TouchUp Object Tool Help

I'm trying to fill out a job application, and the instructions say to go to Tools>Advanced Editing>TouchUp Object Tool to insert a picture of myself onto the application form.  That's all well and good, except I don't seem to have an Advanced Editing option at all.  It's not even a greyed out option under Tools on my Adobe Reader.  I wasn't sure I had the most current version, so I downloaded Reader 10 to be sure, but it's still not an option under Tools.  It is the free version, not the paid version of Reader.  Is that my problem?  Is there some other way to add my picture without the TouchUp tool?

Like Bernd mentioned, you need Acrobat to do that.
The good news is, if you only need it this one time, they offer a fully functional trial version (good for 30 days) on the Adobe website.

  • TouchUp Object Tool

    Hi Sir/Mdm,
I have a pdf file where all texts are created in image which I believe I cannot edit it. I tried to touch up it by using TouchUp Object Tool. When I right clicked to "edit image", my photoshop pops out with error opening the image. Pls help and advice if there are other options erasing the text or cut and paste functions. Really appreciate for any tips and help. Thank you.

  • Touchup Object tool not available to colleague with Acrobat 9

Is the TouchUp Object tool only available in Acrobat 9 Pro? A colleague who has Acrobat 9 Standard doesn't appear to have it in his Advanced Editing options. Is there something that can be done to make that option available? I looked at the comparison chart and it didn't indicate there was any difference.
    Thanks in advance.

It is not available in Acrobat Standard:

  • Touchup object tool will not load Photoshop

I am running Acrobat 7.0 Professional on Mac OS 10.4.11.  When I attempt to use the touchup object tool, Photoshop will not activate.  It is chosen as my touchup object tool in touchup preferences.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat and Creative Suite (my version is CS2).  The problem is unique to a single user on my Macintosh.  When I made a new account, it all works fine.  There must be a preference file or library file, etc. that is corrupted within my user account.  Has anyone encountered/solved this problem?

I've fixed similar problems by moving the Home> Library folder (and all contents) to the Desktop and renaming it Old Library. Then restart into the same account and OS X will build you a fresh Library folder with default folders and settings. See if the Acrobat/Photoshop problem is gone. If it is, then you can continue working, dragging over essential files from the Old library into the new (like saved workspaces, fonts, etc.) as needed.
I usually immediately replace the default Keychain with the one in my Old Library folder.
If anything goes glitchy, you can always replace the (New) Library with your old one and restart.

  • Help!  TouchUp Object tool erases my lines!!

I hope someone can help me figure this out.  I create a PDF with graphics and text.  I want to print pages with 4 images per page, then quarter-cut them to make flash cards.  In order to have the images centered correctly on all 4 cards, I have to maneuver the images (move the top 2 up a bit, move the bottom 2 down a bit, etc.).  I use TouchUp Object to select the top 2 images, and as soon as I move them, all the LINES on the images disappear!!
I converted from a PC to a Mac last year, and I used to do this all the time on the PC without this happening.   Am I doing something wrong?  Is this a BUG?
Very frustrating ... can't do my work!

Okay, I just spent 80 minutes on the phone with Adobe support ($39) and found out that you have to save the document to PDF with an option of High Quality.  If using a mac (snow leopard OSX v. 10.6.4) , when you save to PDF, you get a small pull-down window on the print screen and one of the first options that shows (at least on my screen) is "Save as PDF".  Further down on the list of options is "Save as Adobe PDF".  If you choose that second save option, you get a choice of a few options, one is "Adobe PDF Settings".  Choose "High Quality Print".  Takes care of the problem.

  • TouchUp Object Tool Error....

Some Object I open in illustrator then I Did Some Chenges,Then Objects Are Not Saving To The Same Place which there Was.All Objects are Jumping. I'm new to here can enyone please help me out.... ( Sorry For my Grammar)  I'm Using Acrobat 9 Pro And Adobe Illustrator CS5...

Does this happen every time you edit an object in Acrobat using Illustrator? Are you using Acrobat X and Illustrator CS6? When you open the PDF in Acrobat, go to File> Properties> description, What program created the PDF?
In Illustrator CS3, with nothing selected, you can go to Object> Crop Area> Release. As a diagnostic tool, try this: Go to Acrobat preferences> Touchup> Choose Page/Object editor and navigate to Illustrator CS3 in your Application folder. Open the PDF, edit your object, do an Object> Crop area> Release before saving. Does this fix the jumping issue? Unfortunately I don't know how you can do this in CS4 and above.
You could also try this (I give it a one in a hundred chance of working, but who knows) In Acrobat go to Tools> Print Production> Preflight> PDF/X compliance (convert to PDF/X-3), the idea is the PDF/X-3 specifications might not allow the object (probably some flavor of .eps) to have invisible crop marks and will remove them.
Your Illustrator preferences might be corrupt, but I think this is unlikely.
What happens if you try to re-edit the object (after it has jumped) and select and delete the crop marks? Do they re-appear?

