Touchscreen Works, Monitor Doesn't
I have a Sattilite L15W-B1302. Running Windows 8.1.
At first, I thought my issue was the computer was not leaving sleep mode. In fact, many people with the same laptop seem to think this is happening. The computer turns on, but the screen does literally nothing.
However, on a hunch I hooked in my HDMI cord, and lo and behold, the computer is actually on! Not only that, but when I touch the (completely black) touchscreen monitor, it actually receives the input!
So, the touchscreen works, but the screen is completely black. I have tried installing updated drivers, nothing seems to work. Before, I would disable and re-enable the Monitor driver, and that worked once. Now it doesn't. The only thing that seems to work is to let the battery deplete completely and then turn it on, but that takes several hours. I have used the "reset" button and that does nothing.
WHY WOULD THE TOUCHSCREEN WORK BUT THE MONITOR BE BLANK!
Sorry, I had to get some frustration out with all caps Any help would be appreciated.
Satellite Radius L15W-B1302
the support site here is missing the computer specs. Maybe Peter can get that fixed.
I've noticed that when new models are introduced, Toshiba puts the spec on the web first and then after a few days (or weeks) adds them to this site. So you need to look in a different place sometimes.

Sleep of monitor doesn't work correctly after wake up
Hi,
in order to save energy I scheduled sleep mode and wake up in the system preferences of MacOS 10.4.8.
Everything works perfectly - at 01 am my Cube goes to sleep and wakes up at 3 pm. I also have a setting, that after 3 minutes of inactivity the monitor goes blank and that normally works well.
But after the wake up the monitor doesn't go into sleep - instead it stays on until someone moves the mouse or hits a key.
This is annoying, because sometimes nobody is there when the machine wakes up and the monitor is unnecessarily on.
Does someone know this behaviour? Is it a bug or did I miss something?
Hope someone has a solution,
Maik.
G4 Cube 450 MHz Mac OS X (10.4.8)Hi Maik, welcome into the discussion board!
Do you have activated the option "Screensaver ON" or "Screensaver NEVER ON" for Hot corners in your SystemPrefs ?
May be you have the upper left Corner active for "not sleeping/not screensaving" ?
I hope this helps

Any ideas how to get this working? I donʻt have money to go buy a new monitor...
Unfortunately HDCP is a technical requirement for the playback of some movie formats, for example Blu-ray. If your monitor does offer this, make sure your cabling and connection type also supports it. If your monitor doesn't offer this, I'm afraid you may have to consider buying a new or additional monitor. Any other suggestions I could make are not permitted on this forum, I'm afraid.
I have this problem too. I have a 2005/2006 Apple Cinema Display that's still in perfect working order, but doesn't have support HDCP. I had to find an alternative way of playing back my blu-rays. -
Tiger Installation Problems, Monitor Doesn't Have Picture
*Originally Posted in Tiger Support Discussions but no response.*
Hi every1,
I'm having problems as well trying to install Tiger on my power mac G3. I did the software exchange thing where I got CD's in place of the DVD. During installation,I restart the computer w/ the CD in drive, the computer starts but my monitor doesn't come on.
I've been looking through the discussions and no 1 is having the same problem i'm having. I downloaded the firmware but when I go 2 install it, A message says the firmware is the latest and doesn't need 2 be upgraded. Could it be a problem w/my Viewsonic LCD VE701b Monitor. Do I need 2 upgrade the video card or is there some other problem?

