Track Changes modifies author/color when document is saved

I received a document that had been edited by another user.  When I make additional edits, they show up as a different color and under my author name, but when I save the document, they change to the first author's color and author name.  I've
tried saving the .docx document to a .doc, but it didn't help.  I'm running 2007.

Thanks Stefan. How is a normal mortal supposed to figure this out?
I was quite frustrated by losing the colors of my changes (which were numerous) as I was reviewing a contract. Suddenly my comments and the other reviewer's comments were indistinguishable. I spent a lot of time trying to work around this (assuming it
was a Mac Word bug) and then searching to find this thread. Still have to go back and now re-mark my changes to get them to appear in a different color.
In Word 2010, the “Remove personal information...” option will get activated by Word if a user removes personal information via File tab | Options | Info | Check for Issues | Inspect Document. This is poorly documented in Help, though.
What you can do is post to Office feedback (http://mymfe.microsoft.com/Office/feedback.aspx?formID=375) and suggest improvement for future releases.

  • Can I change the background color when I'm in a brochure layout?

    can I change the background color when I'm in a brochure layout? I've tried making a box in desired color but cannot push it to the back(not an option, it's greyed out)

    Then you are in a Layout template and the shape is already the back most object.

  • Why do Track Changes no longer show up when document is saved as .doc?

    I've used iWork for many years to collaborate with people in numerous other organizations who almost all use MS Office and are mostly on Windows. This year, the documents I send them, supposedly saved in Office formats, cause freezes, don't open, and even when they do, don't show Track Changes any more. That makes collaboration on document creation almost impossible. Workarounds? Solutions?
    Does anyone know if Apple is going to do a real update to iWork to bring it in line with current MS Office versions? If not, I'm going to have to give up on it and that will take endless work since I'm going to have to create new templates and sample docs from scratch. Anything I convert and import from iWork causes problems and the Open Office/ Libre Office suites don't even accept iWork docs at all. I hate to go back to using Microsoft products.

    I was still on Leopard when it started this spring (I suspect it started with updates others did for MS Office). I never used Snow Leopard or Lion on my desktop. Documents sent to collaborators or cllients started not opening or freezing or being Read Only through I had not sent Read Only docs. I hoped the upgrade to iWork that was available once I bought Mountain Lion would help and it did in terms of documents opening but not for editing.
    This happens with Pages and Numbers and I'm hearing it from others, and hearing they are also having this problem with Keynote. I'm about to collaborate on a presentation for a third party webinar and suspect it won't be worth developing it in Keynote from what I'm hearing. The problems have by now happened with dozens of collaborators in different organizations, countries, etc., including people with high level tech skills, so it's definitely at my end.
    I have tried on another computer (my laptop, which had the problem during Snow Leopard and still does under Mountain Lion). as well as other accounts; that doesn't make a difference.
    Throughout I've run whatever the latest iWork version was, but the upgrades have been minimal. It appears Apple plans to let iWork die.

  • Is there a way to retain the track changes from a Microsoft Word document when working on a IPAD word processing App?

    I am going on a work trip and want to be able to collaborate with my colleagues, almost all of whom will be using Microsoft Word on Microsoft Windows laptops and I want to draft and collaborate on documents.  The approach we always take to such collaboration is to use the track changes feature in Microsoft Word that shows changes and who made the changes.As best I could tell apples Pages software ignores the notations added by the track changes features and accepts all changes to the document making it difficult to see what changes were made and by whom.
    I would appreciate any suggestions to address this challenge.

    I noted from some similar topics that Pages seems to support track changes but that while it reflects deletions made in Microsoft Word, it does not appear to show them -- is there a way to fix this problem?

  • Pages "Track Changes" does not work when working in cells in a document

    While attempting to edit a WORD file (converted to Pages for my macbook) it was discovered that the Track Changes feature will not register if the changes are inside a "cell" in the file.  The RFP I am trying to respond to is made up of multiple columns and rows.  Anytime you make a change inside the columns or rows the "Track Changes" does not record the change.  Outside of the columns/rows it works perfectly.
    I download the most recent OS and Pages file last week.  The issue started then.
    Has anyone had this issue before?

    Yes.

