Track ball drivers don't work with Lion

My Kensington Turbo Mouse won't work properly with Lion.
The Kensington web site no longer recognises the product, and it is only 3 years old!

Try third-party drivers as well

  • V570 video drivers don't work with Windows 7 Home Premium 64

Yesterday I bought a V570 notebook, with an addition Windows 7 Home Premium 64 BIT OEM, since the operating system on it was Free Dos.
I've installed Windows and started to install the drivers from the disk that came with notebook. After I've installed the Intel VGA driver, on boot I got a bluescreen, then the notebook just started to restart. I couldn't get a restore so I had to reinstall windows again. After that I've tryed to use the drivers from the lenovo page, from windows update, all the same result.
So I've downloaded an illegal copy of windows 7 ultimate, just to test it out, and guess what, IT WORKES PERFECTLY FINE! Now I can't and won't use that windows, this is why I paid for an original one, so please someone tell me what can I do to make it work! I was up until 4:15 AM and coulnd't find an answer. There is a national holliday today in Romania, so the guys from the call center are not working today.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I finnaly resolved it. If anyone else has this issue, here is what you do:
    1. install all drivers from the CD, except the ones related to the graphics card
    2. install all Windows Updates, except the ones related to the graphics card. You will have to reboot a couple of times, and keep installing until the only updates that remain are related to the graphics card.
    3. install the video drivers from the CD

  • P4m266 (MSI 6786 V2) On-Board VGA drivers don't work with SP2

I have a Pinnacle Micro system in the workshop which required a re-installation of the OS. The client no longer has the original installation CDs from Pinnacle and the local Pinnacle branch have declined to make a copy available to me. The mobo is an MSI 6787 Ver.2 with a Phoenix BIOS.
I installed Windows XP Home (no SP) and had no problems. I then used the CD supplied by Microsoft to install SP2. On rebooting the display was horrific. The OS automatically detected the VGA card as an S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR and installed the drivers. However it is virtually impossible to see anything on the screen, the colours are distorted and very faded. I tried to download updated drivers using the LiveUpdate feature but the first problem arose when it wanted to update the Phoenix BIOS with an AWARD BIOS...I quit in a hurry.
I have tried several drivers for this card. I browsed through the P4M266 boards until I found one which looked identical to the board I have in the workshop. However, it doesn't matter which version of driver I use none of them will give me a reasonable display.
Please can somebody tell me where I can find the correct drivers?
    TIA

  • Will Snow Leopard drivers typically work with Lion?

I'm sure that it varies per driver obviously, but I'm going to be switching from a PC soon, and I would like to use an external USB audio interface for recording audio. However, Tascam has discontinued the product, and they only supported it through Snow Leopard. Do people tend to have luck using drivers for Snow Leopard with Lion? Thank you!

Don't count on them working for hardware other than maybe printers.

  • My two HP printers aren't working with Lion. Any generic drivers available?

I have an HP Officejet 8500 and an HP Photosmart C3180. Neither will work with Lion and the drivers aren't available yet. Is there any work-around so I can print or scan?

I had problems with a Deskjet 6988  and an Officejet 6500A after upgrading to Lion. Could not find any generic driver. HP referred me back to the Apple website saying Apple would take care of thing with an update. That update waqs finally available on August 3 from the download section of Apple Support. Both of my printers were listed on both the Ap[ple AND HP site as being supported in Lion. It wasn't that easy. When I tried installing them, the system looked on the Apple site for the drivers but could not find them. only after several more attempts and after shutting down and restarting my system was
able get both printers to work.
Maybe the key might have been the shutdown and restart?

  • Since I work with Lion all my programs start automatically. I don't want this

Since I work with Lion , all programs start automatically. Takes to much time. How can I change this?

It is one of the over 250 new features of the World's Most Advanced Operating System called Resume.
When choosing Restart, Sleep or Shutdown there is a checkbox you can uncheck to prevent the apps from launching.
Also in System Preferences > General there is a hard-to-find checkbox under "Number of recent items" you can turn off.
If you want to turn it off on a per app basis, (TextEdit is by example, replace TextEdit with the name of the app)
Launch Terminal and copy/paste this at the prompt...
defaults write com.apple.TextEdit NSQuitAlwaysKeepsWindows -bool false
    Press return.
    To turn off Resume globally...
    chflags uchg ~/Library/"Saved Application State"
    Press return
The reverse of the first one is to replace false with true.
The reverse of the second one is
    chflags nouchg ~/Library/"Saved Application State"

  • Why won't my printers work with Lion?

