Track changes in Adobe Reader 8

I've created a form in Livecycle.  Our company has Adobe Reader 8 installed on the network.  I'd like to be able to track changes, like in Microsoft Word, on the pdf form when it is emailed to another user so if changes are made, I can see what changes were made.  Again, the user receiving the pdf would be opening the form in Reader 8.  We love pdf over Microsoft Word because it is such a versatile product and easier to use for most of our users than Microsoft Word.  It has provided us with so many more options for retrieving information in a much more easy to use format.

For Reader 8, the add-in for IE is AcroIEHelperShim.dll - this can be easily checked in IE7+ by going to Tools, Manage Add-ons, Enable or disable add-ons

  • Is there an option to track changes in Adobe Illustrator?

    Hello,
Is there an option to track changes in Adobe Illustrator? We are creating nutritional labels in Adobe Illustrator and we have to process multiple languages. Some of the languages are impossible to read (e.g. Arabic, Hebrew, Greek, etc.). To make sure no updates or changes are missed or wrongly implemented during label creation we want to track these changes.
So far we could not find any solution.
I still hope there is some kind of solution to track the changes in our Adobe Illustrator label and I hope someone can explain me how.
    Thanks in advance,
    Kind regards,
    Martin

  • Signature verification changes in Adobe Reader 9

[ I posted this message in the "Adobe Reader" forum, but I have realized that the post that I reference in my message belongs to this "Acrobat SDK" forum. So I've decided to send my post here, although this is not an Acrobat SDK question. Excuse me if you thing that my question should not be in this forum. ]
    Hi all,
I have found this post in this forum talking about changes in Adobe Reader 9 related to signature verification:
        http://forums.adobe.com/message/2439480#2439480
    I have another scenario:
    A PDF with two signatures.
After the first signature, a new page was added and then the PDF was signed again (using signature appearance).
Using Adobe Reader 8.1.5, the result of signature verification is successful for both signatures.
In fact, the byte range of the first signature is intact after adding the second signature.
But if I open it with Adobe Reader 9.2.0, the verification result is invalid signature (for the first signature): the document has been modified and there is a new page.
Since it seems that Adobe Reader 9 has added some new checks when verifying signatures, does anybody know (or know where can it be found) the list of new signature verification requirements of Adobe Reader 9 ?
Or the list of changes allowed in Adobe Reader 9 that do not invalidate signatures ?
Maybe a list similar to the changes allowed in the three types of certified signatures (TransformParams)?
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Thanks, lrosenth.
The document I was searching for is in Adobe site and is called "Adobe Acrobat 9 Digital Signatures, Changes and Improvements".

I have adobe reader 8 & cannot change to adobe reader X1.Is it OK to stay with 8? Am I missing out?

The latest versions of Reader have many improvements, including advanced security features. And, why can't you change that old version? Have you tried this?
Use this tool to remove all traces of all versions of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, download the offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Print as Image changes between Adobe Reader ver7 and ver8+

    Hi,
We have customers that upgraded to Adobe Reader ver8+ and are now experiencing printing issues with our printer driver (operating system is Windows XP/Vista). When they use Adobe Reader ver8 and above to print their PDF files, with "Print as Image" option selected, the print output is smaller. It looks like the latest version of Adobe Reader output the images using a square DPI. Our printer (line matrix) does not handle square DPI (for example: printer resolution are 120x48, 120x72, 120x144, and 180x96).
Our printer driver just takes the output from the Microsoft print spooler and just encapsulate it with our printer language. We don't do any image manipulation. So, I would like to know was there a change in the way Adobe Reader version 8 and above create the output image? If so, is there a backward compatibility switch our driver can issue during the printing function?
I tried talking to Adobe Tech support (bronze support), but they only handle end user issues. Is there a tech support option that I can purchase that will allow me to get to the root of this driver compatibility issue? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Adobe doesn't apparently care. I get this problem all the time on our work network. There's a lot of questions in this forum and elsewhere on the internet.
The best answer I've seen is that there's something wrong with the PDF or you don't have the right font, or you did something wrong, or here try this ridiculously complicated workaround. I wish they would just fix their program!
Suggestions: go through all the "standard" things like updating printer drivers, printing the document as an image, updating Adobe (yeah, like "it works now" is a new feature in the latest version), etc. It's possible that could fix the problem. Otherwise, wait until Adobe releases a version of Reader that doesn't have this issue.

