Touchsmart Calendar

Help! My touchsmart calendar keeps deleting. This is the 4th or 5th time this has happened to me... I have my family's calendar all up to date with everything, then one day, there's nothing there! I have contacted HP a couple of times via online chat, and their solution to this point has been to uninstall, then reinstall HP Touchsmart Calendar. I have done that, several times, and this still keeps happening. In the 6 months I've had the computer, I've lost all calendar data 4 or 5 times. The software seems to work fine for a while, then all of a sudden there is nothing there. I haven't noticed anything else in the Touchsmart Software affected. This is most frustrating, and inconvenient. If anyone has a solution to this, I would love to hear it! I'm tired of all the time I spend inputting the data being wasted, and more importantly losing my entire family's calendar. (Along that note, I have read that you can print out the calendar, but I have never been given that option?) I have the HP Touchsmart IQ526 Desktop. Many thanks to anyone who can help me!

I am guessing HP Update software might be redelivering a calendar update incorrectly. You might want to shut down HP Update and get your updates from the HP Customer Care Web site.

    Hello...I have an HP Pavilion slimeline Model: s5-1205z. I have over 30,000 error messages related to the HP TouchSmart Calendar on my PC. I do not have nor use a TouchSmart anything, and do not understand why these errors are happening. They appear to be generated about every 3 minutes apart and several errors listed for the same date and time in between.
    How can I get rid of these errrors and prevent them from happening again? I have not been able to find any information on how to disable this feature or delete it from the Help files, so any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :-)

  • TouchSmart Calendar Reminder

    Ok, I put events on the HP TouchSmart Calendar with reminders but the time for the reminder event comes and goes without anything happening. What gives? What IS the reminder? a sound? an email? a pop up window with text? Nothing happened.

  • IQ505 TouchSmart Calendar Update Did Not Work

    I followed the instructions for the update, and I received an error message. 
    It reads as follows:

  • Touchsmart IQ810 Calendar not sync'ing with Vista Calendar

    Noticed that my Touchsmart calendar is not sync'ing with the Vista calendar events. Read the calendar threads here but they are all referring to the 500 series from what I can see.
    Far as I am aware my Touchsmart software is uptodate. Rather the HP Advisor and it is not downloading anything new.
    Would appreciate any suggestions.

    i wouldn't rely on the hp advisor alone, why not download the calender update yourself and install it on your pc.

  • HP TouchSmart application will not start

    We purchased an HP IQ 526 TouchSmart desktop with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit machine approximately two months ago. We use Clearwire to connect to the internet. About a month ago the HP TouchSmart applilcation stopped working. It will not start. Every time we try to start it we get the following error message:
    HP TouchSmart Calendar has stopped working
    A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    Sometimes it says it's the HP TouchSmart Notes has stopped working or one of the other TouchSmart applications. I went to hp.com and updated all of the software for the TouchSmart application and Windows Vista. And I reguarly use Windows Update to ensure my OS is current with Microsoft security updates. I also updated the firmware. After these actions and rebooting many times the application would still not start. At this point I contacted HP customer support. We uninstalled HP TouchSmart, then reinstalled. This didn't work. I continue to see information events in the Windows Application Log almost every minute regarding HPTouchSmartCalendarNotes. They are typically the following messages over and over:
    Reminder clock elapsed event is successfully fired.
    CheckReminder() is executed successfully.
    ShowReminder() is executed successfully.
    After Fetching the XML nodes, checking for each node is done successfully in ShowReminder()
    Events in Events.xml Before Showing Reminder<DataRoot></DataRoot>
    I still have a case open with HP support and they said uinstalling the OS and reinstalling is likely the next step but I have to believe someone else has run into this issue or HP has a QFE for this issue. I really do not want to uninstall the OS and reinstall it. This has become very frustrating as the HP TouchSmart application is the primary reason we purchased the computer so my wife can manage our photos and music collection via the touch screen.
    If anyone has seen this before or has a solution I would love to hear about it. We are considering taking the computer back if we can not resolve this issue.
    On a related note and this might be a separate issue I continuously get HPTCS stopped working messages. I've searched the internet for what HPTCS.exe is and what is does but there is little to no information available.
    Please let me know or if there is additional information I could provide that would be useful for troubleshooting.

