Track Import... bug?

Love the fact that Logic 9 added the track import functionality... especially when mixing a project where the drums were all recorded at the same time/place. Importing channel strips with the same plug-ins, volume, and routing from a previous mix is a HUGE time savor.
However, it's the routing that appears to be buggy.
I generally always route my drums to bus 1, so on the songs where I'm importing the drums channel strips, this is where they are output to.
However, when I use the track import function, I do get my plug-ins and static volumes, but these tracks are now all being sent to bus 27. Yes, consistently, and constantly... bus 27. Not bus 1.
An easy fix, of course, but was curious if someone could test this, or hear from others who have experienced similar anomalies

... so I did this function again yesterday, and this time, all the imported channel strips were set to output Bus 33.
Again, the song they were imported from, the tracks were sent to bus 1, but once imported, the output assignments change.
This appears to be another one of those features that Logic has added, but hasn't worked it out completely.... just trying to see if anyone else experiences this

    Flex pitch (Time) needs midi track import function

    HI it's me again ( under my studio name).. I don't use Garage Band. I use Logic x. so don't know why you'd suggest doing away with another program when I have no use for Garage Band.
    I think it ended up working only because it was a glitch.... when I exited the program and came back to it, it started working. The only thing that didn't appear was the pitch correction on the left hand side of the sound editor.. the slider button where you can go up to 100%...
    but at least it worked. This Apple operating system always has bugs .. but gllitching on my projects doesn't make me a happy camper.
    They don't even offer support for it. unless you pay through the roof.
    Anyway.. it showed up... not sure how it did, but rebooted my computer and miraculously it was there.

  • Selective Track Import: "Replace" mode deosn't work here with AUXes tracks

    I wonder why, using Selective Track Import, if I select an instrument track in arrange, and I select the instrument of the source song I want to import from, I get the chance to use "Replace" mode. On the contrary, with AUXes this option doesn't work: "Replace" mode is always disabled..... only "Add" mode.... (even putting aux track in arrange and selecting it...)

    Hey RevDave, it's David, not sure if you remember me?
    We went to your studio once with Curt Bisquera....
    Of course I do - Glad to hear from you again!
    Anyway:
    The MIDI preferences do work correctly, however they
    should have no impact on the Audio behavior. The fact
    that 'Merge new recordings...' messes with the
    replace mode is a bug.
    Another funny fact: the recording settings are
    divided into two categories:
    General and MIDI. That's misleading: they all only
    deal with MIDI recording behavior. Audio recording
    doesn't have such settings as 'Auto create tracks' or
    'Auto mute tracks' since it always behaves like that
    anyway.
    Thanks for explaining that - and glad to hear that it's a bug.

  • FB3 Beta 3 - another organize imports bug

    I'm getting lucky :-) Here is another organize imports bug in
    FB3 Beta3...
    If you have some simple hierarchy where base class defines
    public (or protected) method, and sub class tries to override this
    method you will encounter this bug. Let say that base class looks
    like this:
    package test {
    import flash.display.Shape;
    public class BaseClass extends Shape {
    public function BaseClass() {
    public function myMethod():void {
    trace("In BaseClass.myMethod()");
    and that sub class looks like this
    package test {
    public class SubClass extends BaseClass {
    public function SubClass() {
    super();
    Now, if you try to override myMethod() from BaseClass and
    start typing in subclass something like
    override public function m
    and use Ctrl+Space, FB will insert appropriate method but it
    will also insert errorneous import statement like this:
    import test.BaseClass.myMethod;
    So you will end up with sub class which looks like following:
    package test {
    import test.BaseClass.myMethod;
    public class SubClass extends BaseClass {
    public function SubClass() {
    super();
    override public function myMethod():void {
    Wrong import is correctly marked as error but issuing
    "organize import" does not remove it so it must be removed
    manually.
    Regards,
    Damir Murat
    PS: Sorry for bad code formatting but there is no option for
    inserting in-line code and attach code is a little bit
    awkward.