  • Undo changes in Adobe reader file

Can I undo the last few changes I have made in editing a pdf file in Adobe Reader app for ipad?

You can't make any changes with Reader, that is why it is called Reader. If you are talking about entries in a form, that is a different situation and Reader XI should do the job (but not on the PDF itself, only the form field info).

  • Recovering the unsaved changes on Adobe Reader XI file

    Hi There,
I have been working on one Adobe Reader XI file and I had some annotations on it but iunfortunately i closed the file without saving it. Is there any way to regain those changes?

    Hi Gilad,
    Thanks for your response
I have just checked and i have this option was turned of for every five minutes. Then I went to the "C:\Users\D057078\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\11.0\Security" folder and i saw two dat files exactly have the same date that i closed my file without saving. But i am not sure if those are the ones that I look for. If yes I do not know how to open dat file. Would you be able to help in these further steps?

  • How do I change the Adobe Reader Online Word Look Up Dictionary?

When I select and right-click a word in a PDF file in Reader, it pops-up a menu with a Look Up Word option. Upon clicking it, I am taken to dictionary.com website. I want to change this to OED, because I have an account with them. Moreover, I often study old texts with words that are not mentioned on the default site. I have searched high and low, but couldn't find a solution. There must be a way to change it to some other on-line service or off-line program.
P.S: If there is no way to do it, I strongly propose Adobe to include this feature in future updates/releases. Trust me, there are thousands out there who absolutely need it.

I know of no way to change the dictionary. However, here is where you can put your request:

  • Did something change in Adobe Reader X with xfdf files?

Has something changed with Reader X and how to print .xfdf files?  For several previous versions my program would use reader to print pdf forms with data filled in via .xfdf files.  Once someone updates to ReaderX  then the pdf's print but no data is filled in from the .xfdf files.
So did something change with ReaderX or what it expects in xfdf file?
    Thank you,
    Steve

Sorry, I cannot find any non-sensitive file for the moment.  I will get into trouble if I upload any of them.
And you're correct: I can't find those strings when I open it in a hex editor.  Is there any utility to let me remove some texts without changing file headers and other properties?
For all my invoice files, they are all generated by the same company.  It's "Free Telecom", an ISP and mobile phone company in France.  But not all invoice files have this issue.  This issue only happens recently, and only happens to invoice generated for ISP, but not for mobile phone.
Here are some more technical info:
If I open the files in PDF-XChange Viewer, I can view some properties.
    I have
    PDF Producer:  PDF::API2 0.73 [linux]
The following image shows some remaining properties which are too much to type:

  • Changing Printing defaults in Adobe Reader XI

    Hi there,
In the following thread (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1108160) it was asked if the print setting defaults can be changed in Adobe Reader XI - this wasn't answered, and I'm wondering if there is a possibility that this can be done.
    Thank you!

When you use Kaspersky software install the updates from Kaspersky.

I am using windows 7 and attempting to install Adobe Reader 9.3.4.  When I do this all of my shortcut icons change to Adobe Reader icons.  Also, the destination links in the shortcuts have NOT changed but when I click on something such as the calculator it will try to open Adobe Reader.  The shortcuts return to normal when Adobe Reader is uninstalled.  I have installed several older versions of Adobe Reader and the same thing happens.  has anyone heard of this happening and if so do you happen to know of a solution?

