Touchsmart IQ500uk

Hi, Im looking for some help. My touchsmart keep hanging every now and then and i have to push the power button to restart the pc. So far I have restored back to factory settings twice in the last two day, but that does not seem to make mch difference. It seems to happen if im doing something on it, Never when its just sitting there. I have alled support but all they told me to do was make sure it is up to date. I have done all the updates even then seagate had drive one. But still hangs. Pc does not seem very happy if i plug other drives into it via usb either. This has only started in the last few weeks before that it use to be quite happy with the drives plugged in via usb. and yes it does hang without the drives. Sometime when i have to reboot via power button the screen is currup on return so another reboot and chkdisk is required, which it does. and then we are up and running again until the next hang up. What should i do or shold I just get hp to collect and sort. Cheers for you help in advance john

I have an addition to my post, I have done the a hardwear diagnostic and says that my smart short test failed and it would not do anything after that. so I had to power down to restart it OMG this is doing my head in today. Cheers john

  • HP ENVY TouchSmart 4 Ultrabook - Sound and Video Lags and Distortions

This issue has been previously reported and noted as solved, but it is not solved. See the link to the other post below.
Ways in which I attempted to address this myself...
I first re-installed all drivers and updates, including BIOS updates. After that didn't fix the problem, I did a full wipe/re-install of windows 8, and again, updated all drivers from the HP website. This issue happens on both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. I then did an exchange, and even the new exchange ultrabook is experiencing this issue. HP technicians, there is something faulty with this device. Please acknowledge and address ASAP.

  • HP ENVY TouchSmart Ultrabook. I accidentally deleted my audio.

    Product/Model: HP ENVY TouchSmart 4-1115dx
    3rd generation Intel Core i5-3317U
I was cleaning up my laptop by uninstalling things from the control panel, and I accidentally uninstalled my audio drivers and everything that has to do with audio. I tried to exit out, knowing that I pressed the wrong thing to uninstall, but it wouldn’t let me exit or press cancel. So now in the bottom right side on the desktop layout on the audio icon it says: No Audio Output Device is installed. It also has an X circled in red that appears on the icon. In addition when I go to the HP Utility Center, my Beats Audio icon doesn’t appear. When I go to the troubleshooting report for playing audio it states:
     Check audio device
Issue not present There might be a problem with your audio device.
One or more audio service isn't running
Issue not present Both the Windows Audio and the Windows Audio End Point Builder services must be running for audio to work correctly. Atleast one of these services isn't running.
I would very much appreciate it if I could somehow re-install my audio back! It’s essential.
    Thank you.

  • Audio problem; buzzing noise (HP Spectre XT TouchSmart 15-4011nr)

Hi, I recently bought an HP Spectre XT TouchSmart 15-4011nr Ultrabook. I'm getting this annoying buzzing noise while listening to music or streaming movies. The store change my laptop for another one and after a few minutes listening I got the same behaviour on the new (same model) laptop. Is this a model problem? Is there anyone with the same problem?

Solution found for me.  First, a little background.   I have a HP Spectre XT Touchsmart 15-4010NR and also have the same annoying  buzzing noise.  Usually lasts less than a second and is intermittent.  Counted it 13 times in four minutes of a YouTube audio file.  Time between the buzzes varies significantly ranging from a second or two to over a minute.  Once during the four minutes the audio cut out completely for less than a second.  My solution, I unplugged the AC adapter.  No more problem whatsoever as long as I'm on the battery.  Tried this multiple times, plugging the AC back in for a few minutes, then the same on battery.  The result, the buzzing occurs only when the AC is plugged in, and does not occur at all when on battery power.  The AC power adapter provides power and charges the battery normally.  Not sure what to conclude from this.  I suppose the AC power adapter or cord could have an issue.  Not going to go out and buy another one to test whether this is the case.  It's an inconvenience, but I'll just unplug the AC power when listening to audio.  If I listened to long recordings or movies this could become a real issue.  I'd be curious to know if it's a hardware problem, or something I could adjust in the settings on the computer, or something else like a grounding issue.   Interested if others can confirm my findings and expand on them.  out

  • DO NOT BUY HP PAVILLION TOUCHSMART 20 ALL-IN-ONE

My experience with this desktop has been very poor.  I have owned a computer since they have been offered to consumers and I say from experience that this is the worst computer I have owned.  I have been on the phone with techs twice for over an hour.  My computer works ok for a little while and then becomes unstable.  My internet truly never closes.  Scary, if I backspace the application I logged out of is open.  Sometimes I will click on an item and the computer will go blank. I have to turn the computer off to clear whatever is going on with it. I have only owned this computer three months.  Maybe it is the all in one feature & maybe not.  My advise is that it is too many issues with this model to think about investing in it.

