Oracle 의 모든 trace file 은 owner 가 oracle user, group 이
dba 이고 640 permission 을 갖습니다.
예를 들면, -rw-r----- oracle dba
따라서, UNIX 에서는 $ORACLE_HOME/log 나 initSID.ora, configSID.ora 에
지정된 directory 에 생성되는 모든 trace file 은 위의 permission 을
갖기 때문에 dba group 에 속하지 않은 사용자들은 trace file 을
access 할 수 없도록 되어 있습니다.
해결
====
tracefiles_public =true 라는 parameter 를 initSID.ora 에
추가후 db restartup 하고, 일반 사용자들의 umask 를 000 으로
setting 하시면 됩니다.
1. cd $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
2. UNIX,VMS 의 init<sid>.ora 에 다음을 추가하십시오.
tracefiles_public=true
3. save init<sid>.ora
4. restartup database
위 작업은 oracle trace file 이 trace 를 생성하는 사용자의 umask 에
의해 trace file 의 permission 이 결정하도록 합니다.
일반 사용자 가 OS prompt 상태에서
$umask 000
으로 한 다음 sql trace file 등을 생성하는 작업을 했을 때, 화일의
permission 이 다음과 같이 생깁니다.
-rw-rw-r-- 1 oracle dba 2945 Apr 16 10:11 ora_28494.trc
즉, trace file 의 owner와 group 은 여전히 oracle, dba 이기 때문에, umask의
세번째 field 가 0 이어야 dba group 이 아닌 일반 사용자 들이
trace file 을 읽을 수 있습니다.

Web-Disk on OSX 10.9 Give me this error: "Finder got an error: Network file permission error."

Previously I was using OSX 10.8 and Web Disk was working great.
Since I upgraded to OSX 10.9 Web Disk Dont Attach to my compputer and give me this ERROR:

To force all connections to be SMB1:
Open A terminal window
paste in the following line followed by the return key(should be all on one line):

What the command does:
Creates a file called nsmb.conf in your home directory at the path ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf.
Adds directives to force SMB connections to use the SMB1 protocol. This is slower but stable.
Then I could use Web Disk on OSX 10.9 after executing this command in Terminal.
But now I restarted my Macbook and now Im NOT able to connect to Web Disk and get the same ERROR.
FInder got an error: Network file permission error
After trying 100 times it attaches 1 time but then show this ERROR:
Can't get <<class cdis>> "my.server.com/2078" of application "Finder".
If this happen then I can see the files in Finder and see the Contents and Size of files but if I open a PHP file in BBEdit then it shows BLANK.. But actually it is NOT blank.
Now Im stuck How can I solve this? All help is highly appericated..

Make sure to chmod the app, something like this :
chmod -Rf 777 secure_site_WebDisk.app
(in my case the CPanel provided the app for my OSx version.)

Not able to get the actual plan from trace file

I have a Db package and want to get actual execution plan of all the statements in that pakcage it does provides the plan for System's statements but does not displays the plan for Sql statements

Remove the line alter session set sql_trace=false and just exit/disconnect. The explain plain is contained in the STAT lines in the trace file and are only written when the cursor closes. If you turn off tracing before the cursor closes the STAT lines will not get written.

How to create the trace file using run_report_object at runtime

I'm using run_report_object to call a report inside the form. THis report is running OK from reports builder, however it's too slow when run from Application server.
How Can I create a trace file (at runtime) that contains the time spent in sql and formating the layout of the report ??

Slow running reports often are not the result of a flawed report, but rather a flawed configuration. For example:
1. If you call your reports (from Forms) via the default or inProcess Reports Server, often because startup time is slow, it will appear that it took too long for the report to be delievered. Using a stand-alone Rep Server is the preferred way to do this.
2. If your Forms application makes numerous calls to RRO (RUN_REPORT_OBJECT), this can tend to result in what might appear as a memory leak (although it is not). The result is delayed processing because of the excessive memory use. This problem has been overcome in Forms/Reports 11 by the use of JVM pooling. However in v10 enabling "6i compatibility" mode is the way to overcome the issue. See Note 266073.1
3. If the report runs fine from the Builder and it is connecting to the same db as when you run it from App Server, the issue is unlikely a db problem. However, if you want to look anyway, enable sqlnet tracing.
4. To enable Reports tracing and investigate other tuning options, refer to the Reports 10 documentation:

If you are using a v11 db with App Server 10, you will probably want to consider reviewing Note 1099035.1 as it discusses an issue related to performance with such a configuration.

