Touchpad stopped working. Laptop won't turn back on.

My laptop stopped working last night (won't turn back on). The touchpad stopped responding. I did a manual shutdown by holding down the power button until it turned off - it won't turn back on when I press the power button.

  • My Ipad stopped working and won't turn back on.

My ipad stopped working suddenly and won't turn back on. What can I do to turn it back on?

Assuming that the battery isn't empty (and it can take up to 15 minutes of charging before it will respond), then have you tried a soft-reset to see if that gets it to boot up ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

My iphone 5 stopped working it won't turn on, and i tried charge it yesterday and today

    Hey raphaccarvalho
If your iPhone is not powering on, then check out the article below to see if you can get it to power back on. You will want to start at step 3 to try and reset it by holding the Sleep/Wake button and Home button for about 10 seconds and see if the Apple Logo comes up.
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
    Regards,

  • IPhone stopped working.  Won't turn on or charge.  Stuck in recovery...

Hello. I need some help with my iPhone... Please help.
    Here is my problem:
The other day I dropped my phone during a call. After picking it up, I looked at the screen and saw that the call ended, and then the screen went black. I have been unable to turn the phone back on since. There is no physical damage seen on the exterior. The phone does not respond when plugged into a wall charger. It does not respond to a simple reset (holding home and power). It only responds when connected to iTunes.
When plugged into the computer (Windows Vista machine), iTunes states "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." I then click restore, and it goes through the process. The screen on the iPhone goes white for a few seconds, then shows the Apple logo - while iTunes is "Preparing the iPhone for restore." After a bit more, a progress bar shows up along with the Apple logo - while iTunes is "Restoring iPhone Software". The "restoring" process completes, showing approx 33% on the iPhone status bar, then iTunes shows "Verifying iPhone software". This completes, showing approx 60% on the iPhone status bar, then iTunes shows "Verifying iPhone restore." The iPhone status bar gets to about 66% and this is where it stops... iTunes never gets past the "Verifying iPhone restore" stage.
I have left this on overnight, as well as tried process many many times over the course of 4 days. After reading various posts around the web, I have tried "Clearing the sync history" in iTunes, and manually deleting the files from these folders: 'AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/iTunes/Device Support/' 'AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPhone Updater Logs/' and 'AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPod Updater Logs/'. I have also tried holding shift while clicking restore, and manually selecting the newest firmware.. I have tried with the SIM card in/out. No matter what, I still get the same results - stuck at "Verifying iPhone restore..."
I am not sure what else to try, short of going to an Apple Store. My phone is 1 year and 3 months old, so it is out of warranty. Will taking it to Apple even help? Or will I have to purchase a replacement? ($199!) ... Because it shut off after being dropped, is there possible internal damage? If so, can this possibly be repaired? And what may the problem be? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

I believe your only option is making an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby where it can be determined if your iPhone can be restored with iTunes there.
If not, more than likely there is a hardware problem with no way to know what the problem is without being diagnostically tested.
Apple doesn't offer a menu of repair services for the iPhone except for replacing the battery for an iPhone that is no longer under warranty. Apple offers an out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price, which pays for an exchange at a discounted price off the full retail sales price ($199 plus tax) which doesn't require signing a new two year contract with AT&T.

  • Macbook Pro wifi stops working, won't turn back on, requires restart to fix?

So for the last two days my Macbook Pro's being doing something very strange. At random times, the wifi will just stop working (as in it thinks I have wifi but no webpages load anymore and my dropbox can't sync) and when I go to turn the wifi off and back on (in an effort to restart the chip thinking it would solve the issue), it won't turn back on. I go into the System Preferences, hit "turn wifi on" and nothing happens. I hit it about 10 times and that does absolutely nothing. I've then tried putting my mac to sleep and waking it back up, which delivers even stranger results; The wifi turns back on, but can't find any networks, both using scan and manually inputting the details of my network. So far the only fix for it is to just restart my Mac and then the wifi works just fine like nothing ever happened (until it happens again, usually a few hours later). I'm currently running OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 on a 15" early 2011 Macbook Pro (MC723LL/A) with 2.2 GHz quad-core i7 and a 1TB Samsung 840 EVO SSD. The most recent modifications I've made are just installing GDB debugger and creating a custom certificate for it to be able to run Eclipse C/C++ IDE on my Mac, but I seriously doubt that would have caused the issue (especially since that was running for a few days before this happened). Has anyone else had a problem like this?