  • Acrobat Pro 9.4 and Touchup Object Tool

Working on PDFs that were printed from AutoCAD. I am trying to select an  area to delete but it will not allow me to drag my selection box. . If I try to select a much larger area it will allow me to but this ends up selecting too much. This is not consistant either. I have done a couple of operations in the document (nothin specfic) and it will then allow me to select the small area. When I try to repeat the same thing again it won't allow me. I am running out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. It's interesting that this problem only manifests itself in certain applications. A friend installed a program called CuteWriterPDF and the applications that I was having difficulty with writing PDF files are taken care of perfectly with this small program. It was just an experiment but it worked. This is not a perfect fix as I would prefer a solution from Adobe but at least I'm back up and running.
Thanks much for taking the time to reply!

  • Acrobat 7 - Illustrator CS2 - Touchup-Object - Save-Failure

    Hello!
We use Acrobat 7 in combination with Illustrator CS2. All applications got the latest updates installed.
Now, an pdf-document is openend in acrobat. In this document are letters as objects. We now open one of this letters with the touchup-object-tool in Illustrator CS2. After the changes are made, we save this changes but in the pdf-document, nothing changed, it is still the old version.
We tried it with a trial of Acrobat 8 and in this all went fine. Could it be a problem of Acrobat 7 and Illustrator CS2.
    Regards
    Chris

The same thing will happen, on occasion, in Acrobat 8 (and probably 9). It is a question of refresh time and the Temp file finding the original to correct. It seems less prone when using Photoshop to edit an image in a PDF, although I have noticed some "lag time" between the temp file and the original.
One trick is to save the Illustrator/PDF temp file under a similar name (you cannot overwrite the original PDF when it is still open). Then just substitute the old file for the new file. Make a copy of your work before trying this method, just to be sure.

  • Acrobat 9.5 - use Touchup text Tool to edit PDF. Updates do not display. But, if I "save as" Word doc, the edits appear in Word. This feature worked in earlier versions of 9.x patches.

I have a suspicion you're working with a scanned document that has had OCR run to recognize the text. The recognized text may be stored on an invisible layer above the image of the text, and that is what you're toucing up. It's invisible, so you don't see it, but retains the changes, so exporting produces the new edits.
When you run OCR to recognize scanned text,, try using the ClearScan option, instead of Searchable Text. See this help page on Acrobat (this is for version X, but still applies):

  • For Acrobat 9. TouchUp Text tool does not work.

Acrobat 9. TouchUp text tool does not work --- even on documents created with my computer using installed fonts. Problem 2: when trying to export to Word 2010 there is no option for format .dox, only .doc which belonged to earlier versions of Word.

    Hi Begin,
I have the same issue, I am not sure which version so I had on my old computer but when I got a new windows 7 64bit, and asked IT to install Adobe, my life turned upside down. now they asked if I need X or 9pro and I though 9pro is the latest and greatest.. they installed the standard first then could not edit then asked for the pro and could not edit ... now I search and maybe version X will edit but if the document is signed and we do need to do lots of editing after the signature then what is the solution??
I hope the Guru in Adobe can help here soon please :-)!!

  • Report Writer - Converting from MS Access to Business Objects Tools

In 2008, my company migrated to SAP.  Security has forced all report writing to use business objects (specifically WEBI); however, WEBI is very very difficult to use.  The data in the universe doesn't always match what SAP has and the tool itself doesn't give the robust manipulation that Access does.  I have tried to tell the company I need access to the universes through MS Access in order to create the reports automatically and allow interactive databases; however they refuse to give me ODBC access (against policy).  Right now I have no alternative but to do daily downloads from SAP in order to feed my robust databases.
Can anyone suggest what business object tool I should use that will replicate what MS Access does for me?
Easy report writing with robust design (including charts)
Easy front-end tool for end users
    One to many relationships needed
Efficient/Automatic (no need for daily downloads)
End users can interact with reports (enter data for later analysis)
What about Crystal Reports?  What are the limitations and can it do what MS Access does for me today?
Should I be posting this question in another forum?