    Damir Murat,
    Did you already file a bug for this? If not, would you mind
    adding it to the public bug base so we can track the issue.
    Thanks,

    Hello,having a problem with Logic 9 on a Mac Pro.Working on a lenghty song and apparently session got corrupted.Doesnt let me export tracks,program crashes.Already tried start brand new session with the tracks imported into it but still wont export.Suggestions?

    Thanks, Ian. Yeah, that's how I do it now...or with the controls in the left side pane. Still, I would have liked that quick on-the-spot edit capability...especially while sketching.

    Sorry Mark, you are out of luck as it does not do that - it works the same as L8. The way I would achieve that with more accuracy and control would be to route all the tracks you want to fade to a Bus then use volume automation on the bus. To do this you will need to add a standard audio track, then re-assign it using (Control Click on the track header) to the Bus track. You can then automate volume/plugins etc on the Bus track.

  • Nwrfc 0.0.5 with important bug fix!

    I have just pushed version 0.0.5 of the new gem to rubygems.org (you can also access the latest repo at GitHub).
    0.0.5 introduces an important bug fix in Table#each. Previously only the first row would continuously be returned. Now you can actually treat a Table like an Enumerable!

  • I believe I found an import bug in LR 5.4

    I believe I've uncovered an import bug in Lightroom 5.4 under Mavericks.  I noticed a folder with 19 photos and videos, but LR was only showing 18.  So I tried synchronizing the folder, and still only 18 were found.  So, in the import screen I unchecked "Don't import suspected duplicates", and it still would not import.  So, I removed the folder containing the photos from LR, then re-imported them, and still only 18 photos!
    So, the .jpg file listed here will NOT import into LR regardless of my efforts.  The mp4 imports just fine.  It seems like a bug pertaining to files with the same name but different extensions, or something similar.  Here are the file names:
    bernie3_blue_baby_shopping_walmart-09-2.mp4 - IMPORTS OK
    bernie3_blue_baby_shopping_walmart-09-2.jpg   - WILL NOT IMPORT

    I’m not sure it’s a bug but rather by design. For example if you do external editing from Lightroom in Photoshop the word Edit is automatically added to the tiff or PSD file with the same name. Simply change the file name for the jpeg and it will import. LR does permit jpeg and raw files with the same name but it requires enabling in the prefs. I assume there is no similar pref setting for videos, as they would always be numbered separately when importing directly from a camera card; so the situation would never usually arise.

  • IDML Import Bug?

    Hi All,
    Just wondering if anyone can reproduce what appears to be a CS4/CS5 IDML import bug.
    I typed
    11
    22
    33
    44
    55
    (first 3 digits in bold) then tagged "22" as an XML element before exporting an IDML file.
    When the IDML file is imported, I get
    11
    22
    33
    44
    55
    (all digits in boldface except for the trailing 2.)
    The problem seems to be on the import side of CS4/CS5 since the exported IDML looks okay to me:
    <ParagraphStyleRange AppliedParagraphStyle="ParagraphStyle/$ID/NormalParagraphStyle">
         <CharacterStyleRange AppliedCharacterStyle="CharacterStyle/$ID/[No character style]" FontStyle="Bold">
              <Content>11</Content>
              <Br/>
         </CharacterStyleRange>
         <XMLElement Self="di2i7i6" MarkupTag="XMLTag/Story">
              <CharacterStyleRange AppliedCharacterStyle="CharacterStyle/$ID/[No character style]" FontStyle="Bold">
                   <Content>2</Content>
                   </CharacterStyleRange>
                   <CharacterStyleRange AppliedCharacterStyle="CharacterStyle/$ID/[No character style]">

         </XMLElement>
         <CharacterStyleRange AppliedCharacterStyle="CharacterStyle/$ID/[No character style]">
              <Br/>
              <Content>33</Content>

              <Content>44</Content>
              <Br/>
              <Content>55</Content>
              <Br/>
         </CharacterStyleRange>
    </ParagraphStyleRange>
    Comments anyone?