  • Latest version of Adobe Reader won't let me annotate

I have been using the Adobe Reader 11 app to open PDFs and annotate them. The revised pdf is then uploaded to Dropbox and the reps in the field can download and continue annotating the same file. The field reps use iPads and/or iPhones but since the update to iOS 8.1 we can no longer annotate (I had a programmer specifically design this pdf form for me so it could be virtually passed and added to from one person to another via their mobile devices). Thoughts anyone?
    Len

    Len,
We received the PDF form.  Thank you!
The Document Properties dialog shows that your PDF form is a static XFA form authored with Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 9.0.
Unfortunately, Adobe Reader mobile products (Reader for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support static or dynamic XFA forms.  This has not changed since the introduction of Adobe Reader mobile products a few years ago.  This has not changed for Adobe Reader for iOS version 10.4.
When you open the static XFA form in any of the Adobe Reader mobile products, the text fields in the form are not highlighted in light blue.  That is the indication of the PDF form not being "fillable".  In other words, you are not able to fill in the static XFA form in Adobe Reader mobile products.  Sorry for the inconvenience.
Please use the desktop version of Adobe Reader to fill in static and dynamic XFA forms.
To make PDF forms fillable in both the desktop and mobile versions of Adobe Reader, we'd recommend authoring PDF forms using Acrobat Pro.
Please let us know if you have further questions.

  • How to solve Adobe Reader 8 and Internet Explorer (IE) setting set to Download Disable

Anyone can help me with this issue. Due to our company policy, Download is disable in the Internet Explorer (IE). With Adobe Reader 4/5/6, we are able to open and view the pdf on the IE. But with Adobe Reader 7/8, it require IE download enable before open the pdf file.

Yes, I agree that PDF always downloaded to IE Temp folder. But with IE download disabled and using either Acrobat Reader 6, we can open online PDF files. With with the same setting as above, but now using Adobe Reader 7 or 8, we would get the message "The current security setting does not allow for the files to be downloaded".
Anybody know of any workaround solution or something changed with Adobe Reader 7 or higher?
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Reader X save location issue

Hi All, i would like to seek expert helps on Adobe Reader save location issues. After we upgrade from Adobe Reader 9 to Adobe Reader X.
There are changes on how save location works in Adobe Reader X
If save PDF via Internet Explorer – the save location will according to last save location, HOWEVER
If save PDF via Adobe Reader X – the save location will set according to location the file is being open
Let me show you what i mean over the pictures
I open a reader_X_help.pdf using Adobe Reader X and then save the file using Ctrl+Shift+S at: C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My last location save
    refer my last save location.jpg
Now i want to save another new file back to C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My last location save, I open the file Adobe file2.pdf located at desktop and when i do Ctrl+Shift+S, the location point to my desktop and not C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My last location save
refer my last save location change to desktop.jpg
I have tested this features in Adobe Reader 9 and it's different whereby it's will point according to my last location save.
There is no issue with computer as i have 3 machine running different enviroment, Windows XP SP3, Windows 7 Enterprise, and all using same version of Adobe Reader X version 10.0.1.
    So my questions & concern:
Is there any way to change the save location features same as Adobe Reader 9?
If YES, how to do it? By Computer Changes or Adobe Reader X packages modification using Adobe Customization tools?
If NO, Where can i find this source of documentation stated about this new changes so i can publish this information in HP website as new design changes to avoid complaint or negative feedback.
Looking forward for expert reply as soon.
Thank you very much and Have a great day.
    Best Regards
    Edmund Lau

    Solved it!
    1-go to "edit", select Preferences.
2-select from the left pane: Security (enhanced)
3-click on "add folder path" button just below the big white box
4-pick a folder of your choice and click "ok". (your selected folder path will appear in that white box above the "add folder path" button in step 3)
5-if you want to add additional folders, just repeat steps 3 & 4
6-once you are done, click "ok" on the preferences screen and click "ok" again to accept the changes.
Yes, it seems illogical, but it worked.
I tested by closing the Reader (X), then surfed the web and did what Neher5 was explaining he/she wanted to do just after opening a pdf from a website and lo-and-behold,  it worked!. No more "save to temp folder" issues.
    Hope this helps.