  • Track changes causing #of pages in document to fluctuate wildly

    Hello! I'm running Pages 5.5.2 on an almost-brand-new Macbook Pro running OS 10.10.1.
    I've been working on a document for a long time with no problems (well, a bit of that lovely pages-5-lag), and tracking changes and converting to word and sending it off and getting it back and so on.
    Just recently, it's freaked out. If I keep track changes on (it's got 100+ changes and comments, but nothing too crazy) the document only displays 4 pages (of 18). If I edit something or scroll down, more pages appear and then disappear again within a second, first dropping down to just the first 2 pages and then settling back to the first 4. If I turn track changes off (and accept/reject all changes) the problem stops.
    It's making it impossible to work. Any advice would be hugely, massively appreciated.
    Cheers
    Matthew

    Hi Matthew,
    Pages is not a Word Clone. Exporting and importing between Pages and Word will build up glitches. If you are working with a Word user, it is best that you use Word for Mac or or a free look-alike such as LibreOffice.

  • In FCP it will not change the border color when attempted?

    I have tried to change the border color on a transition I am using with the Final Cut Pro Product and it still remains black.  Can some one assist me?

    1) What is the source material of the two clips you are applying the transition between?
    2) What are your sequence settings (click anywhere on your timeline and type Command + 0 {zero} to see your sequence settings - either report what they are or take a screen shot and post the screen shot here)?
    3) Have you tried creating a new sequence and see if you can get it to work correctly in a new sequence?
    4) Have you tried trashing you FCP preferences - usually recommended when FCP begins acting strangely -
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1846
    you can download (free) Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion that will do the work for you:
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
    it will also give you the choice of archiving your current preferences if you wish to return to them.

  • Certain sentences change slightly in color when I save as JPEG, how can I fix this?

    Here is an sample of my resume, notice that certain bullets and sentences have changed in color when I save it as a PDF, when I save it as a JPEG its fine though
    Ignoe the blue highlight
    your help is greatly appreciated!!

    You have a lot more issues than bullets & text changing color.
    Are you really using light gray text against a darker gray background?
    This makes it hard to read on screen and even printing out (in B&W or Color) will make the gray text halftoned.
    Trust me, no one will be happy to receive a resume looking like this.
    Make it in a work processor like MS Word. Black text on a white page.
    Save it as a .DOC, DOCX, or PDF.
    WIth some many people looking for a job in this economy today, you do not want to an employer to struggle to read your resume.

  • Changing JCheckBox default color when disabled

    I am using JCheckBoxes to serve as a checklist providing feedback to the user on how far through a sequence of events the program has progressed. I do not want the user to be abel to check the boxes himself.
    I currently am using JCheckBox.setEnabled(false) to keep the user for ticking the boxes. Unfortunately this changes the foreground color from black (readable) to gray (unreadable). setForeground has no effect.
    So I have two questions:
    1. Is there a better way to secure JCheckBoxes from the user?

  • Image with transparent background changes surrounding fill color when PMS...

    Hello.
    I have a .PSD image I'm using in InDesign CS3. It's a greyscale image with a transparent background. When I bring it into InDesign and set the background color of the image box to a Pantone and then print it, the PMS color within the area of the .PSD image size changes color compared to the rest of the page. But, when the same document is printed, but with "All Spot to Process" via the Ink Manager, the page prints fine. I get the same results on a number of different Canon and Xerox proofing printers. I have uploaded a PDF to my web server showing an example of the results I'm getting the PDF can be found here:
    http://theboyk.net/temp/PMSvsCMYK.pdf
    The first page is the document printed normally. You can see the color change in the green (Pantone Green). The second page is the same document printed with "All Spot to Process" via Ink Manager.
    Does anyone know why this happens when I leave it as printing a spot color?
    Any advice would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

    I totally forgot to put that in my post.  Yes, I am putting logos with transparent backgrounds in front of colored rectangles.  That's how I noticed that this one logo is showing up with a white background.  The weird thing is that the other two logos are fine.  I did find a different version of this logo and this one works fine.  The one that works fine is a JPG and the one that shows up with a white background is a JPG.

  • Illustrator Showing Correct Colors, When Exported or Saved as PNG Certain Colors Change

    How can I resolve this?  I am new and just downloaded the trial.
    Please help me.

    Exactly, so if you change your colour mode to RGB (File > Document Color Mode), your colours in Illustrator will change slightly but when you export to PNG there should be no colour change.

  • Changing the background color when opening an image?

    I just installed Firefox on my new Windows laptop, and when I open an image in a new tab the background around the image is a dark gray. On my old computer the background is white, which I much prefer. How do I change this setting?