    Hello Larry,
    i am the developer of the IDMLlib http://idmllib.com/ a Java library which is able to read/modify/create IDML.
    I have also noticed some strange behavior regarding the importing of IDML, where the order of elements affect the parsing of the IDML in CS4/CS5.
    My first thought was, i have created an invalid IDML, but the IDML Relax NG compact schema is very explicit, order doesn´t matter.
    The best example i have at hand, which is very easy to reproduce is the TabList. A valid tablist attached to ParagraphStyleRange for example looks like this:
    <TabList type="list">
        <ListItem type="record">
            <Alignment type="enumeration">LeftAlign</Alignment>
            <AlignmentCharacter type="string">,</AlignmentCharacter>
            <Leader type="string"></Leader>
            <Position type="unit">144</Position>
        </ListItem>
    </TabList>
    If you change this by moving the Position to the top, which is no problem regarding the schema which doesn´t enforce a strict order of the elements:
    element Alignment { enum_type, TabStopAlignment_EnumValue }&
    element AlignmentCharacter { string_type, xsd:string }&
    element Leader { string_type, xsd:string }&
    element Position { unit_type, xsd:double })
    So if you change this example to this, and reimport the IDML into CS4/CS5 INDD the <Position/> will not be parsed and you wont see a TabList
    <TabList type="list">
         <ListItem type="record">
            <Position type="unit">144</Position>
             <Alignment type="enumeration">LeftAlign</Alignment>
             <AlignmentCharacter  type="string">,</AlignmentCharacter>
             <Leader type="string"></Leader>
         </ListItem>
    </TabList>
    If you export this again as IDML the <Position/> if set to 0
    I circumvented this problem by forcing the creation of TabList Items with a constructor that will only allow to create TabListItems with all values present and therefore i can force the order of the created childs. But i think this will not be the only problem where parsing doesn´t do what it is supposed to do.
    There has been a posting from a guy complaining about different import results regarding the attribute order of IDML element:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/637711
    I will try to reproduce the behavior you decribed.
    Cheers, Andreas

  • Variable bit rate on importing bug in iTunes 7.5

    I have tried importing a new CD into iTunes 7.5, installed this week as an update to the previous version.
    Now each track imported comes in at variable bit rates. I cannot seem to stop this. I tried to create a custom import rate without VBR but it ignored it anyway.
    Is there a fix for this? 7.4.x and earlier versions was fine.
    Mark

    Apparently it is related to the new QuickTime AAC encoder.

  • Address Book contact importing bug

    Bug reproducing sequence:
    1) Create any smart-group in the Address Book
    2) Double-click that group's name to rename it
    3) Command-Tab from Address Book leaving it in status waiting to enter new smart-group's name
    4) Double click on any .vcf file to import a new contact into Address Book
    5) You'd be forwarded back to Address Book with a window offering to confirm contact's import
    Bug itself:
    Pressing the Add button actually imports a new contact to the Address Book, but does not close this pop-up window. As a result you can create many copies of the same contact before you notice the problem and close this window pressing Cancel button.
    Testing the same sequence on MacMini and iMac caused creation of many Unnamed contacts and did not import a new contact at all.

    I found the solution in a different post in the community.
    You need to go into yr address book on yr MAC. Edit each contact 1 by 1... Cut (Cmd X) and copy (Cmd V) each pix back in... When you synch yr MAC and iPhone again, pix miraculously appear in Contacts and when you get a call from one of them.
    Not a fancy solution but works!...

  • Cannot import Bug Tracker demo app

    Hi. complete newbie
    Have installed Enterprise Edition on a test box at work (we have a license so don't panic).
    Installed Apex 3.1.1 over the top, using PL/SQL gateway.
    All works sweet, and insrtalled partial Production data and created a few simple reports.
    Tried to install Bug Tracker and it fails with a msg "invalid Import file".
    Checked the zip and instructions; we're doing it right.
    Any ideas?

