them again, for many times, at last after 3 months and half they send UPS to repair it… till now my PC is at toshiba to be repaired…
For me it is a good luck with toshiba: I bought my PC .. I used it for 7 months… then.. I’m in stand by… :(
I think this will be my last Toshiba PC…
Unfortunately I loved their products before, so I’m looking now for Lenovo, any one has an idea about the performances of such pc’s.?

Sorry to read all this. Qosmio series is best Toshiba multimedia machine but it was always too expensive for me so Im user of Satellite P series. Ai still use my Satellite P500 in hope Toshiba will offer again one big P series again. I love 18,4 display.
I dont know which BSOD have you noticed (error code) and what can be the reason. Have you tried to reinstall recovery image and test functionality with factory settings again?
I rally hope you will get your Qosmio soon and everything will be OK again.
