Sorry, but the answer is no to both questions.  You have a 32bit system that holds a max of 4GM of memory.

you have to disable the graphics card driver to update to windows 8, it will look a little choppy but thats cause hp hasn't released a supportive graphics driver for windows 8. I sure hope Hp updates the graphics driver soon.

  • IQ 524 Touchsmart memory upgrade

Has anyone successfully upgraded their IQ 524 Touchsmart from the factory installed 4GB to 8GB? HP tells me it's possible with Windows 7 64-bit, but doesn't actually sell the chips. I'd like to order them from Kingston (with a money-back guarantee) but I'd like to know if anyone has any experience. Thank you.

    Hello treadmill63,
Take a look at this document, which describes details regarding upgrading memory.  Please let me know if this helps.
    Good luck!

This is not that simple as on the MT desktop.
If you would like to add MXM graphics to AiO with on board graphics you would need to replace also Thermal module , the LVDS cable and to add MXM card bracket.
But looking into the configuration on support web your unit should be structured with 1GB discrete graphic card. Or not??
If you are not familiar with unit tear down procedure, capable of complying with ESD protection  i recommend you to let an IT specialist to do the job if you decide to go for it.

  • Error installing N-Trig MultiTouch software for HP TouchSmart tx2 1270us with OS Windows 7

Hello. I would like to ask somebody to help me installing the Multitouch technology on my TouchSmart tx2 1270us Notebook PC. The original system came with OS Windows Vista. I bought an Upgrade for Vista from Microsoft and installed Windows 7. The problem is, that I can not use my Notebook as a Tablet( normally its working), because during the instalation of the file, downloaded from drivers&support page, comes an FATAL ERROR DURING INSTALATION, which says, that N-Trig HARDWARE was not found on my OS. The Multitouch technology does not work with WINDOWS VISTA. All I did before, was Windows reinstalation due to extremely slowed down system running, caused by too many installed programs and aplications. Exactly that reinstalation caused the whole problem. Now Im very sad about that and can not write on the display with a finger. Can anyone please help ME? If you want I can pay something. PLEASE HELP... Thanks.

    Hello DimtrijShal:
Sorry to hear about Windows 7 failer. Are you able to do a full recovery using your orginal recovery disk? If so please back up all the files you have before doing it. Write down the Windows 7 product code also. We will need it ounce you have vista windows reinstalled. You can find it in the package it came in or in the control panel displaying computers information. This number is also none as product key.
Now that your computer has been restored to original factory condition. You are now able to update Vista Windows to Windows 7 but this time you are going to use Windows Up Advisory open it up should be listed. This time just type in Windows 7 Product Code number and let it do its thing.
You can also goto your computers update web-page and see what's all involved in Up grading to Windows 7 they may have HP's Touchsmart software upgrades listed for downloads. Most Touchsmart software is listed. I have not yet seen any that did not display them. Yes you are in the correct section for your post. Some one need to realise HP Touchsmart tx2 are Touch computers also. So do not move your post from here. Let us know if you are still having troubles with your upgrade. Thank you frrw

  • CPU & Video card Upgrade - Motherboard manual, GPIO switch settings, BIOS update or ?

According to the HP TouchSmart 600-1120 Desktop PC Product Specifications page the motherboard supports the following CPUs:
Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
    Intel Core i7 820QM Quad Core (C)
    Intel Core i7 720QM Quad Core (C)
    Intel Core i7 620M Dual Core (A)
    Intel Core i5 5x0M Dual Core (A)
    Intel Core i5 430M Dual Core (A)
I upgraded mine with the Intel Core i7 720QM Quad Core.  The two Quad Cord i7 processors do not have a GPU Video chip integrated on the CPU fab like the listed Dual Core processors,  and therefore neccesate the need for an external video card.
According to the HP TouchSmart 600-1120 Desktop PC Product Specifications page the motherboard supports One Mobile PCI Express Module (MXM) socket MXM version: 3.0, type A.
HP offered the NVIDIA GeForce GT 230 1GB DDR3 MXM Video Card , part # 513184-001 as an upgrade option on HP Touchsmart 600's, one would assume you could simply purchase this video card, and with either of these "supported" CPUs Intel Core i7 820QM Quad Core or Intel Core i7 720QM Quad Core and you would be in business, but NOOOO, it does not work!
I tried it on mine, using the Intel Core i7 720QM Quad Core and HP NVIDIA GeForce GT 230 1GB DDR3 MXM Video Card.  The display cycles through various colors, but does not actually provide a usable display.  I can tell the system does boot into Windows 7 (you can hear it) , but you cannot see anything.
There's a bank of DIP switches on the motherboard labled GPIO, which I'd assume is Graphics Processor Input Output, and perhaps there's a switch combo to switch from the Intel CPU/GPU to the MXM slot GPU??? i
I'm unable to find anywhere a manual on the Pentragram motherboard, this may tell how to set said GPIO dip switch if that's what needs to happen?
HP HELP!!!  Your site says the HP Touchsmart is upgradable to the above Intel Quad Core i7 and MXM Video card, BUT HOW?????