I am so frustrated. After upgrading from leopard to lion, my hp photosmart 8750 and Lexmark 5320 printers won't work on my macbook pro or my mac pro G8. I've downloaded the drivers, did the troubleshooting - tried everything. My CS2, MS Office for mac and some other programs I had aren't supported on lion. I'm faced with huge expenses replacing these products that were perfectly fine all due to a $29.99 upgrade that is so not worth it. I went back to leopard on my mac pro and it's still not right. Any help?

    HACKINT0SH wrote:
And with lion, usually you don't need to install printer drivers, unless you're at your last resort and things have gone pretty wrong.
That's not entirely correct. There are plenty of business printers whose supporting printer drivers are not included with Lion. So rather than being a last resort, it's a necessary first step. And for the drivers that are available from Apple Software Update, which are supplied to Apple by the printer vendors, this service was available with Snow Leopard, so it is not a new feature in Lion.
I am also curious to hear why you would suggest creating a new account for a printer issue. Supporting printer files reside in root Library and CUPS so a newr account would have the same access as the existing account.
And the SMC and PRAM suggestion is also a confusing suggestion for a printer not working. In the 12 years that I've supported printing on Mac's I've never once needed to do either of these resets. So again, would love to hear why you would suggest such a drastic step, especially when the Mac's appear to be working in other areas.

  • Adobe flash don't work in lion

adobe flash don't work in lion

I Already tried that. Even tried uninstall and reinstall! Ialso tried uninstall and reinstall of reader then uninstall and reinstall of flash. There is another display quirk with Lion , if I let my mbp go to sleep without logging out or shutting down, I get the last screen frozen. I have to use the curser to erase the area where the login icon is, then I can enter the login pw and get the mbp to be functional again! There are a number of other display related sizes and parameters that randomly happen since lion was installed. UNSTABLE is a good description here !

  • Apple Remote stopped working with Lion on iMac

My white Apple Remote does not work with Lion on my iMac 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo anymore.
I'm sure it was working recently as I was able to control the volume on my RadioShark application.  Now that doesn't work anymore and I can't seem to get the remote to work with anything.
I've tried restarting my iMac, swapping the remote's battery, and using another remote but still no success.  The only response I get is from the remote's 'Menu' button which, when pressed, toggles between two graphics on screen - one a four-way arrow indicator with a centre button, and the other what appears to be a Forward/Back, Centre button with corner indications for Expand/Shrink.
I've tried the 'Pair' option but pressing 'Menu' and 'Fast Forward' does nothing on screen - no sign of the chain-link 'Paired' symbol. Neither of the white remotes I tried is 'Paired' with the iMac.
It seems I must have done something to cause this but can't think of any change I made that could be responsible.  I know Front Row is no longer accessible in Lion, but is there any other app I could test my remote on?  Any kind of hardware reset needed? (unlikely, I know, with two separate remotes showing the problem).
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

I'm replying to my own question because my remotes are working again.
I'm not sure what I did to fix the issue, but I tried shutting down all open applications (I remembered that by default Lion re-opens with everything as it was).  And shortly afterwards I got full functionality back for my Apple Remote.
I'm not sure what caused the issue.  I did install Easy Timeline, which I'd downloaded today from the Mac App Store.  It has Apple Remote functionality, so I'm not sure if it was in some way implicated.  It's working now with my remote, as is iTunes, and RadioShark.
    Weird!

  • My Quicken no longer works with Lion.  Any suggestions?

My Qucken no longer works now that I have installed Lion.  Any suggestions?

Visit Intuit for their solutions or find another application that works with Lion of which there are many. Quicken is supposed to be upgraded this year for Lion, but that's only the rumor.
You can also downgrade back to Snow Leopard or partition the drive and install Snow Leopard on a different partition provided you can install Snow Leopard on your Mac model
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 is not working with Lion.

Adobe Photoshop CS5 is not working with Lion. It is totally non responsive to a point where i cannot work. all other CS5 programs seem to be running well so far. any advice? if no, then how do i revert back to Snow leopard?

I had real problems with all Adobe apps - it said I needed to install a version of Jave Runtime, but kept saying that I wasn't connected to the internet to complete the action. This was not the case - I was connected to the internet.
I followed this link : http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1421  to install a version of Java and all Adobe apps fire up now. Haven't done much testing within the apps, but at least I'm further ahead than I was.
So thanks to the message boards for helping me out.

  • What versions of Adobe Acrobat work with Lion

I would like to purchase Adobe Acrobat Standard for may Mac with Lion installed.  It's not clear from the Adobe web site which versions of Acrobat are compatibile with Mac and Lion.  I would appreciate any advice.
    Thanks,
    Rick

This article from Adobe http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/905/cpsid_90508.html (scroll down to "Acrobat Family") says the plug-in doesn't work with Safari 5.1, but the app itself works with OS 10.7 and 10.6. I don't use Acrobat but this implies that the latest version should work with Lion. Maybe an email to them will get an answer for sure.