    John,
    Tried to install Bug Tracker and it fails with a msg "invalid Import file".
    What are the steps you followed? And what is the actual error message you got? I can't find the message in our product files that you showed, and if there is such a message we clearly need to fix the punctuation and spelling.

  • Convert Regions to New Sampler Track - new bug in 9.1?

    I've tried creating new EXS instruments using the Audio>Convert Regions to New Sampler Track command and all I get is empty audio files, or files containing bursts of white noise.
    Same thing happens in both 64 and 32-bit versions of 9.1.
    The same regions create a working sampler instrument when the operation is tried in v9.02.
    Can anybody confirm this apparent bug?

    Bee Jay wrote:
    Ok, I set my audio format to CAF, bounced some audio to a CAF, then did the convert to sampler instrument on that CAF, and it still worked fine for me.
    The created slices in the EXS editor were all CAF format too.
    This is at 44KHz, 24-bit. What is your sample rate etc set to?
    The same - 44.1/24
    Oh well, I'll report it anyway. Maybe it's hardware specific.
    Thanks for your time, Bee Jay.

  • IPod Touch skips (jumps to the end of) the first track. Bug?

    Hello,
    I'm experiencing the following problem with my iPod Touch and was unable to find any information about similar cases in different forums:
    I have several Audible.de audiobooks on my iPod that are by default listed under "audiobooks". Recently I noticed that sometimes my Touch would jump over the first track of a music album when I would start playing the first song, directly jumping to the end of the track and starting to play the second (while the status dot stays at the end of track 1 for a while). It looks as if I had fast forwarded to the very end of the first track - and it happens with the first track only.
    I've removed all the music and books from my Touch and moved it back using iTunes, but this didn't help for long. If I completely turn off the Touch and turn it back on, the problem is solved for a moment. I kept asking myself why the problem would reoccur and it seems to me that it has to do with the audiobooks I'm listening to often. I tried the following:
    1. Switched off and on. Listened to music without any title jumping problem.
    2. Opened an audiobook and listened to it for a few seconds.
    3. Went back to music (any album) - the Touch jumps over the first track.
    This leads me to believe that listening to audiobooks (maybe just audible audiobooks) creates this problem.
    I also found out that after starting to play the first track (which gets immediately jumped over or, more exactly, to its very end), I can "heal" the Touch (until I listen to an audiobook again) by pressing Pause, then the back arrow twice so that I jump to the beginning of the first track, then back to the album cover and track list. After that, I can listen to music as long as I want to without any skipping or jumping, as long as I don't play an audiobook.
    To me, this sounds like a bug, but I can't tell if Audible or Apple is to blame. Besides, I don't see an easy way to contact Apple about a bug that might be related to their OS, which I find upsetting (they hide their contact adresses so well that you can't tell them about bugs in their own software, or you have to pay for expensive calls?).
    Maybe someone knows what to do or has already heard about a similar problem. I try to circumvent a complete reset of my iPod, as I have lots of apps that are arranged into many different groups. I'd prefer not to sort all of them again, but if resetting the iPod seems to be the only possible solution, I would try that of course. Of course I'd appreciate if someone could tell me how to fix this or whom to contact about it.
    Thanks (also for reading this long description),
    Alex

