  • DV6 Touchpad replacement

Hopefully I have the right forum area for this question.
    I have a HP DV6 -1355dx.
I need to replace the touchpad on it.
What Im trying to find out is:
What other dv6 models have the same touchpad. I can find used(for parts) dv6's for a resonable price but dont know if the touchpads are interchangable.
How can I cross refernce the part?
    Thanks much for any help

    Hi,
    My suggestion:
    (a) Use the following stores to find part number in your country/region:
       http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/?cc=US&lang=EN&jumpid=hpr_r1002_usen
       http://partsurfer.hp.com/
    (b) Use part # to find out other source such as eBay.
    Regards.

  • T60 Touchpad Replaced and not Working

I recently replaced my touchpad (palmrest) and plugged it in. I actually have to disable it in bios in order to use my trackpoint. I have the most recent drivers and utility for Ultra Nav.
When I select to activate my touchpad in the bios settings, I then get a warning triangle, and my trackpoint becomes "hidden" in the device manager and inoperable, I can't use it.
Any ideas on how to ge both working? I feel I am close!!

    Thanks for the reply,
The touchpad does show up in the bios, so I think the system board is whole, but who knows. I just tried to boot up with the trackpoint disabled and the touchpad automatic, and the problem I explained before where the device manager shows the ultranav pointing device with a warnign triangle and hidden. I think the synaptics driver files for the trackpoint are the same for the touchpad.
Is there way to test or check the system board?
Most diagnostic tests will be inconclusive. There are specific ways to test the system board, but it's not something you'd want to do, it would be far less work and cheaper to simply replace it then diagnose it, but getting back to your problem...   you didn't answer my question, so lets start from the beginning....
You replaced the palmrest/touchpad assembly...    Why?
Does the replacement have the same problem as the original?
If I wanted to dianose the problem I'd do it the fastest and cheapest way possible, by pluggin in a known good part and seeing if it works. That sure beats tracing and testing microscopic circuits for hours, something that lenovo repair centers don't even do, they simply replace parts. Used T60 parts are cheap, so whatever you may need shouldn't be a problem to get.
Regarding your drivers...   windows generic drivers will work, and I've never seen the problems you describe, but if you've installed improper drivers, it could have caused such a problem, but again, I really don't know what you did, or even what started all this and what problem you were trying to fix, but if you want to see if this problem is hardware or software, you can try booting from a Linux LiveCD, boot up with option to make no changes to your system and see if both trackpoint and touchpad work using Linux, if they do, then you have a driver problem, in which case I'd uninstall all mouse devices and reboot. Windows "should" enable generic mouse driver so you can use the system, then it would only be a matter of installing the proper drivers, , but do this AFTER you've determined it's software, not as a test, or you'd be likely to just complicate things even more.
You can get a Linux LiveCD at Ubuntu.com.

  • HP EliteBook 2760P TouchPad Replacement

If I had to guess, it looks as if you need to remove the keyboard, take out a few screws underneath that, and then a few from the back of the chassis. Here's the underside. Match it to the screw placement on the back chassis and see what screws need to be removed. You may need to use a small flat head screwdriver to separate it from the motherboard and the backing.

I have an HP EliteBook 2760P laptop that the left touchpad button does not work anymore.  The right touchpad button does work, so I don't think it is a driver or setting issue.  I cannot find any documentation on a part number for the touchpad or how to remove it.  I found youtube videos for other HP models where it looks like the touchpad is built into the palmrest and you have to replace the whole palmrest.

  • The T510 T520 and so on touchpad replacement

I'd like to exchange the touchpad (not the whole palmrest) in Lenovo T520. How to make it not so that all work and look corectly?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You can buy something like this: click me! (I don't have any affilliation with the seller!! Buy at your own risk)
Then you'll need to remove the palmrest turn it up and  undo few screws, replace the parts. Then put the new palmrest back. I did it with a couple of T510/W510, it was fairly easy. Unfortunately it is not documented in the HMM.
Eventually you may find a complete palmrest for less money though... Keep your eyes open

  • T400s touchpad replacement part-number

Hi, the touchpad on my t400s (2801-cto) does not work any more.  Does anybody knows the part number for the touchpad ?
I have looked under my palmrest and the touchpad is glued.  The fingerprint reader is still working fine.
I have seen on eBay new palmrest with no touchpad nor fingerprint reader, so I am assuming that there must be a part numer for just the touchpad.
    Thanks.

  • Ideapad U510 Touchpad

    Hello,
I am having issues with my touchpad. It does not allow for any multi finger swipes. I originally had finger swipes but had to get the touchpad replaced by Lenovo because the mouse would move when nothing was touching the touchpad.
Since I received my machine back from Lenovo repair the swipe features are gone and the options features in the Elan setting windows is grayed out. I tried installing drivers (from the Lenovo and Elan websites) and did a complete system recovery, but I still cannot get multiple fingers to work with the touchpad.
My screen is fairly wide and it is very annoying to have to scroll with the side bar, so does anyone have any ideas on how I can get multiple fingers swiping and scrolling?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, just curious if this issue was ever addressed or resolved by Lenovo? I just bought a refurbed U510 and have the Elan drivers, no multi-touch functionality. I'm just wondering if I just need to deal with it or if there is a way to fix it so I can get those features. Thanks.

