Touchscreen sensitivity issues P55w

Hi, I recently purchased a P55w B5224 laptop, but since day 1 I have had issues with the touchscreen. At first I thought it was a random happenning, getting weird taps and touches by itself (as if a ghost child were tapping everywhere in the screen). This of course caused a lot of problems because I would close and open windows, folders etc. making the computer unusable. Tried updating the computer via windows updates, updating drivers via toshiba website AND via device manager, even deleting everything and restoring to fabric state. no solution. Suddenly one day I detected that at low to dim brightness the issue is near non existent, so I tried disabling auto brightness to test this. Anywhere over 40% brightness, the taps appear. So for now I have auto brightness turned off, and working on 35% brightness so it doesnt happen, but still there are moments when on a well lit place my computer is too dark, and it is not a real solution to the taps issue. Does anyone know what to do in this case? I am desperate since this is a very nice computer and i bought it specifically for its tablet mode and touchscreen. Thank you.

Today as a result of the windows10 upgrade, I decided to do a clean install (backup everything on an external HDD, then say in the upgrade not to keep anything at all) and so far.... I have had not a single problem with the touchscreen and brightness! Its been only 48 hours so far... so still have some tests to do, but it does seeem that its not a hardware issue, but rather a faulty driver from Toshiba.  It is worth mentioning that a clean install of windows deletes the toshiba apps that came preinstalled, like the one that allowed it to charge a device via usb while in sleep mode, the one that autorotated for tablet mode,  or the one that controls the layout of the keyboard buttons (they function buttons and their Fn setting are now inverted but still work) so if you want those things back you can just go to toshiba support downloads. As I said, I will keep trying and hopefully the guys at toshiba will fix/update the faulty driver

  • Touchscreen sensitivity issues

    I've had my iPhone 4 since launch day here in UK, but for the past few days/weeks I've noticed that it's taking a lot more 'effort' to get the screen to register my inputs. I've had various iPhone's for years so have become accustomed to the sensitivity, now typing fast is impossible because it misses a lot of my taps.
    Could this be a hardware issue with my iPhone, and has anyone else had this problem? I'm unsure about whether the touchscreen could develop this sort of problem, but I've restored my phone a couple of times before and the issue still remained. It's the sort of thing where I imagine me taking this into the Apple store would be fruitless seeing as it's seems like a petty problem.

    Few things you may want to try.
    Hard reset. By holding the power button and the sleep/wake button for 10-15 seconds until apple logo appears (ignoring the red slider).
    If that did not work, try restoring. You have 2 options from restoring.
    Restore from New. This erase everything on your phone and is basically like the day you got it.
    Restore from Back up. Sometimes not recommended, as the issue can carry over (not all the time but it is a possibility).
    If none of the above fixes the issue, then you may need to set up an appointment with the genius and have them take a look at it. If they find it faulty, they will likely to replace your phone.

  • Case Sensitivity Issue with Latin Characters

    Hi,
    The Latin Character that i am talking abt is "i",
    I am trying to provide in my application the support for Azeri-Latin(Turkish family) Characters,
    That is the display and the orientation of characters is perfectly fine throughout the flow of application.
    But now there is a problem when selecting a data from DB using like constraint in where clause... The issue has been elaborated below...
    From the set of characters there are two character in which i am facing Case Sensitivity issue...
    They are as,
    i ---> the capital of same is ---> İ
    ı ---> the capital of same is ---> I
    now in english character mapping,
    for i ---> the capital is ---> I
    So, this is creating an issue...
    Now the test i have done is as follows,
    I created a table as,
    Create Table CS
    CS1 VARCHAR2(20)
    Following is the data that is inserted in the table,
    Insert into CS values('İ');
    Insert into CS values('i');
    Insert into CS values('I');
    Insert into CS values('ı');
    now i am running the following query,
    Select * from CS where lower(CS1) like lower('%&a%');
    for characters "i","İ","I" it returns 3 rows, that are,
    i
    İ
    I
    and for character ı it only returns,
    ı
    ideally for characters "i" & "İ" should be mapped with each other and "ı" & "I" should be mapped with each other respectively.
    But that is not the case.
    I am using Oracle 10g
    my NLS_database_parameters are as follows,

