Touchpad (Synaptics) scrolling with two finger gesture is smooth only after scrolling in IE9 before (Firefox 8/9/10 Windows 7 (64)).

First I got the problem solved that 2-finger-gesture scrolling did not work at all: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/895816. Thanks for that!
With "smooth scrolling" turned on in the options, touchpad gesture scrolling is smooth in FF9 but only in 5-line-steps. No stopping in between possible. If touchpad scrolling is performed in IE9 once, scrolling in FF9 is completely smooth afterwards. If the gesture is perfomed once in Google Chrome 16 scrolling in FF9 is turned back to 5-step-scrolling. Chrome 16 and IE9 can be used to turn off and on the completely smooth scrolling in FF9!

  • Safari 5.2 reader do not scroll with 2-finger

    Hi,
I've a macbook pro 13" with Safari 5.2 on Lion 10.7.4 .  When I use Reader, I can't scroll with two-finger multitouch and I need to click on the scrollbar.
There is a way to fix? I've just resetted PRAM but nothing changed...
    Thanks

Don't know what you guys are using but Safari is at 5.1.7 not 5.2. Unless you've got a developer/beta version for testing in which case you know not to post in these forums.

  • Problem with two finger scrolling on s440

    Hello everyone
I have a S440 (touch version) and some Problems with two finger scrolling on the touchpad.
First, it isn't smooth, i.e.. If I move my fingers it only starts scrolling after a second or so, basically when I've already stopped (unless I move very slow). It then makes up for the lost time by scrolling very fast.
The more serious problem (that makes it practically unusable) is that it randomly jumps back up, often to the top of the page/document, sometimes just a page or so.
The problems are worst with firefox and acrobat, with IE and the Microsoft reader there's no response time problem but the jumping upwards still occurs.
The problem is there with the preinstalled Windows 8 as well as my own Windows 8 Pro (with the original Lenovo drivers). Scrolling with the Trackpoint and an external mouse work fine, as well as scrolling via the touchscreen.
Does anyone have any suggestion if/how I can fix this?

I also have a S440 (non-touch screen), the scrolling on the touchpad worked perfectly when I bought it, no jumping, and scrolling perfectly smoothly comparable to an Mac. But after an upgrade to windows 8.1 which broke many things ( despite upgrading all drivers), I reset my thinkpad which brought it back to windows 8, everything working normally again except the two finger scrolling which is no longer smooth (moves incrementally now), and likes to jump randomly up or down the page, (not always, but enough to make it irritating. I notice this mostly with google chrome and adobe reader as these are the apps I use most frequently.
So my questions is what drivers or settings do I need to bring the scrolling back to the configuration it was when I purchased my S440? My device manager says I'm running thinkpad ultranav with Synaptics driver version 16.6.4.38
    Cheers,
    Paul

  • Seriously! I can't rotate photos 90 degrees with a two finger gesture?

I received a mms from my momz and the picture is sideways. I went to rotate the photo with the two finger gesture just like on my mac in iphoto and it didn't work. Why would they leave this out? Seriously I can't do this on the Iphone 4S!? If you know of any way to do it on the phone it would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I still have to tilt the phone a bit so it goes into landscape orientation then tilt my head to line up so I can get the same relative view as if it were right side up.

Different interface? Not completly. Touchpad...Touchscreen... What is the difference? Not really a complete difference. The touchpad is not on top of the screen and the same size (two differences there but the process is the same).  I should be able to use the same gesture whether on my macpro touchpad or the touchscreen of my iphone to do the same thing with photos. They are both touch based devices. Placing two fingers on the touchpad (macPro) or the touchsreen (Iphone 4S) and then rotating each finger in the same orbit should rotate the photo.  Works in Iphoto so the same should work for photos on the Iphone.

three finger or two finger gesture to move back and forward between pages of file only work on safari, unlike with old os. this new lion won't let me do it. Any help?

I have decided to dedicate this thread to the wonderful errors of Lion OSX. Each time I find a huge problem with Lion I will make note of it here.
Today I discovered a new treasure of doggie poop in Lion. No Save As......
I repeat. No Save As. In text editor I couldn't save the file with a new extension. I finally accomplished this oh so majorly difficult task (because we all know how difficult it should be to save a file with a new extension) by pressing duplicate and then saving a copy of the file with a new extension. Yet then I had to delete the first copy and send it to trash. And of course then I have to secure empty trash because if I have to do this the rest of my mac's life I will be taking up a quarter of percentage of space with duplicate files. So this is the real reason they got rid of Save As: so that it would garble up some extra GB on the ole hard disk.
So about 20 minutes of my time were wasted while doing my homework and studying for an exam because I had to look up "how to save a file with a new extension in  mac Lion" and then wasted time sitting here and ranting on this forum until someone over at Apple wakes up from their OSX-coma.
are you freaking kidding me Apple? I mean REALLY?!!!! who the heck designed this?!!! I want to know. I want his or her name and I want to sit down with them and have a long chat. and then I'd probably splash cold water on their face to wake them up.
I am starting to believe that Apple is Satan.