Hey every1,
I see U are stumped as well but anyway, I've been doing research and here's what I did.
1. I reset the PRAM, Nothing.
2. I reset the PMU, Still Nothing.
3. Emailed Tech Support at ViewSonic, (Awaiting a response).
Anybody have any other suggestions? Could it be corrupt CD?
Thanks,
AndreaTake a look at this thread for useful stuff about the Oxford chipset:
http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-55470.html
Your computer cannot give you USB2, and USB1 is very very slow, useless for tasks like backing up that involve transfers of large chunks of data. With what is built in on a B&W, your only choice is FW.
The Oxford chipset is not the only one that works, but we know it does and those enclosures give you both stability and the ability to boot from the external drive.
p.s. I responded to this earlier this morning. Are posts getting lost? -
Thunderbolt did work, now doesn't
I have an iMac 27" bought in 2012 with two Thunderbolt monitors. They both worked fine. When I moved the setup to another location, one monitor works fine but the other doesn't come on at all, and the connector gets rather warm. The monitor doesn't come on or get warm at all. (I assume power on is delivered via the port as there is no on/off switch on Thunderbolts) Is this a hardware warranty issue? How do I resolve it? I have tried swapping ports etc to no avail.
Same issue here. I have a 15" MBP I just got at work the begining of last week. I left it at work hooked up to the 2 new 27" Tb Displays i also received. Came back on tuesday of this week and the MBP wouldn't wake up. Disconnected the monitors and finally got my MBP to wake up after opening and closing the lid a few times. Now when I hook up the Tb Displays only one comes on, even when in clamshell mode. I even switched the wiring for the Tb connections and still no worky. Only the first display in the Tb chain works. My periferals are detected, but no image on Tb Display. I even tried clearing the PRAM, but that didn't seem to fix anything either.
W.T.F. Apple? The items were all brand new out of the box and worked for a week. This is so annoying!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. -
Batch monitor doesn't launch and doesn't exist at all :(
Hi,
I desperately need your help.
My problems started a couple of months ago when a less than 2-hour project in Final Cut was converted by compressor into a 6-gig file.
Following basic troubleshooting steps described in FAQ, I deleted user preferences and the program went back to normal.
Yesterday my 1 hour and 30 minutes project was converted into 5 gig file. My troubles started all over again. This time I also tried to delete user preferences but now it DIN"T WORK.
I decided to remove and reinstall compressor and Qmaster following by the steps described at
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1888?viewlocale=en_US
All went well, BUT now when I export my project using compressor, batch monitor doesn't launch! And when I look into Applications->Utilities I don't SEE THE BATCH MONITOR program at all!
Maybe I have not installed the entire thing necessary for normal performance of the compressor application? (when I reinstalled compressor, I checked Compressor and Qmaster boxes only, and unchecked final cut pro, DVD studio pro and the rest of the applications I did not need to reinstall)
Please advise.
Regards,
Tatiana
P.S. I'm using FCP 5.0 not the newest FCP studio 2.0Thank you for your reply!
Still trying to figure out what's going on.
I checked the option it IS on. Thank you for your suggestion, though.
Regarding Batch Monitor as a separate program, yes I know that I should look for it in the UTILITIES folder. But it is NOT THERE! How can it be possible if I reinstalled Compressor AND Apple Qmaster?
Any thoughts?
Maybe I did or did not delete some file(s) before the reinstallation? What should have I done before plugging in the installation dvd with the Final Cut Pro 5.0? I followed all steps described in the basic troubleshooting section on the Apple web site. Ironically, I got into even more trouble
I appreciate your help.

Touchscreen works differently upon restart
I have a Toshiba all in one computer. When I restart my computer sometimes the touchscreen works on the left side, sometimes the right side, sometimes it doesn't work on either, and sometimes it works on both. I recently upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8 and I have had this problem on both systems with this computer. I will give information below please let me know if you require more info to answer my question.
Toshiba LX835-P3215
PART NO. PQQ14U-004003
SERIAL NO. XXXXXXXXX
Computer has been completely upgraded to windows 8 and is like new. I also have experienced this problem with windows 7 for the past 2 years. Please let me know if you have any solutions to this issue. Thank you.

I tend to agree with Peter that it is a hardware issue.
To confirm, you could restore the computer to it's out-of-box state and if it is still behaving the same then it is almost certainly a hardware issue. If not, then it is likely some software conflict or the like.

