Thank you HP for supporting this system for Win 8 upgrade. I really liked the TouchSmart software though. Does HP have any plans to upgrade the software to be compatible with Win 8?

Hello Ken1766. I understand you're wondering if you can use the TouchSmart applications within Windows 8.
I took a look at your notebook's Software and Drivers page just to make sure the applications hadn't been posted.
Have you tried installing the applications in Compatibility Mode? This installs the programs in such a way that the application thinks it in using whatever version of Windows you tell it. This is particularly helpful in cases such as yours in which the applications have not been ported to Windows 8. Take a look at this article from Microsoft. The section labeled "Run programs made for previous versions of Windows" is the section relevant to you.

Touchsmart software crash in one profile

My 2 day old touchsmart 300-1125 is not responding to the touchsmart software. It instantly freezes and can only be shut down or returned to windows via a control alt delete command.
This only happens in one of the four profile I have set up on the computer. All other user profiles work ffine with the touchsmart software and windows 7/
Any help of idead appreciated.

Yes, I know about the overlap stuff.
Like I said, I was working on it and re-arranging stuff on the page when I discovered the bug.
Actually, I worked around it like this:
Copied the MCListBox to a blank VI.
Created a generic property node.
Linked the property node to the MCListBox.
Set the AUTOSIZE ROW height false
Set all the row heights to 23 instead of 25.
Pasted the copy in place of the original in the control I was working on.
That's what I wanted to do via dialogs, but crashed instead.

Reinstalling TouchSmart software after a clean install / upgrade of Windows 7

I have an HP TouchSmart 610-1150xt. I have no use for much of the preinstalled software, so I would like to perform a clean install of Windows 7. At the same time, I would like to upgrade the preinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate. In addition to all drivers, I would like to reinstall the TouchSmart software. I have already made system restore disks to recreate the factory state, if needed.
Ideally, I would also like to reclaim the hard disk space currently occupied by the recovery partition. During the clean install, I would like to create two separate partitions -- one for the OS and applications; a second for only data.
I have performed numerous clean installs of Windows in the past, but have always had access to copies/licenses of all applications to add to the clean OS. I have downloaded all drivers from the HP website, but cannot find copies of the preloaded software. While the application manager currently allows reinstallation of preinstalled software, it is not obvious that this option would be available from the recovery disks (or the recovery partition) after a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate.
Are individual copies of preinstalled software available from HP, perhaps on an FTP site? If so, how can I download these programs? If individual copies of these applications are not available for download, can they be accessed from the the recovery media or recovery partition after performing a clean install/upgrade of Windows 7?

Update to Touchsmart Software

I tried installing an add on app from the touchsmart community. The message I got back was that I don't have the latest version of the touchsmart software. Tne I ran HP Update and it says all my software is up to date. Does anyone know how I can update the Touchsmart software?

Looks like HP has pulled the previous TouchSmart updates that were there. We will have to wait until they release the next updates for TouchSmart. Touchsmart software for IQ524

I updated my IQ524 to Windows 7 sometime ago and afterwards the Touchsmart software never worked properly. I tried all the updates and suggestions on the support websites but it never seemed to work correctly. I deleted the whole thing and haven't used for many months but would like to now give it a try.
I installed sp44643.exe (HP Touchsmart Application Update) and it will install itself but the minute I open my whole screen resolution changes to very large and blurry icons and font size. I can open programs and use the software but don't know how to correct this screen resolution issue.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Was that software on the PC or was it added by you after purchase? If it was on the PC from the factory, then the Recovery Media should have reinstalled everything to make it the same as when it was new.

Touchsmart Stupid Question

I just got this computer and was messing with the touchsmart software. Now, anytime I open a touchsmart program it's maximized and I can't see any of the other programs at the bottom of the screen. Meaning, I have to close out of each program before opening another. I reviewed the tutorial...checked the help section....read through posts on this site, but can't find out how to restore it back to normal. Any help please!!!

