Trac kPad Chaos!!!!!!

Hello,
I need some serious help! This whole situation is weird, I'll do my best to explain.
It started a few weeks ago, when I noticed that while using my trackpad, it would sometimes go ahead and click on a button or link, in any program, even though I did not click. I made sure that the "tap clicking" was disabled, and it was. Sometimes if I just put the mouse pointer over a button and took my hand off the trackpad completely, I could sit there and literally watch it click on the button for me within a few seconds of me placing the pointer there. This was rather annoying and resulted in many blank emails sent, etc.
Today the situaton got MUCH worse, and I assume it is related. I was out all day and I came back and opened the computer up from sleep. The desktop and everything came up fine, but when I moved the mouse around, the pointer would be creating this "drag box" on the desktop, and no amount of clicking would make it go away. It seemed like it was permanently clicking down or something. When I went over the dock, the dock wouldn't move and I couldn't click any icons or file menus. I plugged in my external mouse and it did the same, although I found that if I used the right click button on my external mouse, I could kind of navigate around and it would respond to commands, opening programs and such, but not all of them. For example, it was impossible to close any windows once I had them open.
So far I've tried restarting, powering off completely, repairing premissions and even resetting the PMU. NONE have worked. Sometimes after a restart, it would be fine for a minute or two then it would start doing it again. I'm pretty sure that for somereason the computer is thinking that I'm just holding down the mouse button, regardless of whether I'm using the trackpad or my external mouse. Is this software or hardware? Any suggestions?!?
Thanks
Organbritt

organbritt:
My guess is that you have a corrupted .plist, although there is no specific trackpad .plist. I suggest that you go to Home > Library > Preferences. Locate the file com.apple.systempreferences.plist and drag it to the desktop and restart. The computer will create a new .plist. See if that remedies the situation. When you are satisfied everyting is working to your satisfaction, you can drag the file to the Trash and empty the Trash.

  • Fix your trackpad!

Many of you have noticed the trackpad problems. If you have not resolved the issue then here is a quick fix. I took a half of a post it note, folded it a couple times and put it on the track pad under the batt. and viola! Works like a charm.
    Try it!
Here are the directions: http://ibloggedthis.com/2006/06/29/an-origami-solution-to-the-apple-macbook-trac kpad-squishy-button-problem/

If that's the case, you should return the phone to your carrier for a replacement. This is assuming that it's newer than one year old. If you choose to do so, make sure you do a data backup with BlackBerry Desktop Software first. If it's older than one year, wearing cloth bandages might be the answer.
    Please keep us posted.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • The trackpad button

does anyone know how to maybe take the button out or maybe be able to clean underneath it? i think there might be a bunch of crap under the button on the one side and it makes a stiff click everytime i try to click it.

I have a White MacBook (4,1, pre-Unibody) that exhibited the same problem. On the Internet I found this:
    http://ibloggedthis.com/2006/06/29/an-origami-solution-to-the-apple-macbook-trac kpad-squishy-button-problem/
I thought it a little odd that origami would be in the title, but that's why I read it. If your MacBook is one with a removable battery, take a look at it.
But here's my solution, culled from one of the responses on the referenced site.
Unplug the MacBook, turn it over over and remove the battery.
Directly under the trackpad button, you'll see a small grey circular button, about the size of the tip of your little finger.
Now I know this is going to sound odd, but take a finger size bandaid and place the gauze portion over the button, adhering the adhesive wings on wither side.
For me, it restored the button to original, even on a 2008 MacBook.

  • Fraudelent charge for Gameloft "Order & Chaos Online"!

I received an e-mail that this morning that I had purchased an app called "Order & Chaos© Online" for $6.99 and two in-app purchases for $14.99 each! I haven´t installed this on either my iPhone or my iPad so obviously my account must have been compromised.
I immediately changed my password and contacted both Apple (for a refund for the app) and the developer Gameloft (for a refund for the in-app content).
I have not heard from Apple yet but Gameloft was very unaccommodating. They answered that it was my "responsibility to keep your accounts safe, not ours" and that there was "no trace of any purchase" and that I should "speak to Apple and ask for more information about the purchase because our system isnt showing any purchase on your mail account".
I even attached a screenshot of the purchase in iTunes but still that wasn´t enough. I know that it is my responsibility to protect my accounts, but if someone despite this use it illegally I had hoped that the developer would be more helpful in making sure their products weren't bought with stolen money?
I also find it odd that they can't see the transactions if they were made from my iTunes account (I also included the order number shown)? I don't have any other records except this, and ~$40 missing.
I have read on these forums similiar incidents. Should I do anything else except wait for Apple to replay?

I contacted Apple and was pleasantly surprised when the helped me refund the total sum that had been charged! Very smooth and friendly response, and it only ttok a matter of days! Really impressive actually.
I also contacted the developer Gameloft but only received a very unhelpful answer. One of their Customer Care Representative replied:
It is your responsibility to keep your accounts safe, not ours.
And there is no trace of any purchase. I suggest you speak to Apple and ask for more information about the purchase because our system isnt showing any purchase on your mail account.
    Not very helpful at all.

