TPwrMain.exe where the heck did this come from

Suddenly on strt up, I started getting a TPwrMain.exe failed to initialize.  First off, I've never used this ever, I use windows power saver, the other thing iswhen I plug anything into the USB port, it doesnt recognize it, as far as a flag in the task bar.  I can go to computer  and see it there.  I can access it as long as its not my camera.  I will admit, I plugged in a flash drive which had a U3 Cruzer on it.  after this everything went crazy.  I tried a restore from a week before and things got worse,  I've scanned with avira, and malware bytes, to no avail.  I'd like to get this tpwermain of the computer anyway, but cant find it to remove it, and contacting toshiba support is a lesson in futility.  BTW  its a L355-A7915 with Vista.
Please help  and remember I'm not an IT expert

  • Self Assigned IP Address, wher the heck did that come from?????

Getting flipping well annoyed with this 10.4 software release! Come on Apple say something find the fix. The problem started with 10.4.4 EVERYTHING was working fine prior to installing, Wifes imac on airport, me on my G5 chatting happily away, the reason I purchased the .mac accounts and the iSights. After 10.4.4 came the problem of the iMac getting an IP address of 10.0.1.x from the airport and no longer able to connect to the internet. So I powered off the airport and connected the ethernet from the Zoom ADSL router direct, and the iMac claims there is a "self assigned IP address" on the Ethernet, which is not true, the machine uses DHCP, rebooted so many times (Windows funnily enough never needed as many reboots as OSX Tiger! and now seems like a better choice if truth be told) and everytime this self assigned IP address appears. Now if I connect my PB to the same cable I get 10.0.0.x and no problem with the internet connection. Settings are IDENTICAL, I even cloned my PB and booted the iMac from the clone and STILL we get "Self Assigned IP Address" on the iMac!
Does anyone have any idea how to stop the self assigned ip address problem?

Powered off the Zoom DSL modem for an hour or so, and
now it all works fine, got this Gem of info from ther
Macosxhints website, a mighty fine site it is as
    well. Regards Kev
Does not solve the problem for me. I'm sitting in a motel with a wireless net. I can connect to the Red Carpet network, with a strong signal, but Safari says I'm not connected to the internet. Network status gives me the same dumb "self-assigned" error. TCP/IP is set for DHCP. Since it's not my base station, I can't just go and recycle it. It did work once, but I haven't been able to reconnect. I've tweaked the connection multiple ways, rebooted multiple times, etc. etc. etc.
So what gives, and what can I do.

  • How the heck did this guy draw with his pencil 3d extruded?

In the following video Mr. Smith first extrudes some text. Then about 40 seconds in he takes his pencil and draws a line and it's automatically extruded. How the heck did he do that? It looks like it's extruded just as soon as he releases his click. Am I just missing that he's doing "shift-control-e" to apply the same 3d effect immediately to his line? Sure seems like he didn't have to do that.. I can see in the Appearance panel that there is "no selection", but that 3d extrude effect is shown there.

Understand also: Effects (including 3D Effect) can be applied at the Group or Layer level; not only at the object level. So you can "draw into" a Group in Isolation Mode or "draw onto" a Layer that has 3D Effect applied. In that way, When you do, the various objects you draw not only have the same 3D Effect, but share the same 3D Effect; so they share the same perspective.

  • US Flag / Character palette??  Where did this come from?

I noticed the other day that I have a US flag symbol up at the top of my screen, in between the volume icon and the symbol for the battery indicator, right next to the clock. When I click on it, I can't find any info about the program. When clicked, it has three options:
    "Show Character Palette"
    "Show/Hide Input Source Name"
    "International"
What is this program, is it needed, and how did it get up there, and how do I remove it from showing?
    Thanks.