Whenever you double-click the HP TouchSmart Desktop icon or press the home button in the lower right, HP TouchSmart software is supposed to open up in fullscreen onto a TouchSmart home page. Double-tapping a large icon opens into a new full screen experience or temporarily exits out to Windows to run the windowed program (like Help and support). IF the program you opened is in fullscreen mode, simply press the Home button in the upper left of the screen. IF the program exited to Windows, close the program when you are done and click the TouchSmart home icon on the Windows system tray (usually at the bottom left of the screen). Some programs must be ran from Windows and cannot be run within TouchSmart.
If you have a new TouchSmart (300 or 600) then the home page allows you drag the small icons from the bottom of the home page into the middle of the page, turning them into large "icons". These larger icons are actually running programs and you can interact with them.
To put a large icon from the main screen back to the bottom simple touch and hold the large icon and drag it back to the bottom middle.
If an icon is missing from the main screen (middle or bottom), click the personalize button in the lower right, and then select from the list. You might need to click Create tile and then click HP TouchSmart Program to restore icons that came with your PC.

Touchsmart Software

I've had my Touchsmart TX2 for a year now and originally bought an OEM copy of Windows Seven Home Premium to ensure that my laptop was bloatware free. My wife had the laptop while I was gone, and now that I bought her a bigger laptop for school I got the TX2 back. So what touchsmart software do I need for photo's/DVD's/Music etc. other than the
drivers (got those just fine). I really like the look of the software but wanted all the trialware and other stuff I see as not needed and start from a clean slate (hah!).

The original sw and drivers are most likely available from www.hp.com by entering your product # in the search bar on the home page or at the bottom of the homepage by clicking software and driver downloads. You would probably be best off to obtain a set of the recovery media to revert back to it's original factory condition.
Even though I work for the company this is my opinion and not that of HP.

Touchsmart Software upgrade

Looking for software upgrade of touchsmart software like the upgrade Windows 7 from touchsmart 3 to 4 for Windows 8

you have to disable the graphics card driver to update to windows 8, it will look a little choppy but thats cause hp hasn't released a supportive graphics driver for windows 8. I sure hope Hp updates the graphics driver soon.

Im not sure if you will be able to use your touchscreen..
This is a known issue by all that upgrading the OS does not support the touch.. Because the drivers are not available for download on the HP support website..
If you help me up with Product Number we can try to search for the touchscreen drivers for you motherboard..

Can i find original hp touchsmart softwares somewhere?

i bought a hp touchsmart 600 ,1040uk while ago ,recently i changed the partitions,because of that i lost my original hp software,i had backup but i wasn't able to reinstall the backup software,how ever now i have another version of windows 7 installed and is perfectly working but i miss some of the original hp softwares like hp freeview and hp repair ...,does anybody know that i can download them from somewhere or not?

Using network drive in Touchsmart software

I am totally new to windows7/mce and touchsmart and trying to figure out whether to use Windows Media Center or Touchsmart sw or other to play music, video, photos etc.
However, it seems that the Touchsmart sw cannot use files from my home server, where I have all my music and photos.
Can this be true??? I mean, this makes the entire sw suite completely useless?

Hi David,
Touchsmart 2.0 Music Software is unable to access network drives unless you create WMP music Playlists. If you have a couple of thousand Music files then this would become very tedious quickly...
However Touchsmart 3.0 Music is able to access network shared drives, for example:
HP ENVY 17-j005tx Notebook, HP ENVY Recline 27-k001a, HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 G2020T, HP MediaSmart EX495 Server, HP MediaVault 2020, HP ENVY 120 AiO Printer

Is there a way to use my own PNG and/or ICO files within the TouchSmart software?

I have an IQ526 running Windows 7 x64.
Everything runs great... except the mechanical Volume Up/Down/Mute on the unit's right-hand side has stopped working... but that's not my question.
Actual Question:
Is there a way to add some of my own PNG or ICO files to use within TouchSmart.
Some programs have the ugliest default icons so I'd like to make things look a little nicer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No you can not use your own pictures in Windows 7 for icons. Only as desktop background. Microsoft took a way that feature from us. If you upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate and download XP mode the windows xp theams will work only if they are compatible to graphic card. In HP Touchsmart 3 software click on personalized and then on create a tile. Then click windows program then click on advance. Few more choices icons will display. Not knowing the icons format doesn't help us. Not only that but there isn't a way to add them into icon window. Thanks to microsoft for taken our creative ways of setting up our own destop like XP Version had. frrw

