Touchsmart tx2 notebook ,won't boot.

won't boot with repair disc or windows 7 upgrade disc, lights blink and can hear fan. any solutions?

Yes, the 1 blink means your CPU has gone bad.
Unfortunately it needs to be replaced.
Either, if it's in warranty, by HP, or, if it's out of warranty by you or a friend/family member with some computer knowledge or if you don't have any computer savvy people in your immediate vicinity, you can try taking it to a local computer shop.
If your unit is indeed out of warranty, then depending on your location and how you'll be able to switch it (by a friend/family member or pay for it by the local computer store), the better option might be to replace it with a new unit if possible.
Hope I've been able to give you a bit of info that is of use to you.

  • My Pavillion dv9700 notebook won't boot unless I first...

My Pavillion notebook won't boot unless I first boot to a cd. Here's the problem:
I have a dv9700 notebook. It wouldn't power up. A local shop said I needed a new motherboard. I ordered one and installed it. Now when I try to boot it gets to the part where the hard drive starts to spin and suddenly shuts down only to power up again and endlessly continue this loop. I have found that if I first boot to a bootable cd and then at the cd menu choose "Start Windows" instead of "Boot to cd" the computer will start Widows Vista and run normally.
I have reseated the RAM and tried only one card at a time and switched slots. The BIOS is up to date. I have booted on ac adapter only. Battery only. Tried another ac adapter.
The BIOS hard drive diagnostic fails, showing no hard drive installed. I have tried the hard drive in a USB enclosure. It read fine. I have tried another hard drive in this computer, still reboots over and over.
I can't figure out why I need to boot to a CD first then switch to Windows Vista on the hard drive.
    Any ideas? Thanks

  • 2nd HDD bay with HDD = notebook won't boot with HDD in 2nd HDD bay

I recently came into a Pavilion DV9308 Notebook. It was in decent shape, well looked new and since I like tinkering with laptops and the motherboard had the dreaded NVIDIA GPU failure going on, I sent the motherboard out to my motherboard dude and he put a newer NVIDIA video chip in, made some adjustments and modifications to the heatsink cooler etc. Along with my modifications including vent holes and sealing up the fan blowing assembly so when the fan turned on the hot air would leave the laptop it now runs Windows 7 64 bit with a 64GB Kingston OS SSHD and 4GB DDR2 800mhz ram. It runs like lightning and impresses people when they see it boot up in 15 seconds.
The problem is and the whole reason I picked this notebook to restore is because it has two acutal hard drive bays. Well ever since I've gotten the notebook It will not boot with a hard drive in both bays or a hard drive in Bay #2. I had to send the repaired motherboard back once because one of the ram slots wasn't working so this is happening on two different motherboards. I cannot find a reason why this is happening and have yet to find anyone that can help me with this. Can anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong? I have all the correct drivers I think and the laptop runs at 130"F when pushed to the max! That is amazing compared to what it originally ran. It would be awesome if someone could please help me with this. Thanks.

Hello jason9922.  I understand your notebook won't boot with a hard drive in the second bay.
When you say that the notebook won't boot with a drive in the second bay what exactly do you mean?  Does the CAPS LOCK key flash or do you get an error?
When you have the hard drive installed can you access the BIOS?  If so, is the hard drive detected within the BIOS?
I'll keep an eye out for your response.  Have a great day!

  • Notebook won't boot with usb device plugged

    Hi,
Voila, I have a Satellite Pro Sp6100, when i try to boot it whith an usb printer plugged in, the notebook won't start at all. i have latest bios version 1.90.
    Thx,
    Barzot @+

    Hello
It will be interesting to know if the printer is ON or OFF when you start the unit. I have tested my Tecra M1 with USB stick and the boot up procedure needs about 5 min. If I put the USB stick out the unit starts as usual.