Before you remove the item as per jtcluck's instructions, and while in the International pane of System Preferences, try clicking on the Keyboard Viewer checkbox on the Input Menu tab. This will add a "Show Keyboard Viewer" item on the menu when you click on the flag.
What is this good for? It opens up a tiny image of your keyboard, showing where each character is located. Especially useful for locating characters that require typing several keys at once (like this: € ).
In the old MacOS 9 and in the Windows worlds, this feature used to be called Key Caps. Having easy access to this utility is the only reason why I keep the flag on the menu.

I see that. I'm wondering why I'm only getting it now. I didn't install it intentially; it was included in my most recent upgrade. Why wasn't it included in previous upgrades?

  • Where did this come from?

I just opened iTunes, and in the index on the lefthand side where I can choose from "Purchased Music," "Library," and various playlists a random playlist has appeared called "LC is a ****." What is this? It has thousands of sonds in it, and I have no clue what is going on. Why is this here? Is it a virus or something? How do I get rid of it?
    Please help!! Thanks!

It sounds like your are viewing someones shared playlist that is on your network.
Go to iTunes preferences (not sure which tab it is under because I'm not in front of an iTunes equipped puter right now, but there might be a share tab) and turn off "look for shared playlist" and/or turn off sharing completely.
    Hope this helps.

  • Growl app--Where did this come from?

I just got a message that there's an update to Growl available. I never heard of it. Was this installed originally with the system? I see it has something to do with notifications, but I never knowingly installed it. Any reason to not uninstall it?
    Thanks.

    Thank you, sir, much appreciated!
Odd, tho. Growl is not in my list of applications. Searching in that Search thingy in upper right of folder window reveals nothing, searching in Spotlight only opens Sys Prefs and there under the General tab was a clickable Start/Stop button and beside it it said "Growl is running". So I clicked and stopped it. So it must exist, right?
Also the Go function couldn't find it. So how could it be running but not found and where is it hiding?
I appreciate the url but I can't find it to delete it according to the method presented.

Maybe you hit the M key which toggles between view Master or Version?

  • Does exist a tool to discover where the unknown data traffic come from?

I realized a lot of people experience Unknown data exchange without reason with all notification off with no localization with no push mail all accounts setted on manual and with no application running in background. There are people with a very big amount of unkown traffic but also people with a small amount of traffic like around 10kb every 5 minutes or maybe even less sometimes.Anyway is very strange i start to have this problem since i upgraded to 4.2.1 and i still have with no application installed without charging a back up just with the iphone as you take out from the box for the first time.
Just few kb are not a problem for me since i have a huge dataplan but is strange this exchange of data i found all the 4.2.1 of my friends have this problem instead all the old firmware doesn't have this problem.
I'm scared apple with this last firmware maybe is able to get private informations from iphone users.
I know exist an application called dataman but is not useful in my opinion for what we are looking for cause it tell you just the amount of data you used but not the details of the connections.Would be great if some one would be able to find the recent log to internet with the details...
    I hope so!
    Thank you for your collaboration!

  • Create new mailboxes but where the heck are they?

I am so frustrated I want to switch back to Windows. I am using the new mail feature of Lion and everytime I create a new mailbox, it tells me it's going to create the mailbox in "on my mac" location. But where the heck is this location? Why can't the folder or the mailbox just be created in the right pane of mail. Why do have bury my mailbox I created in some multilayer almagom simply because they don't want me to work in the way I am use to. Stop being so Big Brother Apple, this really really is awful.

OK I solved this myself as I found that it was hidden in the new mail and I just had to switch it show

there is a bunch of music in my library under "purchased" that I did not purchase. where does this come from?

It is possible you accidently added these songs to it. Even though the Purchased playlist is kind of a smart playlist you can still drag and drop songs from your library into it.

    Roger,
The icon is +Sections, not just Sections, as in "Add a Section". When you click that icon you get a section break and and a new section template, complete with preformatted text called placeholder text. The reason "Lorem ipsum" is there is so you can see what the format looks like. The reason that it is Latin gibberish is so you won't get hung up on, or distracted by, what it says. It's just a display of format. Select the "Lorem ipsum" text and start typing your content.