have 2 questions one complicated . and i give thanks in much much much thanx in advance, ill even make u a free anything u want theme(pretty good at it)
1)is it possible to plug the berry to the pc and have it show up in my computer so i can juggle stuff around from sd card to device memory and back and forth?
i down loaded the usb and modem drivers eng (dm4.6 b13) that xandrex posted, and my phone settings i believ are right options-memoery on-no-prompt, yet it still is not showing up. it wasent even showing up when i had the desk top software on my pc. my first bold worked just fine like that then i got another one and it wont, i been tryen figure out for weeks.. pppppppppppllllleeeeaasssse help
2) ok keep in mind what i said in umber 1:::::::this is what i did to try to fix it.
      i got all this info from u guys
      A)first thing i did is download the driver that i mentioned in number one ,but did not install it right then

i tryed this several times, and i have older cds with older versions and none of them would load all the same message, sooooooooo now im worst of than i was before. i not only cant get to my device memory still three my windows explorer, (ps media manager would not work either when i did have the software on here)now i cant even get the application loader which i use alot too. cause the software wont load.man im not a pc wiz but im not a retard either,the instructions were very very every well written, and went very smothly,except i was ent sure about were to put a space on a file that iwas directed to rename ,when i was deleateing everything. im a river boat pilot and my berry is my a big part of my life my connection to the world and my family 5 kids and my whole digital life haha thats funny to me.anyway i would really really appreciate any info or help anyone can send my way, and i will pay it forward . yall have a pretty tight site here, i been doing the crackberry thing but man yall have sum good info here                            thanks again   chris

You definitley need to run the clean procedure:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software.
Remove the other copies of the drivers here.

6.as of right now i uninstaled the driver i loaded last night and uninstaled the desktop software again,so as far as i know nothing is instaled right this minute;

Uninstall them, then install the fresh copy of the 4.7 device drivers
I have not yet did the clean uninstall (that yall suggested in that post) since last night. after i did all that last night,i installed the driver and berry would not show up on windows explorer,so then i tried to install desktop again and it left that message on my original post up top,so I restored my commuter and desktop was there again and working (I only really use app loader)    then I uninstaled it again.(not the clean way this time) and started installing and unistalling the drivers ,which lead to no prevail.            I would like to be able to use the app loader,and I would REALLY like for my phone to show up on my PC again so i can juggle my media around from SD card to device and all that stuff.
what would u suggest I do first sir?
I have desktop software cd's 4.3 and 4.6        I like the 4.3 version better one more fact (don't know if will help u) this is my second bold my first bold everything worked it showed up on windows explorer and desktop worked then it broke and I got another one and I changed nothing and this one will not show up on PC and media deal on the desktop software wont work,which I don't care bout that if it whould show up on windows explorer.
At the end of this install try connecting the Blackberry to the PC without Desktop manager running.
See if the device comes up correctly. If not run Windows update with the Blackberry plugged in. The
device should be recognized and the device drivers added.

PC switching to Mac - software question.

I am switching from a PC to MacBook Pro...
I am not sure of the best newsgroup to put this in, but I will start with this one.
I have installed Parelles to run a particular Windows app; most others that I use have a mac version.
I have a considerable investment in Win software (i.e. adobe software, Office 2007 etc.). To get the mac version, do I just have to buy it and loose my investment in win software? Will software key numbers from windows work while installing a comparable mac version? My question is about mac software, not win software running under Parallels.

No, you can either:
1. Ask if a crossgrade is available from the software vendor.
2. If none is available, sell the license for your PC software and buy a Mac software equivalent.
Will software key numbers from windows work while installing a comparable mac version?
That varies by software title. Some allow you to change licenses. Check with the software vendor.

Touchsmart software is disabled in Canadian version - not true to advertisement

Many of the touchsmart applications are not available in Canada. Specifically, recipe box, weather, music store, link etc.
Apparently they were removed becasue they are not bilingual. My wife, who I bought the computer for, was very dissapointed not to have recipe box.

you can download the recipe update from the Touchsmart 600-1055 PC software and downloads, which is really amzing because its a canadian PC!!! - i think this is the ONLY PC that has it for some reason. I know the 600-1070a doesn't have it either and that has no multi language issues. Apparently the 600-1070a comes with "Touchsmart 3.0 Ultimate" (What ever that means) and to no surprize according to the 600-1055 omes with the same suite of software??? Someone is holding out on it if you ask me..
