Track information not recognised

Quite a large chunk of my MP3 collection has been imported into iTunes but it does not recognise the track information (i.e. just shows track title & that's it). I know these tracks have Artist/Album etc info as they show up in File Properties. Why does iTunes not recognise them & how can I resolve this?

  • Track information not included?

I recently burnt an Audio CD in iTunes for a friend.
After it was burned on my Mac - I tested it in my iTunes to ensure that it burnt properly. When I inserted it - the names of all the tracks, songs, artist, etc. showed up.
On a whim the next day at work - I decided to put the CD into the computer there. A PC - which is what my friend uses.
None of the information related to the files showed up in either Real Player or Windows Media player or attached to the file in any way.
    I thought it was strange.
I checked that night - and noticed I didn't have "Include CD Text" in the burning menu. So I checked that off and tried again.
But the names of the files still didn't show up.
I eventually gave up and just put the CD in the mail. But it seems odd to me.
I feel like I'm missing something that's staring me right in the eye.
Is it because I burned it as an Audio CD and not an MP3 CD (Burning it as an MP3 CD was not an option because some of the songs weren't MP3 files and I didn't feel like re-ripping them.)
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

Can anyone out there shed some light on this? I've burned a CD on an apple machine off a mixed playlist in order to transfer these songs to another apple machine, as others here have described. The source machine clearly recognizes the track info if the cd is re-inserted, but nothing it recognized by the receiving machine. Of course Gracenote does not work as this is a user created 'mix-tape' type of cd. I've also tried one of Doug's Apple Scripts for itunes to no avail. This can't be an uncommon problem. Anybody?

    Hello Colin
As far as I know this kind of information WMP pick up from the internet but just if you use original music CD. I dont know which WMP version you use but check please WMP Options. You can find it under Tools.
Under tab Security activate the option Show local captions when present. Check also settings for internet connection.
By the way: on this page http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/faq.aspx you can find frequently asked questions about Microsoft Windows Media Player for Windows.

My iPhone 4S is not recognised by my computer when I try to sync. I am looking to upgrade, is it just easier to purchase a new one, then manually transfer data and information? I don't want to try syncing and backing up data to just lose it all. As the new one I plan to get is a newer model, I'm thinking it is just better to do it manually, but then I have the issue of syncing the new one to start.

    Hello Smeebo,
Thank you for asking your question! It sounds like your iPhone is not recognzied in iTunes when you connect it to back it up, or update the device. I would try the troubleshooting in either of these 2 articles depending on what operating system you have:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

    or:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • When a cd is not recognised by gracenote data base, how do you ensure that it dowloads all together in recently added. I am trying to download a nn 8 disk compilation and itunes is putting all track 1/track2 etc together

i am trying to download a compilation of 8 cds which are not recognised by gracenote database. how do I ensure that the disks download seorately. My last try had all track 1/2/3 together rather than 1 - X in each cd

Perhaps it would be helpful for you to view the page source code of this page
    http://www.alanwork.com/
As you can see, the submenu code links are immediately below the top level code, and are
wrapped in their own  <UL> </UL> tag pairs.
    Hope that helps

  • HT204406 Trying to copy a cd I own and this same cd is in the itunes store. Itunes will not autofill the track information

The album is Voxis - Darkeworld. I'm trying to copy this album into Itunes and Itunes will NOT auto fill any of the Information. I did check in the itunes store and the album is there. The digital copy is missing tracks 22-95.

iTunes gets track information for imported CDs from Gracenote, not the iTunes Store. Go to the General preferences in iTunes and make sure that the option to automatically retrieve track names is checked. If it is, it's possible that Gracenote doesn't have that CD in their database, or can't correctly identify and match up the CD. Your system or network may also be blocking access to Gracenote in the firewall.
    Regards.

  • Grace notes track information

Another question regarding the loathsome Itune 11 "upgrade". Whereas I used to be able to find the grace note track information effortlessly, now I have tracks that I have loaded into Itunes from CD's that I have purchased - and not thankfully from Itunes - and I wish for the information pertaining to those tracks to be included. How do I do that now? (which is to say why was every aspect of my use of the previous Itunes find itself elminated from the infernal iTunes 11?)

