Touchscreen unresponsive along lower portion of screen.

Hi All,
I have had my original iPhone since Sept 07, and it has worked perfectly. Today however is a different story. Today I wake up and look at my iPhone, because I want to check my e-mail. So I go and click the e-mail icon and nothing happens. I try the phone, safari, and iTunes buttons as well, and none of those are responding to my touch. It seems that it is only affecting that bottom 4 icons (phone, e-mail, internet, and iTunes). If I click on any other icon on any of the 4 pages of icons I have, they all work....
Has anyone ever experienced this problem? I already powered the unit down and did a reboot (where the apple logo comes up). None of that fixed this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Same thing happens with my phone. I've made an appointment twice with people at the Mac store. Neither person could tell me what was wrong, I have also contacted Apple Care twice and have had no luck. It makes no sense to me. The bottom portion works on some buttons but when you try and use the keyboard all the lower buttons don't work. In addition, if I am in Safari and I turn the phone sideways the entire screen works fine even the portion that used to be at the bottom. Kind of bummed the folks at Apple had never heard of this before and offered no solution other than re-store or re-purchase. It makes me hesitant to purchase another one.

Went to make a call and could not unlock iPhone. A restore using iTunes allowed me to determine that lower portion (60%) of screen will not respond. Attempted hard reset as well but to no avail. All other functions seem to work but inaccessible outside restore window.

Laura, I called the only number I could find on the site and it was a lady who said she could only help if I was calling about my IPOD, which I don't have. She said there was no number to call for ITune Music Support ... crazy... but if you have better success, please let us know !! I am surprised they don't at least have SOMEONE monitoring these discussion boards so they can respond to multiple problems of the same sort.

  • Unresponsive or low responsive screen

    Hello all,
I kept looking for an answer on this forums regarding a problem I'm currently facing but i couldn't find any,so here it is:
I bought my iphone 4 on 24th of September from Orange(the phone was produced on 35th week),everything is good except one thingy:when i lay my phone on the table and i try to operate it with only one finger it becomes unresponsive or low responsive but if i touch the phone's body(not press it) with my fingers from the other hand it works flawlessly,if it is charging I can operate it with one finger,if i put it on my leg i can also operate it with one finger the only problem comes when i put it on a table, book, etc and become unresponsive or very low responsive.
If an Apple representative could help me it would be great!
I can not reach an apple store as i'm not for US,i'm from Romania and Apple has only partners here.
    Thank you in advance

  • Touch Pad, mouse not working on lower 25% of screen

Have not seen this question, yet.   When on a web page, my double tap/left click does not work on about the lower 25% of the page.  The scroll arows work, but cannot click or type on the page if in the lower portion of the page.  After scrolling up to the middle of the page, then I can click a box or type info with no problem.  My drivers are up to date.   For example could not click on POST unless I scroll the box up an inch or so.
Using windows 7 and have all service packs & updated.

    Hi Rwischmann,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read that your HP Notebook and the touchscreen not working correctly. Here is a fix from Microsoft to resolve the Touchscreen.
he touchscreen shouldn't need recalibration, but if you or another user has recalibrate it, it may affect the performance of the touchscreen.
Here’s how to check or restore the factory default calibration using a keyboard or mouse:
Step 1: Press the Windows logo key Windows logo key + S to open Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search Search charm.)
Step 2:Type Control Panel, then use the arrow keys to highlight Control Panel, and press Enter.
    (Or, click Control Panel.)
Step 3:In Control Panel, use the arrow keys to highlight Hardware and Sound and press Enter.
    (Or, click Hardware and Sound.)
Step 4:Under Tablet PC Settings use the arrow keys to highlight Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input, and press Enter.
(Or, click Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input.)
Step 5:Use the Tab key to select the Reset button, and press Enter.
    (Or, click Reset.)
If the Reset button is grayed out, your Surface touch calibration is still at factory settings and you can move to Solution 3.
Step 6:Use the Tab key to select Yes, press Enter, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
(Or, click Yes, and then follow the instructions on the screen.)
Step 7:After Surface removes recalibration data, test touch input again.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom to say “Thanks” for helping!

Any ideas as to what is going wrong?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

  • Just loaded Mointain Lion. The Dock now is too low on the screen to see the running indicators. What can I do?

I just loaded Mountain Lion. Now the Dock is so low on the screen that it blocks the running lights. How can I fix this?

You can't. Don't like the NEW design? I know I don't, file a bug report.
To do this, register as an Apple Developer—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter  and file your bug report or enhancement request.
Alternatively, File a bug report with Apple.

  • Just got a 5C, is it normal that when you transition from Siri to calling someone that the symbols along the top or screen go all feint and blurry?

Just got a 5C, is it normal that when you transition from Siri to calling someone that the symbols along the top or screen go all feint and blurry?

