Touchpad R500 problem

Hello
I have Thinkpad R500, I was facing Fan error every time when I started laptop so decided to clean fan and opened laptop and now fan is okay but an other problem occured now Touch pad and Thinkpad Ultra Nav not working, it seems to be hardware problem, when I disable touchpad in BIOS then Utra Nav is functional but when both are enabled  then none of both working. Any help?

Hi Eric and welcome to Apple Discussions,
If your Macbook has a removable battery, plug in your charger and take out the battery.
If your trackpad works OK you probably have a swollen battery which pushes up on the bottom of the trackpad and stops it working.
Replace with a new battery and you should be fine.

Alan

  • Touchpad touchscreen problems (erratic behavior/not responding correctly/etc) temporary solution.

I bought a HP Touchpad about a month or two after it came out. It worked pretty much as you'd expect it to until some time ago. I started getting a problem where the screen would go crazy and not respond correctly to my touch inputs. Web pages would jump all over the place, cards would zoom out, etc, in other words, they would behave erratically. After some testing I noticed that certain areas  of the touchscreen would NOT respond at all to inputs while others would make the screen go crazy like I mentioned previously. I looked for information on the web to see if other people where having the same problem and found reports of the same behavior. Unfortunately there where no solutions offered. At that point I tried turning on and off the Touchpad which did not resolve the problem. My next step was to try to reinstall the OS with WebOS Doctor, but I read a post where the user reported similar behavior and reinstalling with WebOS Doctor didn't fix the problem. Needless to say I was bummed out since I figured it was a hardware problem with the touchscreen. After more testing I found a temporary solution to the problem which seems to suggest that the probem could be software. The solution when you get the problem is to hold down the power button and the home button at the same time and keep them pressed until the screen shuts down and the touchpad restarts. Once the OS comes back up it works like it is supposed to until you get the next episode of screen epilepsy. At that point you need to do the procedure again and it will fix the problem temporarily. Usually the fix lasts for a few days in my case. The fix also solves other problems I have with the touchpad. Problems like, videos not playing fluidly or freezing every few seconds although the sound plays fine (youtube), sound gets messed up (sounds are played in a robot like pitch), and others. If anybody has questions or other suggestions let me know, I will answer the as best as I can.
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

I think the YouTube and sound problems are separate from the other erratic behaviour.  Recently my touchpad won't play YouTube videos beyond certain points, starting a few seconds in possibly due to the advertising pop-ups - I can skip forwards, but that means I miss crucial parts.  My sound also goes 'robot-like' until a reboot, which is incredibly annoying!  Your touchscreen problems may be specific to your device - try going to Device Info / Diagnostics and see if that tells you anything.

  • Macbook pro touchpad/curser problems.

macbook pro touchpad curser problems.  typing randomly jumps to wherever the curser is resting at the time.  unbelievably maddening.  multiple devices same all have same problem.  hard to believe we cannot find anything on the apple site about this.  MANY complaints outside of this site on this issue... clearly a touchpad/battery design flaw being ignored by Cupertino.  during the writing of this post, the curser jumped randomly and started typing in a different location six times.  IMPOSSIBLE to use as a word processor since typing becomes quite frustrating.  HELP.  any ideas?  Fanboy and shareholder.  three macbook pros in the house...all the same problem. (please do not offer separate keyboard as solution...this is a laptop, not a Surface Pro...)

Go step by step and test.
    1. Restart
    2. Shut down the computer.
Clean the trackpad with moist not wet microfiber cloth.
System Preferences > Point & Click
Try turning off three finger dragging and then turning it on after  testing.
    3. Is there any Bluetooth device nearby with failing batteries? If so, replace the batteries.

    hi Razorbacktrack,
Your issue might be similar to this thread.
If your PC came with a Synaptics Touchpad, can you try to:
    1. Go to the Control Panel (large icon view) then > click Mouse > Device Settings tab > Settings
    2. Under the Synaptics Settings, go to Pointing > Sensitivity > Palmcheck and set the palm sensitivity to minimum and test the game.
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
If you have an ELAN touchpad, try to:
    3. Adjust the PalmTracking option under Additional Tab on the ELAN Smart Pad settings to the minimum (see spoiler)
4.If same problem, press WindowsKey+R then type appwiz.cpl. From the program list, uninstall lenovo pointing device, reboot.the PC and test (you can re-install this later by nagvigating to D:\Drivers\Touchpad).

