Touchpad stop woking after Synaptics driver is installed

2 days ago I installed the new Ethernet, WWAN, Camera, Wireless, Audio, Graphics drivers from the HP website and also the latest BIOS, and the Synaptics touchpad mouse and stick mouse stopped working, if I remove the Synaptics driver the touchpad will work (very slow), If I reinstall the Synaptics driver again it will stop working, I've tried different versions of the Synaptics driver from the HP support website and nothing, as soon as the driver is installed the touchpad will stop working. I have removed the WWAN and Camera driver but nothing happens still the same. If I reboot into BIOS mode the touchpad works fine, so it's not a harware problem. If I check the Mouse Properties there is no Synaptics tab. If I check the Device Manager it's all good.

Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forums. The first thing I would ask is what prompted a BIOS update.
Did you have an issue with your system that required you to do a BIOS update. If not do an HP BIOS recovery back to the old version. If it isn't broke don't fix it.
Restoring the BIOS
After that do a system recovery back to the older driver and software. Again if it isn't broke don't fix it.
Now if you where having issues with the system that required a BIOS update and an update in drivers and the recovery does not resolve the problem. Contact HP phone support for repair options.

It seems that the new driver released in 3/17/2015 by Synaptics has issues with middle button.
And it doesn't even list middle button in its panel. I can't find a proper feedback entrance on Synaptics' sites so I hope posting here would help. (Though considering a driver issue with Compact Bluetooth Keyboard doesn't get fixed in years, I don't think they would give a **bleep**. Oh why I am buying ThinkPad again!)

Same thing happened to me, but with an HP laptop. It seems that Windows 10 (at least, while in preview) does not allow you to disable automatic updates, and rolling back the driver (which solves the problem) won't help much - it will be installed again...

I had exactly the same problem. I managed to solve it partiallly by downloading the Synaptics touchpad driver (Windows 10, 64-bit version). Follow these steps to "partially" solve the issue. Only pointing works now, and the buttons are still inacctive. 1- Download and install Synaptics touchpad driver.2- Restart your laptop. If the problem is solved, you're good to go. If not, do the following:3- Search for (Mouse & Touchpad settings) in the Start Menu and click on it. 4- Scroll all the way down and click on "Additional mouse options". A new winodow (Mouse Properties) with several taps will open.5- Click on the rightmost tap called (ELAN).6- Select "E-Lan Smart-Pad" from the "Device" box.7- Click on "Enable Device".8- If checked, uncheck "Disable when external USB pointing device plug in"9- Then click on "OK" As I said in the beginning, this only solved my problem partially. I am still not able to use the buttons on the touchpad, only pointing works.

ILok Stops Working After Leopard 10.5 Install

After years of trouble-free service, including after software upgrade and OS upgrades through 10.3.9, my iLok no longer functions correctly. It stopped working immediately after installing Leopard on my G4.
When I start the software requiring the iLok license, MachFive (a music sampler plug-in and stand-alone program), I get a message that software is missing and am directed to the Pace website where I can download the latest driver and install it.
I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled the latest driver repeatedly but with no change. The iLok still doesn't work.
I checked it on the iLok website and the licenses are still properly installed on the dongle.
Other things I have tried:
I unplugged all other USB devices except the keyboard and mouse and intalled the iLok directly into the back of the G4. No change.
I upgraded the host software, Digital Performer, to DP6. No change.
I have reinstalled MachFive. No change.
I have tried opening both MachFive 1 and MachFive 2.01. Same result. No Change.
Has anyone heard of, or encountered this problem?
Does anyone have a suggestion or solution?
I would greatly appreciate your help.

I am waiting for MOTU support to get back to me. We'll see what they have to say.
I have had extensive e-mail conversations with iLok support. They were very helpful in sorting out some other strange problems I was having, but when it comes to the problem of the license not loading, their perspective is that, if you have the latest driver, anything that doesn't work is not their responsibility. We've all seen this attitude before, of course.
Your perspective on MOTUs recommendations is interesting. I will look into it further. To their defense (and credit), I will say that the much-earlier version of DP4.6 appeared to load and work perfectly AFTER I upgraded to Leopard. I was impressed. I didn't work with it very long before upgrading to DP6, though. But, based on that, I did have high expectations that the upgrade would work fine. And the software, itself seems to be great. The only problem is the iLok.
Your information about dongle workarounds is also interesting and I will look into that subject further as well, as it might be my only solution in Leopard. I do not know if I am allowed a backup. We will see.
I do have an earlier system I can use, but I'd like to avoid moving backwards, if possible.

