Tracing folder

what is the need for the tracing folder in lync 2010? and what can we benefit from it ? and is there anything related to audit (computer audit) in this folder (kind of archiving or monitoring ...)?

I'm a bit confused by the question.  Are you asking if you can use the tracing folder to determine user usage, such as how many instant messages they send, desktop sharing sessions, etc?  If so, then no, this is not the right resource for that.
You'd want to deploy monitoring and possibly archiving for that.

  • Unable to search GAL on Lync 2013 Front End Pool through Lync 2013 client

    I'm in the beginning of a 2010 to 2013 migration and I'm currently testing co-existence functionality between pools.  I've noticed that users cannot search the GAL from their Lync client after being moved to the 2013 pool.
    When trying to access the internal URL https://fepool13.domain.com/abs/handler the user is prompted to login and after three failed attempts, receives "401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.  You do not have permission
    to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied".
    Searching withing a Lync 2010 or Lync 2013 client returns no results, but there are no errors as well as nothing in the event logs or tracing folder regarding not being able to search.
    The 2010 pool has been in production for a few years now and when accessing its internal ABS URL https://fepool10.domain.com/abs/handler the user is granted access after a successful login.
    In the IIS logs there are slightly more detailed 401 error codes, but I’m not sure what to make of them.
    The rtcab database appears to have user information and all three front end servers appear to be syncing with active directory.  I say the rtcab database appears to have user info because the AbUserEntry table is filled with User ID'd, GUID's and a
    bunch of other stuff.
    The authentication on 2013 front end servers “internal lync website/abs/handler” is set to 1. Negotiate, 2. Ntlm - which is the same as the 2010 front end servers.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Which step did you do among migration from Lync Server 2010 to Lync Server 2013?
    Did you already move CMS from Lync Server 2010 to Lync Server 2013?
    Please create a new Lync account on Lync Server 2013 pool and test the issue again.

  • Jabber and calendar integration

    Hi,
    I've got two types of Jabber client deployment - on prem and cloud based (this is the old webex connect, not jabber for telepresence). Both have different issues with calendar integration.
    On prem Jabber:
    1. Presence status is passed to Outlook
    2. Calendar appointment whilst they do show up within meeting tab on Jabber client, the status of the client doesnt change to "In a Meeting" during appointments.
    Off prem Jabber:
    1. Presence status is NOT passed to Outlook
    2. Calendar appointments works fine - ie show up in the meeting tab, and status changes correctly.
    I have modified AD attribute proxyaddress for on prem clients to SIP:samaccount@cupdomain, I've assumed that for off prem clients, it would be SIP:email@domain as used by login details. I cant seem to find any documentation about calendar integration with webex connect clients.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi Elena,
    Is it same machine where Outlook integration works with on-prem? If not, there are few things that you could check:
    Uninstall other IM clients
    Check if any other IM client with Outlook integration has been installed. Many other clients use the same api’s to integrate with Microsoft products and maybe blocking Jabber Click to X. If any other product is installed please uninstall and reboot your machine.
    Some applications known to affect Jabber presence integration are: Cisco WebEx Connect, Microsoft Office Communicator, Microsoft Lync, CUCIMOC, CUCILync, Standalone Click to call, Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 8.x.
    Registry settings
    Confirm the following registry settings exist and are correct:
    32-bit machines
    Key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{8885370D-B33E-44B7-875D-28E403CF9270}\TreatAs
    value (REG_SZ): (Default) = {83CE44B6-A512-4199-9766-38357A9108E8}
    -Jabber sets this on install; it replaces the existing class ID with ours

    -Office creates these values on install.
    Key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Call Integration\IMApplication
    value (REG_SZ): IMApplication = CiscoJabber.exe
    - Jabber sets this value on install, this key is created when office is installed

    - This key is set by Jabber you do not need to create or manually edit this Registry Key.
    - If jabber is running and this key is not set to 2 then there is problem, gather a prt.
    64-bit machines

