Touchscreen quit working on P55t-A5202 after Windows 8.1 update

I updated to Windows 8.1 and my touchscreen quit working.  I have avoided all updates on Toshiba,  but have just installed 7 of them including bios update hoping to fix the problem.  No help!  Still no touch screen.   Went to help forum...told to uninstall the human interface device drives on my laptop and reload them.  Did that to NO avail..still doesn't work!   HELP!  Was hoping Windows 10 would auto fix but I truly doubt it!!!   Can anyone help me please?

What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information

When I connect my laptop to the TV, the video comes out fine, but the audio for the TV does not show up in playback devices. It worked fine with windows 8, but after the windows 8.1 update it stopped.
I have tried updating realtek drivers, but it still doesn't show up. updating other drivers also doesn't work. plugging the cable into the computer then booting it up also doesn't work like it did for other people. This is really making me mad... any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried assigning HDMI one on audio tab as default and see if sound will come out to tv? if so then that was the problem.

  • Firefox 4 does not work on my G5. After prompting me to update from previous version I am now left with nothing functioning. How do I go back?

After downloading the latest update Firefox kindly told me I should upgrade to V4. So I did. I downloaded it, dropped it into my applications folder and overwrote the old version. Only to be told when attempting to start the application "Firefox does not work with this architecture".
Brilliant. So I look for an older version on the site, and there is nothing to be found. Just the insistance that I should download version 4 for my Mac. Well, "IT DOESN"T WORK GUYS!"
Now can we have a fix please quickly or a link to the older version, as I am now left without all my bookmarks or passwords and you are about to effectively isolate a section of the computing community from ever using you again.

For your toolbars that you had installed before, are they simply incompatible with the latest version of Firefox?

  • Unable to boot from ODD or USB after windows 8.1 update on P850-31L

    Hi
I just updated a P850-31L to windows 8.1 from windows 8 through the windows store.
Before the update I was able to boot from a USB drive by pressing F12 during start up.
After the update I was no longer able to boot from the USB drive. Selecting the USB drive by changing the boot order in BIOS setup via F2 or by pressing F12 no longer works.
Booting from ODD is also no longer possible.
The BIOS version is 6.70 and does not allow secure boot to be disabled. However the DVD and the USB stick I tried are signed Ubuntu 12.10 which worked prior to the upgrade. Fastboot in windows 8.1 is disabled.
This would then appear to be a bug in the Toshiba BIOS? Or has the windows 8.1 updated the BIOS or the EFI boot partition in such a way as to override the BIOS setting? Really stuck here, doesn't seem to be much information about.
Any thoughts or assistance would be very much appreciated!
    Thanks
    Michael
Update: I just tried booting from the Toshiba windows 8 recovery DVD and this no longer works either.

    OK I fixed this.
Firstly it's worth noting that it is possible to to disable secure boot in the 6.70 BIOS.
However this option is only available when the user password is not set in the security menu.
After enabling or disabling the password a reboot is required to make the secure boot enable/disable option either available or unavailable.
That's good I suppose as I guess it may prevent secure boot from being disabled when the machine is running. However this does not appear to have been related to this issue.
I selected the 'reset to factory defaults' option on the exit menu.
The machine was then able to boot from USB and DVD. The boot order was also respected.
Perhaps the windows 8.1 upgrade somehow invisibly corrupted the BIOS settings. Or maybe it was just a stranage co-incidence that the BIOS corrupted itself during the install. Either way that factory reset fixed it.

  • IDT High Definition (HD) Audio Driver problem after windows 8.1 update 1.

Hello. I have HP Probook 4730s. After I installed Windows 8.1 update 1 the sound driver stopped working properly. When I want to play some music, video or even system sounds, sound appears after 1-2 minutes. At that time HDD usage is 100% cause of windows audio device graph isolation. I’ve installed that IDT High Definition (HD) Audio Driver from HP’s driver support site, but that’s not working. As I see in device manager driver’s release date is 24.10.2012. I think, it’s too old for Windows 8.1. Can you help me? Is there any other newer version of that sound driver? Also I’m sending two pictures where are HDD usage and driver release date.

