Touchscreen of treo 60

Good evening,
The touchscreen of my treo 650 doesn't work anymore.
Can you help me, please.
Thanks in advance
Toni

Normal methods of troubleshooting a screen problem:
Run a slice of a business card gently around the inner perimeter of the screen where it meets the frame.  Dirt or grit could be caught there, causing a false screen press.
Try recalibrating the screen - Prefs icon/Touchscreen.
Hard Reset the device.  (Caution! - this will erase it completely, then reload the original programs.  Be sure you have done a recent HotSync.)   Check the device for normal operation BEFORE doing a HotSync.
If none of the above work, the digitizer has gone bad.  Two places we have recommended for fair pricing:
www. usedpdaparts.com  and www.directfix.com

  • Palm Treo 755p touchscreen black - nothing visible - problem???

I'm not very savy with this palm treo phone which I've had for 6 months.  Worked fine until just recently when the touchscreen would not illuminate at all - it's totally black (as though no contact is being made.) I can, however turn the phone on and off and the keypad illuminates as it normally would when in use.  I can even receive phone calls as well (just not able to see anything on the screen as to who is calling etc. I did not drop the phone nor get it wet. Have no idea why this happened or what to do to get the screen working again.  Called for Treo support and besides not being able to understand the customer service guy at all, I was able to finally understand that he was trying to set me up with a work order and that they would charge me $199 (US dollars) to fix the problem.  NO WAY - my son gave me the phone as a gift (IT WAS NEW) but he bought it on the internet.  Does this mean I'm screwed?  I'm not a happy camper - just want to know if there is some way I can get this thing working again without it costing me an arm and a leg. Any suggestions???

  • Treo Pro - Speakerphone turns on during a call, even though I didn't ask it to.

    Hello
Whenever an incoming call comes in the speakerphone on my Treo Pro turns on without being prompted. Have tried hard resetting and disabling the touchscreen during a call (incase it was my ears activating it) but none of this has worked. Can't seem to find anyine else with the same problem.
    Please help!
    Thanks

If you have hard reset the device, and you have disabled the screen this sounds like it may be a hardware issue that you may want to address with Palm customer care at 877-426-3777. There will not be any charge for this if it is a hardware issue and you are still under warranty; however there is a initial fee of 14.95 if you are out of your 90 day free tech support period for tech support to determine this. This would be waived if it turns out to be hardware issue.

  • Need help Please. Which play nice with macs? Palm Treo's Or Tmobile MDA?

Hi all, I post on here from time to time, but hardly anyone ever answers my questions. Here's my dilema. I bought a Tmobile MDA over the weekend that runs microsoft windows mobile 5.0. And while playing with it have noticed some things about it that i think are'nt that good. For example, I like the fact that its a windows os, but think that it's flawed. I have done quite a bit of research but don't think that it's active sync software is even compatible with mac osx. so have'nt even tried to mess with it. now i'm still in the 14 day window and am thinking about returning it. but here's the thing....
I know that tmobile has EDGE, and it's considerably slower than verizon or sprints EVDO. (since i've researched it i know that edge is around the 70-170KBPS range when EVDO has 300-700KBPS) And tonight i was messing with this tmobile MDA and finally got it to work to connect to the net with it using bluetooth and it's "modem" ability to connect it to the web. But it S U C K S! i went to and did a bandwith test and i was only getting like 12.1-27.1kbps download (after running 2 tests) dude, it feels slower than dialup!
so with that bullet against it, comes the compatible part. I can't sycn this thing with my mac for NOTHING! do any of you out there have a palm treo? (either verizon, sprint, or att.... carrier X?) How does it sync with your mac? is it hard? any extra software i need to get/buy? have any of you used it to connect to the net? and if so, how's the speed? And here's an even bettter question... How long did it take to config it to work using the phone as a modem? Did you use bluetooth? or serial link? was it easy to config? Where did you find the instructions?
I know these are a lot of questions, but this is a large investment for me. I mean this thing ain't cheap and it does'nt really play nice. I don't mind paying a little extra, for some peace of mind, and knowing that it won't crash often and will work with my mac. Anyone out there got any other suggestions? I would really appreciate it. I would like your opinion on which one is the easiest to use that plays nice with a mac, and has a interface that's almost as nice. Thank you so much for your time. I will be following this post closely and comment you all back for your replys
Mac Book Pro 1.83 GHZ 512 Ram   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