    If all is in order, then open a support case with Cisco TAC and provide logs as below:
    Enabling Outlook logging
    Setting this registry data enables logging for the presence features that integrate between Outlook and Jabber, and shows additional information in Outlook and Jabber. To set this registry key, do the following:
    Click Start, and then click Run.
    In the Open box, type REGEDIT, and then click OK to start Registry Editor.
    Navigate to key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IM Providers.
    Create DWORD: OfficePresenceLogging with Value: 1.
    If it does not exist already, manually create %userprofile%\Tracing directory, otherwise the log files will not be created.
    Restart Outlook.
    The log file is created in the %userprofile%\Tracing folder and the file name will be OfficePresence-#.log (where # is an integer). The last modified date will indicate which file is the latest.
    Create a Jabber Problem Report (PRT)
    Recreate the issue.Do this by opening the email\SharePoint page that shows the problem, select an example user, show their contact card.
    Take screenshots of the issue and record time stamps.
    Take note of the User names and email address\IM address of the problem users.
    Go to your Jabber client and select Help > Report a problem, and then follow the steps to produce the problem report.
    Thanks,
    Maqsood

  • Not able to install sysprepped Windows 8.1 image, an OfflineServicing error appears.

    Hello
    I have Windows 8.1 Enterprise image failing at the end of the PE phase from a
    WDS Server. I´ve searching through every related post but nothing solves the issue. My scenario is similar to this one (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7ce4c49d-e8a4-460a-ae17-240daaf5f50e/deploying-a-win7-image-via-wds-fails-with-offlineservicing-error?forum=w7itproinstall),
    but with Windows 8.1 Enterprise instead.
    Basically, I have sysprepped Windows 8.1 and capture the image successfully without any problem. Then, I´ve uploaded the image to my WDS without any unattend xml file, but when trying to install it I get the following error message after completing the "Expanding
    Windows Files" phase:
    “Windows could not apply unattend settings during pass [offlineServicing]”
    I´ve used the official image release, plus the only one partition disk is formatted before the installation. Every configuration seems to be set correctly. I wonder if there is any particular issue related to Windows 8.1.
    I´ve already done this procedure with many other OS images and I´ve never got this error message.
    Furthermore, I also tried to perform the installation with an empty unattend answer file attached to the deployed image, but the error still appears.
    I wonder if the Win8.1 image needs a proper configuration of the unattend answer file, specially on the
    Pass 2 of OfflineServicing. Unfortunately I don´t know how to configure it. I would like to keep the credentials and partition configuration be set manually.
    Thank you for any help you can give me.

    Hello, thanks for the replay but I didn't found any relevant log file on the client machine.
    Unattend mode is unchecked, and I haven't used DISM at all when creating the image. I haven't also opened nor updated any metroApp (although if this were the case, it would raise an issue on sysprep phase).
    X:\Windows\panther directory does not exists; (C: volume is not available at installation phase)
    X:\Windows\diagerr.xml doesn't have any relevant information (it defines some AtrributeType tags with a number in a xml format but it has no content on any tag.)
    X:\windows\tracing\ folder is empty;
    X:\windows\Logs & \Logs\CBS folders are empty;
    I've checked all the volume and I couldn't find any relevant log which shows an error on the instalation.
    In addition, I tried to look into WDS server, but the Enable Log property that the article refers for Windows Server 2012 (WDS is installed in a Windows Server 2012), is not shown at the
    EventViewer - Deployment-Services-Diagnostics section. Plus, I search the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Tracing\WDSMGMT
    entry in order to enable it, but it does not exist.
    WDS worked and is working without any issue regardless this Windows 8.1 image. I don't think it has a somthing to do with its configuration.
    Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi,
    Since this VPN can worked well last week. I suspect it you have configured any group policy in this environment. You may using safe mode to ensure if the issue persists.
    Moreover, we can gather the netmon trace and RRAS with event log to track this issue.
     Please help me collect RRAS traces and network traces on a problematic client and the NPS server. To do this,
    a. Download Microsoft Network Monitor Tool from the following link and install it on the client and the server.
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=983b941d-06cb-4658-b7f6-3088333d062f
    b. Start Network Monitor at "Start" ->"Program"-> "Microsoft Network Monitor 3.4" -> "Microsoft Network Monitor 3.4" on the client and the server.
    c. On the left-panel, select LAN connection on the server and select corresponding connection on the client.
    d. Click "Tools", click "Options", switch to the "Capture" tap, and set the "Temporary capture file size (MB)" to 200 on the client and the server.
    e. On the NPS server and the wireless client, run the following command under the command prompt to enable RRAS tracing.
    netsh ras set tracing * enabled
    f. Click "New Capture", click "Start" on the Capture menu in the two Network Monitor windows.
    g. Now from the client, try to establish the wireless connection to reproduce the problem.
    h. Once the problem occurs, click "Stop" on the Capture menu on the client and the server, and click "File"->"Save as" to save the captured files.
    i. Run the following command under the command prompt on both the NPS server and the client to disable RRAS tracing.
    netsh ras set tracing * disabled
    j. The tracing files are saved at %systemroot%\tracing folder. On both the NPS server and the client, please compress the "tracing" folder to a zip file.
    Thank you.
    Best regards,
    Steven Song