    Hi,
I suspect the NVIDIA GTX 760 that you are using is expecting a different BIOS level in the motherboard.  Most of the NVIDIA 760s that have experienced compatibility issues pretty much have been with HP motherboards that don't have version 8 or 80 BIOS level.  The HPE h8-1075UK only has a version 7 BIOS level.
MSI has two "N" model NVIDIA GTX  750 and 750 TI graphic cards that have a switch to allow compatibility with legacy and UEFI BIOS PCs.

  • I have to reinstall hp 802.11 abg wireless lan each time i shut down,

each time i shut down my touchsmart iq790uk, on restarting i have to reinstall the lan driver, after which it works ok, is there a cure?

No. I, myself, made the mistake of assuming Discoverable meant the mouse, or whatever Bluetooth device you have paired, is discoverable and, therefore, needed so the computer can find it. That's not what it means. It means the computer is discoverable by other devices. And, other devices would include someone else nearby attempting to hack in by way of Bluetooth. I suppose if you live on a farm in Utah with the nearest neighbor fifty miles away, it's a moot point.
I just realized what discoverable means because someone's SMART Phone in a nearby apartment yesterday was attempting to pair with my computer, I think quite by accident. I got a message to that effect and denied. It may also have meant that they left their phone, unwittingly, on Discoverable. In any case, Discoverable should be disabled
On further research, I found that it's also advisable in Bluetooth Prefernces> Advanced to leave "Blutooth-PDA-Sync Modem" in "Serial ports that devices use to connect to this computer" unchecked (the default is checked, so uncheck it) and "Share my Internet connection with other Bluetooth devices" unchecked, as well.
"Open BT Setup Assistant at startup".... "Allow BT device to wake" and "Prompt for all incoming audio requests" should all be checked.
If your mouse is paired and made a Favorite, you should not drop the connection. Mine is now set up as above and I'm not having any issues staying connected.
Perhaps leaving "Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant...."  checked, the default, presents a security risk. For the time being, I'm leaving it checked.

  • Windows update not started

have tried everything on MS help to get windows update started but since I have had my hard disk replaced this service is just not running any more. have a Touchsmart IQ848HK upgraded to Win7.

    Hello GACHK:
My guess you need to start out with Vista windows first. Then do your upgrade following your computer's up grade page. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01778879&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3985637  Something to do with drivers and using HP's window 7 upgrade disc from HP. HP disc has those needed drivers already on the disc. Least that's what your page say's. No where does it say any thing about a new hard drive insulation so I as sum you need to start out with vista those drivers are orginal. frrw

  • Upgrading the HP TouchSmart 600-1120 Desktop PC

soooo im really unsatisfied with this comp (but it was a present so i cant return it and spurn the family member that got it for me) and would like to upgrade it to a better gaming machine
    am i correct that the
    Intel® Core™ i7-840QM Processor
    (8M Cache, 1.86 GHz)
is the best CPU i can use without some form of extra cooling?
im currently also looking at the
    Intel Core i7 Mobile 820QM 1.73GHz 8M PGA988 CPU - SLBLX
since ive found it for as low as $300 compared to $600 for the 840QM (any suggestions on where i might find a better price?)
also according to hps support site the motherboard contains an expansion slot for
One Mobile PCI Express Module (MXM) socket
    MXM version: 3.0, type A
    <35W
Used for MXM graphics card included with selected models
is it correct to assume that this slot is currently empty and compatible with a  nVIDIA GT 240M N10P-GS-A2 1GB MXM A VGA Card ?
also ive been told that this card alone would need a fairly expensive semi-custom cooling system. unless the 600-1120 has one installed for an existing graphics card ( which it doesnt correct? )
im also under the impression that the GPU is actually intergrated into the motherboard?  does this make installing this new graphics card a waste?
and finally i plan to throw in
    G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-8GBSQ
this is because im unsure of what exactly is in the memory slot right now (its the factory 4GB stick) if anyone has the information on this so i could by just one stick of the same brand instead of buying 2 new stick that'd be awesome :-).but its not a big deal as the difference is only about $30
    thank you for your assistance

Check with HP sales on the MMX video card and see what is offered.
These are the motherboard specifications for the TouchSmart 600-1120.  If you should buy additional memory then be sure to match up with specifications (CAS, latency, timing etc..) of the existing dimm(s).

  • IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE TO UPGRADE TOUCHSMART TX2 1274nr TO WINDOWS 7??? Many issues!

Please...any expert have advice on upgrading the Touchsmart TX2-1274nr model from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium using the HP upgrade kit?
I have had several HP help chats since I bought this touchsmart model, and I've only had it for a little over a week and a half.  And, it seems the HPOP chat does not allow me to type my sentences out fully...always cuts me off and chops up my sentences.  Plus, it seems the agents that "help me" never seem to understand ANYTHING I am asking.  This is quite frustrating, irritating and perplexing.
I tried for the first time to upgrade yesterday, and I did not understand the compatibility report.  First, it says to update the "KEYBOARD FILTER" prior to upgrade.  I searched the computer and nothing comed up, so I have no idea WHAT EXACTLY this is so I can update the driver.  Secondly, it recommends uninstalling 11 programs...6 of which are games (which is fine).  However, it recommends uninstalling the ATI INSTALLER MANAGER and ATI CONTROL CENTER.  This is another VERY CONFUSING and VAGUE recommendation.  This is because only the ATI INSTALLER MANAGER is listed in Programs & Features list.  When you try to uninstall, it becomes confusing as to does one remove ALL ATI COMPONENTS...and, if not, how do you removed just the CCC and the INSTALLER MANAGER.  I managed to get the CCC uninstalled, by performing and "custom" uninstal of the ATI INSTALLER MANAGER in the Prgrams & Features list, but the INSTALLER MANAGER still remains on the computer.
These problems proved for me confusing.  So, I go yet again to HP Help chat and the "tech" was NOT HELPFUL.  A little sarcastic & vague and just kept saying follow the onscreen instructions.  The instructions have me confused, which is why I was asking so WINDOWS 7 INSTALLED CORRECTLY.
So, I went to another forum and asked for help.  I was advised that the Keyboard Filter most likely meant it was referencting the N-Trig DuoSense Digitizer, and I was provided the link to the manufacturer's site to download the Windows 7 compatible drivers.  HOWEVER, I could not find out why the compatibility report kept telling me to update the "Keyboard Filter" prior to upgrading.
So, I ended up removing all on the compatibility report suggested removals prior to upgrading EXCEPT the KEYBOARD FILTER DRIVER UPDATE & the ATI INSTALLER MANAGER.
I performed the full UPGRADE anyway.
Sure enough, when all was said and done, after the "UPGRADE" it seemed my system was running noticably SLOWER THAN when it had Vista.  Secondly, I LOST MY TOUCHSCREEN ability.  So, I went back to the link the 3rd party forum person recommended for the N-Trip DuoSense Digitizer Windows 7 drivers...and the touchscreen function returned.  However, I KEPT LOSING MY INTERNET CONNECTION.  Well, my wifi apeared to show a full wireless connection to our home network, but I would open up internet explorer and it would load my home page.  I was able to maybe retain my internet explorer connection for a miunute or 2, and then no matter what website I enetered or link  I clicked...NOTHING.  It would just keep indicating it was loading but minutes would pass and nothing would happen.  Plus, the windows system in general seem to be running slower.
So, I am highly irritated & upset over this.  And all my searching and researching on HP site and others seem to not giver SPECIFIC AND CLEAR ANSWERS to any of these issues.  WHY?????  Am I the only one to have ALL THESE ISSUES? This morning, I ended up performing a F11 Windows recovery back to Vista Home Premium.  What should I do?
Please, if anyone has had similar problems, sound off.  Moreover...PLEASE if you have updated your Touchsmart TX2-1274nr SUCCESSFULLY....PLEASE...PLEASE...ADVISE me as to how I may accomplish the same!
I thank any advice/suggestions any of you may have in advance.  Kindly, Jimmyb30ohio