    Hi Amy,
CR 2008 is the complimentary version of CR Designer when connecting to BOE 3.1. You can get an update to Service Pack 3 and then possible SP 4:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007123572010E/cr2008_sp3.exe
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100008782452011E/cr2008sp4.exe
But before you do that check with the BOE admin, SP's should match also but not required.
They should work together, When you use the Report Wizard you'll see an option to connect to Enterprise and then log in using your User account and then the Repository will have the Universes available. Remember this is all set up by the Administrator so you will need the Admin person to grant you access to the Repository as well as anything else you need access to. Once you create the report then you can Publish them to your folder or a common folder and the Admin can then share your reports.
WEBI is what the name implies, it's a WEB interface to allow you to create reports using it's Report Wizard. It does take some getting used to and you should have training available, check with your admin group again. Same as CRD, it tool allows you to create reports but is much more flexible than WEBI is in a few ways but once you understand how WEBI works it has some very powerful tools also.
CR allows you to access any database field you have permission to see, it fully supports database permissions. So if you can't see them again you have to ask your DBA to grant you permissions. You can then link tables including your late entry table if it is separate or simply hitting the refresh button in the viewer will requery the DB for new rows of data. All depends on how it's set up.
As for security, this is a decision your company has made. SAP is just a tool that allows you to be secure. With today's security threats and other privacy laws and hackers abilities to get to and cause personal harm to those affected it's just the way things are these days. Take this up with your Management, it's not something we can decide for you and certainly can't provide you with ways to circumvent the security.....
There is training available for both WEBI and CR as well as third party Help for books available. Downloading the sample reports is a great place to start, you can switch between Design and preview mode and see what happens when you make changes....
    Thanks again
    Don

  • Is there an Object Repository Helper in XI 3.1?

Is there an Object Repository Helper administrative tool in 3.1? What about some of the other XI R2 administrative tools like instance manager, etc? I could only find Query Builder.
I can't see how one can refresh all CMC reports with updated repository objects without the Object Repository Helper? It will be painful to refresh each report one by one in the CMC.
    Thanks.

Anybody facing similar need to update all reports with updated repository object and would not want to do it one report at a time via CMC?  Any tools in XI 3.1 similar to Object Repository Helper?
    Thanks.

  • TouchUp Text Tool not working?

I have Max OS X 10.4, Acrobat 8.1.2 and cannot get the TouchUp Text Tool to work? Can select text and delete/copy/paste etc but cannot add/change/modify any text from the keyboard? All keyboard text keys not working or changing data?
Was using Acrobat 7 and it worked great, however this version is just not cooperating.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
    Thanks,
    Ron

I talked to a very helpful person at Adobe Acrobat Tech support yesterday (Tony) and I *think* I have the problem resolved. [BTW, I don't see any definite mentions to this here: during this problem I was able to delete (using either of the delete keys) text and I was able to hit 'return' to get to a new line - while using the touch-up text tool. Also, I was able to create a new blank document and type in next fine too.]
After troubleshooting all the possible causes with Tech support (including manually trashing all the /user/library/preferences/acrobat (folder) and all the com.adobe.acrobat ..(8) preferences in the /user/library/preferences folder - and after reinstalling Acrobat 8 - the issue still wasn't fixed. I called back Tech Support and got the same person (Tony) and with him still on phone, I created a new user on my Mac -- recreated the text touch-up tool problem and Acrobat 8 worked just like it was supposed to do. -- so ... the problem was in my 'old' user account & probably a font problem.
Tony the Tech transfered me over to a Font Tech at Adobe (who was a rude, nasty s-o-b who barely spent 2 minutes with the problem, but that's IMHO) who told me the only resolution, since in his opinion I had a corrupted User account, was to trash my current User account on my system and start fresh -- no alternative! Since that wasn't acceptable to me, and since the Font Tech could or would not give me a straight answer about transferring fonts from my User/Library/Fonts to the computer (root, not system) /Library/Fonts and working on Acrobat that way .... or fixing any font problems in my current /user/fonts -- ..... I hung up the phone and resolved to track this down myself (with the help that was already given to me by Tony the Acrobat Tech.
The first thing I tried this morning was to see if the Acrobat 8 text touch-up 'bug' was still happening -- and it was.
So I spent the rest of this morning validating fonts and deleting duplicates -- (you know how those nasty duplicate fonts just appear even though you think you have them all removed a month or so ago). I also moved all my Adobe otf fonts over to my /Library/Fonts and deleted those same fonts from my /User/Library/Fonts.
I just fired up Acrobat 8 and tried the text touch-up tool --- and it works fine! No problem at all.
Final answer (at least for me) is --> validate all your fonts. I used Font Book (Mac OS) to do this. Delete any major errors on fonts you can live without. Some of the warnings you get (on the critical errors and caution warning both are confusing: 'name' table warning, for example. I did find an Apple Developer document that explains (to a small degree) what these mean: http://developer.apple.com/textfonts/TTRefMan/index.html
Definitely delete every duplicate font you find. I kept some non-duplicated fonts with minor warnings, but these fonts wouldn't be used in Acrobat anyway.
I don't know if moving the Adobe otf fonts to my root /Library/Fonts helped or not since I didn't do a test of this prior to any validation on my user/font file. It was just one step in my bug fix.
Let me know if this works for you all too.
