Trace manager in OEM 9.2

Hi,
Got OEM 9.2 up and running, with oms on Win and repository on Solaris.
Tried to use Trace Manager/Trace Data Viewer (as it was in OEM 2.2), but found only Trace Data Viewer. How to create trace data (of a session) to be used by Trace Data Viewer later on?

Workflow Manager with OEM

Hello,
Having some trouble setting up Workflow. Workflow server is installed and accessible. However, when attempting to access the Workflow Manager from OEM, OEM is generating the URL using the local machine and no port number instead of the Workflow Server and port number. I suspect this is a configuration issue, but am unsure how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

Never mind. Found the solution on Metalink. However, we are now getting a different error. It is now hitting the correct server, but we are getting a 'Page Not Found' error. Any ideas?

Cannot open OLAP instance manager from oem

When I tried to connect to the OLAP Service Instance Manager from OEM, I got the XPINSMGR-10565 and when i tried to start the olap service from control panel I spotted the error "......error 2"

i already unlock and change password for user : OLAPDBA,OLAPSYS,OLAPSVR and SH during instalation Oracle database but i don't understand because that schema unlocked but the password that i fill was not applied.
Now i can not change their password, can explain how to do it..??
Now i use Oracle Database 9.0.1.1.1
and Oracle OLAP 9.0.1.0.1
so, it match or not..??? As SYS, login into OEM and in the Security node expire these OLAP passwords. Enter in new passwords and unlock them.
No, the Oracle Database and OLAP versions are not a mismatch. This combo version tells me you are running on the Windows platform. After you do get the initial release of OLAP up and running, it is highly recommended that apply the RDBMS patch set 9.0.1.3 and OLAP patch set 9.0.1.2.1.

Exception Management in OEM 12c Cloud Control

Hi All,
It is mentioned in the Oracle Documents that Exception Management is a part of Business Transaction Management feature which can ne achieved by enabling SOA management pack EE on the target which in turn provides transaction alerting and searching to locate exceptions and errors in transactions that span multiple application components.
But then can any one please tell me how can I achieve this? That means what all configuration (other than soa management packEE) is required for this exception management and how can I do this OEM . I am not able to find a good document which explain the exception management in OEM 12c cloud control.

Business transaction Management 12c (BTM)is licensed with SOA Manangement pack Enterprise Edition along with WLS Mgmt Pack and management pack for non-oracle middleware. So, if you have SOA Mgmt Pack EE, then you are already licensed for BTM 12c.
You need to download BTM12c (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/downloads/btw-downloads-207704.html) and then you need to install it (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/install.121/e37016/toc.htm) . Once the installation is complete, you will need to send traffic through your managed targets, where you would have already deployed the BTM observers (Ref. installation guide). Once traffic will be sent, your services will get discovered and then you will need to create transactions (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e37014/transactions.htm#sthref186) that you may wanna monitor. As part of the transaction creation, you can enable logging on the transaction and once that's done, you will be able to search and manage exceptions by monitoring your transactions.

Management through OEM???????

I want to manage the database through OEM and would .like to automate few things if possibkle through OEM......plz let me know if these things are possible through OEM in 9i
1.In case my tablespace is more 80% full,I should get an alert(or mail or pager) through OEM????????
2.In case theres an error in alert.log ...I should get an alert(or mail or pager)through OEM ???????

you can start by reading the documentation
note that in 10g, all those events (ORA- in alert log, tbs full) are activated per default.
You can probably do that with 9i GUI too, but I have not done it myself.

Issue with ADP manager in OEM 12.1.0.1.0

Hi All,
I have deployed ADP manager and ADP agent in OEM 12.1.0.1.0. Everything is working fine with it but I am not able to view dynamic topology for my application. Static topology is displayed fine. But in dynamic topology there is nothing dynamic about the topology also link among the components and services are missing. Its only displaying the different components and services present in the application.
Can anyone please tell me what can be the issue?

Hi Roshni,
I assume this is a SOA application. Is this SOA Suite 11g or OSB? If so, you should be seeing static and dynamic topologies assuming that the application is under load of course. As ADP primarily is used to provide diagnostics through SOA, portal, and MVC apps (JSF, ADF, Struts), you normally wouldn't deploy it on a regular JSP/servlet type of application. Anyways, is there sufficient load on the application? If there is and you are still experiencing issues, I would recommend opening up an SR in this case just so our ADP support team can take a look at your log files to better understand what you are seeing.

Backup Manager on OEM

Hi,
I'm really stuck and frustrated with this one:-
I'm trying to issue backup jobs from Enterprise Manager but I keep getting VNI-2015 : authentication error.
I'm sure I've set the node credentials correctly and the user is a local user on the NT Server with 'log on as batch job' set up.
Any ideas please?. Is there anyway to check on NT that the job even tried to login?.