  • Lync status doesnot change while on call

    Hi People,
    We have 1 isolated Lync issue where user's Lync status changes to busy instead of "on a call" while the user talking via Lync.
    User does not have Lync mobile app or Lync deskphone so the possibility of Lync status being overwritten can be ruled out. I have tried deleting sip folder/ tracing folder asnd repairing office 2013 but no luck.
    I am looking at the new sip trace of the user but can not see any input from the server when the call is connected( Not sure if there is any)
    Any suggestion?

    If the Lync user make a call and the call is established, the status is not busy?
    Because "on a call" will be only shown with the right privacy relationship like workgroup and not for colleagues.
    regards Holger Technical Specialist UC

  • LS Centralized Logging Agent Event ID 33041

    I am seeing the following error very frequently on all my Lync servers that are running the CLS agent:
    LS Centralized Logging Agent Event ID 33041
    Lync Server Centralized Logging Service Agent Service was unable to convert etl trace record(s) to cache record(s) due to missing message formats and lost these record(s) permanently
    Cache file path: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Local\Temp\Tracing\CLS_WPP_10-13-2014-17-21-13.cache
    Missing message format(s): 1
    d4626f10-6a45-af12-1218-c8e7bb881225(95)
    Cause: Lync Server Centralized Logging Service Agent uses default.tmx file to convert ETL records to binary cache file records. If it can't find the message format information for a record it will be unable to determine the data types of the insert data for
    the record and the insert data will be lost.  This can happen if the default.tmx file is out of sync with respect to the code generating the .ETL records.
    Resolution:
    Verify that default.tmx file is current and update the default.tmx file if necessary. Check if there are any private bits installed causing default.tmx to be out of sync
    It appears the errors started with the install of the August CU updating Lync to 5.0.8308.738.  Note, this error is with CLS, not Lync Debugging tools.  I have verified that ClsAgent.exe is using C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
    Lync Server 2013\Tracing\default.tmx, which is 23041 KB and dated 8/3/2014.
    Anyone else seeing this?  Anyone have a fix?

    I'm experiencing this issue also.  I've updated to latest CU and fixed the agent not starting issue.  Now the agents run, and I can see the cache files growing.  But I get this blowing up the event log:
    Lync Server Centralized Logging Service Agent Service was unable to convert etl trace record(s) to cache record(s)
    due to missing message formats and lost these record(s) permanently

    Resolution:

    private bits installed causing default.tmx to be out of sync
    Log files created with Search-CsCLSLogging -Output "myfile.log"  produce this event and create an empty file.
    I've tried copying the default.tmx from the Tracing folder to the Debbing folder, as suggested in other posts, but have the same results.
    Interestingly, I can stop the agent service, and run the old OCSLogger Logging Tool program and can produce valid log files.
    Any suggestions?

  • Safe to delete content from the Temp folder under AppData?