    I'm not fully understand your question but I guess you may need to set up NLS_LANGUAGE, NLS_TERRITORY db parameters and client NLS_LANG.
    eg client NLS_LANG=TURKISH_AZERBAIJAN.AL32UTF8 and db parameters NLS_LANGUAGE=TURKISH, NLS_TERRITORY=AZERBAIJAN

    or you need something like this:
    Example 5-16 Matching with the Base Letter Operator [==]

  • Inserting & Deleting in Trees?? Time sensitive issue

    We have a tree that is populated with information linked to a client. When the user clicks on a node, it populates a block to the right with that data. Then the user can manipulate that data on the block to the right. If the users inserts a new record in the block on the right, in the key-crerec trigger for that block, I am also inserted a node into the tree with "[] New Item" as the Label and "0" as the value. My question is how do I delete this node if the user decides not to save. For example, they insert a new record, fill in all the data and then click on another node in the tree (to see it's data). The form pops the message "Do you want to save your changes?" (this message is coming from FORMS not me. If the user says "No". The record is not saved but the node still appears in the tree. Where do I put the code to delete the node?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is a time sensitive issue.

    Just a guess (never did that before) - servlets are server-side code. As you already suspected, it's looking for that c:\... file on the server, not on the client. Shouldn't you instead get the upload (input) stream from the request?

  • Case sensitive issue CF7 & SQL 2005

    I had to rebuild a database from a backup recently. Now I am having a case sensitive issue in my queries that I did not have before.
    The following use to work with Rockmart in lowercase even though Rockmart was in the table as all uppercase like so ROCKMART.
    <cfquery name="updateAreas" datasource="mySource">
       UPDATE Property
       SET AR = 3610
       WHERE  City = 'Rockmart'
    </cfquery>
    The above has stopped working now the query must specify ROCKMART because it is in the table in all upper case.
    My database option is set to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS
    Any ideas.
    Many thanks for you help.
    Brian

    A collation can be specified at the server, database, and column level in SQL server.  The column collation will take precedence over the database collation.  Check that the collation for the column is case-insensitive.  You can use the query below to get the column's collation.
    SELECT COLUMN_NAME, COLLATION_NAME
    FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS
    WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'Property'
        AND COLUMN_NAME = 'City'
    You can get info on the collations supported by SQL Server at:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms144250%28SQL.90%29.aspx
    You can change a column's collation if you need to, but you should be sure that this will not affect any other applications which query the same data.  Another option is to specify the desired collation in your query as suggested by glynjackson.

  • Wacom / Bamboo CTL-470, Sensitivity Issue After 4~ secs

    Hey guys.
    I'm using a Bamboo CTL-470 tablet that has a pretty significant issue that does not exist in Windows (this is a dual boot system and I've tested it just this morning to confirm). After installing using https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=131831 to install the tablet, I can confirm the tablet does indeed work in X. This can be shown using MyPaint, Gimp, even using the tablet as a mouse temporarily.
    The only problem that I cannot dodge seems to involve the sensitivity. It seems every four to five seconds when drawing a straight line the tablet completely loses it's ability to make a mark for all of a split second, and then it begins writing again at a much less sensitive rate.. which, it's worth noting, I haven't changed how hard my pen is pressing on the tablet at this point.
    I'm not sure how else to describe it other than the above, but I can tell you it makes drawing virtually impossible if you're wanting long, smooth lines.
    I can tell you this seems to be a sensitivity issue because if I disable sensitivity and try drawing with it as a sketch w/ no differences in how hard the pen is being pressed, the pen continues writing smooth, long lines.
    Having top running while MyPaint is going shows python 2.7 is running around 9% CPU while the tablet is in use. And it doesn't seem there are any other processes that would give issue every four to five seconds.. ??
    I'll try about anything to prevent logging back into Windows just to draw. Any suggestions?