I have one it works fine. yeah, the Mac instructions aren't great. Try this.
    (1) make sure you have your VCR audio and video outputs connected to the side with the two selection switches.
    (2) be sure you know the difference between the audio and video outputs no matter which colors you use.
    (3) make sure the indicator light is green on cable that connects to your computers firewire port.
    (4) when you operate the vcr through Imovie. you will only be able to play your vhs tape. so to fast forward or reverse. you must use your vcr remote or your hand.
    (5) to import your footage just click on import in imovie.
That should solve your problem. Also, in the future put these questions in the imovie forum.
P.s. if this is helps you give me a vote or two. LOL

  • I have to capture a portion of screen, but there are no functions of IMAQ to do this. How can I do?

I have to capture a portion of screen, but there are no functions of IMAQ to do this. How can I do?

What portion of the screen are you trying to capture? Is it video, or is it a standard snapshot?
If you are trying to capture video from the screen, I don't think there is an easy way to do it.
For a snapshot, there are a couple of options. If it is part of the LabVIEW screen, there are some property nodes or methods that output a bitmap image of the screen. If it is a separate application, your best option is to use the Windows screen capture. Basically, you need to emulate the keypress for capturing the screen to the clipboard, then paste the clipboard into an IMAQ image. For an example of how to do this, search the Developer Zone for the example that shows how to merge overlays with an image. This was necessary before Vision 6.1, which now has
    an option to merge overlays.

  • Lower portion of long documents unselectable after around a hundred pages..

Once large documents reach a certain length the lower portion cannot be selected - meaning I have to move words onto the following page to edit them. This problem gets worse the larger the document becomes.

As I am oldfashioned, I work quite often upon documents embedding more than 200 pages of text.
The fact that iWork documents are slow is not really linked to the size of the document.
The main problem is that iWork applications are awfully coded. They are always slow and inefficient.
Keeping Activity Monitor active while working with iWork apps is a good way to check that.
As I already wrote, the Appleworks authors were kind enough to calculate only the area to display when it was needed. So, working in page 1 or in page 150 is equally comfortable. Alas, coding this way required brains.
iWork's applications behavior let me think that they are recalculating the entire document after every change which is perfectly ridiculous. Not surprising if, as I already wrote, they were coded by feet.
Inserting a character in a word would logically require the recalculation of no more than a displayed page which may be done in a snap.
Same odd behavior with the Search tool in Numbers (the one activated by cmd + f, not the one oppening the dialog Find & Replace). It start to search when we type one character so we have to wait to be able to type a second one. It seems that waiting for the return char flagging the end of the string to search was too complicated.
It's for this reason that we may loose data if we quit the mac with iWork documents open.
From the system's point of view, the save task is ended when it's not.
This is why I close carefully my documents before quitting the system.

  • Aftter FRG83D Lower Portion/Parts of Touchscreen Will Not Work

I updated my phone On the 8th or 9th of December. After which portions of the lower half of my touchscreen will react to a different spot (Example: With screen vertical and using Droid keyboard touching "r" will show "t" being pressed, etc.) A small portion of the upper half does not respond, either.
Motorola Droid, bought "Certified Pre-Owned". Bought around July of this year. I have never had any problems ever before this update, even after dropping it a few times. I have not left it in extreme conditions (such as my car since it's getting really freaking cold), have not spilled anything upon it, I use the Verizon charger.
I haven't found anything about this anywhere. A friend updated his phone the night the update came out and said he had had this issue but I don't think it's as major for him. I can get around some of the annoyances by just sliding open the phone which reverts the screen to show horizontally which will allow access to what I needed to touch but in a different spot on the phone as well as the normal typing.
The other thing I was going to look up was how to revert back to an older update, possibly. I've also been meaning to root my phone but need to find my Windows laptop for that (Use a Mac mainly)
So yeah, any help would be fantastic. The issue comes and goes in certain spots and like I said, there are some ways I can get around it but some apps I end up not being able to use at all because I cannot access one specific spot on the touchscreen no matter what I try.

We are aware of the issues that come with the software update and are working to resolve those issues. Until the issues are resolved, I recommend completing a factory reset for your device. It can be done through either of the following two ways:
    Factory Reset option 1
From the main screen, touch menu tab
    Touch Settings
    Touch Privacy
    Touch Factory Data reset
    Touch Reset Phone
Warning: This will erase all data from your phone, including:
    Your Google account
System and application data and settings
    Downloaded Applications
It will not erase: Current System software and bundled applications; SD Card files, such as music or Photos
Factory Reset option 2  - Warning this will reset device back to original factory settings.
    Turn off the phone
Press Power key + "x" (on the hardware keyboard) to power on the phone and bring up the recovery screen
Press and hold Volume Up + Camera Key until recovery menu appears, release keys when it appears
Using the Volume keys, select "Wipe data factory Reset",
Press the center of 5-way navigation pad
Using the Volume keys, select Yes -- delete all user data
Press the center of 5-way navigation pad
Using the Volume keys select Reboot system now
Press the center of 5-way navigation pad