  • How to trace an 'order by' issue?

I'm working with Report Builder 6.0.8.25.0. I have a report that prints lines on a quote. The report is supposed to order by the line_id in one of the tables involved. The problem is that sometimes it sorts in ascending and sometimes in descending order. I can see the bad sort in the report previewer and after moving the report to the server and running it through the Sales Online module in 11.5.9.
I have spent quite a lot of time trying to figure out where the bad sort is coming from but have thus far failed to identify the culprit.
Is there a way to trace the report while it's running in the report previewer to identify what forces are acting on the sort?
    -Tracy

    Hi Tracy,
the column attribute >>group by<< take precedence of the >>order by<< in the sql statement when you have more than one group in data model and the group is a control group.
    1. Example:
    a. SELECT deptno, ename ORDER BY deptno ASCENDING;
    b. deptno + ename are both in group --> Group_1
    c. depotno --> column attribute >>group by<< = DESCENDING
    d. DESCENDING has no effect!
    Deptno Ename
    10---- JAMES
    10---- TURNER
    10---- ALLEN
    10---- BLAKE
    20---- SMITH
    20---- ADAMS
    20---- JONES
    30---- MILLER
    30---- CLARK
    30---- KING
    2. Example:
    a. SELECT car_no, colour_no FROM cars ORDER BY cars_no ASCENDING;
    b. Group_1 --> car_no --> attribute >>group by<< --> DESCENDING
    c. Group_2 --> colour_no --> attribute >>group by<< --> ASCENDING
    d. b. having priority of b.
    e. c. has no effect!
    car_no colour_no
    51450- 4
    51450- 3
    51450- 2
    51450- 1
    26337- 4
    26337- 3
    26337- 2
    26337- 1
    8021-- 4
    8021-- 3
    8021-- 2
    8021-- 1
Now, when you would like to see colour_no in an ASCENDING order, you must change the order by clause in your sql statement as follows:
    SELECT car_no, colour_no FROM cars ORDER BY colour_no ASCENDING;
    car_no colour_no
    51450- 1
    51450- 2
    51450- 3
    51450- 4
    26337- 1
    26337- 2
    26337- 3
    26337- 4
    8021-- 1
    8021-- 2
    8021-- 3
    8021-- 4
Know, that the arrows to the left of the column only belongs to the attribute changes. It do not show you the ORDER BY sequence of the sql statement.
    regards,
    Tom

  • How can I trace just the lines of a hand drawn sketch.

    Hello everyone,
I'm sorry its another inexperienced Ai user here.
I have been using photoshop for a good while now but have only just started to use illustraotr and I could do with some help.
I have a bunch of simple black and white illustations, which I want to vectorise and arrange and compile into completed picture and patterns in Illustrator.  I have tried using the image trace function of CS6 and it gives great results but I always end up with a white box behind the illustration.  I dont seem to be able to work out how to select just the outline and have a transparent background so that I can work with the differnet bits to creat a completed picture.
Idealy i will have each individual illustraiton on a seperate layer initially as I build up a picture then I will flattern it all togehter at the end.
Sorry if this sounds a trivial matter but any help would be greatly recived.
    H

I use sketches a bunch. I love the fact that I can draw on paper, scan my sketch, and finish it with illustrator. The first thing I do when I open up the file is lock it down and creat a new layer. Make sure the new layer is on top of the locked layer(the layer that has you sketch). I use 3 different ways of re-creating my sketch. The first is by using the shapes and shapes builder tools. Add in pathfinder here and there and depending on your design, you could complete a whole sketch with this method alone. For more complex drawings I use the pen tool, this is great for making precise shapes and building composition. One note when using the pen tool is to make sure you have a color and stroke ready when you start using the pen tool, also after you make your first click or anchor with the pen tool set the opacity to around 50%. Another option that I use is to use brushes to create the strokes, and then join or combine the strokes and use live paint or just fill them in as I go. Whichever method you use, lock down the sketch so you can't select it. Make sure that the image of your sketch has good contrast and color before you start. If you have to use Photoshop to touch it up and then bring it in to Illustrator. I also make sketches and then make the basic compsition with illustrator and progressively build the design. Just a thought for those who don't have scanners or don't want to mess with a scanning a design. Hope some of this helps.

