Touchpad zoom disable permanently

I want to disable pinch zoom for synaptics touchpad permanently, as it's too sensitive and changes zoom when two fingers are over the touch pad. I have disabled it configuration->Mouse and tactil panel->additional configuration->clickpad configuration->pich zoom. But after restarting windows, the configuration is active again.

Did you find Synaptics Clickpad in Control Panel? That is where all settings are for the touchpad.
******Clicking the Thumbs-Up button is a way to say -Thanks!.******

  • U400 Touchpad not disabling after Windows 8 consumer preview installation

    The u400 touchpad used to disable when i pressed the f6 key.  However, once i installed the Windows 8 consumer preview, the touchpad stopped disabling.  I installed the newest driver (the one released Feb 8) and still have no luck.  They funny thing is, when i press f6, a sign appears on the lower right corner that shows a disabled touchpad (touchpad with a line across it).  However, the touchpad still functions.
    This is a pretty big issue for me since I find it nearly impossible to type comfortably without the touchpad being disabled.  (For example, my cursor jumped 5 times when typing this post)  I am sure I am not the only one with this problem.  Please help!  Worse comes to worst, i will reinstall windows 7, but if there is anyway to fix this problem, please let me know.

    I didn't have exactly this issue but wanted to permanently disable but that was not going to be easy. Mine was hypersensitive and totally messed up any keyboard work. I called tech support and they installed new software to lessen the sensitivity but now when I push F6 key to disable, the icon you described keeps popping up every keystroke. These Lenovo guys are just useless and so sorry I bought this computer.

  • Touchpad Zoom

    I want to disable the touchpad zoom on my laptop.  It's super annoying and keeps zooming my emails in and out while I'm typing.  The current driver for the device does not have a "pinch-zoom" check box in the Control Panel>Mouse>Mouse Properties>Device Settings, so I have not been able to remedy the issue with past postings advice.

  • Airport Disable Permanent

    I have 250 Mac differenet Versions MAC OS X 10.4, 10.5, 10.6, 10.7 and 10.8
    I have an issue that in my all Mac's Internet is allow, i can not disable internet.
    All mac's have admin permission, Users in my office share internet through airport and running internet in there mobiles.
    How can i disable airport in my mac in all versions, so that no one can use airport for internet sharing.
    In my office there is no need of Airpot while disable permanently of airport there will be no issue.

    Workgroup Manager will allow you to fairly easily disable airport on each machine, or per user (at least on 10.6+ - I don't recall if the same or similar was available for earlier OS X versions. An admin can override with a little effort, of course - but otherwise you'd have to remove the drivers.

  • GT-70 2OD Touchpad Problem (disabling button) after updating BIOS and EC

    Hi All,
    I was solving issues with random BSOD's (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=176615.0), but now I got the button that Disables the Touchpad malfunctioning.
    I just updated BIOS and EC to 2014-01-17 Versions from MSI website.
    The button is not disabling the touchpad and also the LED is not working (well, it used to turn on when the touchpad was disabled), however the "touchpad enabled" picture is showing on the screen everytime the button is pushed.
    It's not a major thing, but you know how perfectionists are .... Any idea how to solve this? I'm just going to try updating the touchpad driver with latest from MSI website and let you know the result
    Thanks in advance,
    PS: Nice community. I just joined this forum and I received a lot of help already!!!!

    Did you perform the EC Reset procedure outlined on the website?
    Just to reiterate it:
    1. Turn off the laptop.
    2. Remove the Battery.
    3. Remove the AC adapter.
    4. Let the laptop sit there for 20 minutes.
    5. Install the Battery.
    6. Install the AC adapter.
    7. Turn on the laptop.
    This might help fix the issue.
    Yep, I followed step by step to update the EC.
    I just removed original synaptic driver for the touchpad and Installed latest from MSI website. The button doesn't work as before (I was able enable/disable at will), now its behavior is as follows (and I think it was made intelligently):
    You can't disable the touchpad if no other pointing device is present
    When another pointing device is present, the touchpad disables itself and the button LED is ON (as before). You can't enable the touchpad (before I was able to enable it) if another pointing device is present.
    For me, it's OK. BTW... had been about 22 hours without BSOD...
    Thank you guys!!!
    PS: I just realized that I re-connected my PS3 controller via USB (in the very same USB port that I use to connect it) and the laptop REINSTALLED drivers for it...

