TouchSmart 320 wireless USB receiver

Setup instructions for the TouchSmart 320-1030 state a wireless USB receiver is needed for the wireless keyboard/mouse but none was found in packaging. Is a USB receiver needed or is the receiver built in?

Hello Dsnow:
Yes it is needed and if look behind your Touch Smart at the bottom you will see its usb port where it goes. It may be located there all ready just remove tape and push it in. It is very small and might be still in the packageing. Contact HP Direct Support if you do not have it. They will send you a new one takes up to three days because they will Federal Expres it. Your computer came with one warranty and that is covered.

  • HP Touchsmart 310-1125Y - Missing USB Receiver, how can you get a replacement?

I purchased an HP Touchsmart 310-1125Y all-in-one computer and the USB Receiver is missing. Does HP sell replacement receivers? I tried searching but just found the part number of the mouse. The mouse's part number is 603289-001 and the keyboard is KG-0981.
The mouse/keyboard are fine, just no USB receiver. Anyone have any luck with "generic" receivers if such a thing exist?

Here are the specs for your HP TouchSmart 310-1125y Desktop Computer. According to the specs, this model was introduced for sale around two years ago. The specs also indicate that the USB mouse/keyboard wireless set use a 2.4GHz frequency. Have you checked on the bottom of the mouse??? Many mice have a little "pocket" to store the USB dongle. If the USB dongle is truly missing, HP's Part Surfer lists the mouse as "Part# 588485-001 - HP Mouse - Wireless, Optical (includes USB Receiver & Mouse)".

  • Wireless keyboard (non apple) + usb receiver = wake from sleep?

Does a non apple wireless keyboard with its own usb receiver wake the computer from sleep? if so any other issues / concerns when using one?

With regard to the USB port, I have always had my keyboard plugged directly into an original USB1.1 port. I save the USB2.0 ports (PCI Card) for scanner, hard disks, etc that would actually benefit from the speed increase. I do know that the buttons on my scanner (for instant scan/copy etc) work perfectly if the computer is awake, but will not wake the computer from sleep.
With regard to programming the other keys, my microsoft keyboard has a preference pane that allows you to define different functions for all the keys. This came on a cd with the keyboard, but only windows version. Had to download the mac version from microsoft.com website.
I've never tried a bluetooth keyboard. Perhaps with next computer purchase.
When I was shopping for a keyboard - the one thing that pushed me to the microsoft keyboard was greater flexibility in defining functions for the keys. For instance, The play, fast forward, rewind, volume keys always access itunes regardless of what program is running, except for imovie, where they instead control playback. If I hold down the shift key and push them in imovie, then they again control itunes. Similarly, I set the "my favorites" keys to link to certain websites in safari, certain albums in iphoto, certain playlists in itunes, and certain folders in the finder or otherwise. This control was more robust at the time (5 years ago) and still functions well for me. Not sure if other manufacturers have this now or not.

  • LOST USB WIRELESS NANO RECEIVER INSIDE OF COMPUTER

When inserting usb wireless nano receiver on the back of the screen on a touch smart computer.  I let loose of it and it fell inside of the computer.  I can't see it or know how to retreive it and am afraid to leave it there.  Can someone tell me how to find it and how to get the back off to retreive it.  Thank you.

To start this sounds like a computer issue and you are on a printer forum, but I think I can still help. You should be able to remove one of the sides of your desktop tower with a screwdriver and access the internal compartment. Here you should be able to retreive that piece.
Let me know how this goes and I wil get right back in touch with you!

  • Nano Wireless Laser Mouse w/ USB Receiver- not recognizing

I bought a WIreless Laser Mouse with a USB receiver, and the USB receiver is recognized, yet the mouse still doesn't work. I've replaced the batteries with new ones in case that was the issue; it wasn't. It was working about a week ago, after which I moved to the UK, but as it's battery-powered that shouldn't really be an issue. Is there some stupid thing I'm missing, an on/off switch or something? Anything else I should try?
    Thanks in advance.

Could be a number of reasons that your USB mouse is no longer working. Check the batteries again. This time use a voltmeter. Just because the batteries are new in the package doesn't mean that they're not old or damaaged. Check the mouse for a switch. With the move, the switch, typically on the bottom of the mouse, could have been switched. Check the mouse dongle in the USB port. Maybe it's not seated fully in the port. Or try a different USB port.

  • One of USB ports not working with wireless mouse USB receiver (MBP mid-2009

    Hi,
I've got a weird problem with one of the USB ports (the one next to SD card slot). I use a Logitech VX Nano (wireless) mouse.
When I plug the usb receiver to the USB port, no device can be detected. But when trying the other USB port, all works fine.
I also tried using a usb extension cable with the USB port (problematic one). All works fine again.
The same happens with windows xp pro.
    Any help appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Alex

    Is the monitor powered?

  • Can I attach a second monitor to a TouchSmart 320-1030?

Can I attach a second monitor to a TouchSmart 320-1030? It has only USB i/o ports. How do I do it? Will the software support it if I can find the right hardware? Can I use an older VHS monitor with some sort of a USB/VHS conversion gadget?

These units do not have any video out capability, you will need a USB to VGA/HDMI/DVI adapter from a 3rd party, there's no such thing as a "VHS monitor" did you mean VGA? if so then the statement above applies, as it does for all the other 9 million threads on this same subject :-)

  • Wireless USB Hub?