    Okay, totally not sure whether or not to mark this 'solved' because this does indeed help the sensitivity issue, but there's another problem that is worth talking about.
    Since using this wacom.ko and installing it (like mentioned in another Wacom thread I've been replying to), it seems suddenly the mouse in X / KDE 4.8 goes absolutely haywire and shoots to the left side of the screen, and the tablet will work but then the mouse will shoot off to the left side again. The only fix to this I'm aware of for the interim, interestingly, is by hitting CTRL+ALT+F1 and then CTRL+ALT+F7 to come back to X, which the mouse and tablet both function normally again.
    Besides the fact the screen also goes absolutely haywire and shoots through all of the virtual desktops (I've 4 of them), Yakuake reports an up arrow ASCII being sent over and over and over.
    In an hour period, the tablet causing the mouse to go crazy has happened automagically without my input four times. I don't seem to do anything to trigger it, either.. the mouse just kind of randomly starts going nuts.
    Does this happen to anyone else? Suggestions to fix it?
    ** EDIT: The QPainter issue was not related to this, therefore it's removal from this thread is required. One word: QMMP.

  • IPod 5th generation screen touch sensitivity issues?? Lack of sensitivity!!

    Hello all! I am just wondering if anyone else has issues with the sensitivity of their screen to touch? I have to tap my screen multiple times especially along the edges or if the buttons on the screen are smaller. The Airplane mode one is tricky for me.
    I play a game called CSR Racing and find that sometimes the buttons don't respond well.
    Is anyone out there having any issues with their screens? Should I be worried and call Apple? It gets annoying when you have to tap multiple times or have your finger tip positioned just right.
    Post up if you have any issues at all, thanks!!

    I've noticed this, too. I have new iPod touch 5th generation. Where I find it troublesome is in something like Contacts or Music. When I am looking for a contact or a song and the list of letters A-Z shows up on the right hand side, I have a to tap a letter several times before I get any response. I wasn't sure if this was a hardware or software problem, or if the letters are so small that my finger hits too many at one time. Then I noticed that when I am relaxing with a game of Solitaire, the cards along the right edge of the screen often won't respond on the first tap. I am curious about this, too. Otherwise I am pretty happy with my new iPod.

  • Screen sensitivity issues

    I'm having a problem with the screen sensitivity on my iPad. There seems to be a certain area on the screen that is dead to the touch. When I try to file up or down in that area it won't work. But if I move over a bit, my touch is then recognized. Sometimes the screen recognizes a down movement but not an up movement. I've checked to make sure the screen is clean and have done a hard reset, which doesn't seem to help. But in writing this, I've found no dead spots. It only seems to be fileing up or down.

    I've had a similar issue, was interested to hear of your solutions and will try a restore but doubt it will work because I've had this problem for as long as ive had the ipad. Would be interested to hear how you got on VadimM please.
    It first came to my attention when I was on the main screen and trying to reposition certain apps by dragging them across the middle of the screen. Apps on the right of the screen do not drag easy/at-all across the middle part to the left of the screen and vice-versa.
    The same has happened in games and apps, for instance Words with Friends there are certain places I just cannot drag a tile to.
    When I was using iAnnotatePDF and mucking around with the drawing tool testing this, I couldn't draw a circle (broke in the middle) and couldnt draw a line through that difficult area.
    For some of the time I am lucky enough to be able to switch to portrait (or landscape) and reposition the material on the screen so that I am clicking in a different part and avoiding the middle of the screen, but the problem is becoming annoying.
    Thanks, anyone else have this problem and any other solutions out there or is my ipad faulty?

  • Key Sensitivity Issue

    My "s" became very sensitive. It reacts immediately even with a slight touch, before the actual "click" of the key......
    So when I press the "s", I get most of the time "ds", “ws” and “as”………any help would be appreciated!

    Restart your phone to see if that corrects the issue. Press and hold your power button for about 15 seconds until you see BlackBerry on the screen, ignoring anything that appears before that.
    Do that and post back with your results. Cheers.

  • Column header sort - case sensitivity issue

    Hi guys,
    I'm having an issue with the built in column sorting when you click the headers on a report. Basically case sensitivity is taken into account and capital letters get sorted before smaller case letters, for example:
    Cats
    Dogs
    Zebra
    ants
    bears
    How would I be able to fix this built in sort?
    Thanks,

  • User Password case sensitivity issue.