    It is a new feature in Firefox 11+ versions to display a single image centered with an almost black background.
    It is added by this stylesheet:
    * resource://gre/res/TopLevelImageDocument.css
    You can look at this extension to set your preferred background color and remove the centering.
    * Old Default Image Style: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/old-default-image-style/

  • Cannot change JToggleButton background color when Windows XP theme is used

    I wanted to change the background of a JToggleButton when it's pressed. I tried a few things, such as
    UIManager.put("ToggleButton.select", Color.RED);
    setting button's background, button's UI.
    but nothing worked.
    so I tried changing desktop theme from Windows XP to Windows Classic, then i was able to set button's background.
    The following is a simple test program, by switching theme, the toggleButton looks differently.
    Does anyone know how I can change JToggle button's background color under Windows XP theme?

    public class ToggleTest {
        public static void createGUI(){
            JToggleButton button = new JToggleButton("Test");
            button.setBackground(Color.BLUE);
            JFrame testFrame = new JFrame("Test Frame");

            testFrame.getContentPane().setLayout(new FlowLayout(FlowLayout.CENTER));
            testFrame.getContentPane().add(button);
            testFrame.pack();
            testFrame.setVisible(true);
        public static void main(String[] args){
            try{
                UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());
                //UIManager.put("ToggleButton.select", Color.RED);

    class myToggleBtn extends JToggleButton {

        super(str, sel);
        s = str;
      public void paintComponent(Graphics g) {

             g.setColor(Color.green); //selected color
             g.fillRect(0, 0, w, h);
             g.setColor(Color.darkGray); //selected foreground color
             g.drawString(s, (w - g.getFontMetrics().stringWidth(s))/2 + 1, (h + g.getFontMetrics().getAscent())/2 - 1);

  • Is it possible to change the background color when publishing as EXE Full Screen?

    I often publish Captivate projects as EXE - FullScreen. I would l like to set the background color outside of the EXE frame. Is that possible. When running my Captivate published .EXEs at full screen at a resolution greater than the project, a tan color background color appears and I would like to change it to black, or some other color. I tried the Skin - HTML background color, but that had no effect.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    it is - use the oItem.BackColor property
    BackColor PropertyDescription
    Returns or sets a value specifying the background color of text or graphics in an item.
    Property type
    Read-write property
    Syntax (Visual Basic)
    Public Property BackColor() As Long
    Remarks
    RGB value in long representation. You can use the standard Visual Basic colors, for example, vbBlue, vbYellow, etc.
    The valid range for a normal RGB color is 0 to 16,777,215 (&HFFFFFF).

  • Change particular cell color when finised editing and when lost focus

    Hi, i want to create a table which its particular cell can change its color automatically to red if the value in cell in column in two is smaller than column cell value in column 1 when user finish typed a value or if the cell has lost focus. I've wrote a code for the renderer but how should I use action, KeyListener or MouseLister or both
    * File ColouredCellRenderer.java
    import java.awt.Color;
    import java.awt.Component;
    import javax.swing.JTable;
    import javax.swing.table.TableCellRenderer;
    import javax.swing.table.DefaultTableCellRenderer;
    public class ColouredCellRenderer extends DefaultTableCellRenderer implements TableCellRenderer{
        private Object col1Value, col2Value;
        public ColouredCellRenderer(Object args1, Object args2){
            this.col1Value = args1;
            this.col2Value = args2;
        public Component getTableCellRendererComponent(JTable table, Object value, boolean isSelected, boolean hasFocus, int row, int column) {
              return super.getTableCellRendererComponent(table, value, isSelected, hasFocus, row, column);
         protected void setValue(Object v){
              super.setValue(v);
            if((col1Value != null) & (col2Value != null)){
                int x = Integer.parseInt(col1Value.toString());
                int y = Integer.parseInt(col2Value.toString());
                if(x > y){
                    this.setBackground(Color.RED);
                else{
                    this.setBackground(Color.GREEN);
    }

    All you should need is the cell renderer to achieve that effect. Whenever the table needs to render a cell it will call the method
    getTableCellRendererComponent(...);This method in turn returns a component showing what the cell should look like. The DefaultTableCellRenderer extends JLabel, so you are meant to customize the label (based on parameters that were passed) and return this* at the end of the method.
    public Component getTableCellRendererComponent(...) {
             return this;
    }This one label is used to render all the cells of all the columns that the cell renderer is assigned to. Since you want some cells too be red, you should call setBackground(Color.red)+ when the conditions are appropriate or null otherwise.