Does anyone know if there are any wireless USB hubs available that are supported by Mac OS X? Even working with VMware Fusion would be helpful. I have one of the IOGEAR units but my iMac crashes when I plug the adapter into a USB port.
    Thanks,

They seem to be few and far between saxman.
One is shown here, but no details of manufacture are given.
The major issue, I think, for any practical use over bluetooth is speed. BT is very, very, slow.
BT 2.1 with EDR, (the version on your MBP) supports theoretical transfer rates of up to 3 Mbit/s. 802.11n Wireless networking supports theoretical speeds of up to 100 times faster. USB2 supports theoretical rates up to 160 times faster than BT.
People already complain about the slow speed when transferring to USB drives attached to their 802.11n Airport extreme base stations. Can you imagine what it would be like accessing a drive over something 100 times slower! BT just won't cut it for the sorts of purposes you are speaking of.
Using 802.11n makes much more sense, and you can do this with an Airport extreme or Airport Express Base Station, to connect to devices like printers and HDs. You can even attach a hub to them, but they won't support other sorts of USB devices like scanners etc. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2421 for details

  • How to temporarily disable the touch screen in Windows 8? Touchsmart 320-1122la

Meanwhile, read this document to see if it offers any solutions:HP TouchSmart PCs - Troubleshooting Touch Screen Issues in Windows 8

Sorry that document didn't help. As for how to find your product and numbers, on my HP TouchSmart 320-1030, for example, I found both numbers on a sticker on the back of my PC, near the bottom, just under the inputs (USB, power, etc.). I also found that information in roughly the same area on my friend's HP ENVY TouchSmart 23-d034. A really easy way to find out is to press the CTRL, ALT, and S keys. The HP Support Information box will open, showing your model number, product number, serial number, and other important information. I used Snipping Tool to take a screen capture of this information on my screen, and then I printed it and emailed it to myself. It's good information to have on hand if you're getting support, making warranty inquiries, or for your insurance files, if your PC were, say, damaged in a fire, tornado, etc. Once you obtain that information, go to the Drivers and Download page. Click the Support and Drivers button, and enter your product number.  Check for new drivers for your product. You can also get support and warranty information at the above link.

  • Question re: Wireless USB Hub

I have a few laptop accessories [printer, scanner, etc] that my laptop does not have enough USB ports for.  I am currently using a 4-port USB hub, but now have wires/cables sprawling all over my desk.  Am looking to possibly buy the LaCie 4-port wireless USB hub.  Is this something that will fit my needs?

  • Time Capsule compatibility with Wireless USB Hub

Is it possible to use a wireless USB hub with the Time Capsule? I am thinking of using a Belkin wireless USB hub, which would have the USB receiver/antenna for the hub connected to the TC, and my printer connected to the hub.
Below is the link for the Belkin Wireless USB hub that I wanted to use:
    http://shop3.frys.com/product/5845573#detailed
My reason for doing this is because I want to keep my wireless printing capabilities, but I want to move the TC downstairs and "bridge" it with my AT&T U-Verse wireless router/modem. At the moment I am not able to have my TC and router/modem in the same room.
My thinking is that this will not work because the TC will not recognize that type of USB device (i.e. the USB receiver/antenna for the hub). But if this works this would solve a great deal of logistic problems.

I still have questions about how to connect the Brother printer through ethernet. When connected does the airport utility have some area where you can identify the printer as a network printer as opposed to USB?
The AirPort Utility would only come into play if the printer was attached to the TC's USB port. Printers, attached by Ethernet, would have to "network-ready." Controlling these types of printers would be through the printer driver that you would access through the operating system interface.
In my HP example, the HP printer driver does provide access to a number of features particular to this printer model. Most manufacturers include an installation CD that provide useful utilities ... albeit most are written for Windows. I would suggest checking out the Brother support site to see if they have Mac-specific drivers or utilities.

  • Any ideas on a cheap 100% airport compatible wireless usb device?

I need to upgrade my wireless to n, and wish to do so with a USB wireless dongle. I tried using one but it was incompatible with airport and resultingly was slow and inefficient, not to mention i couldnt actually connect system wide to my LAN, and cant use ssh and ftp with my other computers D:. I also cant port forward my server :'( because my stupid adapter doesnt have a recognisable static IP . But it gets worse, because when i go online searching for an adapter, every one of them costs around £50 (~$90?) Does anyone know of a suitable good g/n wireless usb adapter that works with airport and doesnt cost a bomb? It really lets the OS down if i cant use the internet.

Please check out this wireless USB adapter offered by Other World Computing.

I want to reboot the machine with the same DVD after completing the installation, to test for possibility of reimage in case of crash. Hello,
So, you installed Window 7 Pro with a DVD, you boot with it to install the O.S, and now it does not work?
Have you tried to load the BIOS default values or even updating the BIOS?
If it had work before, cant understand why it does not work now...

How to get an N wireless USB adapter to transfer data faster that 54 Mbps? I am running FIOS 10/2 and connected to a ActionTec  M1424WR router. Any help will be appreciated.

I have to ask the question, why are you in need of 802.11N speeds?  Are you transferring lots of files between other PC's on your network or are you simply connecting to the Internet.
Remember if your Internet speed is 10/2 which means 10 meg down and 2 meg up having 300 meg capability WLAN connection will not be noticeable.   Your bottleneck is your Internet connection of 10/2.
