Touchsmart 300 - Install Windows 7 32 bit

Given I have a Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 32 bit DVD and the required license, how can I install Windows 7 Professional 32 bit on a Touchsmart 300 PC?
If I launch the installation booting from  the DVD I get a blue screen (BSOD), I presume for a driver issue.
I am considering using Microsoft AIK to customize the setup, but I need to know which drivers I should include and how to get them.
Is there any information available?
Regards
Mario

  • Touchsmart 610 - installing windows 8 on a partition, error, not enough space on system partition?

I created a 150 gb partition to install Windows 8 so I could dual boot Win 7 and Win 8.  When I try to install I get a message that there is not enough free space on my 'system' partition.  The only thing I can think of is that it is referring to the system (reserved) 100mb  partition.  It only has 10 mb of free space.  Obviously the partition I want to install on has plenty of space.  Has anyone had this problem and gotten around it?
UPDATE:  Found the problem with my 100mb reserved partition.  I assigned a drive letter to it through disk management and saw a file 'test.vhd' of 55 mb.  I recognized this as a virtual drive I had created and deleted a few months ago!  Deleted this file and then removed the drive letter assignment, and Windows 8 installed on my partition in about 15 minutes.

  • TouchSmart 300 Dvd Player won't read or burn DVD

My dvd player is not working correctly.  I am able read and burn CDs, but the player won't read or write DVDs.  I have a touchsmart 300 running Windows 7.  I was trying to burn some home movies in WMA format.  Movie Maker recognizes a blank DVD, and attempts to burn the DVD, but once it finishes, the disk is blank.  I then tried to just burn a MPG file using another software program and it failed at the validation stage.  Finally, I put a dvd movie in the drive and it wont recognize the disk.  These functions used to work fine.  The computer is only 15 months old, of course I only had a one year warranty.
Is there anyway this could be related to software or is it a hardware problem?

    Hi,
First, try the automated fixit from Microsoft on the link below.
    Windows 7
If it still isn't working, try the following.
Next, from the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and click on Device Manager.  Next click to open DVD/CD-ROM Drives.  Right click the drive and select uninstall.  Do not delete drivers if asked.  When the device has uninstalled click on the 'Scan for Hardware Changes' icon ( usually just below Help on the toolbar ).  Let windows reinstall the drive and see if it now works.

    Hi Guys,
I have the solution to your problems and I will go ahead an explain it in detail so that no questions will be raised.
I have struggled to get WINDOWS 7 (32BIT) to run on the Touchsmart 300 PC now for three days (and nights) but I know how you can do it.
The problem lies within the VGA Adapter (Graphics Card) this little buddy has incompatible drivers with the inbuilt functions of the Touchsmart PC in its generic (Windows Preloaded) form. Therefore what you can do is the this.
Step 1: Insert Windows 7 (32Bit) disk and start the setup process and follow it until it hits the problem. (Millisecond of Bluescreen)
Step 2: Once the PC starts booting repeatedly press F8 (I mean it just keep on pressing that button until you can select "Safe Mode")
Step3: Once Windows Setup screen is back it will tell you an error! Which is good. INSTEAD of pressing "OK" (to restart) press SHIFT + F10 (opens the command prompt)
Step4: You should automatically be in \Windows\System32 now enter the following command: CompMgmtLauncher (This is the Device Manager).
(If the default directory is not System32 the navigate to it by entering "cd windows" and "cd system 32" (cd = change directory)
Step5: In the Device Manager (do not worry it will take some time to load) select navigate to "Display Adapters" - "ATI Radeon ..." RIGHT-CLICK on it and choose disable. (To be sure Windows will not have any other troubles you should do the same for all highlighted devices. the once with the yellow triangle)
Step6: Once this is done restart your system and let the install run into the normal mode and finish the install.
Step7: Once Windows starts for the first time. Use the provided ATI Radeon Driver from HP (NOT the original one) from the support download website to install the correct driver.
    Step8: Resart and enjoy!
Hope this helps and let me say to AMD/ATI yopu guys really suck at your one product drivers!
    Cheers and Out.

  • How to wipe Touchsmart 300 for resale (don't have Windows discs)

I have a TouchSmart 300 and want to sell it and so need to restore it to factory settings and do a complete wipe of any memory of account passwords, personal data etc. The problem is I can't remember how I set up the pc originally, i.e. whether I just switched it on and it was good to go or if I had install discs and can't find any.
How would I go about achieving this so I can sell it in confidence that all my data has been wiped?

  • Installing Windows 7 64 bit using boot camp w/ an OEM disk?