    Our machine was sent back to HP and they reformatted our hard drive and sent it back. Wow. Fantastic service. NOT!!!! I could have done that. Without debugging their own software to figure out why this was happening they reformatted the hard drive. I can only expect this problem will happen again since there must be a software update, etc... that is causing this behavior. I honestly do not know how to voice my disgust in their customer service. I have been a long time fan of HP and we basically only buy HP at work but this was the poorest display of customer service I have ever encountered. If your TouchSmart application stops working and the TouchSmart software updates do not resolve the problem you might as well pretend like you bought a normal computer without touch capabilities. Like buying an iPhone without it behaving like an iPhone.

  • Calendar error

    There is an error in the TouchSmart Calendar in my 600-1055 TouchSmart Computer.  I sync the calendar to my iPhone, everything syncs well EXCEPT events that occur ever TWO weeks.  iPhone has this option, but TouchSmart Calendar does not.  What happens is that the correct iPhone every two week schedule is interpreted as an every week schedule.  This problem renders the TouchSmart Calendar useless and misleading (some every-two-week events are very important to me).  Why would the TouchSmart Calendar programmers build in options for every week, every month, every day, etc. but not include every two weeks (like most other calendar programs)???
    I hope HP comes up with a software revision that addresses this issue!

    Google calendar can sync with the iphone.  The TouchSmart calendar can sync with the Google Calendar.  Take a look at the sync options on Google Calendar and it gets you on track to sync with the iphone.  After that you would need to follow the procedure to sync the TouchSmart calendar with Google Calendar.

  • IQ505 Calendar Not Working

    Hi,
    I have an IQ505 TouchSmart PC and I have had an error on my screen for a LONG time now.  It says "HP TouchSmart Calendar & Notes has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
    I am running on Windows Vista and this error message stays on my screen ALL the time.  Please help me fix this!  I am sick of looking at it!

    I understand that you are getting a continiuos error concerning HP Touchsmart Calendar & Notes on your HP TouchSmart IQ505 Desktop PC and you would like it resolved. I would advise you to download and install the HP TouchSmart Calendar Application Update, which should update your software and hopefully resolve your error.

  • Your TouchSmart Experience​??

    I'm considering purchasing a TouchSmart PC and would appreciate your experience on some uses:
    We presently use Vista Media Center a lot and the family is comfortable using a lot of its features.  I understand that TouchSmart provides access to many of the same features.
    1.  Have you found that using TouchSmart is better than using the native MCE screens?
    2.  Are there features in MCE that are not available from TouchSmart?
    2a.    If so, is it easy to access MCE from touchsmart to access the unique MCE features?
    2b.    Do you find it annoying to switch between TouchSmart and MCE (or other PC functions outside TouchSmart?)
    3.  Does the TouchSmart calendar provide a way to import calendar information from Outlook?
    4.  Is the i504 adequate for processing TouchSmart / multitouch / etc., or is the step up to the better processor and graphics of 506 and 800 series necessary?
    5.  I read in the forum that TouchSmart can't access music (and I therefore assume photos / videos) from network storage.  Can it access from a Windows Home Server?  from an attached USB drive?

    yeah, you can basically run Media Center components directly from the command line, for example that link that rasterblaster mentions was something that i have now setup at home...
    So for example to load up the TV directly from the command line you run;
    C:\Windows\EHOME\EHSHELL.EXE /HOMEPAGE:VideoFullscreen.XML /PUSHSTARTPAGE:TRUE
    So you can add this to a Tile and it will be made available as a Tile in Touchsmart.
    I found it runs ok when Touchsmart and MC TV are running together, however if you load up another app like a game or maybe Word or something then TV may begin to suffer with jolting picture refreshes - very annoying.
    As for music stored on a share, i'm eargerly waiting for this to be made available - i hope they can incorporate WMP library into Touchsmart Music somehow, (as described in the documentation) this way you can optionally use either WMP or Touchsmart without having to maintain both, if they can do this then this would be a major thumbs up for me.... 
    Another thumbs up would be to get the Mic option working or made available in the Touchsmart Notes app, this would be real cool!

    You need to upgrade to Windows 7 first
    TouchSmart 2.0 software for IQ500 and IQ800 Series PCs does not work correctly. Update to TouchSmart 3.0 or greater by downloading all of the available Software Solution updates from www.hp.com/support . Install them in the order that follows.
    The following versions (or later) of the various TouchSmart applications are compatible with Windows 7:

  • Blank Screen after sign in - any ideas?