It really is a toss up cause Ive owned two Treo's and Ive read extensive reviews on Windows mobile devices and it seems to me like they're pretty similar in the way of hardware and software(minus the fact of using different operating systems). So I think the determining factor really ought to be more focused on how much you're willing to pay, and the level of support you get for each device. I recently got rid of my Treo 650 due to an interesting touchscreen problem and got a windows mobile device(should come tomorrow)
in the way of syncing with a mac:
The Treo is extremely simple to set up and use with a Mac(keep in mind Im not talking about the 700w/wx)in every aspect. Palm provides OSx compatible software(though its almost impossible to get rid of after installation). However, in my experience, Palm does not really do a good job in the customer service department. While they have a rather extensive support page for each device(some of the info is outdated), that's pretty much all you get unless you don't mind spending hrs scouring various forums. Talking to customer service is a joke. Like I said I had a problem with the touchscreen and the best the rep could give me was "try a hard reset" and "send it in for repair".
I have yet to experience what windows mobile will be like. At the very least with syncing, theres syncing software made by people who had OSx in mind(ie: Missing Sync or Pocketmac) who will probably be able to help out a lot more in this area and possible also be able to help out with the other issues you mentioned.
a good place to check out would be howardforums.com, you'll probably get better answers there.

  • T/X touchscreen calibration help

I am frustrated with my touchscreen because it won't calibrate no matter how many times I do it.  The alignment is off by different amounts depending on which side of the screen I'm touching.  It's especially irritating entering info in the daily agenda and selecting drop down menus, etc.  It's fine if I'm in the Graffiti area but I can see how much it's off if I test it out in the notepad function.
Anyone know of any other way to calibrate it other than the installed function in preferences?  I hope this is fixable because I really want the Treo 755p and I don't want this issue to happen to the phone too.
    Thanx!

Thanks Stevemark.  The calibration software did work.  But I still have limited writing space in the graffiti squares.  Only the lower right quarter works.  Everywhere else it skips and I end up with periods or a period and a wrong letter.  Also the capitals area is very limited and I often have to retry 4-5x before I get the right letter.  Any suggestions?

This is now happening to me too - more over just the last week. Strange things happen - setting the clock alarm freezes the Pre. Also, after charging - battery icon does not appear - coupled with the touchscreen freeze but buttons working (these are 2 single instances - although charging on the Touchstone has been quirky). Over the last 10 days, several Palm Pre initiated resets (just like my old Treo) so something must be wacky. So far for me, the power button press and back & forth ringer method has successfully rebooted and 'fixed' the 'freeze' problem. Did you have and end resolution?

  • Continue Support for PALM Treo PRO Please

It's Like Palm Treo Pro was left out to Dry.  Palm, I have been a Palm customer since your first Treo and I have never seen such a horrible thing to do to your faithfull customers
I suggest Palm to try to have a group work on an WebOS like the pre; For the Treo Pro (who went thru a rapped replacement with the Pre then the Pixi after customers belived in Palm with its last TREO). The Treo Pro, which is a good phone, but with little or no support since it came out.
Make an anauncment for this support or an Upgrade or Recall for those customeres all around the world.
Hey "HP", if your the new owner of Palm then have the Treo Pro as an example of good business with HP treo, have Microsoft upgrade this phone, the Palm Treo Pro W850 to the new Windows Mobile 7 for the Treo Pro.  Hope to here from you soon.