    Hey Joel Hinman,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like you are referring to the following setting in iTunes General preferences:
iTunes 11 for Mac: iTunes General preferences
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12259
Automatically retrieve CD track names from Internet
Automatically display song and artist names when you insert an audio CD. (To retrieve track names, you must be connected to the Internet.)
    Additionally, see the following article:
iTunes 11 for Mac: If you don’t see song information
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12280
    Thanks,

  • IPod not recognised, locking up and not playing tracks.

I am really hoping someone can help me. I have a 30Gb ipod that keeps locking up, it won't play certain tracks (it just hngs and then eventually skips that track).
I am pretty sure that restoring the ipod would fix this but neither of my 2 PCs will let me. When I connect the Ipod to either computer all I get is the do not disconnect screen. iTunes will not recognise that it is connected, and if I try iPod Updater then it normally just hangs. Sometimes updater will give a message that the iPod is being used by another process, but not always. I can see the iPod in windows explorer, if you click on it though it just stops explorer responding. It is also shown in device manager.
I have been through all of the options suggested on the website (5R's) and still no change. Do any of you guys have any other suggestions? Would taking it to an apple store help me? The nearest store is 50 miles away, so I would like to know if it would be worthwhile.

Re-Format your IPOD using Windows and then "Restore" using the updater. Formatting will take severaL HOURs, so don't rush it.

  • TS3694 I installed itunes onto my desktop but it would not recognise my device & eventually crashed the desktop. I tried my laptop & I got the 3014 error but the ipod has crashed and only shows a USB pic & itunes logo.

Hi, I opened my new ipod 4th generation and had a play with it to initially find & install the amazon audible which I had been told was easy. Anyway I did it so I thought I would have a play with itunes. It regognized all my tracks and I managed to buy an album which I could not find in 'music'. I had to play each tarck, one at at time while they were recognised in history.
While on my laptop I tried to install my tracks but nothing happaened. I was asked to update which I did & then my ipod locked. I've turned it off but when I switch it back on iget a picture of a USB cable pointing to itunes. Logically I thought thaht meant connect to itunes, itunes woud not recognise it and gave a 3014 error.
I have a brand new ipod that is useless, i Feel useless like I am doing somthing wrong. Strange thing is I upgraded from a Philipps GoGear Connect which has bad reviews but at least I could listen to my music, play games and use audible.
Has anyone got any ideas. It was purchased through Amazon/

  • Track Information

After burning a playlist from Itunes there is no track information, as it is a mix of tracks Gracenote will not recognise them. Is there a way to burn a playlist with the track information as well ?

are you using an itunes version 7.0.x?
if so, head into your Advanced-Burning preferences subtab, and make sure that "Include CD Text" is checked.

  • CD not recognised in iTunes!!! ANNOYING!

I am getting really frustrated with my iTunes. It will not recognise any CD that I insert into my drive. I have come on to iTunes support to look for a solution and it seems as though they don't have enough information on this problem and are denying all responsibility by saying 'check for firmware'.
I have tried all their step by step troubleshooting. None of them seemed to work. One of them worked for one CD only after a restart and now it's gone back to not working. Sometimes when I restart my laptop it works but other times it does nothing at all.
Someone surely must have a solution to this problem. It didn't annoy me so much before as I download mp3s. But I got a 4 disc set of The Cure Join The Dots (plus some other CD's) for my Birthday and I don't want to find other ways to rip it. CD's do work in Windows Media Player which means the problem IS with iTunes!!! It also seems to occur when updating to iTunes 8.

  • Broadband username not recognised

    Hi all,
Hope someone can help me on here. I've just signed up for BT Broadband and phone, both of which are now active. Phone went active on 29th March and broadband went active on 30th March. I got e-mails informing me of this, and the e-mail about broadband also included my broadband username and password.
When I setup my broadband, it placed a 'Mt BT' icon on my desktop. I tried accessing this using my supplied username and password, but was told that the username has not been recognised.
I've done a bit of searching on this forum and seen that this is a problem that has occurred to a good few people, but that it sometimes just takes a couple of days to resolve. It's now 4-5 days since my broadband went active and I'm still not able to use it - I've checked my tracking of my order and everything is marked complete.  I've also tried logging on with both my username with and without the @btinternet.com portion of it, and it doesn't make any difference either way. It is not a password issue as I've tried the reset password option and the system doesn't recognise the username.
Can anyone suggest a way forward for me please?
    Thanks