HP Pavilion 15-p076 - Touchpad not working after yesterdays driver update

I let HP software update my computer and at first everything worked just fine. After overnight, when I boot up, there is no mouse, touchpad is not working!
I re-install drivers and touchpad is working. I boot few times, and it still works. Next day, it doesn't work anymore.
Now I have installed the drivers three times, twice today.
So is my month old laptop dead already?

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
From the sound of things one of the updates being automatically pushed to your notebook is the source of the problem, either in combination with one of the others or with a security update. This sort of thing sometimes happens, thanks to all the possible combinations of hardware and software.
It is not likely that there is a problem with your notebook.
I would disable the automatic updates and see if the problem recurs. That way you would have more control of what updates are applied.

Windows 7 Only Cancel Button at Clt+Alt+Del After 6500 Driver is Installed

Hi,
We have a fleet of X201 Tablet Laptops and We use the HP Officejet 6500 Printer.
As soon as version 14.00 of the driver is installed on these machines upon restart rather than a username to click onto to login at Clt+Alt+Del a cancel button is displayed.
The only work around we have found is to rebuild the laptop and then install an earlier version of the 6500 driver.
What is causing this and how do we fix it as some users are installing the latest driver themselfs and breaking the laptops.

The same thing is happening all over the hp forums. People are updating printer drivers and then the printer doesn't work. Or some functions are taken away. I have an hp 4280 printer and I'm still using the driver from when I first installed it. Every time hp wants to update, I say no. Mine still works perfect. There have been 4 updated drivers since my version.
It's not Lenovo and it's not your machine. It's hp's buggy drivers.

Excel colors stopped working after MS Office 2007 installed

We use OLE services to create excel spreadsheets and color some of the data cells. For this we use class: I_OI_SPREADSHEET, method: SET_COLOR. The colors are set via an integer parameter but stopped working after we upgraded to MS Office 2007. Now all the cells are colorless. I've searched google, SDN and OSS Notes but can't find any explanation. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Pavillion TouchSmart touch stopped working after HP Photosmart Printer Installed

I bought a new HP Paviliion TouchSmart 23-h056 All-In-One and the touch screen worked just fine. I then installed a HP Photosmart 7520 All-In-One printer/scanner/copier and the mouse pointer works on the screen, but the touch on the monitor no longer works. The system came pre-installed with Windows 8.1. Please help!!!

Cselas1962, welcome to the forum.
Here is the Win 8.1 driver for the printer. I suggest checking to see if the driver that is installed is the same or newer. If the one in the link is newer, you should install it to see if that helps. It could be that there is a driver conflict with the driver for the Touch screen.

GTX580 Lightning; The card "dies" after any driver is installed!

Greetings! I'm here to share my problem hoping someone can help me. :/
Bought an MSI GTX580 LIGHTNING, along with my new set:
i7 2600k(with corsair H60)
asus maximus IV gene-Z(right now, BIOS 0208)
2x4GB corsair dominator 1600Mhz
corsair forceGT 120GB FW1.3
corsair AX1200
WD 1TB caviar black sata3
(everything at stock settings)(if you need any other info to help me, sorry about the lack of, just ask for it and I'll provide them)
Everything went ok, installed windows7 64 bits, got some updates, and then, after I installed the latest nvidia driver available at their website, I rebooted(as asked by the installation), and when it got to the windows login screen, the video went off, it lost signal. So far I did:
- security mode, uninstall driver, then it boots normally into windows
- installed older driver, same problem, loses signal right after typing the password to login on windows
- security mode, uninstall driver, beta driver, latest, same problem
- got back my old HD5870, and it worked normally, played 2 or 3 games to test it, everything is fine.
Then I got to this topic at nvidias forum:

After reading it, realized my motherboard was not yet on the list of "incompatible" ones.
My last attemp will be to update the mother board BIOS, but I really don't think it is going to do any good.
Does anyone also had this problem? What have you done?

PS.: Just remembered that I read somewere about maybe flashing the BIOS would solve it, but I'm very afraid to do that and brick my card.

Aha, you didn't mention this before.
Yes try again, also select custom install when installing the new vga drivers,
and checkmark "clean install".
If no change, then repeat the same steps but try msi's vga drivers for your card, from msi web page.
if problem persist, try switch to LN2 VBIOS and retest.
if no change test the card in another computer.