    Hi everyone,
    Is it safe to delete the contents from the Temp folder (C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Temp) in the SharePoint 2013 web front end servers?
    For some reason I see around 30 GB of temp files. Came across
    this blog post but in my case ULS logs are still being generated in the D drive. Not sure how those Temp files are being created. Application servers seem to be fine.
    Tried -
    changing the ULS log path from D to C and back to D drive (as per the above blog post... no luck)
    tried restarting the SP tracing service
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    in the tracing drop down menu, how come the custom is greyed out and can't be selected? It looks like its disabled!!

    cc2014,
    Have you selected an image?
    Unless a good explanation appears, you may start onthe list below.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Airtunes and computer out of sync: traced to APX (n version)

    I had posted this in the itunes forum, but I've now traced it to the airport express (n version). I traced it by running Airtunes (a utility that allow streaming of any audio content to an APX) and the problem did NOT happen. I'm running APX version 7.3.2. Here is what I originally posted:
    When I stream music from itunes 8.1.1.10 to only the airtunes speakers, it 'hiccups' every couple seconds, skipping over tiny chunks of the music. it does not come over as silence; it's as if the music folds back on itself and a tiny chunk is skipped. this happens with any content. when I switch to my computer only, it's fine. this did not happen until very recently.
    then I play itunes through both my computer and airtunes, it's just a complete wreck. the airtunes speakers skip and hiccup while my computer is fine. what is the problem here, apple!?!

    Without knowing the specs of your videos it is hard to say. I'm also running a Mac and am having no such issues.
    My first thought is that you have something from a 3rd party installed that is causing conflicts. If all else fails try transcoding your mp4 files to a frame based codec using the Adobe Media Encoder. Pick one of the Apple production codecs or Jpeg compressed QuickTime.
    Are you running a ram preview? Did you render your Premiere timeline? Are you new to AE?

  • Clclean...... Does ANYONE know what this file/folder is

    I have gone through NUMEROUS sources to determine if 'clclean.0000' <to name one file> is malware or if it is valid. I have traced back to Creative Audigy, but this doesn't truly make any sense as clclean.0000 is located in /Docs & Settings/usr/Local Settings/Temp. Clclean is a folder, file, & process. Whenever a boot sequence occurs, this process isn't logged in MSCONFIG nor in the startup. However, I open my task mgr & the process is there. I have gone through the suggested routes regarding removing this file, but the file still remains no matter what I do <Normal or SAFE Mode>. There is even a posting on the Creative boards regarding this file, but there are NO replies. Can ANYONE answer what is the purpose of file/folder/process?

    That is nothing to worry about. Safari has supported HTML 5 local starage since version 4.0, you probably never noticed it before. It's a way for a web site to locally cache data that you create when you visit their web site. That way the data is still there when you go back to the site. I'm sure it has other uses as well.
    Here is some info about how to implement HTML 5 Local Storage from the Safari developer's site. You can do a Google search for more info if you are really interested.
    I have almost 400 files in that directory from various web sites I've visited dating back to the middle of 2010.

  • What are sxx files in forms90 folder?

    9iAS 9.0.2.3.0
    Forms 9.0.2.12.2
    We use Web forms on Windows 2000. In our %9iASOracleHome%\forms90 directory, we see files like
    s1ns
    s2io
    s2j4
    s2ls
    s2po
    s2to
    s2ts
    s3gc
    s41o
    s48s
    s49k
    together with ifweb90_dump_[number] files. I can safely delete the ifweb90 dump files knowing they're created by forms server crash. But what are the sxx files? Does anybody else have them?
    Our development team doesn't recognize those files. Oracle support says they're "not created for Oracle products" and "the names do not correspond to any technical log or trace generated for Oracle".
    These files seem to contain some user data while most of it is binary data. The first eight bytes of the files are always x87 (hex 87) followed by seven x0 (hex 0). UNIX `file` command doesn't recognize their type. If they're forms cache data, I'd like to create a dedicated folder to contain them. But I don't know where to configure the forms cache directory.
    On some servers, these files could be three characters in name such as sdk, sfo, sic... In that case, the second character is always a letter. But most of them are four characters. In that case, the second character is always a number.
    Yong Huang