    Hi MikeSpike,
    Thanks for your comment! Have you tried everything to resolve it, like resetting the iPod as a new device after deleting the IPSW from your computer first? Does the error still occur?
    In fact, I cannot reproduce the problem using podcasts (they work fine for me, as far as I can tell there's no effect between podcast and music on my device), but it may very well be that the error is the same or a similar one (this would be for Apple to investigate, I'll forward parts of your comment to the Apple Advisor taking care of my case, if you agree).
    Yes, it is the first track. Although I had one rare occasion where only track 2 was skipped and another one where tracks it happened to tracks 1 and 2 (no shuffle, no remember position activated), the highly reproducible issue touches track # 1 only.
    Thanks for precising that you're using a BT headset. Could you please tell me which one, in case that matters? Has your iPod sometimes reacted weirdly when you used your BT headset to remote control the iPod, for instance skipping more titles than you wanted when you pressed "forward"? This is kind of what happened to me on my iPad and since then I've noticed the error appear on the iPad too.
    Regarding your other issues, I cannot confirm the podcast problem where a podcast starts at some random point. Podcast seem to work fine in my case, but maybe all of this is caused by one and the same error. Let's hope Apple will find it all and fix it in an update asap.
    Also, I don't have the artwork problem where an album displays artwork from a different album. I have had a case where a few tracks of one specific album (and just that one) were not displaying the artwork at all, although everything was properly tagged using the software MP3Tag. If you haven't reset your iPod (as a new device, not from the backup), maybe this would at least resolve some of your problems?
    While my problem is just annoying for people like me who simply want their new device to work without any errors (even if there's an easy temporary fix or workaround to these errors so that I could live with it), your errors sum up to a nuisance that makes it hard to enjoy using the device. Having wrong artwork displayed with albums (or none at all) and podcasts being played at random positions is certainly not what you'd expect from such an expensive device.
    Have you thought of contacting Apple about it? Not only might they have a solution for your specific problems, but it might also be more convincing if more people would independently report the first-track-skipping-issue we're all experiencing! What they need to know is that the bug is global, not just a corner case, and that it seems to be somehow related to their iOS. They couldn't afford ignoring it if several people would complain about this, especially now that a new iOS beta is already out!
    Maybe some other users who read this thread have made similar experiences without paying attention to it? To all other forum users: would you please try if you notice anything weird like first tracks being skipped, either music or podcast? Maybe related to audiobook listening, maybe related to BT headset use? I'd be happy to forward any observation to Apple (to the existing issue case number) in order to better convince Apple to investigate this - asap.
    Thanks again, MikeSpike, of course I will keep you all updated if I hear back from Apple!

  • Tracks imported from CDs prior to 11/08 not playing correctly

    95% of the tracks I imported from CDs prior to November of 2008 will not play back correctly in I-tunes or on my Ipod. Tracks that have been imported since then are fine.
    If I go directly to the MP3 file on my hard drive and play it through Windows Media Player it plays fine.
    Import settings are MP3 High Quality 160 kbps.
    If I delete the track in I-tunes and re-import it from the MP3 file on the hard drive it still doesn't play correctly or won't import it at all.
    If I delete the track and corresponding file on the hard drive and then re-import the track through I-tunes it is OK.
    Is there anyway to "repair" the old transfered files or am I looking at wasting 20 hours of my life deleting and re-importing all of these tracks?

  • Image import bug

    This past weekend I was setting up my new macbook pro and transferred about 2000 photos from a networked PC onto my mac. I was able to import all my photos successfully into iphoto and organize them there but whenever I did I would get errors in front row and imedia when i tried to view them through those programs. I would get an error that no photos were in my library.
    After hours of playing and testing i discovered that some of my photos - for seemingly no reason whatsoever - successfully import into iphoto but break the library connection to other programs. I attempted to change file formats and resave them through photoshop and reimport them. This worked some of the time but not with any real consistency i could discern.
    I eventually abandoned it because the process was taking FOREVER in trying to narrow down the issue. I know have all my old photos in a seperate folder where i can view with preview but can't import into iphoto.
    Anyone ever experience this or have any insight into what might have happened? The photos were not corrupted in anyway i could see. Any clues???

    There was a post here over the weekend where a gentleman could not get the library to show up in other applications, including Front Row. He finally tracked it down to a non-ascii character in one of the keywords applied to the photos. I guess this might also affect if there are non-acsii characters in titles etc. Worth checking out.
    He made the discovery from the error messages he got with iPhoto Library Manager, which can be downloaded form here:
