Track Bleeding

A project I'm working on has two tracks. One is an audio instrument with acoustic bass (EXSP24) and the other is an audio track for guitar. When I record guitar on the audio track and play the audio file alone I hear the acoustic bass on the file as well. Why is an audio instrument track bleeding into my audio file?

Haha, mate, this is how you learn!!!
In fact, there are some fairly interesting effects you can get by recording something through a guitar's pickups... Try holding notes on the strings and sliding and things. It's a really amusing thing to play with, and after a bit of playing, you can get some funb sounds. Anyway, this is what these forums are for!

  • Track bleed while recording

I'm trying to use garageband mulitracking to record songs.  My usual method is to record guitar as first track, and vocals on the second track and build from there.  I am using headphones to listen to the guitar track and I'm singing along to the guitar.  But, when I play back the vocal track by itself, the guitar from track 1 is very audible.
This track bleed is really bad in playback.
Anyone know how to stop this?
I'm using iRig as the mic input.  I use over ear headphone's for playback. I've tried noise gate, but it doesn't stop it.  I'm starting to think I'll have to record one track on my iPad and the next track on my iPhone so the tracks are seperated and can't record each other.
Anyone experienced this and figured out how to stop it?

    I'm using Sennheiser HD 203's.
I don't think it's picking up the headphone's because I use an external metranome to lay down the first track using the same headphone's, and that is never recorded.

  • Click track bleed through on electric guitar parts

Hello, I have been getting bleed from the click track onto my live guitar tracks. Probably something simple that I need to adjust.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi
Plug your electric guitar into an amp. Turn it up. Sing directly at the guitar top (where a pickup is).
See Jónsi of Sigur Ros fame do this on stage here ... http://tinyurl.com/29jkbag
If the click track is playing loud enough to hear over the music, then a guitar pickup will pick it up. Especially a hollow body electric.

    hi
i think that naybe there could be some bleed from the headphones say when i am recording vocals but i have vocal echoes coming out as low distorted echoes on guitar tracks where the guitars have been recording straight into gb ie not a mic'd up speaker. i cant believe the pick ups on the guitar are picking up noise from headphones

  • 1st track records on 2nd

Ok, I am pretty good at recording and mixing, but I admit it... setting up audio hardware is NOT my thing. I have tried everything I can think of, and still no luck. First recorded track bleeds over onto second one when I only want what I am putting on track two. The sound card is an older one, a Delta 44. I have the most recent driver installed. I am running Vista Home Premium (32 bit, SP1).
    Can anyone help? PLEASE???
    Thanks!

    Hi folks.
I am still having this issue and have not been able to solve it. I looked through the info as you suggested, Steve G. Although it appears to have been designed for older versions of Windows (I am running Vista Home Premium, which by the way is probably the biggest mistake of my life). I did the corresponding settings as best I could. I have the M-Audio selected as the recording device, and the playback device (which is the way Vista labels them). The "recording" options are Line 1/2, Line 3/4, Monitor and Multichannel. The "playback" options are Line 1/2, Line 3/4 and Multichannel. I believe I have tried every combination. I think I have also tried every possible combination of settings in the hardware setup area of Audition, as well as those on the card itself (sw rtn, mixer, 1/2 in, 3/4 in). I haven't changed anything on my mixing board from the setup that every prior version of Audition worked with (I'm running v3).
I am doing the basics correctly, like setting "record" on track two but not track one, etc. I've been with this software since Cool Edit Pro v1 and never had this problem.
I need to get a project done and am about to pull my hair out. If someone can walk me through this process I will be glad to pay a reasonable fee for your services.
I appreciate any responses. Thanks so much!

  • Audio bleed problem

    Hello,
I have a new HP Envy TouchSmart Notebook.
I loaded several split tracks on the laptop that I am playing using Windows Media Player. When I play them them the right track bleeds through on the left and vice versa. The right track is voice and the left track is instrumentation.
On my previous laptop, they did not bleed through. I use them for my worship service at church and the idea is to not let the voices play through, only the instrumentation. With the voices bleeding through, it doesn't work very well.
I went in to the audio properties, changed the balance on each side and individually played one track at a time. First, the right side only, then the left side only. Each time, there was bleed through from the other track.
I tried it on another pc, and there is no bleed.
This laptop has Beats Audio on it.
Please give me an idea on how to fix this. For as expensive of a laptop this was, surely it can play the audio clean.
    Thank you for your help

  • Sound coming from muted tracks

Well, sort of. We have answered this type of question many times for others, telling them to turn off their monitors or to turn down the headphones volume when recording.
I soloed an SI track (bass guitar) and on playback I could hear one of my vocal tracks. Unless I actually mute the track it comes through at about half the volume. There are seven tracks at this point and none are locked.
I don't know if any of the answers previously have resolved a real problem of tracks bleeding through like this within GB but this definitely is not a recording error.

You can also just click off reverb in the Master track or in each individual track until you are done recording.
I'll have to listen carefully and see if this is happening on my machine. I would still try deleting prefs. Updates to the system may effect Core Audio and deleting the audio prefs may fix the problem.
My problem was worse. I got a distorted warbly sound of the muted tracks while recording. Deleting GB and Audio prefs got rid of it.
Is your USB or Firewire interface plugged in while starting up?

  • ITouch stereo channels bleeding

I have a problem with my iTouch's output jack's stereo channels bleeding into each other.  I currently use a 1st gen iPod for playing backing tracks for a band.  It works perfectly. I have mp3 tracks that have the click panned hard left and the backing track panned hard right.  No problems.  So I got the iTouch to do the same.  The tracks bleed into each other during playing, which cannot happen when using them as backing tracks.  I've had 2 itouchs now (a 2nd gen and now a 4th gen) and both are doing it.  Anyone had this problem?  Thanks.

You could try bouncing the tracks down in another format, some times WAV files don't bleed.
In settings on the Touch there may be a stereo enhancer function that is turned on, try turning that off.

  • Audio device won't work correctly

I have a plug in called Real Guitar 2. It has always worked in the past but now it has vanished from my list of audio devices. It appears in my dock and It's in my applications folder. I can get it to play but when I record with it, it records all the other tracks!! It's driving me mad! Why are all the tracks bleeding into the track I'm recording on? The other strange thing is that I can't make the internal mic stop recording. I even used headphones and still the internal mic is recording!! (I also turned the monitor off) When I try to shut off the mic, the plug-in doesn't make a sound and cannot be recorded at all. What is going on? Has the company that makes the plug in turned it off? Why doesn't the computer recognize the plug-in as it always has in the past? I'm assuming that is the reason for the problem. How do I fix this? In general, why is the internal mic always ON, even when it's not being used? When I switch to "LINE IN", the plug in won't work. I'm baffled.

It was a dumb mistake! After trying many options I finally realized that I was inadvertently trying to use the plug in as a "real instrument" instead of a "software instrument". It had been several months since I used it and I guess I forgot about those little details.

  • True Stereo Left and Right Separation from Mac

    Hello All,
This is quite long so please be patient.
I am trying to figure out if there is a way to get "true" left and right playback for split tracks through iTunes. By "true" I mean that neither the right track bleeds through the left or left through right. I use a lot of split tracks in our church and am trying to do it straight through iTunes.
I tested it with a stereo feed coming from the headphone jack to two independent speakers playing through iTunes. The instruments come out the right and the vocals come out the left. When I unplugged the left speaker (vocal) I could hear the vocal bleeding through the right speaker.
To further test this I burned a CD of the same song, played it through a stereo and could separate the left and right audio. I played the same CD through iTunes and unplugged the left speaker and could hear the vocal bleeding through the right speaker.
One last test, I opened Quicktime and selected the same track from the CD, played it through Quicktime, unplugged the left speaker and the vocal did NOT bleed through the right speaker.
So lesson learned, unless I am missing something - iTunes cannot really separate left and right signal from mp3's on the hard drive or burned audio on a CD.
By the way, if anyone knows how to accomplish this true split I would be grateful to hear it.
    Thanks,
    Greg

Ok.... I did some further testing.
I went back and noticed that in preferences under playback there is a checkbox for sound enhancer. With this checked you will get bleed of the left channel into the right channel. With it unchecked you will get the separation needed to play split tracks. Looks like I answered my own question. Hahaha.
Thanks everyone that looked into this,
    Greg

  • Track 1 bleeds into transistions on track 2 and 3

I have 3 video tracks on my timeline.  Track 1 runs, uninterupted, from start to finish. Tracks 2 and 3 have clips that overlay track 1.
The problem is that track 1 keeps bleeding through transitions taking place on track 2 and 3. It occurs right in the middle of my transitions.
How do I prevent track one from bleeding through my transitioning clips on tracks 2 and 3?
Also, I have inserted some still images that overlay track 1.  In one of the images I got a message that asked if I wanted to fill the background; something to do with the background being solid?
Anyway, one on my images filled in the track 1 frame but two of them show track one behind the still imagaes; where the image doesn't fill the frame.
    1. What is the frame size?
If I create an image in Ps what size should I make it so it will fill the frame; and what resolution setting should I use so the quatlity matches the video?
    2. How do I create a background that overlays the frame; so there is a solid backbround behind images that I add that aren't full frame?
Also, can I create a background effect; like textures, etc.?

Does that do what you need?
    Nope
That enlarges the clip and it is already topped out; which is to say it already fills the frame top to bottom.  What I imaged is that there would be a way to, somehow, create a layer behind the clip; that woulf fill the frame, so Video 1 didn't show at the outer edges of the clip.
It looks like I will have to create a background layer in Ps, then layer the image on top if it; then save it and add it back to my assets.  Then the clip will cover the whole frame.
ps I just stumbled onto the solution;  but I don't know why it works.
    1. I put the B&W clip on video 2; by itself.  As expected it doesn't fill the frame.
    2. I put the clip of the relief; by itself, on video 2. As expected it fills the frame.  This time I dragged it out along the timeline then
    3. I placed the B&W clip ON TOP of the relief in 2; instead of above it on Video 3.
Why does it now fill the frame?  Why did it get wider, but not taller?
Finally, I dragged the edges of the relief in on both sides, so they were no longer visible and voila; problem solved!
    But why does this work

  • Replacing tracks in live mix results in bleed-through of some of the prior recording. How do I prevent this?

I was doing some recording of our band yesterday using Logic Express 9 (13 tracks from a mixer going out the Firewire port into the Mac). For some songs, we wanted to replace the entire song, so I activated the replace button and started re-recording from the beginning. Visually it seemed to replace the tracks, and for many parts of the songs, it did just that. For some, however, there were still remnants of the prior recoding in the background. It was not consistent from song to song, sometimes you could hear some of the prior vocals in the background, in other cases the drums. These remnants were not throughout the entire song, however. You could hear it in some places but not in others. I do not see evidence of multiple takes when I look through all the tracks. It's as if it did not completely erase some of the prior audio, or blended it with the new recording.
Is there something else I need to do to get a complete replacement?
Thanks for any insights you may have.

    Hi,
if you have recorded the whole band through microphones, the earlier versions are ambient sound pickup from the mics of the other tracks. This can even occur if a singer wears a very loud headphone which you can hear through the vocal microphone. Just make sure during your recording session that all instruments that should be recorded very precise - without ambient sound - are recorded separately in a dry recording booth.

  • Bleeding audio on tracks using headphone amp

I can hear other tracks in backgroung of newly recorded track. I am using headphones via Behringer amp to an alesis mutimixer USB.
When I remove the phone amp, the problem goes, but then I don't have mult-phone capability.
    Ideas?

Is your microphone recording the leakage from the headphones? Then,
    Turn down the headphones' volume
    and/or
    buy good closed headphones.
Is the leakage electrical? Get your cabling and/or headphone and/or amp repaired or replaced.

  • Ive got unwanted audio bleeding on to fresh tracks.

Ive had glitchy loops ever since installing the apple training seriies. Now when I open fresh track for guitar I get audio from loop tracks coming through, muted of not. ?Update: Well, i figured out it is wired correctly because if I go into "gaming mode" it works properly. I have the problem when in entertainment mode or audio creation mode. I tried to replicate all the settings in the gaming mode into entertainment mode but still no go.. Update 2: I uninstalled all x-fi sofware and took out anything in the registry. After reinstalling, it worked like normal. I then started fiddling and somewhere in my "fiddling" process I noticed?the sud?wasn't working anymore. What was happening before is now mirrored back to the Suroundleft/sub. So now the subwoofer is playing whatever the SL is playing and the sub channel plays nowhere. I went into Game mode and it worked untill I went into the?bass management. hmmm..
