Touchpad stop response ...

Pressing power + center button did bring the hp logo back and did go into the home screen. However, touching screen app still have no response. only pressing the center button can toggle between launcher and home screen now. How can I do? I don't mind if I have to erase everything and do a hard reset.
Oh, looks like there is an upgrade failure message after bring the home screen back. Not sure if that matters.

Since you don't mind starting over, you may wish to try webOS Doctor. It's a program that you run on your computer. It will reload webOS onto your TouchPad. Go here and download webOS Doctor 3.0.5 in the WiFi Only section: http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Webos_Doctor_Versions#Wifi_Only

Windows 8.1 Onboard Keyboard and Touchpad Stopped Working.

After upgrading to Win 8.1 my keyboard and touchpad stopped working suddenly. They both worked fine for the entire Windows 8.0 release. When I upgraded to 8.1, they both worked for about 3 months. Then what started happening is the computer
would freeze during the startup process.
Now they both don't don't work. But a USB powered mouse works. So with a USB powered mouse and the on screen keyboard I have been troubleshooting. I have removed the drivers from the device manager, reinstalled the drivers, searched for
driver updates etc. Nothing works.
Can someone please point me in the right direction. PC is kind of useless at the moment.

Satellite Pro L300-EZ1004X - TouchPad stopped working, BIOS update does not help

I have a Satellite Pro L300-EZ1004X laptop. Few days ago TouchPad stopped working. This is not a Fn + F9 issue.
In Device Manager it looks like hidden device and has (!) on it. Re-installing Synaptics drivers, updating them, removing the device in Safe Mode - nothing works. (TouchPad did not work in Safe Mode). One of the forums mentioned BIOS update. For some strange reason the latest BIOS for this specific laptop is from 2008 (ver. 1.5). Other L300 laptops have option to update BIOS to ver. 2.20 (2010) but not mine! I tried to load it (ver. 2.20)from Windows and from boot disk without success. I installed BIOS ver. 1.5. After reboot - keyboard stop working! And TouchPad ... still dead and still appears as hidden device. Using external mouse I restarted the laptop and get into the BIOS settings. In Advanced Settings disabled TouchPad completely. KEYBOARD START WORKING IN WINDOWS!!!
Any suggestions on how to make this TouchPad to work? Or how to get newer BIOS for this Laptop?

Sounds like it has died, you can purchase a new one from a parts supplier and pay someone to install it or if you are any good with such things you can try to do it yourself. I suggest just sticking with the external mouse.

Keyboard and touchpad stop working

Hi everyone.
I've used my HP Mini 2140 Notebook PC for about two months. Two days ago, while I was working, the keyboard and touchpad stopped responding so I couldn't do anything. The computer kept "working" though. The computer won't go into sleep-mode when I try that; it just fades out the screen and hangs. Since then, this has started happening at total random.
I've tried this across two installations of Vista Home, and have uninstalled/reinstalled device drivers. I noticed that whenever this happens, the laptop's fan accellerates to what seems like full blast, and keeps going like that until I force the power off.
I've tried unplugging the AC adapter and battery, holding the power switch to drain power from circuits and booting up again, both with AC only and battery only. Neither of these things helped.
Wondering if anyone has seen or heard of a similar problem? Very frustrating.

Have EXACT same problem! Only my keyboard and touch pad freeze up after I have let computer run without touching it for several minutes!
Have no problem if I continually use keys or touch pad!
Have extended power saver times to over 5 hours with no help!

T61 touchpad stopped working.

My touchpad stopped working. Hitting FnF8 yields message "UltraNav driver is not installed", but I have installed that driver from the Lenovo site, twice. The pointer device works fine. What should I try next?

WLS 7.0 SP2 stop response

The size of the ear is 43MB. It is deployed to WLS 70Sp2 successfully.
But after using the app for a few minutes (access the pages by IE 6.0), WLS stop
response: a white page is displayed(no text, no image, nothing displayed).
I want to see what hapened by type http://localhost:7001/console, the browser
also displayed a white page.(no login)
At the same time, I notice that the DOS console didnot display INFO log message
any more.
The app works fine on WLS 8.1.
I want to know it is caused by the bugs in my app or it is an issue of the configuration
of WLS.

There could be dozens of reasons for this; impossible to diagnose with so few details.
If you want to rule out known problems in WLS 7.0 SP2, then install SP3 and try again.

It looks like you are facing difficulties to resolve Touchpad Issues with your Notebook

Steps to drain the Static charge and loading default BIOS settings to resolve the issue
Step 01. Turn OFF the Notebook
Step 02. Un-plug the Power/AC Adapter and also remove the Battery too
Step 03. Press and Hold the Power Button of the Notebook for a full minute
Step 04. Now let's re-insert the battery back in and plug back the Power/AC Adapter
Step 05. Start the Notebook and keep tapping F10 Key during the startup to access the BIOS
Step 06. Once you get to the BIOS, Please press F5 or F9 Key to load setup defaults for the BIOS
Step 07. Now let's press Esc/Escape Key. Save Changes and Exit - Yes

If this is Synaptics TouchPad, try this:
Control Panel > Mouse > Device Settings
On that page, look to see if you have "Disable internal device..." checked.
Regardless, you can try the "Reset Devices" button to try and kick it free.

HP Tx2000 keyboard + touchpad stopped responding

My keyboard and touchpad stopped working after I got home from work. The keyboard was still working before I turned off for work. I have already tried the "pull out battery" method that I have found on google, but I have no luck.
There's only one method that work for me so far: disabling and then enabling it in the Device Manager every time I restart my computer. My keyboard would work again, however, doing the same thing does not help my touchpad. In fact, each time I put my laptop to sleep, my keyboard would stop functioning again. The device manager only works once, so I would have to restart my computer in order for me to type on the keyboard...
There's a few things that I want to mention:
- I believe that this is not a hardware problem, because I was able to access bios with the keyboard
- The tablet function no longer works. My monitor wasn't functioning few months ago, my friend fixed it and told me that a cable was loose. Since then my touchscreen stopped working and wouldn't go into tablet mode. (I don't really use it this function so that's ok)
I just want to get my keyboard working again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if it's downloaded on your system without corruption I would try running it in Safemode, just tap the "f8" key while booting up.
If you suspect the download had an issue then download it again or download on another system and copy to your using a USB key.
BTW what happened when you tried to run it?

Touchpad stops working on X201 (and other models)

I have an X201 and noticed tha tthe toucpad stops working at seemingly random intervals. After tracking down the culprit to the Synaptic Touchpad Enhancements process, I did a search and found other people having the issue in the Thinkpad W series forum. Instead of reposting it here, you can find my reply with an easy workaround to get it working again over in this thread.

Somebody thinks the problem only happens with Firefox, which I happen to use as well, so the problem could be between Firefox and the Synaptics process.

HP pavilion dv6 touchpad stopped working (read this if you have dropped your computer)!

Hello, this is not a question it is advice for people having touchpad issues with their dv6 (I've noticed a quite a few posts). My touchpad suddenly completely stopped working one day (didn't respond to anything that I did).
Most of the forums I've been to (actually, all of them... and they were many) ask you to try reinstalling the driver. However, if you did not recently uprage your OS or make any such major changes this is not likely to be the issue.
Try going to device manager. If your touchpad is not showing up under the mouse and pointer devices section (it should say Synaptics something or other) then it means that either something is broken OR your touchpad came unseeded.
For me, it was the second option (I drop my laptop... occasionally). The cable for the touchpad is held in place by a little plastic lever-like clamp. It can easily become loose, so try this out before taking your computer into a repair shop (and loosing it for weeks, not to mention the price if you're not under warranty!)
Three easy steps:
1) take the removable bottom cover off (that little plastic bit in the center where your hard drive is). For my model (6145dx), it just snaps off (with a flathead screw driver or other tool for leverage). You might have to unsrew a few things, but it should be easy.
2) Take out the hard drive (held in place by 4 screws in most cases). You do not need to disconnect the cables leading to the hard drive! Just pull it out and lay it off to the side.
3) Toward the very front of your computer (right under where your hard drive was, and where the touchpad is on the top cover) you will see the ribbon cables coming from your keyboard, touchpad, etc. Give them a little wiggle (just pull the plastic tabs that stick up. If one of them moves, then you need to re-clamp it! Push the cable all the way in and push down the lever.
Super easy! Should solve all your problems!

So my touchpad wasn't working and I have an HP dv6-6135dx. It started being messed up shortly after I took my PC apart to upgrade the screen. Sometimes it worked perfectly, sometimes it was completely unresponsive, sometimes the ring around the touchpad was lit, other times it wasn't etc.... It got worse and worse to the point where the touch pad almost never worked.
I followed this guide, and it didn't fix the problem; however, this got me thinking, and I pulled the keyboard out and reseated the touchpad cable where it connects right under there. BAM works perfectly. THANK YOU so much for this post, for some reason I didn't think to reseat the cable... I must have not plugged it back in completely when I took my laptop apart. Synaptic touchpad stops working now and then on ProBook 6450b

The touchpad on my ProBook 6450b stops working every now and then. It just freezes, no error message or anything. It always works again after I reboot. It also starts working immediately if I go to the Task Manager and kill SynTPEnh.exe and then restart SynTPEnh.exe via Explorer (C:\Program Files\Synaptic\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe). I have had this machine for 9 months, and these problems started only a couple of weeks ago. There are no error messages, and Device Manager says the device is working properly even when the touchpad is frozen. Sometimes I can go days without having a freeze, sometimes multiple freezes within minutes. Also, it happens during different activities - web browsing, watching movies, etc.
I'm not sure, but I might have enabled the WiFi-card in the BIOS prior to having these problems. However, as I currently need wireless, disabling it again is not an option.
I tried updating the BIOS, but the installation program wouldn't detect my SanDisk Cruzer USB stick, so I couldn't make a backup and decided to abort the procedure. I also tried installing another version of the Synaptic driver (can't remember the version, but it said "Evaluation Copy" on the Synaptic device in the Control Panel). It worked for a couple of days, then I got the old freeze again.
My setup:
HP ProBook 6450b
Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
Synaptic driver version 15.0.24

As a "quick'n'dirty" solution, I figured out how to automate this process. Simply create a new textfile called "Restart Synaptics.bat" and enter the following into it:
taskkill /IM SynTPEnh.exe /F
"C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe"
This will kill the SynTPEnh.exe process and then restart it. Now put a shortcut to your batch file in the Start Menu for easy access.

[SOLVED] Slow/sluggish touchpad buttons response (sometimes)

Hi all,
I have had this problem for some months now but have never looked into it, even if it is pretty annoying.
Sometimes (say one boot every three) the touchpad buttons of my laptop (see sig) behave strangely. Their response time is very long, I have to keep them pressed for ~half a second to make them trigger correctly.
This is very annoying when editing texts (selection a section of text with the touchpad) and using any click intensive application (ie editing a presentation with Prezi).
I use KDE and the only touchpad configuration I've ever done has been done via synaptiks.
I cannot tell after what update this started, it was too long ago unfortunately.
Since this happens only sometimes I don't even know where to start looking!
EDIT: I stress the fact that this happens with buttons, not with tapping