  • MacBook Pro Touchpad/Volume problem

Hello all, I've just upgraded to a MacBook Pro and Logic Pro 9 and I'm having some problems with track volumes changing when I swipe the touchpad accidentally. Does anyone know how to turn that function off?
    Thanks in advance!

Hey, thanks for the interest Jazzhead! I'll try and explain it a bit better here. So when I'm in the normal arrange view, you know how there are two channel strips along the left hand side? The track you have selected, plus the output track. Well when I'm trying to move my cursor around or zoom in/out using the trackpad in the arrange portion of the screen, sometimes what I'm doing with my fingers changes the volume on those channel strips. If I have a full mixer up, it will effect some of those channel volumes all though that is less of a problem. It's just really annoying when you go and zoom out of the session using the track pad, and you accidentally put the 1/2 Output to +6dB and not even realize it.
    Thanks again,
    Cam

  • VERY SENSITIVE TOUCHPAD CAUSING PROBLEMS WHEN TYPING MESSAGESS IN WINDOWS LIVE MAIL

The laptop was recently purchased new. Windows Live Mail was installed and a mouse is used.
In respondng to an email, new email or typing a message in a forum setting such as this, the entire text would disappear which was often before a complete sentance could be typed and could not be retrieved. This process would repeat itself over and over again.
A technical representative from the company that sold the laptop concluded that combined with a very sensitive touchpad,
a moving cursor arrow, shadow from the typing hand and lightly brushing the touchpad with the typing hand either singularly or in any combination were the likely causes of the problem. He then, using the software in the laptop, deactivated the tap function in the touchpad leaving all other functions in the touchpad in place.  This resolved the problem.
      -  Is there a device or software in the laptop that adjusts the sensitivity of the touchpad so that the tap function can be restored?
       - Is it possible that the combination of Windows 8.1 and Windows LIve Mail  is really the problem  and if so, how is this  determined and if necessary resolved?
-Is there a hardware / software malfunction in the laptop causing this problem?
Any advice and comments would be appreciated

  • B560 touchpad scroll problem

I was trying to troubleshoot a freezing problem before login and so, following some online instructions, i unchecked "load startup items" in system configuration, which turned off ELAN smartpad at startup. When I tried scrolling up and down on my touchpad and it didn't work, I figured it must have something to do with turning the feature off at startup. Indeed, ELAN smartpad was unchecked in the startup tab in system config, so i re-checked it. However, when I restarted my laptop, the scroll feature still wasn't working until I went into the  "Elantech" folder under Program files within the C: drive and double clicked on "ETDCtrl." I tried copying this "ETDCtrl" into the startup folder but then an error just pops up after logging in. I have to turn on the scrolling feature everytime I log into my computer and it is getting super annoying. How can it automatically start every time I turn on my laptop? Also, I noticed that in the Startup tab in system config, the folder for ELANtech is labeled as "%Programfiles%\Elantech\ETDCtrl.exe" instead of "C:\Programfiles\..." like for all the other startup items, is this the problem? if so, how do I fix it? thanks!

  • Equium A100-549 Touchpad / Pointer problem

    Greetings
I am having a problem with daughters laptop :(
When we boot the lappy up 60% of the time once the desktop appears and its loading bits in the bottom right hand corner the pointer just vanishes and we cannot do anything with the machine apart from turn it off using the power button.
If we keep trying to boot the machine up eventually it will operate as normal. Its just like a random occurance :S
I have been through the forums and FAQ's etc, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the touchpad drivers etc and tried some of the fixes mentioned on these forums but nothing seems to solve the problem, eg bios, chipset drivers...
Would it be a windows problem?
Is it worth taking the time to go through process of performing a clean boot and looking for a service not working, or a complete windows reinstall? or is it something I have not thought of???
Any help and ideas would be fantastic thanks :)

Can you start notebook in safe mode (F8 at start-up) and check if there is the same problem with touchpad and pointer?

    Dear Jipo,
thanks for your reply. I finally found out that the driver that I installed for my touchpad didn't compatible with it and so I could not enable touchpad function.
some minutes ago I Intalled the original driver that I downloaded from lenovo site and touchpad function worked successfully
I found out that when I install the "Synaptics Pointing Device", the touchpad function does not work (See this pictures) and I thought if I install the latest version of Synaptics Pointing Device I can solve this problem but it didn't work.
Finally I installed only the Alps Pointing Devices and my problem solved (So don't install the Synaptics Pointing Device for this model)

  • Touchpad click problems in windows xp

Hello, i am using macbook 2.4ghz with osx 10.5
i installed windows xp sp2 with the bootcamp
and now updated it to sp3 from official windows update site,
every thing else is working perfectly, except for the following problems which are with the trackpad :
    1. i cant click on the trackpad. Although, the mouse pointer is controlled by it, also, it is responding to the double touch scroll properly, but no click on the trackpad, i searched a lot for it, and it seemed to me that there is no option for this on my macbook.
    2. right click, its also related to the first problem, actually if you can guide me to the clicking on the touchpad, how can i bring feature of 2 finger right click as we have in osx on xp?
also, will there be same problem with other versions of windows, like vista and windows 7?
it really affects me a lot! keenly waiting for the response!

    Bangial:
    1. i cant click on the trackpad. Although, the mouse pointer is controlled by it, also, it is responding to the double touch scroll properly, but no click on the trackpad, i searched a lot for it, and it seemed to me that there is no option for this on my macbook.
You are right. At present, there is NO option to perform a click by simply tapping on the trackpad. You have to use the trackpad button to perform a click.
    2. right click, its also related to the first problem, actually if you can guide me to the clicking on the touchpad, how can i bring feature of 2 finger right click as we have in osx on xp?
The only way you can perform a right click is to place two fingers on the trackpad and then click on the trackpad button.
Until Apple releases the appropriate drivers and considers this as an issue, the above will remain as is for all early macbook and macbook pro models (2006 - early 2008).

  • Touchpad camera problems

I am on the latest webos 3.0.2 and it seems that my camera is not working
When I use skype to connect and talk with people it works fine until i turn on the video portion and the call gets dropped immediately and I get signed out.
I downloaded Digicam lite and when i launch it it fails with error 4 during camera init.
is this a faulty device or is there some type of software update/configuration that needs to be done to correct it ?
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

I am glad that I am not the only one with this problem.
I've called support and it is horrible!!! you have to wait through a long wait and the first person I spoke with lied about everything and I had to call back the next day and restart the process again.
Basically just go ahead and ask for 2nd level support(specialist) since the front liners can not help you at all and will only escalate tickets.
    You will have 2 choices
    1) ship in your touchpad for repairs will take 7-10 days according to them
    2) pay 59.99 + 350 deposit and they will ship you a refurbished unit and you send in yours and once they receive your old unit will refund the 350 deposit.
I don't know about you guys but option 2 just sounds worse especially since your paying extra to turn in your new device and you get an refurb device.
Good luck to you guys I don't believe that this is a simple software fix

  • G570 TouchPad disabling problem

    Hi!
I recently bought a new Lenovo G570 Laptop and immediately updated the BIOS (so I can't tell if it worked before). Everything seems to be working perfect, but I found that Fn-F6 (enable/disable touchpad) is not working and the TouchPad is stuck enabled. It's really bothering me, is this a BIOS problem or just wrong Windows configuration?

  • 8570p Laptop touchpad different problem

I am aware of the feature that enables and disables the touchpad (the tap on the upper left hand corner).  I use the touchpad all the time and my problem is that it's a great feature--if you're right handed. As a southpaw, I am constantly turning the touchpad off and having to double tap the upper left corner to re-enable it. Besides suggesting to HP that they hire some left-handed people to test their products, I wonder if there is a way to disable the shutoff function of the touchpad so I don't have to stop and re-enable it every few minutes. I want the touchpad to work all the time!
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Mouse, select the Clickpad Settings tab and then click the Clickpad Settings button - the option you need to disable is called 'Tap To Disable' - the actual location of this will vary a little depending on your touchpad hardware/software but should be similar to the example below.  When the option has been de-selected, click 'Close' on the first window and then Apply and Ok in the remaining one.
    Best regards,
