TPT2 System update problem after Windows 10 clean install

Hello, Today I did clean install of Windows 10 on my Thinkpad tablet 2. Chose "keep nothing" to have fresh new Windows. Then Installed newest ThinkVantage System update app. Hoewever when I tried to search for drivers with this app it failed and I got a messege "There are no applicable packages found for your system". Anyone know how can I solve this problem? Thanks in advance, CR

... just open a command line window ("cmd.exe") with administrative priveliges and run the command "powercfg -sleepstudy". This generates a powercfg-HTML-Report in the "Windows\System32" folder where you can drill down the cause for power draining in connected standby mode. Typically WLAN / Bluetooth driver cause the problems - or applications that run with massive CPU-usage in the background. Are you still logged in into WIndows when you turn off the tablet? Then frist try to lock out of Windows and enter the connected standby mode. Then analyse with the powercfg tool. Afterwards repeat this procedure with your logged in WIndows account. With this approach you can compare the basic windows power drain with the power drain including app usage. Good luck! Bernd

Touch screen on steam 11 x360 not working after windows 10 clean install

I did a clean install of windows 10 on my HP stream 11 x360, and now the touch screen won't work. Under system it says "no pen or touch input", and there is no touch screen driver listed under HID in the divice manager. It worked when windows 8.1 was installed, and it still works in the BIOS. try installing the windows 8.1 driver for your touch screen maybe?i had to install the win 8.1 wi-fi driver because the win 10 default was awful, and it worked (and still works) perfectly.

Restore shipped applications after Windows 8 clean install

I am considering upgrading to Windows 8 by doing a clean install but would like to use some of the pre-installed applications, PowerGo, PowerDVD10 and PowerCinema that came with the A720.
Anyone had any success in reinstalling / recovering any of the applications that shipped with the Windows 7 version of the A720?
I am intending to call Lenovo Support to ask for a backup disk for these applications, has this worked for anyone else?

Reading the Windows 8 upgrade instructions they recommend that you conduct a clean install

Fingerprint reader problem on windows 7 clean install:- good images, combination failed

this is my first post here. I have a clean install of 32 bit win 7 and everything is working fine apart from the fingerprint reader. When I go through the fingerprint enrollment software, I swipe my finger 3 times, getting a confirmation each time with the message "good image. After this I get a 'combination failed' error. Could you help me to get this to work?
I have drivers installed by TVSU 4.0 and the biometric device is recognized and installed in devices as Authetec AES 2810.
I have already tried deleting fingerprint info in BIOS.

However, the software for windows 8 may not work because of some issue from lenovo itself. So you can always use the onse for windows 7 if required. Test the windows 8 software first though.

Internet Loss and Limited Windows Functionality After Windows 7 Clean Install

Hello all,
here is a bit of context. I had an extra Lenovo T410 sitting around so I wanted to restore it to its "factory state" by performing a "format boot". Plan was to boot from CD drive and reinstall Windows 7 (32 bit) during the process. However, disaster, after the process finished I am now stuck in some sort of safe mode (everything is larger than usual) and the computer is missing several drivers. I installed the network adapter driver manually (can identify networks but can't connect to internet). Device manager still lists Base System Device, Ethernet Controller, PCI Serial Port, PCI Simple Communications Controller, and Unknown Device drivers to be out of date.
My objectives here are to 1) restore connectivity to internet and 2) get Windows 7 Home Premium to full functionality.

in this situation try following:
open registry:
HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Software\Lenovo\System Update\Preferences\UCSettings\RunTime
check if the informations are correct.
In case not, then correct them.
- Try to run TVSU as Administrator (right-click on it and select Run as Administrator)
In case this will be of no use, then just go into the install folder of TVSU and there you will see the folder called "Logs". In there you will for sure find the exact information on what went wrong. Perhaps some proxy config, or just the server was unavailable.

I have a Y50-70 and have upgraded to Windows 10. Everything seems to be working ok, but I noticed there are a collection of drivers on the download page for this prodcut. It seems like the drivers for a number of these things was upgraded to a newer Windows 10 version as part of the upgrade, but these are Microwoft drivers. Do I need to install these Lenovo drivers? For example, there audio driver on my machine is now a version 10.x from Microsoft. The one on the download page is listed as specifically for Windows 10 but is version 6.x (probably a Lenovo version). It has always striked me odd that a computer owner needs to monitor these drivers manually. It seems to me something akin to "Windows Update" should be watching over the drivers for us. Perhaps even Windows Updat itself with the vendors sending in their drivers, or addresses to the drivers for Update to send out. thanks!