The Treo Pro is a good WinMoPro 6.1 phone. As far as I know, that is all it will ever be.
You can't bring webOS to a the Treo Pro's 320x320 resistive touchscreen; it wouldn't be the same experience at all, even if it worked.
To me, WinMoPro 6.1 feels more productive than WinMo 6.5. If you miss the improved IE, you can improve your web experience with the Skyfire browser, or Opera Mobile. The usefulness of Win7 remains a question mark, but I doubt the Treo Pro satisfies its hardware requirements.

  • NEW PALM TREO PRO - WinOS or PalmOS?

--Originally under practice board. I found out the practice board was being deleted/ updated regularly--
    Hello,
I've been a loyal palm user for the past 7 years. The reason being is that I LOVE the functionality of PALM OS.  So my question is.. why use Windows mobile?! Is it because you are targeting corporate america and most of the users use Windows? I think the reason why Palm has been so successful in the past (well to me.. that is) is because you are different. Everyone is loving the iphone but i still think it lacks the functionality that the treo pro has (like video capture).
I don't like WINDOWS! I want the treo pro to be able to sync to my Mac! Windows is so unstable. You must be saying to yourself, well this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Windows has been around for awhile and it provides users end to end applications. Well I am a bioinformatician and i have used many different applications and operating systems. I think one of the best mobile OS out there is Palm. So do not be afraid that the majority of consumers prefer windows mobile rather than palm. The main reason is that most haven't been exposed to the OS and hasn't given it a chance to grow on themselves. Palm OS will be the new mac in mobile technology. Develop the Palm OS and make the necessary upgrades and your company will grow just like apple did. Mac has been the major use for most universities and corporate offices. So please, as a PALM company... you need to market PALM OS. You are already in the lead because your competition (blackberry) doesn't even have their own OS.
    I hate windows.
    Your friend,
    mac and palm addict.
    UPDATE:
Sorry but I have to voice my concerns about the Windows Mobile OS on the new Treo Pro.
    Please go here: http://blog.palm.com/palm/2008/08/meet-the-treo-p.html
There are a lot of Palm Users who prefer PalmOS. So why not make your current customers happy? Obviously, the happier your current customers will be the more we will advertise (by word of mouth) and gloat to our competitors that our device is more proficient. Which will in turn lead to new users who are targeted to buying the treo because of PalmOS. (Quality and loyal customers you will have )
I would just like to know other members' opinions on this and who would prefer a palmOS over a WinOS.  So please give me your feedback.
Post relates to: Treo 680 (Unlocked GSM)

I have been a loyal Palm user for the last 8 years, my first device was a monochrome model Vx. Those were the days when you carried the PDA in one hand and the cel phone on the other. I have upgrated my hardware since then, from the Vx to my current 680, passing through models like the Tungsten T and the 650. When Palm PDA´s evolved to smartphones and I got my 650 it was, gadgetwise, the happiest days of my life.
Meanwhile other brands and models made their appearence in the smartphone market but I always remained a faithfull user of Palm. I've had the 680 for over a year now, and have been expecting the release of a newer model based on Palm OS.
Recently I heard that Palm is to discontinue their OS and stick to Windows Mobile. One of the main reasons is the inability to make Wi-Fi and GPS run integrated on a Palm OS driven device, which is actually one of their biggest con's. Those news, if true, are sad and very disapointing.
Right now I am evaluating if my next device will be a Blackberry or a Windows Mobile smartphone. The only issue with RIM is that is not touchscreen, a big flaw, although apparently they are to release a touchscreen device by next year. HTC is launching a device that runs on Google's new Linux based Android. I've seen the the announcement of the lattest Treo Pro and it looks prettty cool, though a little expensive. If Palm OS is no longer to be available then Palm devices are not longer a must for me either. Better said, I don´t think I'll ever want to hear of Palm if they discontinue (which also means to stop developing and enhancing) Palm OS.
I still can't believe I'm bound to go through the painful and disturbing process of migrating and getting used to a different OS. Palm DeskTop is always the first to start on my Windows laptop. I wish Palm had the courage and the ethics to clarify these rumors and their intention so we can start taking action, it would help them redeem for their detraction.