Set correctly the username and password for node and database.
for Node:
username should be local NT user (not the domain) with req rights (you took care of that).
For Database: Oracle database user with
req privs for the job.
create a simple job & run -- sysdate.
ex: select sydate from dual;
If this works, then database user may not have the priv to run your job.

Backup Manager from oem

Hello,
I want to use predefiend backup strategy - backup entire database on sunday and make incremental backup on other days.
My problem is that backup manager deletes archive logs. How can I avoid this.

EM version 9.2 gives you more options as to when you want the archive logs to be deleted. The earlier version of EM should also have a check box that determines if the archive logs should be deleted after they have been backed up.

Trace manager in SUN DIM

We have the SUN IDM running on a WLS 8.1. The application we are developing spits log messages to a log file (log.txt). They are all "System.out" statements. Instead of "System.out", I want to use the TraceManager provided by the IDM. The "trace" method writes messages to "log.txt" when I use the method "trace.info(String methodName, String message)". I can see the "message" in "log.txt". But when I use other methods provided by "trace" class such as "entry(String, String)", "variable(String, String)" etc..I dont see those messages in my log file. "trace" works with "info" method, but doesnt work with other methods. What is that I should do to get those messages printed to my log file?

Anyone use Oracle Privileged Account Manager with OEM

Our security folks are pushing us to lock the "oracle" account and use OPAM. Have others done this? Is it possible?
What they are hoping we do is create a named account, and only su into oracle if need be. I realise these doesnt audit much of anything .. but alas..
If we lock "oracle" - can OEM pull passwords from OPAM? I think thats what they are looking for us to do. OPAM would rotate passwords and such. We as dbas should never need to know the oracle password.
I could be totally off on this ..
Anyone gone down this road before?

Question for incident manager notification (OEM 12c)

If an incident manager's owner is changed. Can the notification sent to the old owner and new owner?
I can setup a rule on "Incident update", but the notification only sent to the new owner. Is it possible to notify both the new and old owner?

Third party Management intergration with OEM

I have various Dell servers that use OpenManage Systems Management (OMSA) by Dell. I have been able to integrate OMSA and the emagent in Linux. I need to see if anyone has managed to get OMSA and OEM agent working in Windows.
This integration allows OEM to monitor system hardware on the servers and gives a single point of management in OEM.

there are a lot of WCMS Systems that can be plugged with EP. Just have a look at the <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/contentportfolio">portal content portfolio</a> where you'll find some certified business packages to integrate some CMS.
I have good knowledge about CoreMedia and RedDot and they both run very well with EP. If I remember correctly, the first one to be certified was a product from Interwoven, but I do not know that.
If you do not want to invest in some external product for integration (doubled license fee, doubled administrational effort, ...) you should have a look at the following solutions:
1. easy Web CMS by btexx (quite good)
2. business package for web editing by SAP Consulting (same)
3. SAP web page composer as shown on teched (part of SP 20 in Q1 2007)
As I have a very close look to your issue (WCMS in EP) I'm looking forward to the web page composer. Maybe you should have a look at the teched slides.

OEM vs AW Manager

hye!
i'm working with OLAP 9i. i have to make a project with ROLAP. i now have the relational tables, 2 fact tables and 2 cubes. what i don't understand is: do i have to use aw manager or oem. my teacher is telling me that for ROLAP i'm not allowed to use analitic workspace(but she only knows Express, and i read somewhere that db in express are now called analitic workspaces...so i'm very confused...). So. OEM or AW Manager????? (my version of OEM does not contain AW Manager)
and another question: after inserting data in the relational tables what do i have to do??? IMPORT data into DIMENSIONS or CUBES or using DML and CONTAIN command??????

Manage OC4J via OEM

Can OC4J be managed through OEM? If so, can this be done with a standalong OC4J instance or does the full 9iAS need to be in place?

I just spent a week getting one of my oc4j 10221 standalone applications to work with the otn win2k ias903 distribution with oc4j/ohs/mod_ossl/mod_oc4j/oem/webcache.

OEM Report Generation Failed

Hi Guys,
I have been trying to set up ORM Reporting, I have changed the REPORTS_USER password, I have run the "oemctl configure rws" script and I have stopped and started the HTTP server. However when I log on to http://server.name.com:3339/ and try to access the reports it comes up with this error:
"Generation of the report failed because a connection could not be made to the Oracle Management Server oem.hazpower.com. Ensure that the Oracle Management Server is running and that the webserver has been appropriately configured for Enterprise Manager Reporting."
I can't find out where the problem sits, are there any logs etc that I can look at???

Cause: ===== The JSERV.PROPERIES file contains two LD_LIBRARY_PATH entries. One of which is incorrect and pointing to non 32bit environment. Fix: === Navigate to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH in the $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Jserv/etc/jserv.properties file and correct the entry. Restart Apache and access the Reports.