I have the TX2 1012NR and its can upgrade just fine!  Here is a few recommendations "only if u have the HP Upgrade program disks"
If you have them you can install a clean copy and delete everything... Do not use the use me first disk included because it prompts you to install an older BIOS....  Just use the windows 7 upgrade disk and start the process.  The clean install clears your entire drive but does not void your warranty!   When you use the use me first disk after the install it actually loads everything else needed to get you up in running.  The touchscreen driver and the HP Mediasmart programs will have to be downloaded from the HP support site.  Once again its recommended that if there were any programs installed delete them do not try to update them!  This causes issues and countless errors.  Specifically with touchscreen drivers etc uninstall them before installing the ones from HP support.  I found this was not the easy way to do it but the best way...  I also recommend that when doing any sort of BIOS update that you remove your Battery and leave it connected to a power cord only!  Last but not least if you really mess up and its under warranty... Send it to HP they will set it back up to factory defaults under Windows Vista with the more up to date BIOS installed.  I hope my information helps! Sure you might loose some programs but in the end your computer runs faster and smoother because all the programs installed are made for Windows 7....  Also they did release the Touch Pack for download from the Microsoft website here is a link telling more about the features and benefits and how to get it as it is a totally free download...

    HI Dirko99:
    Welcome to the HP  forum!
Thank you for your query.  I am pleased to assist you to the best of my ability!
I understand that after upgrading to Windows 8.1, your remote control does not work, or the volume control built into the side of the computer. HP does not have updated drivers for Windows 8.1 and your computer. Downloading or Updating Software and Drivers for HP Computers. You could try the built in troubleshooter, to aid in resolving issues.  Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:
    a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.
    b. Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting under Settings.
    c. Now type Hardware Troubleshooter in the Search option.

  • Touchsmart 600-1120 successfully upgraded to Windows 8 Pro

I just wanted to report my Touchsmart 600-1120 (BK139AA) was successfully upgraded from Win7 64 bit to Windows 8 Pro 64 bit, and I haven't run into any issues.   Here are the steps I went though.
    1. Made disk image backup using Win7 Backup and Restore.
    2. Ran the Windows 8 advisor tool to have a record the computer passes minimum requirements and I had a list of what apps will no longer work. I did go ahead and removed all of them. I never did use those apps much anyways.
    3. Ordered Windows 8 Pro upgrade DVD from Amazon.  I potentially had multiple computers to upgrade, and wanted the DVD.  Requested the free product key to unlock the Media Center add-on pack and received it in two days via email.
    4. Made another disk image backup using Win7 Backup and Restore in the event a Win7 restore is needed.
    5. Ready to upgrade.  Inserted the 64 bit DVD, nothing happened.  Manually launched Startup.exe on the DVD.
    6. Selected option to upgrade Win7, keeping all docs and preferences and let it go.  Took an hour or so, I didn't keep track.  Rebooted a couple of times and responded to any prompts for info.  When I received the logon screen for the first time, I ejected the upgrade DVD.
    7. When I logged in for the first time, I had no issues with the touch driver.  The touch was very reponsive.  Played around for a while exploring a bit.  It's actually lots of fun.  I've never been exposed to an ipad or tablet, so this was the first time I've experienced a "tabletized" interface for lack of a better term.
    8. Followed the instructions in the email to install and unlock the Media Center pack.  It took a while to add the software.  My only concern was if the AVerMedia TV card (A327) would work.  After the install there was the normal Media Center icon shown on the app tiles.  Launched it and had go through the process of setting up the TV tuner.  Once it found the tuner card (yea!) I told it to use the existing preferences for channels and such and it worked like it did in Win7.
Launched Windows Update and it found a few things to update.  I played around for a couple of hours to get familiar with the new interface, and how to display the old Win 7 desktop.  It took me a while to figure out how to make an image backup.  I had another computer handy with internet access and it was quicker to google to find answers to my questions.  One of which is the option to use the familiar Win 7 backup and restore, so I made a new disk image with the new OS and stored it away.
I have this computer on the kitchen counter and use it mainly for TV watching while cooking and occasional recipe lookups.  In the Windows store, there are some free recipe apps, like allrecipes.com.  I installed a bunch of the free recipe and news apps.  I don't know if I'd use the touch screen on a regular basis, although it is nice to have, it leaves lots of fingerprints, particuarily in a kitchen environment.
I'm very relieved I didn't run into hoops I had to jump thorough considering reading about Win8 upgrade issues others have experienced.

Hello, I was also able to go to Windows 8Pro, but have been unsuccessful trying to go to 8.1 or to 10, great PC feel I will need to restore it back to Windows 7. Have you been able to at least get it up to Windows 8.1? Thanks