  • Treo650 - intermittent touchscreen and audio

    Hi Everyone:
I have had my Treo650 for over 3yrs now....no problems until last week.  For some reason the touchscreen will stop registering touches (the on screeen "buttons" don't don't even depress the way they used to) and the speaker stops at the same time.  When this happens, I can navigate the menus using the keypad and make a call, but I cannot hear anything.  I can also receive a call in this mode, but there is no ringtone...only vibrate...and if i answer, I cannot hear anyone (or they me).  I have some how been able to get the Treo working normally (I regain audio and touch screen capability) by sometimes pullingh the battery, pulling the SD card or cursing at it.
If it is a faulty screen and/or digitizer, could it have an effect on the audio as well?  Any other possibilities?  I really like my 650 and don't want to toss it, so any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

This sounds like a software related issue. Have you added any new applications lately? you can try a hard reset and test the device without syncing you data back from Palm DT or Outlook. If no freezing occurs you can try renaming the backup folder to prevent any application for re-installing and then sync your data back. See if the problem comes back. The last thing you can try is to create a new user, hard reset the device and sync to the new user name. Then you can export you data from your original user name, and them import the data to the new user name.

  • Touchscreen doesn't function

My Treo 755p is having issues with the touchscreen - it won't work at all.  I tried going into settings to re-calibrate, but touching with the stylus didn't register.  I tried syncing with my computer - that didn't work.  I tried a hard reset - still no luck.
The only thing I can think that might have caused this is that I had to walk through the pouring rain last night with it in my pocket.  But it worked for a while after this.
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Verizon)

Theres a very good possibility you're right about the rain. If a hard reset won't bring it back the last thing you might want to try is to remove the battery cover and battery and just let it set for a couple of days to see if it will dry out. If not, it will need to be repaired or replaced.

  • Touchscreen alignment app "broken"

My touchscreen alignment is a little off. But when I try to run the alignment app, the "done" button disappears. I can tap in an endless cycle of upper-left, center, bottom-right. But after the first time I tap, the done button has disappeared. Also, the hard buttons do not work. The only way out is to soft reset.
Is there a way to re-install this app? Was this broken by some kind of upgrade?
Bottom line, how do I get this app to work for me so I can recalibrate my touchscreen?
    Post relates to: Palm TX

Welcome to the Forum. You are experiencing what is called "stuck in a calibrating loop". There some things you can try, I will start with the easy one.
If you have a screen protector that may be what is causing the problem. I have read posts that removing the screen protector and cleaning the rim of the screen with a piece of plain copy paper can solve some screen problems. Residue from the screen protector, dust, or grit can build up and cause a false tap. Also an air bubble under the screen protector can cause a false tap. Test the screen, if its works okay, put a new screen protector on, making sure you don't have any bubbles.
If that doesn't help, recently, three or four members have reported success with file called Power Digiv 2, which they downloaded at www.palmpowerups.com . You don't have to click "Buy", you can download the trial version to your computer and install, and then the next time you Hotsync your digitizer problem will be fixed. They say it is amazing. One Forum member was so impressed that he went ahead and purchased it for $16.95, incase his digitizer went out again and said it was well worth it. When you are at the palmpowerups site click the word "Download" under the third button that PowerDiGi.  (Others who may read this please note it does not work on Treos, Power DiGi only works with screen resolutions of 320 X 480.)
If that doesn't help, it means your touch screen/digitizer is going out and problem will get to the point that bottom of the screen (Status Bar and keyboard) won't respond to the stylus and writing in note pad just makes scribbles all over the screen. You can get replacements at www.usedpdaparts.com and for $10.00 they will install it. You also get replacements at www.pdaparts.com and they have directions and videos for installing them yourself.
I had the touch screen/digitizer replaced in one of my T3's, but I didn't know about PowerDiGi back then. Next time, I am going to try it. Best of luck and let us know how you do.