    Hi,
    I was very astonished today to find such files in forms90 directory on my w2k box, so I tried to figure out where they come from. I've checked my config files just to make sure that logging and tracing is disabled. workingDirectory parameter in formsweb.cgf is not set. I can confirm most of what Yong Huan says except of the first 8 bytes of these files. Some of these files have x47 and x08 followed by six x00.
    However, I did some testing and found out that an empty file is created when a user runs a form with a multi-line block, executes a query, navigates to the last record using pagedown-key and pressing pagedown-key again and again (about 3 or 4 times). The file remains empty. If the user ends his forms-session, the file is deleted. I have not found out yet under which circumstances data is being written to that file.
    It would be nice if someone else could confirm this, and it would be very nice if someone from Oracle could comment on this.

  • SQL tracing in ADR

    Hi,
    I've a question and needs calrification. As in 11g $ADR_HOME/trace holds the information of background process tracing and SQL tracing. Now I want to know how can we seperate the SQL tracing files and BG tracing files. Let say its not possible and both are written in single trace files, then my question is can we extract SQL tracing information from this single file through tkprof.
    I'm not sure weather BG tracing is enabled by default or not. Please clarify it as we have to explicityly enabled the SQL tracing.
    Looking for your information.
    Regards,
    Abbasi

    I think that it would be hard to tell which file belongs to the background process or which one to the foreground process just by looking at the files. We must know the process id and then use it to track the file. The trace folder contains both the Background and User_Dump_Dest combined in it so it contains both the files. Background tracing is not on( I think that there is no such concept called background tracing) and the trace file would be generated when the process would be abruptly terminated.
    Just my 2 cents.

  • Where can I find a document's or folder's GUID for the FLD_MOVE service?

    We are currently migrating to Webcenter Content 11.1.1.6 using FrameworkFolders. We need to integrate with several other systems to check-in and retrieve files and would like to place our content in a folder-based heirarchy. I have been using the Generic Web Service to perform integration functions.
    I am trying to use the Folders Services to get information about folders and place files into specific folders.
    First of all, if I check in a file using the "CHECKIN_NEW" service, what folder does the file go into? I can search for the file, but it doesn't seem to belong to a folder? As far as I can tell, the only way to retrieve the file is to search for it. Shouldn't it go to some folder by default?
    Second, lets say I want to move that file to a folder. The "FLD_MOVE" service seems to be what one would use to place a file into a folder. The parameter (item1) that is used to identify what you want to move can take either a GUID or a path to the file. I can't use a path since the file doesn't seem to have a path. I have tried using the dID and the dDocName as the GUID parameter, but the service always comes back and says my item does not exist.
    I can't find any other kind of unique identifier for my document. I have searched and searched for what the GUID could be and how to find out what it is. GUID seems to be specific to the Contribution Folders and Folders Service, as none of the other services reference GUID.
    What is a GUID and how can I figure out what a document's GUID is?

    Very good advice on turning on the auditing. I found a link to how to do this in another post. It seems the documentation around the services lacks the information necessary to use them, but the audit logs can reveal what parameters need to be used to perform an action.
    Turn on server-wide tracing for request audit http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10792/c03_processes.htm#CSMSP536 and then create the link from GUI (maybe DIS). You will find your answer in the Server Output.
    By turning on the audit logs and using the browser UI to place a document into a folder, I found this in the audit log (cleaned up for readability):
    IdcService=FLD_CREATE_FILE
    fFileType=owner
    fParentGUID=3BCD5A4050F2D10D9C0A0CF3CC8840C1
    dialogCounter=4
    dDocName=USTST-PFARPIM000808
    constructDidCreateLinkDialog=1
    dID=807
    idcToken=1370802991160%3A01FCE7B4B65CB3E48EDC2A1982C62526
    constructDidCreateLinkDialog=1
    IsJson=1
    Calling the web service using the parameters in bold performed the folder assignment of a document using the document's docName value (which is readily available in the GUI).
    Thanks!
