Track Information (or, how to activate Gracenote)

Hey all -
Perhaps more of a rant that a question, but, here's the process:
1.
Video projects in which I edit with FCP sometimes need audio CD companions, so I export AIFF files;
2.
Import AIFF files into iTunes, use the "command I" to add information about each track, then burn the CD;
3.
Eject the final audio CD, put it into any other Mac, which opens iTunes, and get some abstract name and title instead of the text that I added;
4.
Thinking that I could cheat iTunes, I master the CD using Toast...but when I open the CD in iTunes, some other weird name for the title pops up.
5.
The question:
WHY oh why is the information that I originally set for each audio track not consistent when I move the CD to another computer?

And what role is Gracenote suppose to take in regards to track information?

Such information is not normally contained on an audio CD. If Toast allows it, try setting it to include CD TEXT in the burn. That's not picked up in all cases and players, but it may work for you, at least in some circumstances.
And what role is Gracenote suppose to take in regards to track information?
In a case like this, none that you'd want to occur. But if iTunes is set to attempt to get the track names from the Internet, Gracenote will dutifully attempt to match your CD with one in it's database and may well come back with erroneous information.