Has anyone made a successful attempt at installing Windows 7 from an OEM disk under Boot Camp?? I'm also noticing that it seems to be the trend of now going to Microsoft's website with an authorization code to download the OS!! I can only assume that this is some sort of ISO image that can be burned to a DVD after downloading, does anyone know?? I'll cut to the chase here!!! I'm looking to avoid spending $300.00 for the full retail disk of Windows 7..lets be series!!
    Thanks

Comp Usa is selling an OEM copy of Windows 7 64 bit for $149.99. When I called to verify the price they told me that this was a download only, not a disk. They said they give you some sort of authorization number & you then go to a Microsoft download site & download the software. When I asked them what kind of format the download came in i.e. an ISO image which could be then burned onto a DVD they couldn't tell me, but said they would try and find out for me. That sounds like trouble to me!!! If I go & purchase this version, & for some reason Boot Camp won't install from it will have wasted $149.99!!! On the other hand, I didn't exactly want to pay full retail of $299.00 for the retail disk!!!! I'm trying to get out the cheap way of course!!! Has anyone out there successfully installed doing it the OEM way???
    Thanks

  • Install Windows 8 on Touchsmart 600xt

Can't install Windows 8 Preview on a HP Touchsmart 600xt.
I tried a half dozen times and get the noted error code: 0x080070570 :Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all required files are available."
I downloaded the latest version of Windows 8 Preview iso file twice and burned each to a disc twice to make sure my boot disc was not corrupt.
First I tried upgrading Windows 7 x64, then tried a clean install after formatting my HD.
Help or suggestions would be appreciated.

ive been running win8 on a 610-1010 for the past month and a half now
I installed the release candidate 64bit version using the windows 7 usb download tool and an 8gb usb drive.
installation was a breeze, took maybe half an hour
It runs fine, although there are a few minor gripes and these are down to the "apps"
the intenet explorer app is rubbish in my opinion and the video and music apps are a bit slow at times.
the standard version of ie is fine and i use windows media center for music.
vlc player is still the best for video and there is a win8 version.
The only major gripe is games.
any that rely on directx or open gl will not work.
this is down to graphics card drivers not being available as of yet.
ive had it on the 1.5tb hard drive that came with the machine and ive also since installed a 128Gb solid state drive which is amazingly fast.
im amazed at how many times ive seen folk saying "dont do it"
It works and with a touchscreen pc, the metro system comes into its own

    Hello bromeo:
Sorry champ our computers were made before windows 8 was even thought of. HP did not go back that far to develop drivers for Windows 8 for our computers HP Touchsmart 600-1050 series or 300 series. Our computers only have eight point touch. Windows 8 requires 10 point. Yes you can install windows 8 but you will loose touch features as well as many other features as well. Please look up Windows 8 on touchsmart here in this forum. You will see how others have installed it. What software they were no longer able to use and the features that they learned to live with out. After you have read it then you can decide if you want to take a chance and do the up grade or not. If you do the up grade remeber that your computer will not function correctly afterwards. Why is that? Because HP has nor will they ever develop the drivers for our computers and third party has not develop them as well. You will see what others had troubles finding. frrw.

  • How to do a clean installation of windows 7 on hp touchsmart 300-1000

My hard drive recently crashed in my touchsmart 300. I have purchased a new one but when I insert the installation cd it shortly freezes on starting windows screen right after it installs the windows files for the first time. I have recently read threads about this and saw the safe mode option and disabling the video driver but I can not get to that screen. After I hit any key to boot from dvd i tap F8 and it starts loading windows files, then when it is done it gives me the option to run in safe mode then installs files and freezes again. Can somebody please help me!!!! I am going on over a week straight trying to fix this. Thanks

The title says Windows 7 but the description of what is used to start does not sound right.  According to this PDF for the model posted: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03472361.pdf
Go to page 56  under "Starting system recovery from user-created recovery discs
This section contains the procedure for performing a system recovery from the recovery discs you created"
If Windows 7 is installed, the F8 should get the user into Safe Mode.  Remove the Recovery DVD from the DVD drive before this action is done. What happens now?

  • Installing Windows 7 (64 bit) in MacPro 2.6Ghz Intel Xeon - Impossible?

