TouchSmart600 - want to watch TV & surf internet at one time, can it be done?
My TV is working, but it fills the screen with no minimize button that I can find.. It's been either TV or internet/desktop. I would like to do both simultaneously.. Thanks! - lildarliin

If you open an application and it fills the entire screen then you likely have the program set to maximize. Press the F11 key on your keyboard to bring it out of this maximized state.

Don't know if there is an option make the download window stay up, but you can bring it back with Ctrl+J then right-click on the download to open the folder it was downloaded to.

Mail won't work with ATT. They want to charge $15/month or a one time fee or $50 to change the codes
My macmail account suddenly stopped working on my MacBook (says there is a problem with the server). At the same time, the Macmail on my Ipad stopped allowing me to move or to send e-mail. ATT wants to charge me a $15/month fee to ensure it doesn't happen or a one time fee of $50 the ensures the fix is good for 5 days. This is an on-going problem - has happened before but I waited and it corrected itself but it has been 2 weeks now. Genius bar people were not helpful.

Are you able to connect to other websites using either your MacBook or your iPad?
Have you tried restarting your home wireless router by powering it off and back on?
Have you tried restarting both your MacBook and your iPad since the problem began?
Can you successfully connect and retrieve your email on either your MacBook or your iPad from another locations, such as free WiFi at a library or fast food restaurant?
Who is your email provider?
ATT (@att.net or similar email address ending in .net)
or
Apple (@mac.com, @me.com @icloud.com or similar email address)
Are you connecting to the internet using ATT U-verse or ATT DSL?

Can you access your ATT webmail directly from the website using Safari or another browser?

I love my iPhone, and didn't really think I had a problem with the battery until I started reading other posts.
My battery was fully charged for today, and watched many YouTube videos, listened to some music, surfed the web on both WiFi and EDGE and received about 4 hours 20 minutes until the 20% warning came on my phone.
Is this normal? My standby time was over 10 hours.

Of course, if you mix it all up (Wifi is not mentioned, just internet use), your mileage may vary. You would probably be pushing 5 hours until your phone died. Seems a bit low. Do a full charge, and try ONE of these things (like video playback only in Airplane mode) to see if you get anywhere near 7 hours. -
I purchased the Aperture progam last year and downloaded to desk top Mac. I now have a mac book pro and want to transfer the program. Is it possible and How do I do it?
What is your Mac OS X version? And your Aperture Version?
Did you buy from the App Store? When you downloaded Aperture from the App Store, you only need to sign into the App Store with the Apple ID you used to buy Aperture and to download it to your Mac Book Pro from the "Purchased" tab at the App Store. Your licence covers the installation on all your Macs for private purposes.
If you bought a licence key from the Apple Store, not the App Store, copy the installer you downloaded to your Mac Book Pro and run it there. Then unlock Aperture with your licence key.

I have several itunes libraries and playlists on several drives and directories. Is there an easy way to combine all these files into one library with one play list? Currently it takes up alot of space and I do not have all the media available readily useable.
Interesting. If it claims to do it, then it should; I didn't think it did. Importantly, Acrobat doesn't know how to read INDD files, except that it knows how to run InDesign to make a conversion. If there is any trouble running InDesign on that machine, it will affect it.
Still, I'd recommend exporting. With InDesign documents the export settings used are critical, and you'd want to control them rather than have some default. -
Want my JFrame to be the *only* one that can end the program when closed
Hi all,
I have an application that is essentially a launcher for other applications -- it's a holder to allow us to demo our work and other Java examples (not necessarily our work). The launcher will either run methods to launch an application or will find a class's main method and invoke that.
In all cases, the other applications open up their own JFrames, separate from my launcher (this is a good thing). The problem is that, in general, the other JFrames are set to EXIT_ON_CLOSE. This means that if the user closes the second window, everything will close.
Is there anyway to prevent this from happening? I'd like either a way to say that my JFrame is the only one that can exit the program when closed, or to say globally that JFrames can't exit on close, and then re-work my initial frame so that it is still able to exit.
Note that changing all the other applications so that they do not include the EXIT_ON_CLOSE line is not an option (several of the applications we have the right to use, but not the right to modify, for instance).
Any thoughts?

One of the applications is listening to window closing and is calling System.exit(0) itself, and is not using EXIT_ON_CLOSE as I previously thought. So I think that launching a new JVM may be the only option.... Any advice on how to do this? I'm a little stuck with the ProcessBuilder stuff above.