From what I understand with Windows 10, and please any pros out there can correct me if I am wrong, but Windows now will automatically update the drivers and if you choose to install a different driver, it will re-install the windows driver. This has been a big bone of contention with the NVidia drivers since NVidia wants to control their drivers through its own interface (GE Force Experience), but Windows 10 keeps overwriting any driver one tries to instal from a 3rd party. I believe the only exception would be if Microsoft does not have a driver for said hardware or feature. There is supposedly a short term workaround and supposedly a feature called "slow ring" or something like that to allow you an option to receive automatic updates at a later date than they are normaly pushed. Windows 10 has supposedly done away of User Options concerning updates, which is a problem in my opinion. http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2015/07/25/windows-10-automatic-update-problems/ Another Windows 10 potential problem is WiFi Sense which stores your WiFi password on a Microsoft server and all of your contacts from Outlook to Facebook and beyond can also have access to YOUR network IF they happen to be within range of your network. I'm not sure if this answered you question fully but Microsoft has confirmed that if you change driver updates, Win 10 will just update it again using what Windows believes you should use. Before I realised the solutions, I thought that maybe my Laptop had become infected with a Virus and decided it would be prudent to do a clean install of the Windows XP operating system.
Everything went perfectly and thought a clean install was a good opportunity to download the “XP Service Pack 3” SP3 and did so, it seemed very quiet though and that’s when I realised I had no sound…
I downloaded all of the sound drivers I could find on the Lenovo site for 3000 N100 (I knew from previous experience that the “SOUNDMAX” driver is the only one that actually works with this 3000 N100) in order to install this you have to install the Realtek HD audio driver, but in order to install that you have to install some other Driver/Soft that only works with SP1 or SP2 if you try to install it with SP3 it will say that you don’t need the file as your Service pack is newer than the file you want to install, this is understandable as SP3 is not final as of yet (but it’s good to know).
My next problem was that my extra RAM was not detected, this was fixed by updating the BIOS, after installing all of the System updates, PC Doctor, everything I could find for 3000 N100 I decided to rest, I pushed the Lenovo care button and it did not work, I found a hot key driver and installed it but still the Lenovo care button does not work, previously when I pushed this button it would bring up the Lenovo menu but now it’s just a dead button, Does anyone know how to get this button working again?
I am pretty sure that everything else is working fine now, just that button not working is very annoying, is there a set routing of installs you must do to get everything working, i.e. bios 1st audio 2nd system update 3rd etc...

Ok first everything works now... except the Lenovo Care button, I just posted the other stuff cause it might help other members, I have searched the forum for an anwser to this problem but there was only one anwser (suggesting to uninstall the driver restart and re-install it) and it did not result in a working Lenovo Care button...
I don't beleive the Lenovo keyboad drivers are in any way related to the Service pack 3 as they do not use the Service pack files, to back this up I also had the same problem when Service Pack 2 was installed...
The Lenovo Care button works fine on Boot up screen to access the rescue and recovery software (So the mechanics of the button are fine) but once Windows XP loads it is just a dead button, I remember it used to open up the Lenovo Care Start bar, I got it working once in the past but I can't remember what I did, I thought someone here might know the anwser...

Compaq Presario CQ62 DVD not working after Windows 7 automatic install of upgrades

The DVD in my Compaq CQ62 stopped working after Windows 7 automatically installed updates. The driver seems to be corrupted. When I open Device Manager, the DVD comes up as hp DVD RW AD-7701H SATA CdRom Device and the device status displays...A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32).. There are two drivers installed--cdrom.sys from Microsoft, File Version 6.1.7600.16385(win7_rtm.090713-1255) and PxHlpa64.sys File Version 2.03.32a from Sonic Solutions. If anyone knows the link to download the new driver or how to resolve this problem please let me know.

We are not sure what might have caused this issue. You may try removing the affected filter drivers and check. This has helped few.
To do this, follow these steps:
1. Click Start , type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
2. Locate, and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Caution There can be many instances of the registry subkey that is mentioned in step 2. You must make sure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the UpperFilters and the LowerFilters values. 3. In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters, and then click Delete.

I have only a few programs that I will have to install myself and that should not be a problem.
I just want my data, music and photos back where I can use them.

Time machine backups. I went to migration assistant a few hours ago and limited my selection to "users", no need for applications, settings and other files. Stuff started moving over at a fast pace but has now seemed to stall.
I will let it run overnight as there are lots of songs and photos as well as a few movies.
If that does not work, then I will go into TM and try restore. I have restored some things in the past such a mail files and it has worked well.
The Apple fellow at the store told me to go right into TM, he may have had a point. I'll get it eventually.

After performing a clean install, is my startup disk correct for apple stock 1TB fusion hard drive? I think I may have to reformat.

After performing a clean install on a stock apple 1TB fusion Hard Drive it appears as things got reversed and showing my startup as not using the SSD portion. The SSD portion of the fusion drive used to be on top in disk utility, now its on the bottom. It also appears that I have to many partitions. Im thinking i need to reformat my Hard Drive again. According to your descriptioin, I don't think this is system problem, it should be Intel driver problem. It would be contact Intel to confirm this issue whether this is their driver problem.

Hello everybody!, I've upgraded this morning my windows 8.1 to windows 10, everything went smooth, except I can't play games anymore, I tried to reinstall nvidia drivers, but still nothig, oh and I'm able to play some games with veryyy low fps, I presume they are launching with intel graphic card and not the dedicated one "Geforce". No idea what to do! Requesting Help!

Reinstalled Windows 10 from usb "clean install".
Still games start with Intel Graphics card ,even changing them at nvidia control panel to launch with nvidia doesn't help

Somehow everything started to work on its own, maybe there was some kind of download on the background of windows, and before formating to windows 8 back, I decided to restart windows few times, and everything got fixed.

So I suggest you to do every possible update on windows and 10 do few restarts, there are some background updates that we can't track probably, so let them settle and restart pc.

I did all the things you suggested & it is running much better! After that, in doing the permissions repair with Disk Utility there were some to repair initially, but in running again there were none to repair.
Font Book validate initially showed several fonts with major problems but after restoring fonts & doing the start up in Safe Mode & restarting, there were no major errors but still 9 with minor problems.
Are there additional things that I should now do?

In running Activity Monitor, under Real Memory kernel_task initially was 1.81 GB, then dropped to 430.4 MB but now when I open it was showing 1.28 GB but is up to 1.30 now. Maybe the following will help.