  • Hp 4510s probook - touchpad pinch--to-zoom disable

    As the subject descibes... I'm trying to figure out how to disable the "pinch-to-zoom" on HP 4510s ProBook.
    It's extremely annoying to be zooming in/out while typing in (e.g. MS Word) if I accidently touch the touchpad with my thumb(s). I'm not looking for adjusting the sensitivity of the touchpad. I have done that. I'm looking for completely disabling the feature.
    Any suggestions or a link to a manual would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

    Hello vasheck, Fortunately, it is relatively easy to configure your touchpad to suit your preferences.
    To start, open up the Control Panel from the Start menu. Then, change to "Classic View" (Vista) or change icon display to "Small icons" (Windows 7).
    Double-click on "Mouse", and the Mouse Properties dialog will open up.
    Click the "Device Settings" tab. Under the list of Synaptics devices installed on your system, click the "Settings..." button.
    Now, the touchpad configuration window will appear.
    Use this to configure your touchpad to work the way you want, there are lots of settings and videos on how to use them in this dialog, so feel free to explore.
    If you want to disable pinch-to-zoom, you can do it by navigating to the "Pointer Motion -> Pinch" category or Zooming category (depending on the version of your driver).
    Once you've got to the Zooming / Pinch Zoom option, simply uncheck it and click OK to disable pinch zoom.
    Other settings, such as sensitivity, can be found here. Basically, every option relating to the operation of your touchpad can be found in this configuration tool. Let me know if you have anymore questions!
    I am an HP employee.

  • Touchpad Zoom issues

    I purchased a Toshiba Satellite M505d.   I'm obviously doing something to the touchpad to make the screen zoom in and out.  I've tried everything I can think of to disable this feature but haven't been succesful.  There is a touchpad icon on the taskbar but no option to disable zooming on it.  I've also tried to fix things in the device manager but again can't find anything to work with.  Anyone know how to fix this poorly designed feature?

    Jerry, thank you, as well, for your less than helpful reply.
    If you actually read my first post you would see that I had already tried to disable the pinch zoom feature using the taskbar icon and the device manager.  And if you had read my other post you would see that I, as a follow-up, posted that pinch zoom apparently cannot be disabled with the particular Alps driver this computer uses.
    Additionally, your advice to "dig deep" in the Control Panel is a great way to ensure a novice screws up their computer. I suppose telling someone to fool around with the registry to fix a problem is coming next.
    Out of curiosity, did you reply to up your post count?  Or are you just a fan of talking...?

  • Touchpad enable/disable

    I've just upgraded to Windows 10. Now whenever I type something the touchpad activiates and my typing zooms in and out, the pointer moves erractically, windows and tabs change. Very annoying. In Windows 8.1 I was able to disable the touchpad but with Windows 10 I'm not able to do that. The only setting I can find allows me to "delay" the pad's clicking. It doesn't seem to be very effective. Is there any way I can disable the touchpad so it doesn't throw my working document into a frenzy?

    Your welcome, KCSkyhawk.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
  • Can Time Machine be disabled permanently?
    I'm in the middle of partitioning a brand new external hard drive (compliments of LaCie - the original (500 GB) had a faulty FW port; they replaced it with a refurb which had a defective on/off switch, so they just sent me a brand new 1 TB model - nice!!); in any case, I choose not to use Time Machine (I prefer a bootable clone) and I've now been prompted (annoyed) with the "do you want to use this for Time Machine" several times; it happens every time I wipe a partition for instance. I have never enabled Time Machine; it's never been turned on or otherwise activated.
    Is there a way to stop Time Machine from asking me/disable it permanently?
    Barbara Daniels1 wrote:
    Basically, I don't need or want an hourly backup - if it could be set to backup once a week at most I'd possibly use it;
    Time Machine is set to automatically back up every hour, but if you would like to change it, you can use the following Terminal (/Applications/Utilities) command:
    You will need to authenticate as an administrator, since this command is run under a "sudo." The time interval is measured in seconds, so you can enter any time you wish there; just make sure it is in seconds.
    The ex. by default, Time Machine backs up every 3600 seconds (every hour.) <integer>3600</integer>
    sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.backupd-auto StartInterval -int 3600
    Like wise you can manually edit the plist
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.backupd-auto.plist
    You can check my math but I believe once a week would be 604800 seconds.
    Hope this helps
  • Nightly for android reflow problems: enabling reflow on zoom, disabling double tap zoom?
    In the current Nightly for Android build:
    1) Page loads, but the font size is tiny
    2) Double tapping always zooms in to the same zoom level
    3) Zooming out from maximum zoom reflows back to minimum zoom reflow
    4) No way to reflow for anything between maximum and minimum size
    So, is there a way to...
    a) Re-enable reflow on zoom, always reflowing the page to the appropriate zoom level
    b) Disable double-tap zooming, also allowing text reflow for any zoom level?
    I have this exact same problem with the Nightly Android build, but I cannot for the life of me find the Accessibility settings. Could you please tell me how to get to the Accessibility settings?