    Hi,
    I have been migrated users from EBS to OID, but having some issues like some existing users password in EBS are in Capital letters but when they connect with SSO the same password not accepted, but users can connect same password in small letters.
    How I can solve this issue????????
    Senario:
    1: Existing EBS User:(Before integration of OID+SSO), users are directly connecting with EBS.
    User Name: HINA.SARWAR-----------(Not case sensitive)
    Password: ABCDEF -----------( Case sensitive)
    2: Existing EBS User:(After integration of OID+SSO), user are connecting via SSO.
    Eexpected behavior is that users should logon with above pass "ABCDEF", but they cannot.
    eg:-
    Cannot connect as:
    User Name: HINA.SARWAR -----------(Not case sensitive)
    Password: ABCDEF -----------( Case sensitive)
    Can connect as:
    User Name: HINA.SARWAR -----------(Not case sensitive)
    Password: abcdef -----------( Case sensitive)
    thx

  • Sensitivity Issue With Stylus on Yoga S1

    I recently purchased the Thinkpad Yoga S1 and use it for school. I mainly use the tablet mode for writing notes in class. I am having issues with the sensitivity of the pen when using OneNote, mainly when switching from different pens or highlighters. The pen will start marking on the screen without actually touching the screen with the stylus. I have been able to mark on the screen while holding the pen up to 2 or 3 inches from the screen. I have calibrated the pen multiple times which ends up being hit or miss if it actually helps.
    TL;DR The stylus is writing in OneNote while being held up to 2 inches from the screen. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

    I have the EXACT same issue.  I have been doing research and have not found a solution.  It is very irritating.  I want to like my new Yoga, but am getting frustrated with quirks like this one... especially compared to the intuitive performance of my other Apple products.  Please help me find a solution so that I can feel better about my new work computer that I was so excited to receive!  Thanks!!!

    Hello and welcome to the Forums.
    Unfortunately if you have truly done the hard reset as stated and the issue persists, the only thing left at this point is to setup a repair or replace of the device.
    To discuss repair options you can contact us at 866-935-7256 to see what the options are. Also you can go to DirectFix.com and they have replacement parts and do repairs as well.
    Hope this helps.

  • Gah! Any new news on the mouse acceleration / sensitivity issue?

    Greetings everyone! My first post! go me!
    I just got my mackbook pro two days ago, and have been having a HECK of a time getting the mouse to 'feel' good. I'm using a USB Logitech optical mouse and have downloaded the logitech software.
    The software provided by logitech provides lots of helpful options for button assignment and scroll wheel behavior, but has no sliders for acceleration or tracking sensitivity.
    I've been to system preferences > mouse/kb and played with the mouse tracking sensitivity with no luck.
    The problem is that when moving the mouse small distances, the acceleration seems to be more pronounced and moving my cursor a few dozen pixels takes way more movement than I want it to.
    I searched the forums for similar issues and came accross mousezoom and imousefix, both of which helped a lot on the larger scale of moving the cursor screen wide, but did nothing to help the problem of finite movement. Even imousefix, which has a checkbox for 'turn off acceleration' doesnt actually eliminate the acceleration.
    I tried using the two tools in conjunction and didnt have very good results.
    I was hoping that in the last several months since those threads were posted there has been some new development or someone who may have something to suggest
    Please help! I love my macbook but this mouse movement is *mind numbing* I'd rather I was able to tweak it than just be told 'get used to it'

    That's my impression too. Changing the mouse slider results directly in different values for com.apple.mouse.scaling. You can see this by running this command after changing the slider:
    defaults read -globalDomain com.apple.mouse.scaling
    I'm a long time Mac fan and first time Mac owner and the lack of control over the mouse is incredibly frustrating. Both Windows and Linux (Gnome and presumably KDE) offer very fine control over both tracking speed AND acceleration level separately. Why Apple would leave this out of OS X is a mystery.
    I've had fair results with MouseFix (http://www.knockknock.org.uk/mac/) but there's no way to make those settings stick when you open up System Preferences and hit the Mouse panel. That program is definitely able to modify the right parameter but it is using a deprecated API to do so. Argh!
