Touchpad scroller won't work in Windows 7

Hey,
I just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. After upgrading, the vertical scroller on the touchpad doesn't work. Apparently a lot of people have solved this problem by using Alps or Synaptics drivers for Vista, but it didn't work for me.
Any ideas? =)

I will look around. Go buy a mouse!

  • Touchpad scroll gestures not working in windows 10

Hello,I have a HP Envy laptop and my laptop's touchpad scrolling gestures are not working since I updated my windows operating system from windows 8.1 to windows 10. Please help me out!

Hi : Did your scroll setting stay after you rebooted?  I gave the same advice yesterday (see post below) and the one guy said the setting gets erased on every reboot. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Notebook-PC-Questions/Synaptics-touchpad-doesn-t-scroll-after-Windows-10-upgrade/m-p/5173105#M126701 I could not say yea or nay because I rolled back my notebook to W7 due to the fact that it could no longer screen mirror to my smart TV (either the TV needs a software update, or W10 has a bug) and I can't remember if I had used the notebook scrolling feature again in W10 after I had turned it off.

  • Windows 7 and dv4-1125nr TrackPad - scrolling won't work

I have installed all the latest drivers via HP support's website and the trackpad's scrolling won't work on my dv4-1125nr when in Windows 7. It works fine in Vista, so I'm wondering if there is a way to get it working properly in Win 7. Also the software update manager is not available for download under my model number. If that was available, perhaps that would find a necessary download and install accordingly. Any help is greatly appreciated as this is a major annoyance!! Thanks!

Hi Daniel, thanks for your post, recently I also upgraded my laptop(dv4-1125nr) from vista to Win 7 ultimate, after then my touchpad(touch keys just above the keyboard, it contain mute, vol. up or down, wireless active or inactive) is not able to work.
You informed that we need uninstall and then install Synaptics touchpad for Win7 by HP here
I would like to know which driver i need to uninstall and then install above one and even i attached my laptop contral panel screen shot for your reference. your help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Curve 9300 scroller won't work

For the past few months, my scroller has been sticking and freezing, but i have managed to fix it everytime by pressing down hard or doing a battery pull. Also, the screen would just randomly turn white and then the phone would restart. The white screening was getting unbearable, so i did a software reload through desktop manager and since my scroller won't work at all. It wont select or scroll. Someone please help!!!!!!!!

Good deal.  I still think the phone is having hardware issues from what you described and a tech will have to check it out.

  • Magic Mouse won't work in Windows 7 anymore

    Hey there,
I've got an iMac running OS X 10.6.8 and Windows 7 via Boot Camp. I just updated a bunch of the Apple stuff on Windows -- iTunes, Quicktime, "boot camp" (I assume that meant drivers and such), and whatnot. Now my Magic Mouse won't work in Windows 7. It was fine before, so I assume the update screwed something up. Help? I know nothing of retrieving old drivers and stuff like that.
Note: I am running Snow Leopard, NOT Lion.

  • The touchpad scroll doesn't work in visual studio?

    Hello,
As I mentioned in the title, the touchpad scroll doesn't work or affect visual studio community. The scrolling works very well with other software but it doesn't with visual studio community. This same button worked with VS 2010, VS 2012 (It stopped sometimes
but still functioning correctly most of the time), and stopped with 2013 versions. Why?
Take a look at the video to see the problem in action: http://youtu.be/Qt20pM6ZQAo
    Thank you for your comments!

Scroll button on what? Are you using a mouse with a scroll wheel, or is this a laptop touch pad?
If the latter, please read here:

  • NB100 touchpad scroll bar stops working after exit full screen mode youtube

I have few Toshiba laptops, satellite, and now netbook100.
All of them share one problem, touchpad scroll bar:
It will stop working after exit full screen mode in youtube.
Here is how to reproduce the incident:
    1. using any mainstream browser, start playing a youtube video, click full screen button at the bottom right corner of the video.
    2. click on the [cross] to exit the full screen mode. (next to full screen button.)
    3. check if you scroll bar still functioning.
    4. a reboot will restore the function.
Currently, Im on vista, I believe in XP you will have the same problem.
Searching in google (touchpad scroll bar stops full screen youtube) will return more people share the same question but no answer.
Environments: win xp all, win vista all.
Windows all most updated driver, touch pad driver up to date.
This is not a major tech problem but for a netbook, this is very annoying.
If anyone have this problem or answers, please share it here.
    Thank you in advance.
    regards.

I had the exact same problem on my laptop and after a lot of searching, I finally found the simplest solution that really works for me so here goes:
Once you exit the full screen video and the scroll pad has stopped working, click once anywhere on the youtube page(just to unfocus from the video) and press the spacebar button on your keyboard twice.
Et voila, your scroll pad should be working again. Beats the hassle of having to log off everytime.
    Hope this helps

  • Two finger scroll no longer working in windows 7 HP Pavillian 15t- n200

Hello!  My two finger scroll on the touchpad is no longer working!  I have run the BIOS again and disconnected battery with power off for 60 sec but still not working. Please help!  Thank you so much

    Hi eg1978
Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you are having issues with your two finger scrolling. I have a couple of things for you to try. This HP document Using and Configuring the TouchPad has a section on Turning individual gestures off and on and make sure that the two finger scrolling is enabled. If that does work then reinstall your Synaptics TouchPad Driver.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue.
Click the “Kudos Thumbs Up" on the right to say “Thanks” for helping!