  • Installed SSD and Windows 7, now notebook won't boot

I replaced my Windows 8.1 hard drive with a PNY 240GB SSD and Windows 7 64 bit.  Everything worked great! Installed all drivers, everything worked great!  Rebooted many times, everything worked great!  Shutdown notebook for the night, next morning I turn on notebook and get this error message:
"boot device not found, please install an operating system on your hard disk, hard disk 3F0".
I went through the various repair procedures using Windows 7 repair disk with no change.  I reinstalled Windows 7 with SSD formated as GPT drive, got the same error message:
"boot device not found, please install an operating system on your hard disk, hard disk 3F0".
I reinstalled Windows 7 withs SSD formated as MBR drive, got the same error message:
"boot device not found, please install an operating system on your hard disk, hard disk 3F0".
I removed the SSD from the notebook and placed it in a desktop pc, pc works great, no problems with SSD.  Placed SSD back in notebook, got the same error message:   "boot device not found, please install an operating system on your hard disk, hard disk 3F0".   I don't know where to go from here.
    Help please.....

How did you set secure boot and legacy boot in the BIOS? I actually have a very closely related (17t-j029nr) model laptop HP loaned me for my work here and ran a PNY 240 gig SSD in it for a while so it is not a matter of compatibility. Does your laptop have the 32 gig acceleration cache drive in it? Those can be a little complex to configure with an SSD.

  • G62 notebook won't boot from boot disk

Need to recover computer.  I ordered a boot disk from HP.  The disk arrived and my G62 notebook will not book from boot disk.  I checked the bios and it is set to boot from CD.  I also started in safemode and can't locate an autorun exe when I launch explorer.
Basically my computer was hijacked with a nasty virus that has completely taken over my PC.  If I boot normally all I see is an empty desktop and an start menu, can't even get a run prompt.  The virus is disguised as anti virus software and is trying to get me to pay for their $90 software suite to "correct" the problem.
If I hit F11 at start up, the recovery stalls and I get an eternal blank screen.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi, Courtney:
Try the free Kaspersky rescue CD.
That disk will get rid of viruses like those and the good thing is you don't need to be in Windows to run it.
It is a bootable CD (which you make from the download file) and using the graphic user interface (GUI) you can scan your PC for viruses and remove them.
    Link and instructions below:
    http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/rescuedisk
Rather than changing the boot order, just start the notebook and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, tap the F9 key to launch the one time boot menu.  Select the DVD Rom drive and hit the enter key.
You should then see a message displayed on your screen that states in substance:  "Attempting to boot from DVD...Press any key to boot from DVD..."
Press any key and the DVD or CD should boot up.

  • Notebook won't boot, external HD added. Pavilion g6, WIN 7

Windows Boot Manager comes up at power up with message: " Windows failed to start..........Info:  The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible."  No previous problems with bootup, but, yesterday I hooked up a new External HD (WD Passport, 1 TB) in order to backup my entire computer.  Everything went well: formatted, partitioned the drive (500 GB in size) but I clicked on "active" on one of the menus.  Seem to recall that only one partition on a HD can be active, and in the case of the C:/ drive that is the default location for the MBR, but that drive is also the default location for the OS (unless otherwise designated).  I didn't think it would be a problem if I made a partition active on another drive entirely.  I only have WIN 7 on the machine, but I'm guessing the BIOS is looking for the OS on the External HD (it doesn't boot whether I have the Ext. HD hooked up or not), isn't finding an MBR or an OS.  However, before shutting off the computer yesterday, I created a system image on the Ext. HD as was my intention in the first place.  Turned off the computer, and didn't restart it until today, whereupon the no boot, error message events started.

    Hello jade9211.
I believe they meant they created a Windows 7 repair disc (here are instructions) and then set up the boot order as follows.
Reboot the computer and tap F10 until the BIOS loads.
Navigate to the System Configuration section.
    Select Boot Options.
    Select Boot Order.
Change the CD-ROM to the first boot device.
Navigate to the Exit section and save your changes.
I hope this helps.  Have a great day!