There is a list of machines on which Bootcamp apparently does not suport Windows 7 - and lucky me, having purchased my copy of 'ultimate' it looks as if mine is one of them.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3986
According to the list "*Mac Pro (Mid 2006, Intel Xeon Dual-core 2.66GHz or 3GHz)* " is not supported - now mine is mid 2007, not 2006, but it isn't clear whatis meant there - but I'm thinking it probably means from mid 2006 until the end of production of the 2.66Ghz Intel Xeon Dual-core model. Correct?
But, has anyone managed to get Windows 7 onto one of these, with or without BootCamp - if so, how?
When I use bootcamp, put the 64 bit disc in the drive, it then gets as far as trying to boot from the DVD, and gives a message:
    1
    2
    *Select CD-ROM Boot Type:_*
at this point the keyboard (as supplied with the Mac Pro, apparently important) does not work, nor does a PC format keyboard, so there is apparently no way to select an option, and I wouldn't know which of 1 or 2 was the correct boot type anyhow. The disk sticks and can only be ejected by pulling it out of the casework and pressing the usually concealed button on the drive.
Any pearls of wisdom gratefully received - or do I need a newer Mac Pro for W7?
    Thanks. Stephen.

I'm experiencing exactly the same. Found some articles about re-burning the DVD but it hasn't helped.
My suspicion is that the BIOS (or mac equivalent) does not support booting 64bit OS. I remember trying to force OSX Leopard to boot 64bit and it wouldn't work. I can't recall the exact issue, but I suspect its similar.
I am installing Windows 7 Ultimate x64 in a Fusion VM - but not bootcamp - just a regular old VM. So far that is fine. Its not done yet but it is loading.
It may be as simple as a BIOS update - but as far as I know - there are none for my Xeon 3GhZ based system.
    oh well.

  • Unable to install Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit on my HP Pavilion g6 1318ax

    Hello,
I have Windows 8.1 pro OS on my machine but that's 32 bit. I am trying to install 64 bit of the same but it says "This app can't run on your PC". The machine I am using is Pavilion g6 1318ax.
    Please advise.
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Regards,
    Dev

    Hi:
You have to boot from the 64 bit installation media and do a clean (custom) install.
It will not run from a 32 bit Windows desktop.
No 64 bit operating system will.
In other words, you can't upgrade from a 32 bit to a 64 bit operating system, and retain your programs and files.
So back up any files you don't want to lose.

  • Cannot install Windows 7 32-bit using Boot Camp

I have one of the new iMacs (late 2012) and I can't install Windows 7 32-bit using Boot Camp. Whenever I try to being the installation using the Boot Camp Assistant, I always get the following message: "Need 64-bit Windows installation USB drive or DVD. Boot Camp only supports 64-bit Windows installation on this platform. Please use an USB drive or DVD which contains 64-bit Windows". I have successfully installed 32-bit Windows on my Macbook Pro that is running the same version of Mac OS X and Boot Camp, but I don't know why on this new iMac it doesn't allow me to. Apple's documentation states that I should be able to install either 32-bit and 64-bit without any problem, but this is not the case here. I can't find anything about this problem/error on the Internet either. HELP!!!

    AidenT wrote:
Yes, circumstances do change but if Apple is, as they claim to be, serious about seamlessly migrating what is still a large and dominant market share of users from Windows, supporting 32 bit versions is not a nice to have, but a must have.
I don't see why users have to make excuses when there is a clear shortfall of what is promised.
In other discussions, there is talk of an opportunity for Apple to make a significant impact, as Windows 8 has deviated so much from the comfort zone of traditional Windows users. But to make that change, Macs have to support what is still a primarily 32 bit environment in the installed base.
As for the use of VMs, I had a tough time migrating out of Parallels 6 after an upgrade to Mountain Lion broke compatibility so IMHO it is not a long term solution unless you are happy to hand out $50 every 2-3 years just to support the same functionality.
    Use Virtual Box, it's free.
32 bit may have a reasonable user base but it's going away fast, if you must use 32 bit Windows and won't use a VM your choice is limited.
Buy a PC, or buy an older Mac.
The rest of your post is speculative and I won't go there.

Wondering what would be involved in installing windows 7 32 bit as a virtual machine on a windows 7 64 bit laptop, trying to continue to use software that only has 32 bit drivers to talk to specialized hardware before scrapping the hardware.  Drivers
are not updateable due to the company no longer exist.  Being forced to do this since I am using windows XP to currently do this and will have to stop using XP by 01Apr2014.
    thanks for any help

If it's special hardware, your chances are small for it to work in a
virtual machine.  Some USB devices might work, but Virtual PC can't see
the real hardware on the host.

  • How to install windows 8.1 64 bit with a DVD

has anyone found a workaround to install windows 8.1 64 bit with a retail DVD?

    Gotcha!!
I am done with mounting a secondary HDD (thanks to ifixit) and installing Windows 8 Pro 64 bit on it without a worry. Charm, charm!!
Boot Camp 5 guide prescribes all needed steps and when read and used correctly, installation must be an easy task. And all the existing apple hardwares work so good in the Windows environment too.
I am going to help out a friend of mine in doing a similar thing on his mac too. If you got specific questions, please do shoot up here and i should be able to get a reply to it (if at all).