  • Touchpad Scroll-buttons not working properly

    Hello all,
I was not sure if this is actually a Desktop Environment or Hardware problem, but since it's hardware related I will post it here.
    The problem:
On my touchpad (on Acer Aspire 5610Z) I have scroll button for up/down/left/right and until a recent update the scroll buttons need to be clicked repeatably in order to scroll. Before the upgrade and the way I'm expecting to behave is that when I click and hold a button - it should repeat the scroll (I hope you are able to understand it). So basically my problem is that to scroll with the scroll-buttons I have to click it numerous times in order to scroll, instead of just holding the button pressed.
At the same time all other features like two-finger scrolling, gestures etc. are working, but I'm not used to scroll with two fingers and would like to have my scroll-buttons working.

I thank you in advance for your suggestions

I'm afraid the problem is in driver.
I compared sources of input-synaptics 1.6.3 and 1.7.0 and it seems that author has cut off the functionality of "repeating" scrollbuttons
Here's the announce of this new version:
    http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/x … 55593.html
And we can read there: "Purge scrollbuttons (repeat)".
    Strange decision I think...

  • I ran the update and then firefox stopped working completely ggot a message about .dll that won't work with windows. tried toreinstall new copy of latest but they won't.

I just ran the update to .4 as the dialog box said to. Now firefox won't work at all. Nothing happens I get a message about a .dll file that is incompatible. Tried to doanload a new copy but that doesn't get any further starting to extract files then it fails to finish. Any thing I can do or have I lost evrery thing including my bookmarked sites?

    Thank you,
Morbus! It worked like you said. Anyway I think the problem starts with maybe needing to completely clean up my OS and drives as they keep "filling up" real fast - much faster than my usage. Uninstall wouldn't work so I just oened up programs and fond the .exe and then deleted it. Scary moment as I really have seen others so mess up everything doing this but download went well of new copy and yes I have all my bookmarks and settings. YAYS!! so thank you again. Also running so much faster and no glitches like tabs not working th way they should. • I have Windows 7, Mozilla older version won't stay without upgrading to Mozilla 5.0 Mozilla 5.0 won't work with Windows 7 please help

I have a new Dell, Windows 7. IE and Chrome work beautifully (I had to install these to get onto the Internet since Mozilla won't work). Older versions of Mozilla worked for a few seconds, but then the auto update kicked in (to 5.0). I even tried to stop the auto updates immediately after installing an earlier version, that didn't work either. Mozilla will not allow me to enter text, lets me enter a few letters then freezes. Please advise. Thank you, Mary

    Hi Guys,
    I had this same problem too, and i want to share to all of you my own fix for this kind of problem;
(READ FIRST: ''This step will wipeout everything that mozilla saved on your computer including : password, history and bookmarks''.)'''
    '''1. download the Revo Uninstaller''''''
    - quick step guide for this:
select mozilla firefox, don't forget to uninstall everything that relates to mozilla including registry to clean them all up.
    '''2. download mozilla firefox again'''
    - AND REINSTALL. however on this stage, in some cases mozilla will not open at this stage.
'''3. Uninstall Mozilla firefox again NOW using control panel.'''
'''4. Restart the computer to refresh everything.'''
'''5. Reinstall mozilla firefox again, once you have received the prompt for "exporting or importing etc.. etc.. from Microsoft" that means its already working.. it will take around 5-10 sec to load up (in my case) .'''

  • T420 Headphone Jack won't work in Windows 7

    Hi all,
I've recently got a T420 4180A32 (Conexant CX20672) and the headphone jack doesn't work under Windows 7. It works when I boot (natively) into Ubuntu, but obviously when I run a Virtual Machine into Ubuntu through Windows, it doesn't work either.
    I have:
    - Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver version that came installed.
    - Installed,  Uninstalled and reinstalled a newer driver version.
    - Uninstalled the old driver and installed the new one.
    - Reverted to using the generic High Definition Audio driver. The speakers work fine but again, headphone jack doesn't.
    - Established that it obviously isn't a hardware problem.
    - Uninstalled then reinstalled DirectX
    - Tried various headphones on the off chance that they were the problem. They weren't.
    I haven't:
    - Done a full reinstall of windows 7 (although I might)
    - Tried Windows 8, although again, I might as I have an unused licence for it and I really want my headphones to work.
That's about all the info I can give. Besides this problem, the laptop runs great!
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I have now noticed that when using ubuntu the headphones work but that won't mute the speakers, so I am starting to think it could actually be the jack, as the headphones, as a device, arent dectected by ubuntu either, they just work because they are plugged in, I guess it's the way each OS works.
Check if that happens in your computer as well. Also, where did you check the prices of compatible sound cards? Which should I buy? I may go to a Lenovo store to get it fixed.

  • Ff won't work on windows and can't get maintanence to work what do i do?

ff says its compatible, but windows says otherwise.ff freezes in the middle of anything, manly while loading a page.maintanence won't work at all help me!

How about trying a previous build of Firefox? Then, if that works, upgrade again to the next version until you find the culprit. Then, just stay with the previous build!