  • I use a Mac (OS 10.6.8) and I have lost two finger gesture of enlarge/shrink, which works in other applications

Ever since I upgraded to firefox 6 I have lost the two finger gesture built into OS 10.6. I have this ability in other programs such as iPhoto, and Safari, but I have lost it in Firefox. Other two finger gestures still work (like scrolling).
I cannot upgrade to Firefox 7 or 8 simply because a Learning Management System that I use for work (Angel) is not compatible with Firefox 7 or 8).

  • Windows 8.1 two finger gestures not working

After I updated to windows 8.1 from  windows 8 yesterday, none of my two finger gestures are working. (e.g. two finger scroll, two finger click, or zoom) I tried updating my Synaptics driver and nothing has changed. I still can not use any of my two finger gestures. One finger scrolling is working properly but the two finger gestures are my favorite. All my gestures worked fine until I updated to windows 8.1...
Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this?
    Please help!

    Hello HelpMe0,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand two-finger prompts are not working since upgrading to Windows 8.1. I will do my best to help, but first, I require the computer's model number. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website: Guide to finding your product number
    Thanks!

  • Using windows vista with two users and I can only open books with adobe digital editions on one account?

using windows vista with two users and I can only open books with adobe digital edition

You must authorize the second computer with the same Adobe ID.
There are sometimes issues with this registration: if you have them ....
Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.

  • Synaptics Pointing Device two finger scrolling randomly fails in Firefox 4 RC

I have an HP Envy laptop with a multitouch pad that uses two-finger scrolling gestures. In Firefox 4 RC, this gesture stops working from time to time. I do not believe the touchpad drivers are at fault, since gestures continue to work in other applications and I have restarted the device to no avail. Restarting firefox clears the problem. I did not have this problem in Firefox 3.6.x.

    Partial Solution!
I have determined the cause of this problem (though I can't be sure it is the only cause of the problem.) If there is a .pdf file open in any tab, two finger scrolling stops working except for that tab. Closing the tab also solves the problem.
However, this just means that I have a more specific bug to report, then, that the scrolling gestures do not function properly when a .pdf is open (with Acrobat viewer) in any tab.

  • Why can't i my scroll with my multi-gesture touchpad in firefox4?

Hi, i have a gateway nv79c48u laptop with intelcore i3-370m processor and also a multi-gesture touchpad etc.. It worked fine with fx3, but since i installed fx4 i can't scroll with the touchpad in a in the firefox browser anymore. in other browsers like internet explorer and chrome it still works fine though.. I wonder if it's a add-on that is causing the problem or if fx4 doesn't support this feature.. i hope it's not the second one though, thanx!

You can't access iCloud.com from a mobile browser. You can from a desktop or laptop computer whose browser identifies it as such.
If you use a browser on your iPad or iPhone which allows changing the browser ID sent to websites, e.g., "Safari" rather than "Mobile Safari" you will be able to access iCloud.com. One such browser is iCab which is available in the App Store

  • MacBook Display - Text Glows or Fades When Scrolling with Two Fingers

I am currently using an early 2008 MacBook Black, OS X 10.5.5, 2.4GHz Penryn, 4GB RAM (CAS 4), 250 GB HDD. I recently came into an Apple Store for a Genius Bar appointment because of a problem with the screen. When I use two finger scrolling and view text on a white background, the text appears to glow (especially blue text) or fade (black fades to an almost imperceptible gray. This behavior appears in Apple's Safari, Pages, Numbers; as well as, Safari. I have not tested beyond this yet.
The Genius at the store had no answer for this behavior and the other early 2008 MacBooks in the Apple Store (Walden Galleria, Buffalo, NY 14225) also exhibit this behavior. The Genius admitted this was annoying when viewing text and it appears to be a driver or OS problem because this behavior is also exhibited on the late 2008 MacBooks and MacBook Pros.
    Suggestions?

It's a characteristic of LCD response time. There is nothing to be done about it except maybe experiment with different colors of text or backgrounds. That's not always practical, I know. Basically, we all have to live with it.

So, I've seemed to solve this problem, in the interm at least.
    1) Open disk utility
    2) Select your HDD
    3) Click "Verify Disk Permissions"
    4) Click "Repair Disk Permissions" (assuming there was an issue)
    5) Once complete, restart your mac
These steps worked for myself, and I've been messing around with both chrome and safari and the two finger scroll hasn't broken yet.

  • Having issues with two-finger swipe and hot corners. Help!

I've lately been having an issue, where my two finger swipe will stop working. I also notice that 3 of my 4 hot corners no longer work, either. The only one that works is the top left. When I restart my computer, or change users, etc, it's fixed for a while, but then the problem will start up again in about an hour.
I've tried the Software Update, and it seems everything is up to date. Any solutions?? I spent a good deal of money on this iMac, and I'm concerned there's something wrong with it.
I have a 27" iMac, which I bought around November 2011. Software is OSX 10.7.5
    Thanks!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