[Z87 MPOWER] Monitor doesn't detect Video. LED-POST switches between numbers
Hey folks!
I build my first PC yesterday and sadly I came over a seemingly unsolvable problem. I made a test-run with the Motherboard on the box, GPU, PGU, RAM, CPU+Cooler. I started it and everything worked fine, but the Monitor doesn't detect graphic input! It detects the cable I uses (HDMI and AVG) AND that I plugged it into a PC, but it just switches into sleeping mode as soon as I start the PC! (The Monitor works fine on my laptop).
Now I removed the GPU and used the onboard graphics with HDMI connection - the same problem! Now, I only have one 8GB-RAM stick, and I switched it between all 4 slots just to be sure - nothing. I double-checked the two PGU cables I have connected (8pin and 24pin ATX) - everything seems fine!
I just can't find the problem and its driving me insane! The only thing that says that something might be wrong is this little LED thing on the mb, it switches between 10 / 19 / 15(I think, its to fast to see!) / 55 endless! That's definitely not normal is it?
Is someone able to help me? I don't want anything more right now than getting this working.
SPECS:
CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI Z87 MPOWER ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
RAM: Kingston 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card
PGU: SeaSonic 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Also if nothing works, can someone tell me what part might be the fault, so I can switch it in?
THANK YOU!You may be able to repair this.
Remove the cpu and inspect the socket with a bright light and magnifier.
Fine the culprit pin and straighten it if possible. If not just RMA the board. -

Got the "apple firewire ntsc" choice to show up even if grayed out and "missing" under "audio/visual" menus by recreating choices in Easy Setup under "final cut pro" MENU thank GOODNESS because I was reading horror stories on here about this under another thread with someone trashing preferences, reinstalling and the works and still not getting it to show up...on my search now for an analog/digital converter up at b&h...find it odd that the s video connector wouldn't show the crt monitor when I put both displays through the 3870...I switched it back to see if it worked again when only the one dell monitor display was there and there it is again mirroring the screen display on my desktop...just can't be seen as an "external monitor" in fcp...couldn't find anything specific in the shane ross threads to this. I'm sad the program doesn't just see the s video connection though the 3870 though my computer does fine and will query up at b&h in regard to what might be affordable as far as a digital/analog converter. It's also weird in itself that when I put the two dell monitors on the one card my computer no longer could see the s video crt connection...makes no sense. Will report in later as to what I discover up at b&h as I'm sure there's a world of people out there using this sony crt monitor still even into the upgrades with computers and software so I imagine therein lies the solution. Thanks again and I'll report in as to what hardware might be suggested for me.

I spent all night trying to fix this. It seems to me that someone has been trying to hack into my system with all of the random codes/lines in my terminal and i have all of his foreign IP addresses. And now i get this strange message that popped up in my terminal. Idk what it entirely means? I would very appreciate if someone could just walk me through this. Thank you very much.
First time poster. I have Macbook Pro. OSX. Just downloaded the new mavericks. I'm i have my firewall on. I stay secure. I run Netbarrier, Virusbarrier, IdentityScrubber.
I know something is a little odd or just doesn't make since about my activity monitor. Then my WiFi was hacked last night and this person was writing tons lines of commands/codes that i found in my terminal and my activity monitor doesn't look normal, and I've only been a mac owner for about a year now and i'm learning more and more but while trying to figure out what was going on this message popped up which concerned me the most. Any help would be most appreciated, thanks guys. I have my terminal full of his foreign ip addresses i noticed, and a lot of other commands and lines he wrote out that i definitely did not type myself. Can anyone give me a hand on this? Thanks

My iphone 6 connects to the car via bluetooth, the music works good, but the phone calls does not work. It looks like it is working but doesn't. I have tried in my Hyundai Sonata and a Dodge Dart rent car and get the same results. I updated the last 8.0.2. It worked the first day i had the phone, and then i updated to Ios 8.0.2 and it quit working.
Now when i get in the car, it acts like it is connected and makes the same call it was on after syncing to bluetooth, but it really isn't on a call. This is happening on both cars.
Does anyone know if this is the phone and i need to take it to Apple or if there is an issue that Apple is working on getting a fix for?
My son in law has the exact same phone as me, we both got the on 10/6, he had a Dodge Dart and his is working via bluetooth.
Someone HELP please, as i consider this a safety issue by not having my calls go to bluetooth. We had the same problem, but figure out the solution.