So many people are having this problem. I believe I have solved it. I posted it on another thread, but I will post it here:
First - let me say that I tried trashing the bluetooth preferences and restarting. That worked for about 10 minutes, then I also tried reorder the connections in Network Preferences, that didn't do much either.
Here's what worked: Open System Preference, click on "Energy Saver", uncheck "Wake for network access". This has totally worked for me. I connect flawlessly and immediately to my network and to my printer.
My order of connectivity of network devices is still ordered where Bluetooth is near the last of the devices. But really, try deselecting "Wake for network access"

  • My MacBook Pro 13" won't turn on 90% of the time I try to get it running, and when it does turn on, even on a charger, it shuts down if I stop using it for 2  seconds and it won't turn back on. Should I replace the battery?

My MacBook Pro 13" won't turn on 90% of the time I try to get it running, and when it does turn on, even on a charger, it shuts down if I stop using it for 2+ seconds and it won't turn back on. Should I replace the battery?  It doesn't hold a charge either...

    EmadJamal,
the battery won’t melt because of long connection to the AC charger, although that has the potential of reducing the battery’s life.
Do you have access to a second 60 W AC charger to test with your MacBook Pro, or access to a second 13-inch MacBook Pro against which your AC charger could be tested?

  • I was working on my iPad 1 and it turned off and now it won't turn back on.  It was 50% charged and even when I connect it to be charged it still won't turn on.  Is there a reset button?

I was working on my iPad and it turned off suddenly and now it won't turn back on.  It was at least 50% charged and when I tried to connect the charger it still will not come on.  Is there a reset button?

Thank you so much!  It worked, I was reading around and saw this has happened to a number of iPad users.  Thank you for your prompt response, I was so worried I broke it or something.

  • Proximity sensor not working correctly...screen won't turn back on!

Alright so I'm loving my iPhone 4, but I've been having one glaring issue: the proximity sensor turns off the screen during a call(as normal) but then the screen won't turn back on until I lock, force hangup and lock again. Very frustrating because I was unable to dial a number to be transferred while in a call. Seems like the same issue is going on with other iPhone generations upgrading to iOS4 in the other forum sections, but I'd never think it to happen with a brand new 4. Could it have been my restore file from my 3GS?
Anyone else having this issue? Thanks.

If resetting the phone from Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All didn't do the trick, try doing a hard reset: at the same time, press and hold the home button (bottom of the phone) and power/sleep button (top of the phone) until it restarts. That seems to do the trick for almost everyone.
Will doing the hard reset lose all my settings and data, like the erase iPhone option?
Or will it just reboot it keeping all settings etc?
    Many thanks.

  • Macbook air randomly shuts off and won't turn back on

I have a 2011 Macbook Air that was given to me by my sister. She told me about a year ago she spilled water on the keyboard and it stopped working for a while. She took it to apple and they told her it was going to cost 700 dollars to replace so she decided not to. After a while the laptop randomly turned back on and started working fine. I ended up getting it as a free gift and it was working perfectly fine for about a month and a half until recently it randomly shut off on me. After it shuts off, it wouldn't turn back on through pressing the power button I left it alone and after a day it randomly turned back on and worked like normal. After about 15 minutes of use it randomly shuts down and won't turn back on. I tried resetting SMC to no avail. It randomly turns on for about 15 minutes before it feels like it gets slightly hot and shuts off. Any help will be great!

Try running an Apple Hardware Test:

If you find you can't, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  The evaluation will be free and then you should know what the problems are with your MBA.