  • After Windows 8.1 update Lenovo L420 has half the WLAN speed

After the Windows 8.1 update my L420 WLan only works with 55 MBit max. In Windows 8.0 it was between 120 and 150 Mbit. I have the 1x1 11b/g/n W-LAN-PCI-Express-Half-Mini-Card-Adapter. Lenovo L420 is 7854-4LG.
The WLAN driver is a Microsoft driver as in Windows 8 but a newer version.
How can I get the Windows 8 driver back?
Why doesn't provide Lenovo a driver as with Windows 7?
Is Lenovo not testing any of their Laptops for compatibility?
    Any help?

I found a solution in the meantime: I loaded  the driver for the RTL8188CE chipset from the REALTEK site.
Now I'm back between 120 and 150 MBit.

  • 200478 no channels in task after Windows 7 auto updates

MS pushed a Win7 update this morning while I had Labview open, but was not actually running any VI's. After that, several VI's that had been working yesterday, and have not been changed in any way hung when accessing my USB-6251 at the acquisition timing setup step, and after some time bombed. I also could not start the test interface in MAX but it did recognize the hardware. I noticed 2 listings for this hardware and on starting MAX and would first get an error message claiming the data base was corrupt (this box could be closed). I used the max reset feature to reset the data base. Now MAX features work ok and data transfer can be tested there and seems to work fine (in MAX). When I run my LV programs however, now they immediately bomb after the timing setup step when I attempt to  simply read the sample clock rate using a property node (also has always worked before)  with error 200478 claiming there are no channels in the task. Clearly there are; the program has not changed since yesterday when it worked fine. Obviously, the windows push corrupted something in the DAQmx arena. How do I clean this up?  Thanks.

First thing I would try is a forced recompile (Ctrl-Shift Run Button).
Have you tried building up the same logic in a new VI?

  • Slow after windows 8.1 update

I have recently done the windows 8.1 update on my laptop and now for some reason when ever i boot the laptop up it takes forever to load. before the update the laptop booted in about 17s but after it takes more like 30s. i tried solving this problem myself but haven’t had much luck. what i have found that if i uninstall or disable my Intel HD graphics 4000 card it seems to solve the problem but i need my graphics card on the play some games etc. so my thought is it must be a hardware problem or a driver problem.
    Can anyone help??

Hello MooreMoose, welcome to the HP forums.
It appears that your notebook is slow too start up after an update. I will try to help you with this.
Start by doing a clean boot. This will have you disable start-up items and services that aren't essential to have running when the computer first starts.
This could also help in determining if an application is behind the slowness. If the behavior continues, then it would be something updated or the OS. If this is the case, please start by doing a system restore. I recommend doing a restore from safe mode, to ensure it goes through correctly.
I will leave you to start with this, please let me know how everything goes.
Thank you for posting on the HP forums.

  • Windows Image Acquisition directory disapperaed after Windows 8.1 update

Hello to everybody, I recently found out that my pc, ASUS N750JV doesn't detect the integrated webcam after updating to Windows 8.1. I looked in the Device Manager to solve the problem but the dicrectory Windows Image Acquisition simply disappeared. So I
called ASUS Tech Assistance but after installing all the relative drivers they suggested me (windows 8) without result, they told me to format C:/ and go back to Windows 8. Can you help me with some solution before formatting the all the softwares I have installed?
Can you help me? I'm rather upset about this fact. My pc is new and Windows 8.1 even newer...

    Hi,
Have you checked out that whether the webcam is fully supported in Windows 8.1\compatible with Windows 8.1? In other words, can you find the specific device driver for Windows 8.1 on the manufacture website?
Latest drivers and related webcam software are usually the cause of this kind of issue.
If you have a restore point, return the system state to a previous state at in case some recent changes mifght cause this issue, check if issue persists (you will lose some recent settings) (this solution is based on a situation that the webcam
was working for some time after you upgraded to Windows 8.1)