  • No longer boots since update [kinit & call trace troubles]

    Hi all,
Recently I did a full system upgrade on a completely working system (running I assume was a 2.6.28 kernel26) that upgraded it to 2.6.29. It then stopped booting correctly. I left this for a while since I didn't have the time for messing around with it. Today I got back to it, used live cd, chrooted and did a full system update (to a 2.6.30 kernel) hoping it may have fixed it. No such luck.
Here is the error portion of the boot up/init:
    Waiting 10 seconds for device /dev/sda3 ...
Root device '/dev/sda3' doesn't exist, attempting to create it
    /bin/mknod /dev/root b 8 3

My mkinitcpio.conf is untouched, as are the files in mkinitcpio.d.
    My FS is as follows:
    /dev/sda1 - ext2 - /boot
    /dev/sda2 - swap
    /dev/sda3 - ext3 - /
    /dev/sda4 - ext3 - /home
    My menu.1st for grub is:
    # (0) Arch Linux
    title Arch Linux
    root (hd0,0)
    kernel /vmlinuz26 rootfstype=ext3 root=/dev/sda3 vga=791 ro
    initrd /kernel26.img
The bizare thing is, if I change to root=/dev/sda4, I don't get 'root device doesn't exist etc etc etc' and it mounts it fine with no errors and then kinit drops to a recovery console instead of panicing.
I am not sure what to do now. Basically, what has changed since 2.6.28 that caused this in the first place?
Thanks in advance for any help!

This may sound like a silly question, but you did have /boot mounted within the chroot when the kernel installed right?
    --Does the arch-fallback initrd help?
--Boot into your recovery console and take a look at dmesg & /proc/partitions. Make sure your drives are being detected & what drives/partitions are where.
--More than one disk? ls /sys/block/[sh]d[a-z]/ should show you what partitions are on which disks.
-- Be sure root entry in /etc/fstab and on kernel command line are the same.
--More than one disk controller? Put the module in mkinitcpio.conf so the controller with your / on it gets loaded first  (I had fun and games with this during the ide -> pata switch)
+1 for the referencing partitions by UUID, you can also do it by filesystem label (root=/dev/disk/by-[label,uuid]/XXXX)
    Steve.

  • Dataloss in network... How to trace it..?

    Hi,
Though this question is related to SAP XI and SMICM trace, I feel this question can also be answered by people in WebAs General, so i am posting this in this forum.
In my current scenario where SAP XI system pushes data to another system(ABC system) using HTTPS connection. I have set up an RFC destination of Type G to connect to the external system.
When i do a Test connection, i see in SMICM log file, i found that connection established, request message written into ABC system. When response is being written i could find BINDUMP of content denied in the SMICM log file. What does that exactly mean..?
Also When i contacted the other party--ABC, they have told that they could not see any messages in their system.
XI shows successfully processed and ABC system did not receive the message... So where did the data go?? I have no clue :-(( Need your inputs in this regard. How to trace if the message has been successfully posted by XI. Below is the SMICM log file.

  • Can not read trace of controlfile...

    hello,
we have Oracle 10G production database on RAC on windows 2003 Enterpr 64 bit.
i wanted to take the trace of controlfile and read the contents of same..
i took the backup of controlfile with the
sql> alter database backup control file to 'd:\control.trc'; then with the help of tkprof i transferred that trace file into txt
tkprof d:\control.trc d:\control.txt but whn i try read that its giving me nothing..the size of the tracefile hows something 15480kb and that of the text file created by tkprof is only 2k..how is that?
i also tried to open the tracefile with wordpade..but it shows me junk value...
how can i read trace of that file
    need your help...
    thank you..

because thats the controlfile itself, and not its "trace"
    SQL> alter database backup controlfile to trace as 'd:\control.trc';

It all seems to start with this error:
java.util.regex.PatternSyntaxException: Unexpected internal error near index 16 number_of_nodes\
They all appear just once a day and all at the same time.
I already looked for possible causes or background jobs, but nothing...
Can anybody give me a suggestion?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Kevin,
indeed....You need to apply the following SAP Notes:
1749574 - Checking for the latest Configuration Wizard patch
    1927916 - Registration of Mbean:ConfigurationExportKMC DefaultTrace
Afterwards restart J2EE engine. This helped in my case.
    Best Regards

  • Unable to see custom Trace messages in Log Viewer which were defined in UDF

Hello Experts, I am not able to see my trace messages in Log Viewer. I have a small user defined fuction which takes a variable and returns its uppercase and while do that it writes few warning level trace messages in the trace file. I've tried changing the levels from Warning to Info but I still don't see anything in my Log Viewer. At this point I am not even sure if I am looking at right place. When I test my mapping in Message Mapping's Test tab it works fine and shows me all my trace messages. But when I do end to end it is not writing anything to the trace file. I've tried to use instructions from following blogs:
    1. /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2007/04/30/xipi-personalized-logging-tracing(logging and tracing)
    2. /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/05/10/xi-i-cannot-see-some-of-my-messages-in-the-sxmbmoni (logging and tracing)
    3. /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/02/25/simple-java-code-in-graphical-mapping--xi(for my UDF)
but I still don't see traces in my Log Viewer. Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong here.
    Thanks in advance!!

Thank you Prateek for a quick response.
Yes I was able to see my trace messages in SXMB_MONI. Below is my the info... This is great. I am still not sure why this info is not showing up in Log Veiwer's (default trace) window. Any ideas? Since this XML file contains lots of other information I was wondering how to put my trace messages into the log viewer.
    Thanks!!

    ST10 traces 1 instance only.
Your CRM web interface could use another instance than your backend. Go to transaction SM21, choose the appropriate server and run ST10 again.