  • Equium A300D-16c touchpad coursor jumps

    Hello,
I've had a Equium laptop for quite some time now.
But all of a sudden the touchpad seems jumpy and every now and then just stops, waits... then continues. This is very annoying because i play games and it becomes a problem ive tried everthing: from a System restore to reinstalling the drivers.

Hmm if system restore doesnt help to solve this issue, then a hardware problem might be possible.
I read about a similar issue while typing this has been solved by BIOS update.
Maybe you should check this if the BIOS update would help you
Otherwise it might be a hardware problem which could be solved by touchpad replacement.

  • Need laptop touchpad part number

where to find tennrich s awm 20624 80c vw strip

I have had a look around ebay and forund some suitable touchpad replacements, so thanks again for that.

  • T410s Fingerprint power-on option doesn't work

I have selected "Use fingerprint scan instead of power-on button", so when I scan my finger I shall be able to turn on my computer and login to windows.. and it worked well until I had a replacement of the plastic panel where fingerprint reader is located.
Eversince then, green light is not on unless I was asked to login to something, (v.s. the gree light will be constantly on even if power-off).  I still can scan fingerprint and log onto everything if asked though.
I tried to reinstall the newest driver and made sure the "Use fingerprint scan instead of power-on button" is checked, but still no luck. Can someone pls help? Thanks.

I have a similar problem. Only after palmrest replacement, the fingerprint reader is useless, I cannot log on to windows using the stored fingerprints from before the palmrest replacement or record new ones. I deleted all saved fingerprints, reset fingerprint data in software and BIOS, re-installed latest fingerprint software - no effect. The green LED is on, when I try to record a new fingerprints, then there is some time delay on the red LED blinks and message on the screen tells me that the quality of this scan was not sufficient. After many trials I gave up. The reader reacts quite slowly turning from green to red - maybe a driver issue? Otherwise I´ll need to get service again..This sucks (see below  :-(
This was my third palm rest replacement (first a crack next to the touchpad, replaced two times against a palmrest with dysfunctional touchpad) and now a dysfunctional fingerprint reader. I know, this is not a critical part of the laptop, but I am deeply disappointed choosing a Lenovo machine. ThinkPads had such a good reputation and they are (at least in Europe) very expensive.

  • HP notebook keyboard and mouse not working

    Hi
I spilled tea on my notebook. Now the system boots but keyboard & mouse do not work. Therefore I am not able to
login at the windows screen. When I hardboot, on pressing esc it goes to boot menu, but then the keyboard stops working
so I cannot go to safe mode or recovery mode. I also tried pressing F11 to enter BIOS, but it does not work.
I can however access it via LAN and since I had shared the C drive, I was able to recover the data. Do you have any idea
how I can restore the system now ? I do not have the recovery disks.
Are there any particular function keys to press while booting ?
Thanks a lot for your help

    Thoughts on a Soggy System:
Have you tried the obvious -- connecting an external keyboard and mouse?  If you are not near a store where you can buy these, you can order them online as a set.  Almost anything would do and Windows 7 and 8 install basic drivers for most keyboards and mice without problems when the system comes online.
If you have not waited for several days for things to REALLY dry out before attempting to get back onto the system, then you may get away with this yet - if you WAIT for a few days.  Chances are not great, but ... ?
If you can get the system to a repair shop, it is not terribly expensive to have the keyboard / touchpad replaced -- assuming that is all that is wrong with the system -- and the repair is not a lengthy process.  This might be something you can do yourself if you are skilled, disparate, in a tiny spot on the planet somewhere (without a repair shop), or like these things...
We can check for part numbers and all of that if you are interested.  You can search for for yourself, too.
    Start at
    Support and Drivers
Enter your information -- Look along the colum and Click on Manuals.  You are looking for the Maintenance Manual.
If you do not find it, provide your Exact Product number and I will look for you.
    Locate the Notebook Product Number
I am pretty sure you are going to have to have some sort of keyboard control over that system to do more than just use the hard drive to do a hard recovery of the data.  You are not at that point until you determine that you cannot access the data through the computer itseslf...
You can always send the system to HP and have it repaired.  It is not free unless you have the warranty for it - but it is not horrible to do;  HP makes the process pretty easy.  It might be worth checking if you do not have a local option available!
    Contact HP - USA
    Good Luck!
    Kind Regards,

  • Touchpad E520 replacement?

    Hello Stuart
In my opinion best address for you is nearest Toshiba authorized service provider. They can obtain all hardware parts.
But the question is how to exchange all this without maintenance manuals?
Do you have experience with disassembling procedure?