    Hello Simonos,
I understand that your touchscreen on your HP TouchSmart 20 All-In-One PC is not responding. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Troubleshooting Touch Screen Issues in Windows 8, which will walk you through the steps needed to troubleshoot the issue you have described.

  • How do I resolve "BOOTMGR is missing" on startup of HP TouchSmart IQ816 Desktop PC (VISTA)?

Product:  HP Touchsmart PC IQ816 Desktop
OS:  Windows Vista Home Premium with Windows Media Center (64-bit) with Vista Service Pack 1
Error Msg:  "BOOTMGR is missing" "Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart
Changes:  No changes have been made to system since purchase
    Actions Taken:
    1.  Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del only restarts the computer and returns to same black screen with error message: "BOOTMGR is missing" "Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart".
    2.  Per HP troubleshooting, checked BIOS (F10) for presence of hard drive--it's present (ST3750630AS).
    3.  Per HP troubleshooting, shut computer down for greater than 5 seconds. Restarted and pressed F8, but "Advanced Boot Options" screen did not open. I do not have a recovery disc.
    3.  Question:  How do I replace the "BOOTMGR" if I do not have a recovery disc?  What are my options -- can I download the "BOOTMGR" from some site?  Help!!!!!!! I am a novice user.

Current Boot Order: 1. CD-ROM GGroup, 2. Hard Drive Group, 3. Network boot group, and 4. Floppy Group.
I checked the new drive using F9 on desktop and Seagate Tools (using another conputer).  The new hard drive received no errors and passed all tests.
I am unable to duplicte the error, because I cloned the old HDD to the new one. Now I am unable to get it to boot up from the recovery discs.  I shut the computer down after inserting recovery disc 1 by holding in the power button until system shuts down and holding it in for an additional 50 to 10 seconds before restarting.  Once restarted it either: 1) loads to windows error recovery with the followinf options-- Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, or Start Windows Normally (no other options); or 2) it by passes booting from rtecovery CD and proceeds to windows screen and then to an HP Invent Screen with "Please Wait..." continually running --this screen ahas the following statements:
DO NOT turn off PC during this one time setup process
Your PC restarts several times durinf this process
Messages may pop up onto your screen. Ignore these messages until you are prompted to Restart or Shut down (which never happens)
The computer has the screen (described in number 2 above) on as I type. It says "Please wait ..." with three blocks/squares running accross the bottom of the screen beneath "Please wait..."  This state is as far as it proceeded when it first acceppted the recovery discs. After it asked for and received disc 3, it has remained on theis screen "Please wait..."  As stateed before, I waited for more than 5 hours before trying something else.
I have to depart on business and will be away from my computer for about 4 hours. I will check back for your post and suggestions upon my return or about 8 pm tonight (11 December 2012).  I will leave the PC running or processing the Please wait while I'm gone.
Thanks for your time and support (and quick responses).

  • How do I download the solution center to my HP Touchsmart 310 pc

I have a HP Touchsmart 310 PC with the Windows 7 operating system.  Back in January I started having trouble logging in on my page.  I was the only admin on the pc, so I could not access certain information or make any changes to the computer.  I finally erased everything in the computer memory and started over from scratch.  I have an HP Photosmart printer that I use, but when I re-installed the software, it did not include the hp solution center, so I can't scan any documents or photos to my pc.  I need help!

    Hi,
Please let us know what is your printer, hope we can help.

  • Cannot detect any wireless networks on my HP ENVY TouchSmart m7 j120dx

    Hello,
My laptop won't pick up any wireless networks at all - I'm having what seems like a few different problems:
    1.  Because the laptop won't pick up any wireless networks, I can't of course connect to the internet without using my ethernet cable.
    2.  When I try to turn my adapter on using the F12 key, all it does is toggle airplane mode - which isn't going to help me connect to the internet.
    3.  When I go to 'Network' under PC Settings, I can toggle airplane mode but the bluetooth is greyed out and can't be toggled and it doesn't even give me an option to turn back on my wifi adapter.
    4.  When I went into the Network and Sharing Center to enable the adapter that way under 'Change Adapter Settings', I couldn't even see the adapter listed there.  All it showed was Ethernet and Hamachi because I use LogMeIn Hamachi on my computer.
By this point, I was like "Oh, great - the adapter might somehow not even be there even though it was last night," (I was online wirelessly the night before) so I went into the device manager and then expanded Network Adapters I only saw the same two Ethernet and LogMeIn adapters.
    5.  So next, I tried downloading the adapter - but the problem is, I have no idea what kind my laptop is supposed to have.  Going to the download drivers section in the support area of the hp website, I found many options and none of them seemed to work.  I also tried redownloading the Wireless Button Driver (whatever that's called) and that didn't work.
    5.  I even tried doing a system restore to a point of about a week ago - this also did not solve my problem because the same things were happening and the same things I tried above still are not solving the problem either.
I know countless other people have had the same problem(s) mentioned above (simple Google search told me that) with their HP ENVY Notebook PCs, so I'm hoping that someone can help me and finally solve this problem for me.
The model  is HP ENVY TouchSmart m7 j120dx, the model number is E8A11UA#ABA, and my computer is running Windows 8.1 64-bit.
    On another note, here's the names of the only 2 adapters that show up in my device manager list (one is for LogMeIn Hamachi);
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (Ethernet)
LogMeIn Hamachi Virtual Ethernet Adapter (Hamachi)
The wireless was working fine before with Hamachi installed, so I doubt that has any significance.
If there's any other information you need that I did not mention above, feel free to ask me.  I look forward to someone replying as soon as possible and being able to find a solution to this problem for me!
EDIT: One other thing I should mention is that the wifi in my location is working fine for every other device I try (phone, gaming console, other people's laptops/desktops, etc.

    Hello dginther,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand wireless is not working properly. If the issue just began occurring, I would perform a system restore. I want you to bring the computer back to the earliest restore point possible, in an attempt to dodge whatever caused the issue. Here is a document on how to perform a System Restore: System Restore
Next, please try the steps in this HP document: Troubleshooting Your Wireless Network and Internet Connection (Windows 8)
These steps should be enough to resolve the issue. If not, you can try a manual reinstall of the driver:
    1. Go into Device Manager, then Network adapters.
    2. Right-click on the wireless driver, and select "Uninstall".
    3. Restart the computer. This will force the driver to reinstall itself.
Please let me know the results of your troubleshooting. Thanks!

  • Getting a hp mce remote for touchsmart 300-1125

I want to add a remote control to my HP Touchsmart 300-1125 and am thinking to order the 5070-5600 HP remote (random link: http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-COMPAQ-5070-5600-Media-Center-Remote-Control-/330414657906#ht_805wt_911).
    I wonder about two things:
    1) The IR Receiver *is* built-in, isn't it? (Device Manager lists a functional eHome IR device)
If in doubt, where should I look for the IR receiver sensor on the case?
    2) I think the 5070-5600 remote lists as being made for the older IQ series of Touchsmarts. Will it work with the newer 300 series?
    Thanks
    Mike

All MCE remotes from the past 8 years send out the same codes. There are a few newer HP specific codes, but 95% of the buttons are exactly the same, grab a 5 year old Gateway MCE remote, it'll work just the same as a new HP one!

  • VIDEO/LIVE TV Playback stuttery/jumpy after 20min on WMC, Win 7, Touchsmart 600-1070a

A few weeks ago the playback of either recorded or live TV on my Windows Media Centre in Windows 7 on my HP Touchsmart 600-1070a PC started becoming jumpy after about 20 or so minutes of viewing.  I turn WMC off and back on, but it still lags about 20 frames behind the audio playback, which interestingly is still smooth and even.  I initiated a complete system restore back to factory settings which I thought might fix the problem.  Unfortunately the problem is still occuring.  Just this morning though, I received a message on my desktop saying: "Display Driver Stopped Responding and Has Recovered.  NVIDIA Windows Kernal Mode Driver Ver 186-60 stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Could this be the problem?  I have run HP diagnostics, and there are no errors appearing, although there really should be at least some indication as to why the image begins to lag behind the audio.  Also, my digital TV signal could not finish as it could not receive a channel.  My digital antenna was working fine until a few weeks ago when this stuttering appeared.  Interestingly, watching a movie online also gives me a jumpy, stuttery playback after about 20 minutes.  Can anyone help?  Many thanks, Olga

    Hello Varonte
Are you running Windows 7 32bit or 64bit? Have you tried updating or downgrading your video card drivers? Based on your first post it sounds like a driver issue. Since your video card driver is reporting that it is crashing is one symptom and the delay in video and not audio also indicates it may be video driver related.

Do you have Windows 7 32bit/64bit? I would suggest updating your video card drivers as well. As I stated above the problem sounds like a driver issue.

  • WiFi on TouchSmart 600-1350

I have a wireless network in my home and my desktop (HP TouchSmart 600-1350 Desktop PC) was connected to it and now it is not.
I have tried enable the wireless network (not found), I have disabled the ethernet connection (which there is no place to connect an ethernet to my desktop), and I have restarted my router and still nothing.
I have other comptuers and devices on this wifi network and they are all working fine.
    How do I fix this?

    Hello AngelicMarine:
You reinstalled the software and drivers for the 802.ll LAN wireless . It still does not work. Things as you know eventually burn out. This means your wireless card is bad. No they are not easy to replace. Where you able to locate the port for internet cable?  If so then that's  is all you can use untill you call HP Direct Support and have them replace the wireless card and service your computer for any upcomimng hardware failers. I would not trust a thrid party computer repair shop breaking down the computer. To much is envolved just getting to Lan module one mishap could damaged your motherboard or bazel screen.  Yes you are out of warranty the HP Derect Support will give you a set price for the replacing the Lan module it comes with a 1 year waranty. This is the good part if your computer comes back with any kind damages to it.  HP has to and will fix them free of charge.
My HP Touchsmart 600-1050 went in for a motherboard replacement the computer was returned to me damaged it had deep scratches in the bazzel screen and the touch screen was not working in sections so they had to replace it also the back support leg was cracked.  They spent more money on this computer then what it is worth just in parts alone.  Another poster is in the process of getting a new computer because HP Direct Support damaged it beyond repairs. Rember to always ask to speak to supper visors and do as little with phone tech operators . I am not allow to post HP's contacts here in forom moderators hate it. When call HP Direct support dial extension 79 ask to speak with the CTO, He will see to it that your computer is fixed.
These computers are nothing like the old computers were like. It's bad enough just replacing the Optical drive . Have you ever removed the back cover of your computer?  The Lan module is at the bottom and the antenna for it is near the web-cam.  That's a lot of layers to break down lots of tiny screws and parts to  remove and put back not an easy task.

  • Cant install any driver for Hp NVidia gt230 on Touchsmart 600-1055

Last few years I bought a HP Touchsmart oversea when I travelled to US then I brought it back to Australia. First couple months it was fine then one day I turned on the PC then It is just black screen after the window 7 boot screen then restart after few seconds. It keeps repeating that process unless I go to Safe mode and remove its NVidia driver and replace with window standard driver ( Video Controller VGA compatible) then I can boot up the window normally but cant use any program that require the delicated graphic card. I have tried hard to find its driver from every resources that I can find on the internet including Hp website and NVidia webiste but still again no luck. for 3 years I still cant find the driver for this that can make it working. What happened? is it my graphic card physically fault or because the software isusse? I forgot to mention that I even try to use the DVDs that I orders from HP USA and try to factory recovery but it is still having the same issue. I try to install many different version of window in cluding win 7 32&64 bits, Window 8 pro 64 bits then STILL NO LUCK. So could anyone please tell me what happened and how to fix it cause as I am aware that HP australia not support for HP USA product and I dont want to see my expensive desktop become a brick.
    Thanks

    Hello Trung_Hau_Le,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that you are having issues where you cannot use the higher end graphics card installed in your HP TouchSmart 600-1055 Desktop PC. The issue you are describing appears to be a physical issue and I think it would be best if you contacted HP technical support for repair options.
US support link to contact options for HP products purchased in the US.
Outside of US support link to contact options for HP products purchased outside the US.
Now just because you purchased the computer in Australia does not mean your warranty is not good in the US. I am providing you with a link to theHP Global Warranty and FAQs, which states the following:
HP Global Warranty covers HP products at the level of standard warranty offered in the country in which it is used. For example, a product purchased in country "A" and moved to country "B" receives the current warranty coverage provided by country "B" (if that product is marketed or supported in country B)
This means that your computer  receives the same treatment in the US as a computer sold in the US. I would recommend you contact HP Technical Support to have your issue addressed.
I would like to thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • The touchscreen of my HP Touchsmart IQ532NL is not working at startup.

Hi, I have a strange problem. When I start my PC (Touchsmart IQ532NL, Windows 7), the touchscreen is not working. It even does not make the beep sound when I touch the screen. After a while (10 minutes or so), the touch input suddenly starts working. And then it works flawlessly. This happens every time when I start up the PC for the first time on the day. When touch input finally has started working, it also works after reboot. As if it has to be warmed up...
My PC dates from may 2009, it was originally delivered with Vista and Windows 7 upgrade. The touchscreen used to work fine for two years, it seems this problem has occured since I have recently restored the system to factory-settings and re-installed Windows 7 update. I have even restored it  again last week to see if this would help, but it didn't.  The problem occurs also in Vista, before installing the Windows 7 upgrade.
I have tried everything, including cleaning the screen, run Bios-update, run all necessary Windows updates etc. I have called HP assistance, they are not familiar with this problem. Who is?