You most likely need to get a new AC Adapter (power cord).  There's a small chance it's the port itself...if it is the port then you'd need to send it in for service.

  • T60 Sixteen beeps, 4-4-4-4, during powerup, notebook won't boot thereafter

Dear Thinkpad engineers, I have a Thinkpad T60 with model number/product ID 1952V6L and type 1952-CTO.  It is a 15 Inch laptop. Some months ago, the laptop started beeping 16 times with four beep sequences with 4 beeps in them such as 4-4-4-4.  I did some research on this and found out that this could be due a TPM chip error or RAM errors. Could you please suggest if it's possible to reset the laptop so that it would boot properly? I tried booting without HDD, changing RAM combinations and doing a power on without electricity or by removing battery to drain any electro static voltage left in the laptop . I did hold the power button for 30 seconds without plugging in the power supply and by removing the battery. The 16 beeps are persistent during power up after it's booted with a power supply or battery. I must have enabled on chip security such as TPM because of which this error started appearing. Somebody wrote on the web that this could be due to humidity or moisture which damaged the TPM chip. The laptop didn't fall down ever. Wish that there had been an easy way to disable security on the Motherboard with a jumper so that this error could have been avoided with a hack. I am now awaiting suggestions on how to boot this laptop and avoid those 16 beeps during powerup. This laptop worked flawlessly for two years, it was a refurbished model. Please suggest what to do and if there is a way to fix the laptop or changing the Motherboard is the only option. Thanks very much!

If it isn't bad memory, there is no fix, other than motherboard replacement

  • Bootup HP Spectre Touchsmart 50 4010nr won't boot up. Message: Boot Device Not Found.

    Spoiler (Highlight to read)

Sounds like the hard drive has failed, or is not securely plugged in. Try reseating it to be sure it is secure. Use the F2 Diagnostics at power on to test hard drive.

  • System Error won't boot

I have a HP TouchSmart tx2 Notebook PC, product number VM308UA#ABA, running Win 7. I'm sure I had a virus so I tried to recovery the system to factory settings. It started the process and then a message came up saying it couldn't finish recovery. And now the computer won't even boot. A message saying "Error loading operating system" comes up. I have the recovery disks and I put the first one in and it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Please tell me how to fix this problem.

With disc 1 in the drive and powered down, start the PC and then quickly hold F9 down until the boot device menu loads, use the up down arrow keys to select your dvd drive, then hit enter, it should now boot from Recovery disc 1 and start recovery manager, be sure the wireless is Enabled before the recovery process actually starts.

  • Touchsmart TX2 cannot install software from HP??!!

I just bought this Touchsmart TX2 notebook (1250ED), but whenever I try to download  Touchsmart software or updates from HP,the installation process just stops and disappears!!!!!!!!! the installation has to be retried with recommended settings, which then also fails........
This has happened with all sorts of Mediasmart software. Also with Paint IT! touch by Corel. ( all downloads clearly state that my OS & computer are compatible at the requirement section)
If my touchscreen computer  ( and there aren't that many on the market) is not suitable for touchscreen-technology software then what's the use !!!!!!!!! I might as well sell it!
Can anyone tell me what the h... is going on with this?!!!!
I've installed the original software and upgraded to Windows 7 (32-bit). There is nothing wrong with the computer, it runs fine and passes all scans.

first download the programs on your computer then install them...
then tell us the results.. what happens...

  • EliteBook 8760w won't boot out of the box

As stated, this notebook won't boot out of the box. I get a screen that reads " Phillips windows 7 64bit image"
The below, there a boc to rnter a computer name and to search AD or a abort button.
I've run all the diagnostics and they are fine. I try to tap into f11 and I get a screen flash and then it goes back to starting windows and the usual Phiilps screen. I'm thinking just a bad image and a lemon from the factory.
Does anyone have an answer for me?