    A few days ago my IQ515 was running slow so I shut everything down and pressed restart. After 2 hours computer still hanging so pressed power off button. Next day went to boot up and got error "Computer did not close down properly etc etc". Went to start in normal mode and all OK with windows logo and then sign in screen. However about 5 seconds after sign in screen goes blank. Mouse still shows and touch screen appears to work but screen completely blank. After while get error message on screen saying "HP touchsmart calendar and notes has stopped working". Rest of screen blank.
    Have tried to sign in using all safe modes but still get blank screen but this time with line at top of screen saying "Microsoft (R) windows (R) (Build 6001 - service pack 1)" also words "safe mode" in all four corners. But still no workable screen.
    Have tried using F10, then F5 then F10 but screen still blank. Tried F8 to log in but same story.
    Computer just out of Warranty so any help appreciated.

    Try the following and let me know.
    Boot the computer normally and log-in.
    At the black screen, hold down the ctrl and alt keys and press delete.
    Select Task Manager.
    In the bottom left select More Details ( if it's not already selected ).
    Click in the Name column header to arrange the processes in alphabetical order.
    Look for an entry called Run Once Wrapper (RunOnce.exe) - if you see it listed, right click on it and select End Task.
    Does the Desktop now show?

  • IQ512UK and Windows 7

    I have been in contact with HP for several months regarding upgrading to Windows 7 and have beed assured that it will work fine. Having bought a brand new copy of the OS, I installed it on a partition of my drive which I dedicated to Windows 7, keeping my original drive with Vista. I then went to HPs support page and downloaded all of the updates. Then my problems began. Some updaptes were'nt installed, although I wasn't told why, just a msg stating 'instal failure', some updates gave me the 'blue screen' and others resulted in the driver being reported as 'incompatible' and that the hardware had been prevented from working. As HP's recommended 'upgrade' wasn't going to work, I carried out a complete 'upgrade' keeping my files/programmes etc. This worked fine for a while until I lost all touchscreen facilities with my PC.
    Contacting HP for advice, I received an email from them telling me that unless I use their own Windows 7 Upgrade Discs, there is no way that I can upgrade my IQ512uk to run Windows 7. I asked where I could get them from and was told that I can't as my PC wasn't eligible for the upgrade(!) They advise that I reinstall Vista but I want to use Windows 7. They failed to mention that a brand new PC of 13 months could not be upgraded to a new OS without buying a new PC.
    Can anyone tell me if I am misunderstanding their explanations or if there is a way to get this working? I just don't believe that a company with HP's reputation would just leave customers 'high and dry' with a duff computer. Their CS is usually first class but if there is no resolution to this, I shall be forced to go to another company who can keep their products 'future-proof'. Sorry for the rant but I'm feeling badly let down by this state of affairs.
    Anyone who can help, I'll be really grateful for your assistance.

  • More IQ506 issues

    The Touchsmart calendar does not work. When I add an event, the yellow event indicator light at top right of PC does not light. When I close Touchsmart the event/reminder is not retained. Also I cannot use the 'Add event type' feature.

    i don't seem to have the problem your describing here - might be worth checking what version HP Calender you have, mine is 2.3.3134.13365 (Click on settings in Calender and hit "About" for version details... if yours is lower version then download the latest version using the "Support & Drivers" link from top of this page...

  • TouchSmart 600-1050 - Graphics Problem with MS Outlook

    I have a TouchSmart 600-1050. When I open MS Outlook, and then open the Calendar in a separate window, the window opens as non-maximized and everything is fine. When I maximize the window (I start in Week view), the tasks below each day do not stretch to fit their now wider column. It's as if the graphics don't recalculate for that screen element. Once I am maximized and see the problem, I have to switch to another view (e.g. Month or Day) and back to Week and it will fix itself. Feels like a graphics problem, underpowered chipset or bug in driver (?).
    This was not a problem on my HP Desktop I had before, and it is not a problem on my 3 year old Lenovo ThinkPad X60. All are running W7 and using Office 2007.
    Any ideas? The graphics driver is up to date according to HP Update and Device Manager.

    Thanks for your reply. I tried both of your suggestions and the issue occurred in both. I've never noticed the sub-content not maximizing properly in other apps, but haven't tested thoroughly.
    Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    - Should I checked a different way to see if I have the latest drivers?
    - Is there any way for me to upgrade my 600-1050 with the graphics card in the 600-1055? The 1050's "Mobile PCI Express Module" is open/available. Could I buy the nVidia GeForce GT 230 that comes with the 1055 and hook that up?
    Only reason I suggest this is that the graphics seem sluggish to update at times.

    for calendars, you can use Microsoft Outlook, Yahoo! Calendar or Google Calendar or Lotus Notes Calendar.
    Google Calendar is fine, you just have to install the Google Mobile Sync on your Blackberry.