I guess I was thinking this as a process-oriented question (I had already been thinking of the "different JVM" tactic), but the other option was to think of it as a pure-swing problem, like your solution above. Guess I should have just cross-posted -- everyone loves that! ;-)

You just need to put a shortcut on your screen (Windows) or add Photoshop to the Dock (Mac). You can accomplish this in Windows by clicking Start, All Programs, and navigating to Adobe Photoshop, which may be a standalone program near the top of the list, or may be in a folder under Adobe or Adobe Photoshop; when you find it, click and hold with the right mouse button and drag to the desktop, then release and select create shortcut. For the Mac, you will need to open Finder, navigate to Applications and on to Adobe Photoshop, then drag the icon to the Dock.

Wow, sorry to hear of your experience. Seems strange that your disk would just eject like they did. It could be a lot of things but more than likely you just kind of have to start all over.
What I would do is insert your system disk and instead of going immediately to an install I would go to disk utility and erase the drive. That will erase everything on the disk and give you a new blank disk to start with. After that I would try to reinstall the system. Assuming that goes well then you should be restored to where it was when you purchased it. After that you can reinstall all your applications or personal files. I hope you have good backups.
I remember one time I was having a similar problem and don't ask my why I did it but I actually could not get it to install a system. I removed both of my ram sticks, shut the computer down for about 10 minutes including unplugging it from the wall plug, then reinstalled the ram, plugged it back in and started up from the system disk and all worked just fine. To this day I have no idea if pulling the ram helped but I have never had to do it since and for some dumb reason that solved the problem I was having, which is the same problem you are having now. Call it voodoo but it worked.

Windows internet connection with Time Capsule
I have recently installed an old version of Windows XP SP2 on my laptop using Bootcamp. It probably needs update. When I wanted to connect to the Internet using my Time Capsule, it didn't work. When I open wireless connections, it shows my TC with strong signal, but when I click "connect", I get the message something like "couldn't connect, you might be too far from device, refresh sources and try again". So far no luck if I unplug my TC and use LAN directly. Can I use TC as my wireless router in Windows mode? If yes, how can I set it up?
If I remove the ethernet cable and plug it straight into my iMac I have an immediate internet connection.
That is because your cable modem has "associated" with the iMac. You need for it to "forget" your iMac and "associate" with the Time Capsule. Here's how:
Completely power off the cable modem. This means pulling the power plug from the back of the modem or from the wall AC jack.
Power off every other device on the entire network. You can power them off in any order that you wish
Wait at least 15 minutes. Longer will not hurt at all.
Power up the cable modem and let it run for 2-3 minutes
Then, power up the Time Capsule the same way
Power up each network device one at a time about a minute apart
Check the network
If the Time Capsule still does not have an Internet connection, you will need to peform a Factory Default Reset on the device and then start the process above all over again. You will need to reconfigure the Time Capsule again, of course once everything is powered back up.

You cannot direct a single Copy Import operation from your card into multiple folders, but you can either import multiple times, selecting different photos each time from the Import grid, and specifying a different destination, or you can import everything into one folder, then use drag-and-drop in LR with different selections of photos into various folders you create within LR’s Library module folder panel. As long as you do the folder creating and photo moving within LR then LR will know where the photos have been moved to.
What I do is move the photos into multiple folders on the card, itself, outside of LR, using Explorer’s thumbnail previews to guide me, then drag-and-drop those folders to their final destination on my hard drive still outside of LR, then do an Add Import, by dragging and dropping those folders onto LR Library’s central area, so that’s another way. -

This is a MAJOR problem for me and anyone on the go. WHEN WILL THIS BE FIXED??? I will not hesitate to return this phone as im sure all TURBO users feel the same. Someone said the MOTO X was the same way... is it still...why hasn't then been fixed by now? Which now makes me wonder if this wasn't an oversight but something intentional. Why did they hide the fact that they knew this was going on? i should have been told that this capability wasn't available on the TURBO at time of purchase. FIX IT NOW!

Then you have had phones WITHOUT the capability of talk/surf at the same time. If you don't realize this, then you don't(or at least didn't) use it as often as you think. Original Droid didn't have this capability. Droid X didn't have this capability. Droid X2 didn't have this capability. For the most part(there may have been exceptions of which I am unaware), NO Verizon phone had this capability until 4G phones and then ONLY when on a 4G LTE signal. 4G phones on a 3G signal did not/do not have this capability.