E71 GPS Stopped Working After 3.03 (10wk11) Instal...

Had I known attempting this Map update would blow out my GPS, I wouldn't have done it.
My current software version in my Straight Talk E71 is 500.21.009. I am a Mac user.
I downloaded this file in hopes of updating my GPS Map software: nokia_maps_3.03_10wk11_b04_s60_3.1_rom.Nocs.sis
I saved that file on my mem card and installed the 3.03 maps onto my E71 using Nokia Multimedia Transfer v1.4.2 for Snow Leopard. I did this over Bluetooth. I power cycled and I cannot use my GPS with full 3G bars. It cannot find "My Position" after driving around town with my E71 searching for hours. I see a red dot in the middle of the screen (now dark screen since it's dark here).
When I go to GPS data on the E71, I see "Searching for GPS satellites", "Calculating GPS data".
When I look at the Satellite Status, I see mostly black bars showing numbers 5, 2, 12, 25, 26 (not sure what this means).
My Positioning Methods/Settings show: Assisted GPS & Integrated GPS checked.
My Positioning Server Access Point show: Tracfone Internet
My Positioning Server Address show: supl.nokia.com
I have also attempted to update my US maps via Bluetooth using the Nokia Map Loader tool only to have it not complete the download. It freezes or crash every time. When it crashes and I force quit, once I restart, I will see a crash log.
I want to also mention that the first time I tried updating the US maps via Bluetooth using the Nokia Map Loader, I believe my maps were deleted.
I have also deleted my CITIES folder and qf file from my memory card, disconnected from Bluetooth, ran Ovi Maps and saw a message that said something was downloading.
I reconnected via Bluetooth then attempted to update maps yet again in the Nokia Map Loader. It now just sits showing "Looking for map data on your phone".
This has been an over 48 hr ordeal.
What is the fix for at least getting my GPS to work again?

This process and experience is ridiculous at this point after numerous, unsuccessful tries.
Update:
Yet again I deleted the \cities folder & qf file from my memory card. I ran Ovi Maps, my cities folder was re-created, I went to My Position and got the expected red dot. Closed Ovi Maps, enabled Bluetooth, connected with the NMT tool then re-ran the Nokia Map Loader.
Surprisingly, the Nokia Map Loader appeared to connect fine with my device without error. When I selected USA Maps, the tool started downloading, got past the half way point and I saw as message stating "unpacking files". It was actively copying whatever part of the downloaded files it had grabbed to my memory card. Great, or so I thought, as this is as far as I've gotten in the last 48 hrs.
I then got an unexpected error in the Nokia Map Loader and the app closed. The error log is in the attached text file on this thread. (EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV))
I restarted the Nokia Map Loader and got the same error to reappear immediately but it re-connected with my device. This is the only app crashing like this on my Mac and giving this error. Previously, the error was EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT).
Now I'm quite annoyed that the Nokia Map Loader does NOT pick up where it left off in the download process before the app crashed. Therefore, I'm attempting to re-download US Maps for the final time, all 1.5GB of it. Hopefully it will complete this time.
Not a good Nokia experience regarding mapping updates at all, at least in the Mac environment.

Photosmart C4780 - Prints extra page even after HP driver update installed

With Mavericks (OS X 10.9.4) installed, I have noticed that completed print jobs remain in the print queue for my HP Photosmart C4780 when printing from Safari and Preview. If I want to print another (different page), I usually have to delete the previous (100% complete) job from the queue so that the printer will print (I seem to recall that sometimes, with a Google Chrome browser, this is not necessary). If I close my MacBook Pro's lid (which puts it to sleep) with a completed print job remaining in the HP queue, it will then print again for a second time.
Today, I installed the driver update below, but the problem did not go away when I tried to print from Safari and Preview.

Sure - restart your router, your printer and your Mac. It should print faster (especially with a router restart).

Macbook air with 10.10.1 keyboard and touchpad stop responding after login screen

Keyboard and touchpad works only at login screen.
I have tried all the PRAM and SMC. reset stuff.
Safe mode, repair etc. Creating another account is not helped either.
I am also using 10.10.1 with macbook air.
I have also called the apple tech support and no results!
And this is obviously a software bug from so called robust yosemite!

Lost Disc recovery after hard drive crashed installed windows 8.1 no drivers

Hard drive crashed and replaced hard drive with ssd, lost all recovery discs then updated to windows 8.1 now i dont have any drivers like finger print scanner and cd discs will not load. It is a hp pavilion dv6-3079tx