Unable to generate trace file

I have written the stored procedure for starting sql trace on a given session for say n number of seconds.

The above procedure compiles successfully and when I call it from sql prompt it gives me the message that the pl/sql procedure was completed successfully and all put_line statements are displayed.
Real problem comes when I check udump for the trace file. I can not find it there. It seems all the statements in the procedure are executed successfully except dbms_system.set_sql_trace_in_session(v_sid,v_serial#,true) and dbms_system.set_sql_trace_in_session(v_sid,v_serial#,false) for some strange reasons.
Any help will be appreciated.

But the trace file is not generated.
I am using Oracle 10.2.0.4.0.
Will try using DBMS_MONITOR.

it again gave the same error.
In both two cases it gives elapsed time results,library cache missing etc but before giving this it throws ORA-00604 error as stated above
then i again correct the tkprof statement ..
tkprof <source.trc> <file.prc> sys=no sort=exeela,fchela,prsela table=new_schema.plan_table explain= /
say this schema name here i used is dummy schema name.
My question is did this error came as we had not sufficient previlages in the old_schema but that previleges we have in new_schema?
My databse version is 9.2.0.4.0

Please post here full error message, there should be lines with ORA-00604 and then some other ORA as well.
And are there any trace files generated during this error?
And as You can see from error description, probably You will have to contact with Oracle support in order to solve this case:

hello,
there has been a network or file permission error. The network connection may be lost.
this is the error my client gets sometimes when he wants to save a word document.
when i go in the finder i have no problem accessing that network share, and when i look up the file and check the permissions there is no reason why this error should occure.
situation :
1 os 10.3.9 server
7 os 10.5.5 clients
1 os 10.3.9 client
office 2004 for mac (version 11.50)
there are 2 10.5.5 clients (emacs) with this problem on a regular base (3-5 times a week). One imac 17" 10.5.5 has this once a month.
it is a wired cat5 network.
any idea what could cause this problem?

oracle creates sql trace files on server side, what are possible and best ways of sharing those files with end users? is it possible to create them on client side instead?

Reading trace file on the fly.

I came across one cool trick mentioned by Tanel Poder, but it doesn't seem to work for me. Could anyone please help in reading trace file on the fly.

Error 8 File permission error while building executable for a RT

I got error 8 File permission error while building executable for a RT. It happened always after build, I mean new startup.rtexe and startup.alias files have been created. At the build properties, it was set use default .alias file.
I had the executable built successfully at one time.
The detail message is:

There are many ways to create a trace file in the apps. Pl provide details on how you enabled trace, as that will determine where the trace file is created.Concurrent requests trace files are always created under USER_DUMP_DEST directory.

Name of trace file from trace enabled concurrent program

Hi all,
I am looking for a sql script or method to find the name of a trace file in udump for trace enabled concurrent programs. I know the trace files show 11i logon (user_name from fnd_user) in the name of the trace file but I am looking for a sql that would give the exact name of the raw trace file with request id as input.
I have 11.5.10.2.
Any help?

To run SQL trace for a form :
a. Get to the point in the form where you want to turn trace on.
For example, if the problem occurs on the commit, wait until you are
ready to commit, THEN turn trace on.
b. Turn tracing on. In GUI versions: Help - Tools - Trace, enable tracing.
c. Execute the steps you want to trace.
d. Turn tracing off. In GUI versions: Help - Tools - Trace, disable tracing.
The trace file will be written to the subdirectory specified in the
'user_dump_dest' parameter in the INIT.ORA file.

How to get the trace file name for current running application?

Hi, I want to know if it is possible to get the file name directly for current running application instance which is launched by javaws.
There is a property "deployment.user.logdir" tells the log directory, it would be great if a file name property
is available. something like "instance.trace.file".
Our application wants it because we would like our client send use the application log by clicking a "send error"
button, the codes finds the trace file and compress it and send it by using a smtp server.
In 1.5, we can do it by using a shell program.

I found other asked it before, but I tried to set both properties, but neither works. my sun JRE version :java version "1.6.0_04"
